Chapter 13: The end of the battle

Henry's POV

"Henry, you and Pegasi open the gates!" Aslan commands.

Pegasi nodded as the winged horse flew over the gates and landed roughly. Around us was something that sent shivers down my spine. It was like the meadow where Mr. Beaver's friends were casted in stone. However here there were hardly animals. No, inside the White Witches castle were the stone statues of Narnia's most powerful creatures and warriors. Centaurs armed frozen in a stance to slay their opponent. Fauns running for their lives or begging as their faces cover in pain. Predator animals in mid-stance of pouncing their prey, roaring. And such more. It is cold and downright sad.

Pegasi neighed at me to get off to open the gates. Shaking my head from the sorrows, I got down and went to the gates finding the chains rusty if not the door lock. So grabbing my blade, I got into position and swung at the chains with all my might. Next thing that happen the chains broke and doors swung open. Aslan, Lucy, and Susan entered as the girls gasped at the sadness that decorates this garden.

Lucy walked faster compare to the rest of us. Susan tried to keep up with her while I walk beside Aslan. The great lion held a sad look in his eyes seeing his family frozen in time by the hands of the White Witch.

"What a weird place," Lucy mumbled. "It's like a museum."

"Why stone?" I asked.

"For Jadis heart is cold as ice and the dark magic in her wand prevents the person to continue." Aslan said. "The most painful torture than death is lost between alive and dead."

"So they are alive?" I asked again.

"Yes, Son of Adam," Aslan confirmed. "Though inside they are in deep pain."

The girls stopped in front of a statue in tears. There in front of them was a faun in begging stance, arms out to defend himself. His mouth is open; eyes cringed, as if he was screaming. What made him different from the armor fauns is that his horns were trimmed, and wore a scarf.

Mr. Tumnus, I thought.

I felt sad that is what has happen to our dear goat friend. How he once serve the White Witch only to betray her to save his friends. Lucy and I being human and the guilt he held. He chose to spare us instead of having us kidnapped and turned to stone by the evil witch's hand. Yet I felt sorry that this happened.

Aslan walk over to Mr. Tumnus and breathed on the faun. His strong breath caused the stone curls to waver like normal hair. A moment later, the dark grey slowly faded as Mr. Tumnus came back to life from his stone prison. Color repairing on his flesh and fur, his breathes raged yet hungrily taking gulps of air. You can easily hear the stone cracking. When the transformation was complete, Mr. Tumnus collapsed though luckily Lucy caught him in time. They look into each other's eyes and started laughing.

"Lucy, daughter of Eve . . . you came back." He panted.

"Susan, this is . . ." Lucy started greeting our faun friend.

"Mr. Tumnus!" Susan praised and hugged him.

I turn to face Aslan who continue his mission in freeing his people. One by one he breathed on them turning back to their original state. Everyone stumbling from their confines confused, others gasping, while others adjusted their armor bowing to Aslan.

Soon Aslan walk over to a stone giant whose arms are in the air.

"Is he safe?" I asked.

"Oh yes," Aslan assured. "Once the feet are put right the rest of him will follow."

"That is not exactly what I meant." I muttered.

Aslan chuckled before taking a rather large deep breath and blowing on the stone giant for a long period of time. Several minutes later the giant lowered his arms confused trying to figure out where he is. "Bless me. I must've fallen asleep. Now, where is that dratted little witch gone too? She was running about on the ground."

"She had a magic wand and turned you to stone." Lucy explained loudly.

"Eh, what's that?" he asked.

"Turned you to stone!" Aslan repeated. "And I just restored you."

The giant stood there in disbelieve before laughing at that. Probably he is a big giant and he got himself defeated by his perspective of a small witch.

"Come, we must hurry and search the castle." Aslan ordered. "Peter will need everyone we can find."

Agnes POV

I shot an arrow at a goblin killing him in the chest. Everything had made a far turn for the worst that it is impossible to stop and breathe. All around us the enemy was everywhere. The Narnians who represent for Aslan are growing tired from the sheer numbers of Jadis's army. One by one, at a rapid rate Jadis is turning the soldiers into stone, and most horribly smashing them to the ground. There is no hope to resurrect those destroyed into oblivion pieces.

