Chapter 14
In the hands of the enemy
Kagome's POV
Sesshomaru was quite on the way back to Kouga's den. Well he wasn't always one for words. His actions spoke for him. I hadn't realized how far I ran from the wolf den until we
were walking back. I was wiped out by the time we got to the base of the mountain. "Kagome, you should not have run off like that. You could have gotten in trouble." Sango said as
soon as she saw that I was back. I rolled my eyes. "Listen Sango, you too Miroku, you need to lay off a little. I can take care of myself." I told them. I just couldn't take them babying
me anymore. I thought I heard a little chuckle come from behind. I whirled around to face Sesshomaru.
"Kagome, what is Sesshomaru doing here?" Miroku asked. "Well um he kind of saved me from a demon…" I started. Sango cut in. "What? I told you that you shouldn't have gone by
yourself." I brushed her off. "Sesshomaru said that he will help us save Kovin and Inuyasha. That he has a part to play." I told them. "What part?" Shippo asked. I hadn't even
noticed that Shippo was even here. I shrugged my shoulders. "No clue, he hasn't told me anything yet." We all looked to Sesshomaru from an explanation of why he was helping us.
Sesshomaru just stood there, not saying a word. I dared to ask him the question. "Sesshomaru why are you helping us?" Again Sesshomaru did not answer. I crossed my arms and
tapped my foot. I was really losing my patients with him. "Jaken will explain." Sesshomaru finally said, and then he turned and left. "Wait Sesshomaru where are you going?" I yelled
to him with my hand outstretched as some way to stop him. "I will be back come morning, you best be ready to set out when I return." With that Sesshomaru disappeared into the
forest.
I turned around to look at my friends. "Are you hurt Kagome?" Sango asked. "I'm fine." I told her. A little shaken up really, it was my first one-on-one demon encounter since I came
back here. "Any ideas were Jaken will is?" Shippo asked. Good question, normally Jaken is attached to Sesshomaru. "Isn't even normally like attached to Sesshomaru?" Sango asked,
practically reading my thoughts. "Yeah, why don't we set up camp and wait for him?" Miroku suggested. So we made camp at the base of Kouga's mountain. At one point Kouga came
down to offer us a place inside the den, I had declined really not in the mood to deal with Kouga. As I got the fire wood Kouga came over to try to attempt apologizing to me, saying
that not all his feeling for me has gone away. Although he loves Ayame very much, and he would never doing anything that would hurt her. He loves her very much, that I can tell.
Once we had set up camp I wandered off to the edge and sat on a boulder. I was to lost in my thoughts, as I gazed upon the setting sun the sky around it turned a red color, it
reminded me so much of the color that blood is.
"The red sky is a bad omen." A voice came from my left. I jumped up off the boulder and spun around to face the forest. Trying to find the owner of the voice I squinted to try to see if
I could see anything. I was able to make out a shape, barley. The shadow moved forward into the fading light. It was Jaken. "Lord Sesshomaru sent me." Jaken said. I nodded then
started walking back to camp, hoping he will understand the message that he should follow. I quickly glanced behind me to make sure he was following. As we made it back to camp,
Miroku and Sango looked up as we walked into the light from the fire. "Jaken is here." I told them as I sat down. Shippo came running over and curled up in my lap. I ran my hand
through his hair, just doing that made me think of my babies at home, how I missed them. I wanted to them to be here so badly. Jaken's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "It is
true then. The sacred objet is within your son?" I looked up to him. "Yeah it is."
Jaken sighed then sat down. "I just first started to follow Lord Sesshomaru when it was rumored that there has been created a weapon of mass destruction. It was said that this
weapon could wipe out the entire human population who lived. Naturally many demons went after this weapon in hope to obtain it and destroy human kind. Lord Sesshomaru and I
encounter the priestess whom guarded the object. Saki guessed we were like all the others and wanted to object, so she fought Lord Sesshomaru. The fight was well even. Many
demons that learned of the fight came to join Lord Sesshomaru in attempts to gain procession of the object. It looked as if Saki was on her last ounce of power; Lord Sesshomaru
was in the middle of an attack when he stopped. Everything slowed then. Lord Sesshomaru stood frozen to where he stood, and then he turned on the other demons and killed
them. Saki stood up and walked over to Lord Sesshomaru. She placed her hands upon him, which was completely outrageous. I expected Lord Sesshomaru to kill her, but instead he
placed his hand on top of hers. They looked into each other's eyes, and then Saki spoke. "Lord Sesshomaru, there will come a time when you will need to guard his object, for I have
seen what will happen. It is part of your duty to guard this object, for it was also your father's duty." With that Saki walked away from Lord Sesshomaru." Jaken stopped talking.
We all waited for him to continue, but nothing but silence came. "So what happened?" Miroku asked. "Nothing, Saki ended up dying, and ended up sealing away Kuro and the object.
So Lord Sesshomaru waited until the object was once again on this earth. Which has been reborn into your son." Jaken said that last part at me. "So does Sesshomaru know what
he has to do?" Sango asked. Jaken looked to Sango. "If he does he has not told me." That was all he said. Jaken got up and started to walk away. "Lord Sesshomaru will be here
come morning, you best be ready for him." Jaken then disappeared into the forest. I looked back at the others. "Well that didn't help much." I said. "But it did kind of help." Miroku
said. I started to yawn, feeling sleep crawling up on me. "I'm going to bed. Night!" I said to them. "Good night." They both said in unison. I went over and laid down in my sleeping
bag, with Shippo curled up next to me, I fell asleep.
I was woken up by the smell of food cooking, I wanted to sleep more but my stomach was hungry. I got up from my sleeping bag and looked over to the fire pit. Sango was up and
cooking some fish. "They smell good." I said as I walked over to the fire pit. "They should be ready." Sango said as she smiled up at me. We all ate in silence. I was cleaning up
around the camp when Sesshomaru emerged from the forest. "Come, we have a long day ahead of us." Sesshomaru said then started to walk towards the path. We quickly got out
things together then followed. We walked from a long time; it wasn't till able noon we stopped for a break. I just sat down to rest when the sky changed colors. We all jumped up in
defensive. Sango and Miroku came over and stood in front of me. I looked past them and saw Inuyasha.
Sesshomaru stood in front of us with his sword drawn. "It seems you are in your full form." Sesshomaru said. "It will be easier to capture her." Inuyasha responded. His gaze went
to mine; I tried to look away but was unable to. I felt something within me, telling me to go to Inuyasha. I tried to fight that feeling but it was slowly growing stronger. Sesshomaru
started to attack Inuyasha. I felt the pull loosen a little but it was still there. I fought to try to get rid of it, and then it was gone. I felt confused, what was that? I was about to say
something to Miroku and Sango about it when bam! It hit me full force. I noticed I had to control of my body.
I felt something hot growing at my hands; I looked down to see a red glowing thing coming from my hand. My hand lifted towards Miroku and Sango, and then it shot out, hitting
them square in the back. I screamed, but no sound escaped me. Inuyasha looked over to me smiled. He bounced out of the way of Sesshomaru's attack; he landed right in front of
me. "It is time." Inuyasha said he then held out his hand for me. My hand lifted and placed it in his. Everything started to go black. Inuyasha's arms circled around my waist. I felt all
my strength leave me then, I felt sleep come over me, so I gave in letting it drag me under.
