Chapter 23
A spark of hope
Kagome's POV
I looked at Izayoi wide eyed. Did I just hear her right, or am I just hearing things? "What did you just say?" I asked again, maybe I just heard her wrong.
"I said that we met our dad." Izayoi said. I looked to Inu screeching his face to see if it was true that Izayoi said. Inu knew I was looking to him for
confirmation. "It's true." Inu said as he crossed his arms over his chest, looking a lot like his father. I couldn't believe it. I turned to the well and peered
inside, hoping to feel the magic of the well, I felt all those times before. I felt nothing, nothing like all those times before I had checked. "Why, why can't I
go through?" I whispered.
I couldn't help the tears that started to pool in my eyes; Inuyasha and I were only separated by this damn well. "Mom why don't we go inside?" Izayoi
said as she placed a hand on my shoulder. I nodded and turned around to face them. I looked over each of them; I was so distracted with everything
that was going on that I had failed to notice that Kohana was not with her brother and sister. "Where's Kohana?" I asked, I felt panic started to creep up
on me. Inu placed a reassuring hand on my arm. "She decided to stay back...back where ever we were." I glanced back at the well again. "Why did she
decide to stay?" I asked.
I looked back at Inu and Izayoi, both were exchanging looks between each other. "She wanted to stay with dad." Izayoi said softly. I did not know what
to say, I was at a loss of words. I made my way over to the stairs, and out the well house. As I walked past the sacred tree, I got this feeling within me. I
stopped walked and turned towards the tree. This feeling, it was pulling me towards the tree. I slowly moved closer, making the pull stronger. I stopped
right in front and placed a hand upon the tree, the spot where I freed Inuyasha from Kikyo's arrow. As soon as my hand made contact with the tree
everything went black.
I got this weird feeling as if I was no longer a part of my body. The black around me started to fade reveling a blue sky and beneath a forest of green. As
I gazed around I realized that I was floating. I lifted my arms for inspection, I could see right through them. What was going on? I looked back up to look
at my surroundings. It looked familiar, though I could not place my finger on how I knew it. I look down to the ground and noticed a red figure looking into
a well. As soon as I saw the well everything clicked into place. I was in the feudal era, it was Inuyasha. "Inuyasha." I whispered. I floated down to the
well. "We will be together again Kagome." I heard Inuyasha whispered.
I placed my hand on top of his, hoping that somehow he might feel my presence here. "I'll come back to you Inuyasha, I promise." I said. I was pulled
away from Inuyasha. I felt a sort of snapped then I was back in my own body. I slowly opened my eyes. "Mom is everything okay?" I heard Inu say from
behind me. I slowly turned around to face him. "I'm fine." I told him. "Let's go inside then." Inu said then walked towards the house. I followed after him.
Just before we reached the doors Inu stopped walking and turned around to face me. "Mom, what happened?" Inu asked. "What do you mean?" I asked
him slightly confused. Inu sighed then said. "What happened with...dad?" Inu said. I heard the slight hesitation of the word dad. "I'll explain when were
all together." I told him. Inu nodded and turned around and went inside.
I went inside and saw that mama had Inu and Izayoi in a hug. "Thank Kami that you are safe." Mama said. "I'll be in the kitchen waiting; I'm ready to tell
what happened." I said. I walked into the kitchen made a cup of tea and sat down at the kitchen table. A few moments after I sat down, everyone came
and sat down around me. Mama placed a hand on top of mine. "Kagome are you sure about this?" She asked. I nodded. "I'm sure." I said.
I took a deep breath. "It started when I found out I was pregnant with you kids. I told your father, but something happened that caused him to send me
away. I swore that I would never see him, he had pushed me away to many times before and this time I finally had it. Though that did not seem to last,
your father came back for me. By that time I had already had you kids. I tried to stay away him, though I found out the truth as to why he did what he
did. Your father's ex had threatened my life. We paid no head to the threat, we grew back together. When I went back with your father, Kikyo attacked
us. She stole away from us your bother Kovin. We later found out that her intentions were to raise forth a sacred object hidden inside of your brother's
body."
Inu cut in there. "What was the sacred object?" He asked. I looked over to him. "It was an object to destroy all of mankind." I told him. Izayoi gasped.
"What was it doing in Kovin?" She asked. "I do not know." I said to them. Even to this day, I still had no clue as to why it is inside him. "What
happened?" Izayoi asked. "We went after him, but Kikyo somehow was able to control you father, causing him to kidnap me, he brought me to the place
Kikyo was hiding out." I stopped talking to breath in some fresh air; my chest had grown tighter from retelling of this story. I had kept it locked inside for
so long that it was a bit hard to talk about.
I continued on "In order for Kikyo to completely bring forth the object, the blood of the person who bore the host body was to be spilled... In other
words,I had to die for Kikyo to bring forth the object." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw mama place her hand over her heart. I continued on again. "I
was sacrificed, Kikyo had done it; she killed me to get her hands on the object." Tears started to fall, that was when I was ripped away from Inuyasha. I
heard mama sniffles, she too had been crying. "Oh my dear Kagome." Mama said as she put her arms around me.
"How are you alive?" Grandpa asked. "The creator of the sacred jewel came to me when I was in the spirit world. She had told me that I was too young
to be taken from the world. She informed me that I was able to go back, though it came with a price. I was never going to be able to see Inuyasha
again." I told him. "Why did you come back then?" Souta asked. "I could not leave my children without a mother, or a parent. I came back for them, he
though I knew I would never see Inuyasha again." Izayoi came over and hugged me. "Don't worry mama, we will find a way for you to get back to dad."
Inu stopped up and came over to stand beside us. "Yeah, we'll be together as a family." I held out my arm for Inu, he stepped inside. I hugged both my
kids close to me. We will be a family no matter what.
