Chapter 25

A price to pay

Inuyasha's POV

I stood on top of the hill, watching the sun rise over the dark earth, the night air still blowing around me. With the sun, everything rose. The humans getting ready for another hard

day of work; the demons terrorizing everything in sight, everything worked around the sun. With the sun came adventure, another one I will be heading on. This adventure will differ

from all my last ones. Normally I am with my friends, Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara, along with the love of my life Kagome. This time I am going with my sons Kovin and Inu, were

headed off to the demon slayers village, off to the cave of Midoriko.

When Inu showed up last night and said that there was magic that linked this world to the world of Kagome's. It got me thinking that all we had to do was find someone who was

powerful enough to be able to tap into that link. The only person I was able to come up with such power was Midoriko. "Dad? You there?" A voice called out to me. I looked behind

me to see Kovin walking up the hill to me. "What's up?" I asked him as he stood beside me. "Wondering where you were." Kovin said. "Are you ready?" I asked him. Kovin nodded.

"I'm ready to leave, have one problem though." Kovin trailed off. I faced him. "Which is?" I asked. "It looks like our guest is more than reluctant to get up." Kovin said with such a

disgusted tone. "That "guest" is your brother young man." I told him firmly and crossed my arms over my chest. "I know that." Kovin said with a hint of attitude. "What is your

problem?" I asked, sick with his attitude. "You've never been like this why now?" Kovin was silent before answering. "Nothing, it's just if he is going to be here with us, he might

want to start to act like the way we do." Kovin said. "Kovin, this is all new to him, he is going to need time to adjust. Just give him time okay?" I told him.

Kovin nodded his head. "Good, I'm going to go wake him up. Meet us at the edge of the village." I told him then ran for Sango's hut. I parted the door and went inside, Kovin was

right. Inu was sprawled out on the floor asleep. I went over to him knelled down beside him. "Inu, it's time to wake up, we have to get going." I said. I waited a moment waiting to

see if Inu would get up, he was still passed out. "Inu, it's time to wake up." I said louder this time, again nothing. I scanned the room seeing if I could use anything to wake up Inu; I

spotted a buck of water in the corner. Why not, he's not waking up I thought as I grabbed the bucket. I stood over him with the bucket tilted. "Inu final warning wake up or you're

getting this bucket of water on you." I warned.

Inu groaned and rolled over. "Don't say I did not warn you." I said then poured the water over top of him. The water hit Inu with a loud splash sending water everywhere. Inu now

soaked sat up. "MOM." Inu shrieked. I couldn't help the laugh. I guess Kagome does this to him, since he yelled out her name. Inu rubbed his eyes clean of water he looked up to

me. "What did you do that for?" Inu asked. I crossed my arms. "It was time to get up." I told him. "Hurry up and meet me outside." I said then walked out. I stood outside of the

entrance overlooking the village. Everyone was up and about ready for another day. A moment later Inu came out of the hut dressed in the clothes we got for him last night. "Ugh,

what is up with these weird cloths or yours?" Inu said as he tried to fix the top he had on.

I laughed out loud. "For one, you have it on backwards." I said. "Two our cloths are weird, your cloths are the weird ones." Inu quickly switched his shirt around and stood beside

me. "Well I'm ready to go." Inu said. I nodded and started walking to the edge of the village where Kovin was waiting. "So how are we going to get where we are going?" Inu asked

as well walked. "We are going to walk." I told him. Inu looked over to me shocked. "Walk?" He asked as if he did not hear me right. I nodded. "Yeah we are going to walk there." I

told him. I heard Inu huff, like it was such a chore to walk. "Don't worry I borrowed Kirara." I told him. Inu looked confused. "How can that small cat help?" Inu asked. I chuckled.

"Just wait and see." I told him. We finally reached the edge of the village. Kovin waited with Kirara. "Finally ready I see." Kovin said. I glared at him. Kovin must have understood

what my glare meant because he shut his mouth. "Let's get going then." I said then started out in the direction of the demon slayers village.

