Blaze walked up to Lizy. She tried to struggle but the ropes tying her to the chair prevented her moving. His goonies surrounded her with monstrous looks on their faces. Her screams for help were muffled by the gag on her mouth. All she could do was watch helplessly as the heartless jerks crept closer and closer to her.

"You're all mine girlie. Nobody can save you now." Blaze menaced and reached out to grab her. Suddenly a door slammed open and there was a flash, followed by silence.

Lizy's eyes snapped open. She tried to shift but winced when a shot of pain coursed through her. Confused, she looked around. It was nighttime and she was on a wooden bench, in what was presumably a park. Something was covering her body but she couldn't tell what. A crack of a stick echoed and she turned her head.

"Good, you're awake." Bakura said.

The events of the fight came back to her. The last thing she remembered was slamming into the ground and watching Bakura take everyone out at once with the Millennium Ring. "Of course I am. Where are we?"

"Lance Park." He responded, moving to beside the bench.

"Okay, weren't we just in the middle of downtown?"

"Good to see your memory is still intact."

"Alright, I'll be more specific, what exactly happened after I blacked-out?"

"I thought it best to relocate out of the area, so I transported you here." He responded vaguely.

Something seemed very off to Lizy. Bakura was somehow acting strange. "Are you feeling alright?"

Bakura grunted. "That was nothing. Mere amateurs."

"You took quite a beating. You sure they were 'just' amateurs?"

"In big numbers even idiots can have an advantage."

There was a moment of silence. Lizy didn't really know how to respond. She could sense aggravation in his voice, and that he was avoiding something. Maybe if she tried a different approach.

"Either way, that doesn't answer my question. Are you alri-OW!" She yowled as another stronger shot of pain resonated from her arm. Her other hand instinctively went to hold the injury but Bakura slapped it away.

"Keep still." He instructed then pulled back whatever was on top of her, revealing her arm. The fresh wound on her arm was bandaged up but was starting to bleed again. He took from his pocket a white roll of bandages and began to wrap more around her arm.

Lizy watched silently stunned. He worked with more speed and precision than she would've ever expected from him. Frankly, the fact that he was helping her at all was a surprise. Bakura finished up and pulled back over the black cloth. Upon closer inspection she realized that what was covering her was Bakura's trench coat!

"There, don't move that arm." He closed his eyes and sighed, then jumped back a little when Lizy touched his forehead. "What was that for?"

"Are you sick?" She looked at him with concern.

"No, what ma-?"

"Do you have a concussion?"

"No, now why-?"

"Any type of head trauma? You hit your head pretty hard."

"No I don't! What are you ranting on about?"

She scanned over him and tried to find a logical explanation for his kindness. This was not normal for him. He had to have a secret motive.

"Why are you helping me?" Lizy asked.

Bakura stood there for a moment. Then he let out a huff and smirked. "Don't flatter yourself," he crossed his arms, "I can't get answers from a dead person, can I?"

Lizy rolled her eyes. Figures…the day Bakura was truly selfless was the day she got superpowers…Oh wait… (A/N- Get it, because she got the ability to talk to anime-boy? Huh, huh? *Crickets* Okay… *Goes to mopping corner and mopes with laptop*)

"Are you physically incapable of showing appreciation? Last time I checked I bought your pale-ass time to recovery from those attacks. That ear wasn't exactly chocolate-coated you know!"

"I was more than capable of saving myself." He barked defensively.

"Uh-huh, sure, that's why you got sent sprawling TWICE, and would've gotten kicked to a pulp had it not been for me."

"If I hadn't been there you wouldn't have stood a chance!"

"If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have been there in the first place!"

Bakura once again paused. This time, HE was the one becoming flustered.

Lizy took notice to this. It didn't feel entirely right, but with him any chance was fair. Despite the pain, she pushed herself to sit up so she had more stature. "And if you were so capable of saving yourself why didn't you use the Ring in the first place? That would've saved both of us a lot of time and pain!"

"I don't have to explain myself to you. Be grateful I helped at all!" He shouted in her face.

"What is bugging you so much?! You're getting way over-defensive!" She huffed at him. This type of arguing felt helpless and she wanted some control in it.

