Bound To You:
Chapter 18:
"So you're telling me, you have nothing."
"Damon, calm down."
"I will not calm down, Elena!" he lashes out, and I immediately see regret flash across his face, "I'm sorry. I just- Ah!" in a second the coffee table was thrown against one of the walls in the parlor.
"Can you stop being dramatic for all of 5 seconds so Sara can tell us exactly what the problem is." I say, crossing my arms across my chest, unintentionally pushing them up in the process. I roll my eyes as Damon immediately notices and turn back to look at Sara. "Please continue."
"I looked in every Grimoire I have, plus yours." Sara says playing with a ring on her finger, "I couldn't find anything. Whoever it is that's messing with the spell is very powerful."
"Thanks for the newsflash. We haven't noticed." Damon says sarcastically.
"Damon-" I try to speak only for him to cut me off.
"Oh and let me guess, there is absolutely no way for you to track them down. Is there?"
"I'm guessing his attitude is a part of the reason why you haven't spoken in 30 years." I mutter, as I see Damon roll his eyes in my peripheral vision.
"You could say that." Sara says. I watch as something flashes across her face, but it is gone before I could figure out what it was. "Look, Damon-"
"You promised me that you could help us. You said you were able to fix this!"
"I wasn't lying!" she says as she gets off her spot from the couch and stands right in front of Damon's rigged body. A little to close for my liking, "I didn't lie to you," she says and adds almost as an after thought, either of you. I can't do anything. Whoever it is, sealed the spell. I can't touch it."
"So you're saying we're stuck like this?" I ask, noting that the moment she hears my voice she steps back away from Damon. Almost like she just realized that I was still in the room.
"No, I'm not saying that."
"Then what the hell are you saying? What is with you stupid witches insisting on walking around everything! Just spit it out!" I'm so fed up myself, I don't even care that Damon's being an ass.
"I'm saying that the only way to undo the spell is for the witch who is messing with it, to undo it. That's the only way. They made sure of that."
"Well, that's great." Damon says as he makes his way over to the drinking cart pouring himself a glass. Before he takes a sip he chuckles quietly to himself, "That's absolutely great. Great!" he says throwing the glass against the nearest wall, "Fucking great!"
It's quiet for what felt like hours after that. We all just stood where we were, no one daring to move an inch. Sara and I watching Damon, and Damon watching the bourbon run down the perfectly painted wall.
'This is ridiculous.'
I walk over and grab the open tumbler from the drinking cart and take a sip as I stand in front of Damon. "What some?" I ask as he crinkles his eyebrows, "You did kind of just throw your other one against the wall."
I watch as a smirk slowing forms on his face as he takes the tumbler from me, "Thanks."
"We will find a way Damon." I say as he drinks and places it on the cart, "We always do."
"Yeah. We always do." He says as a sad smile replaces his earlier one.
I wrap my arms around his neck and bring him into a hug. A wash of relief goes through me when I feel his strong ones wrap around my waist. "I love you." I mumble into his neck.
"Love you too." He whispers into my ear.
We break away at the sound of Stefan's curious voice, "Damon, do we have any- oh sorry. I didn't realize we were having company."
"Well at least everyone is fully clothed this time." Caroline says from his side, glaring at Damon's arm that was still around my waist.
"If you stick around long enough Blondie, that may change." Damon mock-glares.
"And watch this weird threesome. I would rather stake myself."
"Is that a promise?" Damon smirks at the disgusted look on her face.
"Um. Since you obviously have a lot of explaining do, I'm just going to leave. Oh but before I forget," Sara says as she reaches into her bag and pulls out Bonnie's Grimoire, "here. If I think of anything I'll give you a call."
"Thanks Sara." I say as she places the old book on the couch and leaves.
"So is anyone going to fill us in on who that chick was?" Caroline asks as soon as the door closes.
"Well Blondie, that really-"
"Actually, I would like to know myself." Stefan states as he crosses his arms across his broad chest.
"And we will tell you," I say before Damon could protest any more, "I just have to make a few phone calls. I have an idea."
"Come in." I call from my spot on the couch, when I hear someone knock on the door.
I watch as Bonnie cautiously makes her way into the parlor with everyone else, with the same curious look on her face.
"So what are we all doing here?" Alaric states from his designated spot behind Damon's drinking cart.
