Chapter 32:
Vacation? Or a New Adventure

The sun has risen and hung itself high in the sky over the peaceful Mushroom Kingdom. Its soft morning rays gleamed off of the brown roof of a small yet cozy house sitting just outside of Toad Town.

The house respectfully belongs to the Mario Brothers. Inside the brothers were just starting out their day. Mario was in the kitchen cleaning up from their breakfast while his brother Luigi was sitting on the couch with an open book in his hands. Spettro lay on the floor next to him, chewing on a golden bone.

Since their last adventure, Luigi had been bedridden so he could recover from his ordeal from the spell and the artificial soul. Cybele had stayed for about a week to ensure his recovery was going smoothly before return back to her own home in the forest. Daisy had left a week after her, but not before making the green plumber promise to call her to ensure he was doing well.

For the most part, the green plumber just slept the day away, leaving his older brother to do all the chores around the house. Not that he was complaining – the red plumber was more concern with his brother's wellbeing than the chores he had to do.

Taking a quick peek into the living room, he could see his brother on the couch with the book in his hands. He appears to be reading, but Mario could tell that he was half-asleep. His eyes were closed and the book was slipping out of his grip.

He smiled softly before turning back to the kitchen. For the next hour, it's been peaceful until their phone started ringing. Luigi jumped out of his sleep, the book falling down on the floor. Mario placed the duster down on the coffee table and headed towards the kitchen where the phone was placed.

"I'll get it," He announced before his brother could get up. Luigi settles back on the couch as his brother answers the phone. "Hello, Mario's residence, this is Mario speaking."

There was a soft voice on the other line. "Oh hey Princess, is everything okay?"

There was a silence as Princess Peach spoke through the phone. "Really?"

Mario brighten, excitement running through his veins. "That will be great. Thanks princess; Luigi and I will be there as soon as we can."

Mario rang the phone back on the kitchen wall and ran back to the living room to tell his brother the news. Luigi was awake now, giggling as Spettro lick his face up like candy.

"Weegee," The ghost pup paused and turned to the red hero. Luigi wiped away the dog saliva off his face before turning to his brother as well. Mario smiled,

"Pack your things bro, we're taking a vacation!"

After some packing and a few phone calls, the Mario Brothers were ready to head towards the castle. As they walked down the path that would lead them to Princess Peach's castle, Spettro walked just a few feet ahead of them. Unfortunately, the Polterpup couldn't join them on their trip. Thankfully the Professor agreed to look after him until they returned.

"So, Big Bro," Luigi said. "Where are we heading this time?"

It was a perfect day to take a vacation. The sun was shining, the temperature was just right, and the sky was extra blue today. Luigi was starting to feel a bit stiff with all that sleeping he's been doing and was glad to enjoy some time away with his big brother by his side, along with some good friends.

Mario smiled softly. To him, no one made a better partner than his little brother. He has a feeling they were going to enjoy their little vacation. And if trouble starts brewing, they'll take it head on… Together, the two of them were unstoppable.

"Some place called Pi'illo Island," He replies "You know what Bro, I have a feeling we're really going to like it there."
