"We gonna get this thing started or what?" Jinx demanded, crossing her legs in front of her. The other three girls exchanged glances, each and every one of them nervous to proceed; some being more anxious than others. As it had been during their previous sleepover, the Titans were positioned in a circle in the middle of the ops room, pillows surrounding them on all sides. "I mean, now that we're done checking for any recording devices while waiting for the dark slowpoke over here." The pink sorceress nodded at Raven who just stared back impassively.
"Well, let's report in then," Bumblebee stated, scanning the group. Her first choice was the most obvious. "Jinx, though we've all seen it," the Titans East leader added under her breath, "have you completed your challenge?"
Jinx smirked. "You want me to call Kid over here to prove it again?"
"No," Bumblebee responded, rolling her eyes and resting her elbow on her knee. "I was just askin' to be nice. We've seen more than enough of you two makin' out by now."
"Ooo, do I sense someone being jealous?" Jinx teased, sneering. She grinned mischievously. "Besides, you haven't seen anything even close to our making out."
"And we don't want to," Bumblebee assured. She was sitting cross-legged in between Starfire and Raven, the two Jump City Titans having said nothing since the group had gathered. Starfire was listening politely while Raven remained in an indecipherable silence. The Titans East leader clapped her hands together. "'Kay, next!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Jinx interrupted, waving her hands back and forth. "Hang on now; since I have finished first, shouldn't I get something for it?"
Bumblebee grunted. "Yeah, a kiss from your boyfriend." Starfire smiled and even mute Raven gave a small smirk.
Jinx was not as amused. "Well, can I come up with the punishments for those not completing the requirements for our deal? Y'know, since I'm guessing that there's gonna be quite a few of those."
Her words created a shift in the circle, and Bumblebee straightened her spine, glancing at Raven. The empath opened her mouth. "You can pitch ideas, just like the rest of us."
"Pft."
As Jinx moped for a minute, Bumblebee looked to Starfire. "Alrighty then, movin' on. Star," she stated, proclaiming it was the next girl's turn. "You finish your end of the deal? Did you get to see Spike's eyes?" The Titans East leader couldn't help but ask, "Do you know his secret identity?" Despite themselves, the two other girls were interested in Starfire's response as well, and they moved closer to the alien princess.
Starfire held her head high, her fingers absentmindedly smoothing out the sleeping bag beneath her. "I have done the finishing my end of the deal."
"What?!" Jinx and Bumblebee cried in the same gasp. Raven was surprised as well, but she just tilted her head in curiosity, realizing why she had seen so little of Robin and Starfire the day before.
"Yes," Starfire repeated as if it was the simplest fact in the world.
"B-B-B-B-But how?!" Bumblebee stammered.
Jinx grinned, clasping her hands together eagerly. "Yeah, spill the beans." Starfire looked confused at the expression, but decided to ignore it and answered the question instead.
"I must confess that it was not intentional; in truth, I was refusing when he showed me," she admitted.
"Uh, why?" Jinx lifted a pink eyebrow. "Wasn't that the point of the deal?"
"Oh, but I was feeling the guilt very much so because of the challenge. I did not believe myself worthy to do the learning of his identity of secret." Starfire bowed her head, remembering her actions sadly until reminding herself that Robin did not blame her. She brightened at the thought of his assurance and reveal of his blue-green eyes. "He did the convincing of me that it was alright, even after I explained that I had agreed to because of the deal making."
Sucking in air through her teeth, Bumblebee stared at her. "You… told… him?!"
The other girls were likewise feeling somewhat horrified until Starfire enlightened them to the information that followed. "I apologize, but I did. Yet, it seemed he already was aware of our deal," the alien princess noted, "and he removed his mask. It… was most alarming, but I was quite relieved. And enchanted by his eyes," she added, blushing and setting a strand of hair behind her ear.
"What color are they?" Jinx pried, practically glowing with nosiness.
Starfire's smile dropped into a thin line. "I cannot say."
"What?" Bumblebee frowned. "But didn't you see his eyes?"
"It is not my place to speak of it," the loyal girlfriend vowed. "If you must, I will accept any instruction you wish to give me, but I did see Robin's eyes."
Bumblebee, Jinx, and Raven exchanged glances. "We believe you, Starfire," Raven said.
