Chapter 13
Banding together
Kagome's POV
It was hopeless, there was no way we were going to be able to tract Kikyo, not without Inuyasha's sense of smell. Kirara was still missing, so her help was out of the question. We
had just made camp from another full day of traveling was gone, finding nothing. We've been heading East for about four days now, two of which we had Inuyasha with us. "We
can't keep doing this." Sango said as we all sat around the fire. I looked up to her, "What are you talking about Sango?" I asked her, slightly confused. "I mean we might want to
find someone who can help us track down Kikyo, since we aren't doing such a great job at it." Sango said. She has a good point, I thought. We need help, or were never going to
find her.
"But who?" Miroku asked. "Good question." I said aloud. It was quite for a while, the fire providing the only sound. "What about Kouga?" Shippo piped up and asked. I couldn't help
but to bite my lip. "I'm not too sure about that Shippo." I said to him. He looked up to me, his brown eyes wide. "Why not?" "It's a great thought, but I'm not too sure how he would
react when he finds out that Inuyasha and I have had pups together." I told him. Sango pumped in. "I heard he mated with Ayame." I looked from Shippo to Sango, eyebrows
raised. "Really?" I asked. "I believe so; I think I remember Kohaku saying something about it when he came for a visit." "Huh." I said. I was kind of shocked. It was faltering that
Kouga liked me and all; it was nice to see Inuyasha all jealous that Kouga was all over me. "Should we ask him?" I asked. "It's worth a try." Sango replied. "We'll set out in the
morning for the wolf den." Miroku said. I nodded then look back down to the fire. Shippo started to yawn so I grabbed a hold of him then stood up.
"Shippo and I are going to go to bed now. Night you guys!" I said to Miroku and Sango. "Night Kagome." Sango replied. "Goodnight Lady Kagome." Miroku said. I had to surpass a
giggle; I always wanted to laugh when Miroku used the proper way of addressing a lady. I smiled then walked over to my sleeping bag. As soon as my head hit my pillow I was out
like a light… Dawn came too early for my liking; I hadn't gotten much sleep that night, for I kept dreaming of Inuyasha and Kovin in the hands of Kikyo. What was she doing to them
at that moment? Were they all right? What have I done to deserve this punishment? I kept asking myself that. Was it because I feel in love with Inuyasha? The answer I will never
know. I got up from my sleeping bag, carefully not disturbing Shippo, whom was still asleep. I smiled at Shippo; he was like a son to me before I had my babies. He still is like a son
to me, my mind shot back at me.
I went over to my backpack grabbed my bathing supplies then headed down to the river bank. I stripped down then slowly wadded into the water. It was cool at first; soon I was
soon use to it. I dived into the deeper end, stretching my arms and legs. As I surfaced I saw Sango standing on the edge more likely looking for me. I divided behind a rock, making
sure she didn't see me. I swam slowly making sure I didn't make noise to a couple of rock by Sango. Once I was close enough to Sango, I cupped my hands under the water then
bringing them up. Once Sango turned her back on me I splashed her with the water. She yelped as the water came on contact with her body. She whirled around with a shocked
look on her face. I started laughing. "Why Sango, your all wet." I said as I calmed down from laughing. "Ha-ha, funny Kagome." Sango said with a small smile on her face. "We woke
up and you were gone." Sango said as she crossed her arms. "Sorry, I didn't want to wake anyone up. So I came down here." I told her. I put my sorry face on. "Next time don't do
that please? Make one us up. We need to make sure you're safe, we can't have Kikyo getting her hands on you." Sango said sternly. I sighed then looked off to the sun rise. "Yeah
sure."
Great now there my babysitters, I haven't changed much if they are still looking after me all the time. I'm still to them the girl I was before, who needed protecting. I'm not that girl
anymore. I have changed and I will show them. I quickly washed my hair then got out to change into a pair of shorts and a red tank-top with a pair of red and white sneakers. I
thanked Kami that I lost all that baby fat. I had four babies some fat was bound to stay but nope none did. I shrunk back down to the size I was before I gave birth. These clothes
gave me the ability to move freely and run in case of any danger. Sango and I walked back to camp. Once back at camp Miroku gave me a quick look over making sure Sango didn't
see. I guess not all of his habits died when Sango and he married. "My lady Kagome, you look dashing." Miroku said. I haven't seen that look that Sango gave him in a long time.
"These clothes are better more me." I tried to explain. "Shall we head to the wolf den then?" Sango said as she looked around the small group.