It was quite for a while; it seemed everyone was too caught up in their own thoughts to really talk. I must admit was a bit awkward, I had no idea what to say to Inu. I missed out

on seeing him grow up. Plus him being raised in his mother's world just cut things in half. Him being all…what was that world Kagome always used? More technology advanced. It

was out of my knowledge. It was around noon when he stopped from a short break and to have lunch. "Okay, Kovin go grab some vegetables. Inu start a fire, I'll go fishing. "I said

then headed out to the river. I caught six fish easily. As I made my way back to our meeting spot I saw Kovin sitting on a log, Inu nowhere in sight.

I put the fish down. "Where's your brother?" I asked Kovin. Kovin shrugged his shoulders. "No clue." He said. "Okay, I'll go look for him then." I said. "Get lunch ready." I called to

Kovin before I went into the forest following Inu's scent. I walked until I came to a little clearing where Inu's scent disappeared. "Inu?" I called out. "Up in the tree." I heard Inu say. I

looked up and sure enough Inu was in the tree. "What are you doing up there?" I asked as I walked over to the tree he was in. "This ugly thing came back. I got a bad feeling from it

so I hid in the tree." Inu said as he climbed back down the tree.

It dawned on me, he will not know of demons in his world. "That thing was a demon." I told him Inu looked at me a shocked look of him face. "Demons are real?" Inu asked. I couldn't

help raising my eye-brow. "Yeah, what do you think you are?" I asked. "I knew I was like something along of a half-demon, I just never really thought that there would be more." Inu

said. "Well get use to it, there's a lot more form where that came from." I told him. "Come on we'll eat then head back out." I said then started to walk back to camp. We roasted the

fish and had some wild berries Kovin was able to find, after we headed back out. Inu was growing tired. I knew he didn't want to say anything; the stubbornness in him reminded me

of me. "Kirara can you transform beside Inu, he's getting tired." I asked Kirara.

She meowed then ran up beside Inu. She transformed into her big self. Inu gave a girl shriek when she transformed. Kovin and I could not help but laugh. Inu glared back at us "Not

funny." He said. "Yeah it is." I said with a smile on my face. "Hop on you two, were running the rest of the way." I said. Kovin hopped onto Kirara, Inu stood beside Kirara not moving.

"Get on her." I told him. Inu hesitated a moment before climbing onto Kirara's back. I saw his grab a fistful of hair in his hands, holding on for his dear life. I chuckled a bit then ran off

Kirara on my heels. We made it to the outskirts of the demon slayers village in no time. Inu was looking around with this sort of awe look on his face. "Were going on holy grounds,

you must be pure to be able to pass through."I said.

We reached Midoriko's cave, I could feel the barrier placed just inside, protecting this sacred sight. "Come on." I said to the other two then headed inside. We reached the part

where Midoriko was, where her final resting place is. "Wow, what is that?" Inu said as he looked around the cave. "This is Midoriko, the creator of the four jewels." I told him. "Dad

how is she going to help us?" Kovin asked. "We are going to call her forth." I told him. I took a moment of concentration on my part but I was able to call forth Midoriko's soul.

I found out I could see the spirit of the dead a while back. I still have no clue how it happened but I've stopped trying to figure out why. I could feel Midoriko's spirit appearing, and

soon there she was hovering above ground transparent. "Midoriko we have come for your help." I said. Midoriko nodded her head. "I know, you have come to see if there was

anything you can do to unite you with your love Kagome." Midoriko said. I nodded and said. "Yes, I will do anything for me to be with Kagome again, there is any way you can help

us?" I asked her. Midoriko nodded her head slowly. "There is a way, but you must give up something in order for you to be together." I had a feeling I would have to give up

something. "I'll do anything to be with Kagome again." I told her. "In order for you to be with Kagome, you must give up your demon side, thus becoming human."