Bumblebee groaned, falling onto her back and covering her eyes with her arm. "So, I'm guessin' that your telling us his secret identity is out of the question too?"
"Hang on," Jinx hesitated. "So Star, I'm really happy for you and everything, but didn't you break the rules? You told him about the deal."
"She's kinda got a point," Bumblebee admitted, sitting up again. "And there's also the thing that Rob knew about it ahead of time. I don't know if we should count this."
Luckily for Starfire, Raven was there to support her teammate and spoke up in the alien princess's defense. "It will count," the empath said. "He was the one to show her, despite his knowing, and thus he would have shown her either way, had he or had he not been aware of the situation."
This was good enough for Bumblebee and Jinx, and they nodded in acceptance. "Fine by me," the pink sorceress uttered.
Bumblebee shrugged. "Well, fine, I guess it works when you put it like that."
Raven shifted her small red pillow in her arms closer to her chest. "Bumblebee, you only wanted her out because you didn't want to be alone when you get your repercussion for not completing the deal."
Bumblebee actually went as far as jumping to her feet, glaring fiercely at the empath. "Oh, and like you did!" The Titans East leader assumed that Raven had been so quiet because she was hiding her nerves behind the impassive screen she always wore. "There's no way you got your kiss because you told me this mornin' that you haven't, and seein' how you were treatin' BB all day, there's no way you convinced him to in the past few hours!"
The empath hardly reacted, taking a page out of Knowledge's book and thinking her answer through before she answered. "And if I haven't, what would be my punishment?"
"What do you think?" Bumblebee replied with a mischievous grin.
Raven regarded the girl above her with a blank stare. "I did not convince him."
"That's what I thought," Bumblebee stated boldly, folding her arms over one another. She plopped down back into her position on a particularly large pillow, crossing her legs again. "I knew you'd never be able to do it."
Starfire gave her dark teammate a worried look, but Jinx was grinning just as much as Bumblebee. The pink sorceress clapped her hands together, rubbing them back and forth as she plotted. "Alright, the first punishment!" Scanning the group, Jinx proposed, "I say we make her wear a pink dress for a full day!" Raven clenched her jaw tightly enough for it to be noticeable, and Starfire tilted her head in confusion, not understanding the reason for believing her friend's idea was a punishment. Jinx went on, "Or… make her… eat a jar of hot chili peppers! No, wait. I've got it; she actually has to laugh at something out loud. And she has to add a snort in there too! Or-or combine all three!"
The empath's following reactions were nothing other than to hold her velvet pillow closer to her stomach. The Titans East leader interrupted, pleased to see the small red dots appear on Raven's cheeks when Bumblebee jumped in. "No, none of that." She smirked. "She's got to tell Beast Boy exactly how much she likes him. And no loopholes either, Raven! You have to go up to him and say that you have a crush on him!"
Raven opened her mouth, but Jinx exploded with excitement first, "And you have to do it in front of all of us! Right now!" Raven stared at the pink girl, Jinx sparking with eagerness. "Well? Go get him!"
The empath set her shoulders, pushing off of the ground to stand, when Starfire stopped her. "Please friends; is this punishment not too harsh? It will be embarrassing for friend Beast Boy as well as Raven. I implore you to think of something else, for his sake as well as Raven's."
Neither girl was convinced. "Yeah right," Jinx scoffed, shaking her head. "I've been waiting two whole weeks for this!" Bumblebee nodded in agreement, and with a sigh, Raven started for the door to find Beast Boy. Starfire watched her friend go, wondering how the empath could appear so calm in the face of something that might easily end in disaster.
"What are you doing, Cyborg?" Robin asked, crossing his arms at the sight of his robotic teammate pressed up with his ear against the ops door. Cyborg threw a finger over his lips.
"Shh! They're talking!"
Robin walked over to his friend, leaning against the wall. "And you can hear anything that way?"
"No," Cyborg admitted, straightening. He wore a frustrated look on his face. "It's really annoying. I hope these sleepovers don't become a tradition or something because I'm going to go insane if I don't know what they're talking about."