I gulped nervously. "Yeah." I said in a small voice. We set off to the wolf den. The sun rose as we walked. To saw I was nervous was a bit beyond I was feeling. I had no idea as to
why I was nervous. We stopped briefly to eat lunch then we were off again. I could see the mountains where the wolf dens lays. With each step I got more nervous. We were met
on the outside of the mountain by a couple of Kouga's men. It was none other than Ginta and Hakkaku. "Stop you are now in wolf territory. State your name and business." Ginta
said. I looked over to Sango and Miroku, trying that one of them will step forward. Miroku twitched his head towards the two, saying that I should talk to them. I sighed then stepped
forward. I kept my head down until I was close enough. I slowly raised my head and looked at the two. They had a confused look on their face.
Ginta slowly moved forward. "Kagome is that you?" He asked. I smiled. "Hey guys." Ginta smiled then gave me a hug, Hakkaku followed. "What are you doing here?" Hakkaku asked.
"I need to talk with Kouga." I told them. "Sure follow us." Ginta said. I looked back at the others they had started to walk the way Ginta and Hakkaku were. I followed. "Kagome,
when did you get back?" Ginta asked. I looked at them confused. "What do you mean?" "After Naraku was defeated and the jewel completed Kouga came to take you as his mate."
Ginta started I couldn't help the shiver that went through me at the thought of being Kouga's mate. "Inuyasha told him that you were gone." Hakkaku finished. I didn't know what to
tell them. They were going to find out soon enough anyway. Wait a moment. What has happened to the sacred jewel?
I hurried up to Sango. "Sango, what happened to the jewel?" I whispered in her ears. "We spread a rumor that it no longer existed, it's in hiding. Waiting for you to come back and
make the correct wish to get rid of it forever." Sango whispered back. I just nodded. Great now I have another thing to add to my list of worries. We made it the opening of the cave.
"Is it okay if we wait out here?" I asked. "Sure we'll bring Kouga to you." Miroku looked over to me. "Is everything alright Lady Kagome?" I nodded. It didn't take long before Ginta
and Hakkaku came back out with Kouga in tow. "This better be good." I heard Kouga say before they came outside. I turned to face then. Kouga looked around the group then
rested his gaze on me. A smile grew on his face. "Kagome You came back." Kouga said as he came over to me and gave me a huge hug. "Hi Kouga." I said to him as he set me down.
"I see you have changed your mind about becoming my mate." Kouga said. "Kouga what about Ayame?" Ginta asked. Kouga looked over to Ginta. "Well I could always have a
mistress." Kouga said. My eyes grew wide. "HOW DARE YOU." I shouted at him. "Do woman mean so little to you? We have feelings as well. I can't stand it when guys like you act
like pigs." I was fuming by the end. I was on such a short temper lately that I found a lot of things are setting me off. "What's her problem?" Kouga asked as he looked over to
Sango and Miroku. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I slapped him across the face. "I can't do it. You guys talk to him." I said to Miroku and Sango. I started to walk back down the
mountain.
"Kagome, where are you going?" Sango yelled to me. "Away from here. I need to be alone." I yelled back. I ran then, getting as far away from Kouga as possible. I ran for quite
some time. I stopped by a river clearing that was far away from the mountain to my liking. I sat down on the river bank, watching the river flow. Yesh, Kouga was such a jerk. How
dare he think that'll be his mistress. That's insulting. I was so deep in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed a demon was after me, until it had me pinned beneath it. "What a lovely
woman. A miko at that, I shall devour you and your miko powers." The demon hissed. I stared wide eyed at the demon. I searched around for my bow and arrows finding them over
by the edge of the water. I closed my eyes as the demons mouth opened and came down towards my face. I waited for it to bite, for death to come. But nothing came.
I slowly opened my eyes, seeing that the demon was no longer on top of me but was across the clearing. I saw a figure behind the demon. I scrambled to my feet, getting to flee in
case. The other demon came in view. It was Sesshomaru. I slowly relaxed, knowing that this demon was nothing compared to Sesshomaru. I was right, Sesshomaru finished off the
demon in a matter of seconds. He then turned on me. "Miko, where is Inuyasha?" He asked. "Kikyo has him under her control." I told him. "It is true then. That you and him have
pups together. One being the key of breaking the curse of destruction?" "Yeah it's true." I told him. "Come on then Miko we must gather your friends and leave." Sesshomaru said as
he turned and walked towards the mountain. "What do you mean?" I asked him as I hurried to catch up with him. "There is a role I play in this journey." Sesshomaru said. I was
shocked, that Sesshomaru was actually going to help us. Well we now have Sesshomaru on our side. What about Kouga?