The distressed teen started to pace back and forth. Something was definitely eating away at him. What could possibly be bothering him so much? Lizy was really starting to get worried.

"Why do you even bloody care?" He sneered back.

"Do I really need a reason? Stop being a hot-head and tell me!"

He stopped pacing and faced her. "For God's sake, I didn't need you getting hurt! If I would've let loose that energy that soon you could've gotten hit by it." He took a breath and calmed down. "I needed to size them up and wait for the right moment. Last thing I needed was to slip and get more problems."

Lizy was quiet for a moment. Could it be possible that he…cared? No, that was impossible. His motives were purely so he could still get his answers. No way he felt empathy for her. "That's it? What was so hard about saying that?"

"The fact that I needed to worry about your safety was unexpected and I didn't have any other choice. Don't let this go to your head." He told her sternly.

"Don't worry, I wasn't expecting to be jacked by thugs either." She sighed. "We may be rivals, but even rivals sometimes have to work together."

He snickered. "Please, a true rival doesn't cling on to the other rival when in danger."

Lizy pouted, remembering grabbing onto his arm out of fear when the gang showed up. "Nothing gets past you does it?"

Bakura grinned. "Nope, and that's why you can count on me cracking the truth out of you Mystery Girl."

"And likewise, you can count on me being a stubborn-ass and not letting you win." She smiled and let out a small laugh. Suddenly a sharp pain throbbed in her head, making her double over and clutch her temples.

Bakura semi-rushed to her side and knocked her hands out of the way. Before she could ask what he was doing he placed his own hands where hers were and closed his eyes. The ring began to glow and she felt instant relief.

"I might not have gotten a head injury, but seems you did." He explained.

"I'll be fine." She once again pouted, mad that there was one more injury to heal.

"Yeah, but it will take a hell of a lot longer to heal naturally."

Lizy felt a weird sensation start to run through her head and pushed Bakura's hands away; which caused it to stop. "What are you doing?"

"Aiding your body's healing process is a lot easier without having to hide it."

Lizy interrupted with a, "Hmph." Her suspicions that he was the reason of her leg's fast recovery confirmed.

He paused. "Anyway, either you can trust me to heal you faster and give you a speedy recovery, or you can reject my offer and spend days recovering and at my mercy. Your choice."

She frowned. "How can I know I can trust you?"

"You'll just have to believe me."

She sighed. Either way she was in possible trouble. Nothing less from Bakura. "Fine, I'll let you. But if you try something funny I'm not holding back."

"Somehow I don't think I would have to worry." Bakura smirked and dodged a swipe from Lizy.

"I'm not that weak you know!"

"But you're also a girl."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

Bakura suddenly swept her from the bench and had her in his arms bridal style. "It means as much as you let it."

Lizy looked at him puzzled. "Do you just act crazier at night, or has the cold gotten to you?"

"A little bit of both. I do love a bitter cold night."

"Matches perfect with your heart…" She mumbled and laughed.

"Do you want me to make you walk with that twisted ankle you didn't even notice?"

She raised an eyebrow. "Let's just get back. You're acting too happy for my liking."

He looked her in the eye. "Why, does it scare you?"

"No, but even a semi-cheerful Bakura is creepy and enough cause for alarm in two towns over."

"At least your judgment isn't completely damaged. Alright, let's go." He started walking forward.

Lizy held on to the black trench coat in her arms. The heat coming from Bakura's body was enough to keep her warm. One thing was for sure, this had been one hell of a night; for both of them. She saw sides of Bakura that she didn't know existed. Also, even though she knew they would never agree on it out loud, they supported each other when they needed it.

She knew it wasn't over though. He was catching on to her, and only time would tell how long it would take for him to crack it. The pieces would fall into place for both of them eventually, and until they did everything would continue to seem strange and not normal.

Lizy would have to continue down the bumpy road while balancing Bakura and the solving the puzzle herself of why she was here. She could only hope that things would start to become clear.

"Hey Bakura?"

"Yeah?"

"You know, for a demented kitty, you fight good." With that she slipped off to sleep.