The Titans leader pinched the bridge of his nose. "Cyborg, you and I both know what they must be talking about. Just leave them alone." Robin might have been convinced two weeks ago to try listening in on the girls' conversations, but now he had learned his lesson. Experience was a good teacher, and carrying the guilt from having tried to eavesdrop was an effective punishment.
"But man!" Cyborg complained, motioning toward the door that would lead into the ops room. "I heard someone shout in there! I think it was Bumblebee!"
"Did she sound in pain or like she was fighting?" Robin questioned, lifting an eyebrow.
"No," Cyborg confessed once more, rubbing his arm. "But…"
"Then leave them alone, Cyborg. If you want to get into a sleepover so badly, why don't you just have one of your own?"
Cyborg tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Hm… Not a bad idea…" He paused, tilting his head. "Unless I dress up like a girl so I can sneak in…"
Robin chuckled. "Are you really considering something that Beast Boy came up with to get into the sleepover?"
"Hey, that idea was one of my better ones!" Beast Boy appeared in the hallway, rounding a corner as he smiled at his friends. Cyborg waved the smaller teenager over.
"BB, help me out here! I'm trying to listen in."
Beast Boy squinted doubtfully at the door. "Uh, that's okay dude. I don't think it's really worth it anymore. Remember how bad we did last time?" Cyborg gawked at his green friend while Robin nodded approvingly. Beast Boy was oblivious to both of their reactions. "So what's everyone up to?"
Cyborg grunted, gesturing to the door, and Robin held up a cracked light bulb. "Well, I was on my way to fix this burnt-out bulb when Cyborg distracted me. I have no idea how it broke already; we just had all of the lights replaced a month ago."
"Light bulb…?"
Cyborg smirked at Beast Boy. "Yeah, you know, those things that make it easier to see when it's dark? It's like a little torch that doesn't catch things on fire. Well, usually." He had momentarily given up on eavesdropping on the girls and relaxed against the wall.
Robin inspected the light bulb in his hand again. "It's a little strange though. This one has a crack in it, and I don't know how that happened unless someone was playing around with it." Out of habit, he and Cyborg faced Beast Boy expectantly.
The shape-shifter held his hands out. "Whoa, I didn't break it!" He shifted his eyes to the side. "I-I don't know what happened to it."
Robin and Cyborg exchanged a confused glance, but before either could comment, the doors slid open and the group froze in surprise. Raven lifted an eyebrow at the boys gathered in the hallway, the memory of a similar occurrence during Starfire's previous sleepover flashing through her mind, and then the empath sighed. Cyborg coughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Déjá-vu, huh?"
Raven rolled her eyes before setting them on Beast Boy. The shape-shifter was stock-still, arms ridged at his sides. "I need to borrow Beast Boy for a minute."
"U-uh," Beast Boy swallowed, shuffling his feet. He was looking somewhat pale. "A-are you sure, 'cause I'm kinda busy…" The boy looked at the others. "…Doing nothing?" Raven blinked at him, and Beast Boy gave in. "Alright, take me away."
Robin and Cyborg watched in amazement as Raven and Beast Boy entered the ops room together, the Titan leader managing to catch a glance of the girls smiling within before the doors shut himself and Cyborg out. Cyborg threw his hands in the air. "Are you kiddin'?! I've been tryin' so hard to get in and BB just gets invited to the sleepover?! What's this world comin' to?!"
Robin tapped his chin, replaying and deciphering the scene in his mind. "I don't know Cyborg; he didn't seem too pleased about going in."
The robotic teenager realized Robin had a point. "Well, I guess. Considerin' how Raven's been so weird around him today, I wouldn't blame the kid. But man! That dude is so lucky!"
"Welcome to your doom, Beast Boy," Jinx chuckled as Raven silently walked the shape-shifter into the pillow-infested room. The trio of girls was seated in an arc, Raven's place empty at the moment because of her fetching her green teammate. Beast Boy swallowed, paling worse than before.
Bumblebee elbowed the pink sorceress in the ribs, cutting off Jinx's laughter. "Oh, cut it out girl. He has no idea what's going on, and I'm sure that's not makin' him feel any better." Jinx rolled her eyes, uncaring, but she kept her mouth shut for the moment. Starfire gave Beast Boy a smile, but it was one that had sympathy written all over it, whereas the grin Bumblebee wore was mischievous through-and-through. The green Titan swallowed again until his throat was dry and then waved.