"Yeah. The last time I checked you were all pissed off with each other." Jeremy states as he takes a seat next to Bonnie.
"Yeah…it's a long story." I state before diving in headfirst, explaining everything since I slammed the door in Bonnie's face the day she brought up the side effects of the spell.
"So, Sara slept with Damon and you have no problem with her helping free you from the devil reincarnated?" Caroline snidely says.
"Awe Blondie, I'm flattered that you think so highly of me." Damon winks only for her to roll her eyes.
"This has nothing to do with Damon's relationship with her Caroline-"
"Your right it doesn't." Caroline cuts me off, "It has everything to do with you sleeping with Damon."
"Caroline!"
"What? Everyone's thinking it. If you put as much effort into your relationship with Stefan as you did arguing with Damon, you would not be in this situation. The last time I checked Stefan was the one that went to Bonnie in the first place. Your own boyfriend gave up on you because-"
"Oh my God! Just shut up Caroline!" I yell losing any restraint I have left on this matter. "I did not call you here to hear once again how you disapprove of Damon and how Stefan is my 'epic' love." I say using air quotes around epic, "I called you all here to find a solution to this spell." I take a calming breath before I continue. This time looking over at Bonnie, "Sara said something about the spell being sealed. Between you and Isabel's research, I figured we might be able to find something."
"Yeah. Sealing spells are really rare. Mostly because very few families have the few spells that can do it." Bonnie says as she takes her families Grimoire from the side table and opens in up to the spell she wants, "here it- What the hell?"
"What's wrong?" Damon and I ask in unison.
"The spells are disappearing." Bonnie whispers.
"What?" I ask as I get up from my spot beside Damon too look over Bonnie's shoulder at the book in her hands.
If I weren't seeing it with my own eyes I would not have believed it. I watched as the words and symbols slowly disappeared from the pages in front of me. Words that were written hundreds of years ago, that have been passed down from generation to generation, started to fade from the pages. Almost like they were evaporating from thin air.
"That's not possible." Damon says fear written all over his face, "Do something to stop it. Now!"
"Stop talking for one second," Bonnie says threw her teeth, as she hovers her hands over the disappearing spells. After a few seconds of her resisting a spell she yelps out in pain, "Ow! That's not possible." She says as she tries again only to get the same result. "Oh my god…"
"Please tell me their not-"
"Their gone." Bonnie whispers as she flips through the pages, "They are all gone."
"I can't believe this." I whisper as I rest my head on Damon's shoulder. Enjoying the comfort of being in his arms in this moment.
Everyone reluctantly moved into the library to work after it became clear the Bonnie's Grimoire was now useless and they had to figure out a plan B.
"Elena-"
"Don't you dare lie and say we will find a way out of this." I say wiping the tears from my cheeks. "I give up! There is nothing we can do!" I get up abruptly and grab Damon's abandoned glass of bourbon from the coffee table. "It's not fair." I say as I start pacing, "There is absolutely nothing we can do. We are going to end up being suck like this for the rest of our lives! Forever being stuck at the hip-"
"Forever?"
"-God, this brings the whole Ball-And-Chain saying to a whole different level. How-"
"Elena!" I stop where I'm standing a look at Damon, "What do you mean by forever?"
"Do you want me to pull out a dictionary or-?"
"No, Elena." I watch as Damon makes his way to me and cups my face, "what do you mean by forever. Do you mean what I think it means or am I reading into it too much?" Damon asks.
I take a moment to think about what he's asking. The look on his beautiful face is full of love and hope in this moment. Silently begging me to say what I know he wants me to say, but would never truly asking me to do.
Forever?
Could I really see myself spending eternity with Damon?
Yes.
Absolutely.
I would sell my soul to the devil and hand deliver it to him myself to spend eternity with this man before me. With the man I love. The man I would gladly die for. The man I would kill for. There is nothing I would not do for the man standing in front of me.
"Yes." I whisper, never breaking eye contact, "I would gladly spend eternity with your sarcastic, annoying, snarky, cocky ass because I am so completely in love with you." A smile lights up his face as I cup his cheeks, "I told you once that I never felt like this about anyone. 70 years is not enough time for me to love you Damon. I want to have centuries and centuries to love you and to be loved by you. That's if you want me-"
"Elena, stop talking." Damon says right before he smashes his lips on to mine. I pull my body fleshed against his igniting a groan from his perfect lips. I tangle my fingers in his silk like hair; enjoying every bit of access it allows me to deepen the kiss.
