Clara and the Doctor followed Rose and her family home with the help of Pete. It was a normal house. In a normal neighborhood. He was proud of how normal his human self was. As they entered Jackie was making tea and welcomed the guests inside. Classic Jackie Tyler, making tea and inviting guests in, she always enjoyed a presence. The Doctor forgot how much he missed not only Rose but everything Rose represented. The adventurous spirit that made him rediscover his curiosity. The carefree and accepting attitude Rose always had when going to new places. The sense of family her and other friends he's had that made him feel apart of something. That's what he missed the most, the family.

Clara sat down and chatted with Jackie, she always knew how to make people feel comfortable even when she wasn't. She asked about their lives and how they knew the Doctor.

"Rose is in her room, if you wanted to see her Doctor." Jackie added.

There was no hesitation, he needed answers. He needed to see her. The Doctor was led down a long hall decorated with pictures of Rose and her Doctor. There was one that especially caught his attention. A sonogram of what he assumed was the baby she was carrying now. He could see a human version of himself being excited about a baby, he always loved children. His attention drew back to talking to Rose, he wasn't sure what he was going to say, but he had to talk to her. Be alone with her like old times. He and knocked on the white door and waited for an answer, with a single word of response he walked into the room.

She laid on the bed without changing out of her funeral clothes and rested both hands on her very pregnant belly. Rose didn't even look at him when she asked him, "What do you want." In all the time they travelled together, the things they did and saw, watching her people and her planet die, she was the one that smiled through it for the Doctor. And now he needed to do the same for her.

It was Rose Tyler who took the war out of the timelord. It was her who made him happy again. There had to be something he could do.

"Is there anything I can do, Rose?" it felt good to say her name again. But to ask her that? He knew her answer.

"You can go back in time and get my husband." she said with no trace of hope in her voice.

"You know I can't do that." He remembered back, many faces ago, when she saved her father and ultimately he died, being a fixed point just like her husband's death. He could see it, and she knew it.

"He won't get to see his child you know? When we found out we were pregnant, he was so happy. He wanted to tell you, he was just so happy." Rose's eyes glazed over at the memories. "Right before he died he said, 'I am at peace, Rose.' How could he have been at peace?" her voice cracked as tears gathered in her eyes, there was nothing he could say or do but to hold her hand. He learned through Rose, that sometimes all you can do is hold someone's hand.

"Go away, please." she whispered as tears fell from her big brown eyes.

Maybe he should just take Clara and leave, he was doing more damage than good here. Something was keeping him back, refusing to let him leave, it was probably this hero complex. Or maybe it was seeing pain he caused yet again that forced him to stay. He couldn't leave her so broken and unhappy. But what could he do? He shuffled into the kitchen when he was ambushed by his brown haired companion.

"Doctor! Can I speak to you outside?" She said with a cheshire grin.

"Yes, what is it?" He asked as they took a step outside for some air.

"I have an idea." she reported. She told him the plan with enthusiasm and when she was finished she add "so what do you say Doctor? Are you ready to see Rose smile again?"

"I say you're brilliant!" He grabbed hugged her, kissing her heartily on the forehead.

"Rose, there is one thing I can do for you." he cautiously told her as he knocked and slightly opening the door, trying not to invade on her space, but he knew this could help her, even just a little bit was better than not at all. "I cannot bring back your husband, but I can do this." as he told her the plan she broke into a tears again.

"Thank you Doctor." She sobbed out, after a minute of composing herself she hugged the man she used to travel all of time and space with, "thank you so much Doctor, this means so much to me."

"Clara came up with idea, I know it's not what you want, but it's all I can do." he hugged her back, cherishing this time.

"It's perfect." She gave him one last hug and the Doctor headed towards the door.

"Doctor."

"Rose?" he questioned as he turned around.

"Does she make you happy? Clara. Does Clara make you happy?" she asked.

"Yes," the Doctor could feel his face break out into a smile, "she does."

"Good. You deserve to be happy." she smiled and laid back into her bed. She was due any day now. He wondered if it was going to be a boy or a girl.