"Uh, 'sup girls?" he asked.
"Well Beast Boy," Bumblebee replied, leaning back on her pillow, "it's about high time you find out." She nodded to the empath beside him. "Raven?"
Raven was silent when she faced him, causing Beast Boy to obey his instincts in retreating a few steps. "Uh, Rae? Please tell me this doesn't have to do anything with before…?" Bumblebee pursed her lips thoughtfully. Before? What had happened before? Still, she didn't say anything concerning it, for Raven was moving toward Beast Boy again. The dark girl cupped her hands around one of his pointed ears, leaning forward.
"Hold up!" Jinx stopped the empath, pointing at her in accusation. Raven gave the pink girl a questioning stare, and Jinx shook her head. "You can't whisper it! You have to say it aloud so we can all hear!"
Raven spoke for the first time since Beast Boy had entered the room. "You never said that."
"Well, I'm saying it now!"
Beast Boy, getting the sensation that he was about as stuck as a rat in a trap, called out in a thin, wiry voice. "Uh, whisper what? Say what? Dudes?" His question was not answered, instead ignored while the first problem was addressed.
Jinx's eyes flared. "If Raven isn't going to follow the rules, then she's going to have to take another punishment." The pink sorceress seemed to have forgotten all about Beast Boy's being there, but he was already too lost to follow what was happening. Raven opened her mouth to snap back a retort, but to everyone's surprise, Starfire interjected first.
"Please friends, allow this to pass," she beseeched, looking at each of them. "I wish that, the circumstances being given, Raven will be allowed permission to whisper." Jinx and Bumblebee grumbled, both unwilling to agree, and Starfire lowered her voice. "If friend Raven is being forced to do the 'rushing into things' then I implore you to permit her to whisper it if she wishes."
Starfire was too convincing with her sweet tone and persuasive words, so at last Jinx and Bumblebee backed down, agreeing to Raven's wish to receive the little amount of privacy. Sighing, Raven adjusted her feet, facing Beast Boy again. He looked terrified and almost ready to pass out. No doubt the repercussions that could come from his actions in the hallway many minutes ago were racing through his mind, not to mention the poor boy was as discombobulated as a person could get due to the recent conversation he'd just witnessed. Still, no one could ignore the burning that enflamed his cheeks when Raven put one hand on his arm, lifting the other to his ear afterwards. Shutting the watching audience out, Raven took a deep breath and inclined forward. She murmured quietly into Beast Boy's ear, her face hidden by her palm. Jinx, Bumblebee, and even curious Starfire waited with restrained anticipation for the green Titan's reaction.
Naturally the first expression that Beast Boy took on was one of confusion. "Do what?"
Raven mumbled behind her hand again.
This time Beast Boy seemed to understand what she'd said as clear as day. His mouth parted to some extent, eyes widening at the same time. The teenager's face became one of pure incredulity and like that of a tomato it was so red. He blinked several times, ears twitching repeatedly as if to make sure he'd heard right. "Then-then that means you're not-?" Beast Boy stammered, pulling back from Raven so he could look her straight on. He was the only one in the room to see that her cheeks were bright rose red too. The girl shook her head. Beast Boy's canine tooth glinted. "And earlier with the-?" Another shake.
Starfire, Bumblebee, and Jinx blinked, captivated by the enthralling scene like it was a movie, on the edge of their seats to watch what would happen next. There was a moment of silence where the only standing Titans were left staring at each other. It was broken seconds later, however, when Beast Boy whooped suddenly without warning and tackled the unsuspecting empath in an enormous hug. Raven had been caught in complete unawares, and, losing her balance, tumbled backwards to disappear in the sea of pillows with Beast Boy. The couple emerged as soon as they collected their bearings to find the observing three girls in a fit of laughter. Raven glared at the majority as Beast Boy turned to her.
"This isn't like a joke, right?" he asked quietly so the other girls couldn't hear. His expression was wide with hope. "'Cause that'd be really really really mean if it is. And it'd kinda hurt. A lot."
"It's not a joke," Raven promised, picking herself out of the pillows. "I promise." She freed herself, pausing to give him one of her rare smiles. The scarce show of even the of smallest affections was convincing enough for Beast Boy, and, grinning, he likewise hopped out of the pillows.