Peter slayed a troll before turning around facing me.

"There's too many," I shouted through the chaos.

"I know," Peter said, stabbing another opponent.

"We need to retreat," I called backed, shooting down an ugly creature that I had knowledge of its name.

Peter debated on this till he notices Jadis coming towards us. Up in the sky two griffins swooped down trying to snatch her. Unfortunately she stabbed one turning him to stone before it smashed into the boulder, dead. Peter saw this and nodded as he looked at Edmund, we were too deep in the battle field to escape. Yet Edmund had an opening to escape. It was the best thing we could do for our family to be safe.

"Edmund! There's too many!" Peter shouted. "Get out of here! Get the others and get them home!"

Edmund wanted to argue however Mr. Beaver grabbed his hand and yanked the boy to safety. Knowing Edmund would be safe, I grabbed another arrow and fire it at the closes creature charging at me. A Minotaur came up from behind wrapping his muscular arm around my neck, except I took an arrow and stabbed it into his muzzle. He roars in pain letting me go. Quickly I grabbed another arrow, knocking it on the bow string and fired getting him on the jugular.

When I loaded another arrow to shoot again, a sound of bone cracking caught my attention. I turned around aiming my bow at Jadis who stood there in disbelief. Her green eyes widen to see me as if seeing a ghost. In fight the wand in her hand seemed to be strangle by the amount of anger fueled in her system

"Never have I thought Franks kin be in my presence again." Jadis hissed. She swung her sword, luckily I dodge the blow trying to get away. Yet the witch continues to strike unable to get up: only to lunged or roll in the dirt. "You mere mortals have no place in Narnia. Even Frank V knew of the outcome as well as Swanwhite II. You are all a waste of power."

I swing my bow in attempt to trip her though she stomped on it. I growled trying to fight her off except she stomped on my stomach. "And atlas, I put an end to the cabby boy line."

The wand made contact to my chest freezing my heart like ice. Fast in a quick blast of wind my body turned to stone from the inside out. The last thing I saw before everything turned dark was Edmund jumping on Jadis destroying her wand.

Only he was too late.

Third POV

Peter was in disbelief as he saw the occurrence that has happen. When he finished fighting a Minotaur he saw Agnes in conflict with Jadis as the witch swing constantly at her while the young maiden avoided the blows. It was impossible for Agnes to fight Jadis knowing her weapon has no ill effect on the witch. As of result Jadis pinned Agnes down and aimed her wand at the girl's chest. In a blink of an eye, the girl turned to stone. A statue laying on its back with one arm in defense.

"Agnes!" Peter yelled.

Next thing that happen Edmund jumped in swinging his sword. Jadis spun around glaring at the traitor king. She stabbed her wand forward anticipating turning the Son of Adam to stone. Edmund stepped back in time and swung his sword downward destroying the witch's wand, cutting it in half. A bright burst of light animated from the crystal portion losing its magic. Jadis green eyes widen in shock before narrowing as she released an inhuman growled. She pulled back the wand and stabbed Edmund in the abdomen, penetrating both chainmail and leather. The boy released a gasped collapsing to the ground.

"Edmund!" Peter exclaimed.

The future king witnesses his brother and friend killed by Jadis. The White Witch smirks in approval, killing two birds with one stone. She turned around to face Peter who charged at her with furry. Only glee filled her soul to put an end towards the prophecy.

"Time to die, little king." Jadis murmured.

The two enter into combat not knowing reinforcement is arriving.

Henry's POV

After searching the White Witch's castle, all the Narnians who have been free ran all their might to the battle front. I rode on Pegasi with a head start seeing the outnumbered battle. All of Aslan's army were trying to retreat, or being killed, or stuck in a cross fire.

Aslan ran faster till reaching the top of the hill and roared. Everyone in the battle field stopped fighting to see Aslan in bewilderment. Follow by the reinforcement we brought from the witch's castle. I saw Peter and the White Witch fighting but couldn't see my sister or Edmund. Did they evacuate from the sight? I hope so.

Everyone charged into battle defeating the witch's army. Pegasi lunged forward as I swung my sword injuring enemy in the shoulders or knocking them off their feet. The battle raged on till the witches army started to retreat to once they came. When Pegasi landed near where Peter was facing Aslan. Behind Aslan laid the witch dead.