"We should probably stop." I pant as Damon starts kissing his way down my jaw towards my collarbone, "We really should- mhnm." I moan as Damon sucks hard on my pulse.
"What should I do?" Damon chuckles against my heated skin.
"Stop talking." I say bring his lips back to mine.
"Guys, I think we- Oh come on!" came the disgusted voice of Jeremy, "Seriously? There are how many bedrooms in this house and you choose to grope my sister where anyone can walk in and see."
"Well this is my house," Damon says with a smirk on his lips, "plus if this is bad then just think of how many places your sister and I-"
"What did you found, Jer?" I ask purposely cutting off Damon's train of thought. And by the look on my brother's face he was as thankful as I am in this moment.
"You have to hear it from Bonnie." Jeremy says before walking way only to stop, "and that means now, not after you have violated my sister against a wall."
"Already have, baby Gilbert!"
"Dude!"
"Damon!" I say covering my face in Damon's chest, not wanting to see the look on my brother's face.
"What? It's not like he hasn't heard you? It's not like your quite, sweetheart."
"Oh my God, Damon. Please stop talking." I whine as soon as we enter the library and take a seat on one of the leather couches in front of the fire.
"Don't be ashamed. It's one of the many things I love about you."
"Oh you are so going to pay for that."
"I'm counting on that." Damon whispers in my ear causing lust to shoot through my body.
"Gross." Caroline mutters as she sips on the blood in her almost empty glass.
"So what did you find?" I ask, hoping that no one will notice my face heating up.
"I realized something," Bonnie starts, "the whole thing with my Grimoire doesn't make any sense. The only way for a witch to be able to do that would be if they were in contact with the book at any point."
"Okay…"
"And the only people who had the book was you two and-"
"Sara," I whisper.
"Sara would never do something like that." Damon cuts in. "She borrowed it so she could find a way to undo the spell."
"Are you sure about that, Damon?" Stefan speaks up.
"Of course I am."
"Really? If I am correct," Caroline says as she sets down her empty glass, "you two didn't speak to each other for 30 years. Did you do something to her? Like maybe, I don't know, used her as a chew toy?"
"You need to get over that Blondie. I don't treat everyone like I treated you. You were one of the few exceptions because you annoyed the hell out of me-"
"Okay Damon we get-"
"Shut up, Stefan." Damon says as he gets up from his spot beside me and walks over to Caroline, "Just because you don't like me, doesn't mean that anyone I associate myself with is exactly like me. Sara would not do something like this. Why is it that every time something goes wrong I'm the one who is at fault?"
'Something is not right here' "Damon," I say bringing his attention back to me, "answer her question."
"What?" his body becomes cold, as I speak, "I don't need to answer to her."
"Fine," I state, "answer to me. You told me you would tell me what happened between you and Sara-"
"Yes, when the time was right. That is not now Elena."
"Well it's going to have to be."
"Think again sweetheart," Damon says as he starts to walk away only to walk into the barrier, "Shit!"
"Do you guys mind giving us a minute?" I ask guiltily.
They all silently leave one by one, until only Damon and I were the last ones left. Taking the warm loving feeling along with them.
"Damon, you need to tell me-"
"I don't need to tell you anything Elena!"
"Yes you do!" I yell walking over to him and looking him in the eye, "You are not alone in this. This also affects me. Now stop being an asshole and answer my question!"
We stand there silently, Damon looking down at me and me trying to bring my heart rate down. After it became clear that Damon wasn't going to say anything, I cupped his face forcing him to look at me. It didn't take long for his body to relax to my touch, allowing me to release a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Please, Damon." I beg, "Does Sara have any reason to be behind this?"
Damon crinkles his eyebrows, as he whispers, "Not in less she really knows."
"Knows what?"
He takes a deep breath before answering, "That I killed her father."
Ohhhhh did anyone see that coming? Nope? Didn't think so :P In the next few chapters a lot of Damon's past with Sara will be revealed, so you can all look forward to that. But because I am finishing up my last few weeks of school before I graduate it may be a while until I post the next chapter. So you will all have to suffer a little longer. I know it's sad and I'm a terrible person :( but in the mean time...
Review, favourite, tell everyone you know about my wonderful story! I really do love reading your feed back :)