"And you're really not mad at me because… in the hall when I…?" Somehow saying it aloud was almost more embarrassing than the action itself, and Raven shook her head again, blushing.
"Did what?!" Bumblebee cried, surprising everyone in the room by her outburst. The leader ignored their stares, looking at Raven pointedly for an explanation. After a moment, Jinx and Starfire also turned to the dark girl in interest.
The empath returned the expression, her face once more a stone slate. Beast Boy, however, was her opposite, more like an open book and flushing madly at Bumblebee's question, his eyes focused on anything except the girls. Jinx's gaze flickered between Raven and Beast Boy several times, and then her jaw dropped. "No. Way."
Starfire tilted her head in silent inquiry, but Bumblebee didn't even bother being patient or quiet with her question. "What?!"
Jinx closed her mouth, only to let it fall open once more as she tried to grasp her mind around it. Eventually she'd had enough of her gaping and forced a few words out. "You… two…," she gasped, pointing at Beast Boy and Raven, the calm girl's mouth a line close to curving up. Jinx squinted in disbelief. "No. Way. You-You got a kiss?!"
"What?!" Bumblebee squeaked, outraged as she realized she was the lone Titan not to complete her given task. And ironically, she had been the one to come up with the idea in the first place. "Are you serious?!" Raven shared a glance with Beast Boy, the green teenager helpless to stop the wide grin that made its way onto his face when their eyes met, and together they nodded. Upon seeing this paired with hearing that Raven had indeed received a kiss from Beast Boy, Starfire wasted no time in offering her congratulations. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in Raven and Beast Boy -this time accompanied by Starfire- trapped in a large hug and landing in the pillow piles once again.
"My friends, I am so happy for both of you!" the alien princess laughed, gliding up in the sky out of sheer joy as her teammates detangled themselves from the cushions. "How glorious! Now Robin and I will be able to do the 'double date'!"
Back on her feet, Raven was massaging her temples. "Starfire, I am still in the middle of the last thing you wanted to try. Let's finish the sleepover before considering anything like that." Beast Boy seemed just as relieved as the empath when Starfire reluctantly nodded, floating down to her friends' sides once again.
Jinx had long since recovered from her shock and was back in a mischievous mood. "So, I think we're gonna need proof of this little smooch you shared." She lifted an eyebrow at them, and Raven and Beast Boy probably would have died right there and then had Bumblebee not interrupted.
"Hang on, first off we gotta know if you two are dating now or not. What're the plans for the future?" she pried, smirking, for she knew of Raven's discomfort when it came to such subjects. Sure enough, the dark sorceress cleared her throat.
"As I said to Starfire, let's finish the sleepover before considering anything else," she stated, sitting down on her sleeping bag, and Raven felt grateful when Beast Boy agreed without question. They didn't want to rush anything quite yet; that is, besides what they'd already unintentionally rushed into. The group settled into a more relaxed state, leaning back against pillows and cushions to adjust into more comfortable positions. Beast Boy, finding that he was deprived of a seat, glanced at the door.
Jinx snorted. "Come on now, BB. You can stay; just cuddle up next to your girlfriend there. We won't bite."
"You sure?" Beast Boy asked, scratching his head but wearing a smile, and the teenager lowered himself next to Raven. He sat with his arm brushing up against hers; a courageous move considering Raven's personal bubble was about five feet wide and he was popping it. She said nothing about it, however, not even trying to lean away from him and just placed her pillow back into her lap.
Jinx set her sights on Bumblebee, a dangerous magical glint in her eye. The leader saw it and she grabbed her blanket, falling back onto her sleeping bag. "Well, happy ending. Getting tired. Night!"
"Oh no you don't!" Jinx snatched the sheet, flinging it off to the side. Bumblebee glowered at her, knowing what was coming just as much as the pink sorceress did. "It's your turn! Did you or did you not complete the deal?!"
Bumblebee huffed, sitting up irritably. She bit into her lip with frustration, grunting, "No." Jinx's face split into a broad grin, but before she could say anything, Beast Boy interrupted. He knew he should have stayed silent, being permitted to stay in the forbidden sleepover that no other male had managed to enter, but curiosity was always one of his greatest weaknesses.