It's over, I thought relieved.

Lucy and Susan ran up to Peter giving him a hug as he hugged back. I got off of Pegasi looking for Agnes but couldn't find her.

"Agnes!" I called out running around the battle front trying to find her. "Agnes!"

Tears filled my eyes for I can't find her anywhere. "Agnes!"

I turned around one of the boulders till finding my older sister. Lying on the ground as a statue was Agnes. Her body completely made out of stone as her left arm reached out, bent slightly to protect her. Her face showed no sign of pain, yet her eyes that were emotionless were wide.

"Agnes!" I cried kneeling down hugging her rock form.

No, this can't be happening. How can Agnes be stone? As I cried I realized how much she meant to me as my sister. All the work she put in to protect me from my condition, my fun, and adventure. To make sure I had everything in life no matter the cost. She is my big sister who has been there for me.

"Agnes, please no." I sobbed, wanting her arms to hold me. "Please are you still in there."

We only have we each other, just me and you. I thought, as memories came to mind. "Ag . . .nes."

"Don't forget, Son of Adam," Aslan said standing behind me. "She is still alive, only frozen on the outside."

"Oh, please Aslan," I begged him. "Please bring her back."

The lion chuckled, "The love you two share can thaw all the troubles."

He took a deep breath and blow on Agnes. At first nothing happen till the stone started to crack and the fabric flex flat on the ground. Next Agnes head was free as her face relaxed, taking a gasp of air for the first time. She fully collapsed to the ground breathing heavily though that didn't stop me from hugging her in mid-transformation.

"Agnes!" I cheered.

She stumbled then chuckled hugging me back for dear life while one hand tangle in my ginger hair, "Oh Henry, you're safe. Thank god!"

"No, thank Aslan." I corrected.

"I think both shall do just fine." Aslan murmured.

We look at him confused, except the mighty lion winced at us as if he was holding a secret. Once Agnes regains herself she sat up to look around to discover the battle is done. The Pevensies were across from the open area holding each other till holding the same idea . . . what now. Aslan suggested we help aid the wounded soldiers for there are a lot to do.

Agnes POV

By the late afternoon all of the Narnians return to Aslan camp. A lot of people were injured yet continue onward like nothing has happen. Mrs. Beaver treated the wounded while Mr. Beaver helped her, the best he could. Oreius walked around with arm in a sling for dislocating his shoulder, luckily the damage the witch inflicted on him turn to stone chipped his armor.

From the aftermath of 1500 soldiers in Aslan army, six hundred where turns to stone while four hundred were killed in battled. Even with the extra seven hundred soldiers that were free from Jadis's castle, it doesn't help the fact that lives were lost. Many spent the time to gather the dead so for tomorrow we could burry or cremate them depending on the species culture of a funeral.

I sat with Susan and Lucy who sharing a canteen mumbling someone. Across from our tent the boys stood there by Aslan tent as Edmund knelt on his knees holding his sword. Alas, another Pevensie being knighted again. Now there are two knights of Narnia. But not for long.

"Does he know what Aslan has done for him?" Lucy asked Susan which the sister shushes him. "But does he know the arrangement with the witch really was?"

"Of course not," Susan scolded.

"But would he be told?" Lucy asked.

"No Lucy, it would be awful for him. " Susan said. "Think how you feel if it were you."

"What are you two mumbling about?" I asked.

"It's something Aslan done to save Edmund." Lucy said.

"Does this involve Aslan suppose death?" I asked again.

Both girls nodded, though Susan asked me to never tell Edmund or Peter why Aslan died at the Stone table. Only his sacrifice was for Narnia in general, not Edmund. I sighed and nodded. Knowing those two blocks they take their information seriously, especially an emotional one.

After the knighting ceremony Aslan summon all of his people to gather around for future plans.

"Friends of the great battle, we shall sleep here tonight and tomorrow for Cair Paravel where the prophecy will be fulfilled." Aslan said.

Everyone cheered for:

Adam's flesh and Adam's bone,

Sits at Cair Paravel in throne,

The evil time will be over and done.

As the Golden Age Prophecy foretold.