"What deal?"
Everyone turned to Raven, and the empath blinked. "Why me?"
Jinx frowned. "He's your boyfriend."
Raven and Beast Boy colored at the word, and the former cleared her throat. "We never-."
"'Course not," Jinx sighed, shaking her head. She rocked back and forth on her knees for a moment and then faced Beast Boy. "Fine, I'll tell him. It's not like it matters anymore since Rob already knows and the rest of us have completed it. Listen up, greenie." Beast Boy's ears lowered at the nickname but paid attention anyways as Jinx explained. "At the last sleepover while you guys were trying to eavesdrop on us and doing a terrible job at it, we all had a little girl talk about who we liked. Bumblebee over here-," –the pink sorceress jerked her thumb at the Titans East leader-, "-came up with the idea that we all do something about these feelings. Bee, Raven, and me all had to get a kiss from the guy we liked and Star had to get Rob's mask off."
Beast Boy blinked, absorbing the information. Starfire's face was burning at his learning of her agreement to the deal while Raven stared at the ground, waiting for Beast Boy's reaction. Had it been her in his place, she would have been furious. It would have felt like a sham, like she was being used in a way to complete the foolish deal. The girl didn't blame Beast Boy if he thought the same way.
Beast Boy never ceased to surprise her. "Guess I have good timing then, huh?" he laughed, rubbing the back of his head with flushed cheeks. Raven lifted her head in surprise, meeting his eyes. Seeing her questioning expression, Beast Boy shrugged, smirking shyly, and his darker teammate dropped her gaze to the ground.
"I expected you to be angry. Disappointed at least," she admitted, shifting her head to the side. "I would be."
"Why would I be mad?" Beast Boy asked, surprised. "It was just a game."
Raven grimaced. "It wasn't the most mature of actions that I took."
Grinning, Beast Boy snorted. "You're talking about mature with me?" Jinx, Bumblebee, and even Starfire had to agree with his point there, and Raven smiled a little, ever so faintly brushing her fingers against Beast Boy's gloves. A beam crept onto the shape-shifter's face, feeling pleased with his reward for making the empath gratified.
"So you're not mad?" Raven clarified, her sights fixated on the pillows nearby. She blinked, finding the boy to have vanished without warning and leaving a small green cat in his place. Purring, he crawled onto the scarlet pillow in Raven's lap, curling into a circle and tickling her legs with his fur. Raven's heated face was the worst it had been all night, causing the other girls to laugh harder than before at her reaction to the intimate gesture.
"I'd say that's a no, he's not," Jinx snickered, wiping a cheerful tear from the corner of her eye. Raven ignored them as best she could, and when the others finally turned their attention back to Bumblebee, the dark sorceress glanced down. Beast Boy was looking up at her with big green eyes, his tail flicking back and forth. He kneaded the red pillow thoughtfully, tilting his head in question; both of them recognized the small cushion. Raven shook her head a little, too small for anyone else to see, and reached next to him to scratch behind his ear. The kitten leaned into her palm, purring, and settled down once more, eyes shutting peacefully. Raven's expression softened, but no one saw it. They were all too busy addressing Bumblebee.
"Alrighty Bee, it's time for the consequences. Ready to accept them?" Jinx inquired, cracking her knuckles in preparation.
Bumblebee held out her hand. "Hey now, this isn't fair. How come I'm the only one getting punished?"
"Were you not the only one to not complete the given task?" Starfire questioned. "And Raven even accepted her 'punishment' despite her achievement."
"Yeah, I guess," Bumblebee snapped, glaring at Jinx. "I just don't like the look that pixie is giving me."
"Muah, ha, ha," Jinx teased, sticking her tongue at the leader. "So, let's do this thing." She pondered the punishment, tapping her lip. The pink girl had just opened her mouth to suggest an idea when Bumblebee beat her to it.
The Titans East leader grunted, standing. "I guess I'll go tell Sparky how I feel then," she sighed. On Raven's lap, Beast Boy's nose twitched, the single sign that he was listening. Raven ran her palm over his ears, wondering how they could still be cute even in cat form.
"No," the empath requested quietly so not to wake the nearly slumbering kitten. All open eyes turned to her, and Raven lifted an eyebrow at Bumblebee. "You can tell him if you want, but that's not your task."
Bumblebee quirked her eyebrow as well. "It's not?" Jinx, noting the face Raven wore, crawled to the darker girl's side. Starfire joined them, not bothering to fight her curiosity, and listened in as Raven murmured to her and Jinx. Jinx's smile grew into that of a Cheshire cat's. Bumblebee swallowed; if she hadn't been unnerved before, she most certainly was by now. What was it with that pink sorceress's ability to look like a mischievous sprite? It was almost as scary as the fact that Starfire was smiling too, even if hers was happy instead of naughty.
Jinx rubbed her hands together, eyes bright with excitement. "Oh, that is so not your task."
The Titans East leader swiveled her head back and forth over the girls, almost afraid to ask. "…What is then?"
Jinx smiled at Raven, and the empath nodded for her to do the honors. After all, this was what the pink teenager had been waiting for. She crossed her arms, grinning. "Your punishment is that you are going to have to let Cyborg beat you at everything for the rest of the week. Be just as competitive as you usually are, but instead of winning all the time, you're going to lose. If you win any match, we'll just have to come up with another punishment for you."
Bumblebee stared at Jinx, jaw wide open from shock at the unfairness of it all. Lose? The word was not in her vocabulary. And to Sparky? She grumbled quietly to herself phrases that were no doubt crude, increasing in speed as she went. After she'd gotten her anger out with her language and then also on a poor unfortunate pillow nearby that was now ripped in half, the leader took a deep breath. Her sights flickered to the alien princess next to her, watching the scene. "Starfire? You can't agree to this," she implored, close to begging. "You objected to Raven's punishment, so why not mine?"
The beautiful teenager smiled softly, folding her legs underneath. "I apologize, but this task does seem to be quite satisfying. Cyborg will be most pleased and no one is being embarrassed beyond the repair."
Bumblebee cursed under her breath again, kicking at the ruined pillow with no effect.
"If it makes you feel any better, he does like you," Raven said, rubbing the dozing cat's back.
"What?!" Bumblebee instantly whipped her head to the empath. "Cyborg-? You knew about this and you didn't tell me?!"
Starfire hesitantly spoke up as well. "I offer my regret; I too was aware of Cyborg's feelings."
The Titans East leader's irritated expression faltered as she recalled similar information coming into her possession. She rubbed the back of her head, clearing her throat. "Well, I suppose that's okay… I can't really blame you two from keepin' it from me, 'cause I kinda knew about BB likin' you too, Raven… Or, at least was told he probably did. Sparky," she explained, seeing the prompting looks from the other girls. Bumblebee smiled, shaking her head. "He comes up with these premonitions all the time. I suppose I can credit him with being right this one time."
"You'll have to credit him more than once after this," Jinx snickered, scratching the side of her nose.
Bumblebee darkened again for a moment, but Raven distracted her. "I suppose we're even then."
The taller girl stared at the empath and then smirked. "Yeah, I guess so. Maybe it won't be so bad to lose once in a while; besides, I'll get to spend more time with Sparky this way."
"That is 'the spirit'," Starfire urged, happy things were all well with the world once more. She suddenly let out a loud yawn, smiling bashfully once it had finished. As if it were a reminder, her teammates abruptly became aware of how fast time had gone by, each feeling the tug of sleep. A small content mewl escaped Beast Boy's slumbering cat form, and the girls glanced at him, Raven blushing when they saw she was still stroking his back.
"Isn't that cute?" Jinx cooed in a joshing tone, and she pressed her two clutching hands to the side of her face. "He's so precious. But, aw, what a shame we're going to have to wake him up so he can go back to his own room." Jinx reached a hand out only to be stopped cold by the glare Raven shot at the sorceress. It read something along the lines of 'Wake him up and I will throw you out the window.' Jinx retreated, palms out. "Alright, alright, I was kidding. He can stay."
All that was left for the girls to do was unzip their sleeping bags and turn out the lights. This took but a minute, and soon the teenagers were left in the dark, some already snoring before their heads hit the many pillows around them. After lifting Beast Boy's purring form off of her lap, Raven took up her position at the edge of the group. Beast Boy had stirred but a little, rolling onto his side and batting at invisible yarn.
