Chapter 16: The Golden Age

And so the season pass and the years pass and all of Narnia grows in gratitude to its young rulers. They made good laws and kept the peace and save good trees from being cut down. They are all loved.

The stoic warrior High King Peter, the Magnificent, of the clear Northern Sky protected Narnia with much of his power. Beside him, his lovely wife High Queen Agnes the Sharp, of the River Rush and all river lands. The two have grown up as friends and comrades in the battlefront. Slowly there feeling blossomed, however both were stubborn to admit it. When Archenland decided to set a arrange marriage to unite the kingdoms Peter seemed to decline. So is his sister set a grand ball for him to find him a bride? Who would have thought the fair maiden dressed as a fairy be his commander of the Archers. Approved by king Lune for the uniting the Frank blood line the two married within the fortnight.

Queen Susan the Gentle, of the radiant Southern Sun. Her beauty so fair, that she has become the fairest of all the maidens. With ebony hair reaching down to her ankle, pale skin as a new born child, and elegant smile to woo all species. Loved by all, though her heart belongs to her family and people to whom they stay now and forever.

King Edmund the Just, of the Western Woods. His missions and campaign have united and set truths to all the countries around Narnia. Uniting the Lone Islands being his most succeeded campaign of all times and continue onward. Especially earning his tittle of Emperor of Chess.

Queen Lucy the Valiant, of the glistening Eastern Sea, and her dear husband Lord Henry Cleves, the Brave, Duke of the Valley of the Winds. True love indeed for our youngest friends. Since the beginning walking through the Wardrobe in the land of Spare Oom, our two adventurers never seems to end. By the time they were fifteen emotions flair and courtship began. They married on their twentieth age and Narnia was please to such love between the two.

The Golden Age of Narnia has lasted for fifteen years. Although there had been conflicts with the Calormens and Giants of Ettinsmoor all seem well. But as the family grow up the memories of home began to fade. Sometimes Agnes would draw pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Cleves and hand them over to Henry. The Pevensies would talk and only could remember their parents all else of Finchley gone.

Agnes POV

Of the early hour I slept next to my husband in deep slumber. Peter and I had been married for ten years now and our relationships have fair. There are times we argue to a point we can't stand each other because of our stubbornness, but in the end Peter would calms down and apologized for his behavior. My favorite part is him admitting how much of an idiot he can be. Yet most of the time we are a loving couple.

A warm hand traced down my back cheek memorizing every detail in soft delicate stroke. Calloused fingers in wielding a sword press gently along my lips. Mentally smirking I gently bit on the index fingers.

"Ow," a deep velvet voice murmured. "Such sharp teeth you have, Agnes."

I open my eyes to stare at Peter. He has grown these past fifteen years no longer a boy. All tall and strong, short curly hair that reaches to his chin. And the most drastic change he ever made for himself was his whiskers. A slight trimmed beard along his jaw and under his nose between sticking out as a beard, except no longer than stubbles. Took me a while to get use to kissing him with those whiskers. But after the Battle in Calormen again Prince Rabidash he decided to keep the beard.

I let go of his finger, "The better to tease you, my dear king."

Peter chuckled and kissed me on the lips. I return the kiss and wrapped my arms around him. Once we were done kissing he pulled back. He has been home for several days now from his visit from the Lone Islands. Usually I would have accompanied him; however we have been planning to start a family and couldn't take any risk. Sadly the past few years I have been unable to conceive.

"Have there been any changes?" he asked hopefully.

"I'm sorry," I apologized not looking into those blue eyes.

Peter sighed and hugged me, "I'm not disappointed, Agnes."

"I know, I just feel sad that . . ." I couldn't finish.

My theory in why I couldn't conceive a child is because of Jadis. When she turned me to stone my body couldn't function properly. My skin was cold as stone for several months along with postpone effect internally. Maybe the stone curse damages my reproduction system? There have been times we consider the option of adoption, yet Peter wanted to wait and give it a go a few more times. We are both thirty-one, but still nothing has happen on the years. In fact I'm close to giving up on trying.

"Maybe tonight," he murmured and slides his arms along my side till gasping my bum giving a light playful squeeze.

"Peter!" I giggled smacking his chest.

"Is that how you treat a king," he joked.

"King you maybe, but in this room I am in charge." I teased.

"Yes, your majesty." Peter chuckled.

After snuggling close and kissing like young lovers again we manage to get out of bed and prepare for the day ahead. Once clean and properly dressed we joined our siblings to the dining hall where Edmund and Susan ate. Seems Henry and Lucy aren't up yet.

"Good-morrow," I said to Susan.

"Good-morrow indeed," Susan replied.

"Any knew suitors asking for your hand?" I asked her.

Susan chuckled, "I have a line of suitors that go all the way to the Frozen Falls."

We both laughed to that. Since no matter how many times a suitor has been rejected he continues to return with his heart on his sleeve. Susan is careful. She wants a man to love her out of love not her tittles and riches. Especially five years ago of a conspiracy to murder Peter and Edmund in order to marry Susan to become king. Unfortunately the man who set the conspiracy was stripped of his tittle and banned from Narnia. As of now he is living on one of the isolated islands outside of the Lone Island.

"I don't know; you might become an old maid." Edmund teased.

The moment Edmund said that Susan smacked him on the back of his head knocking his crown off. Peter laughed while chuckled. Even to this day Edmund comes up with these bad jokes.

A few moments later Lucy and Henry enter the room. They walked in hand and hand as they took a seat giving their morning greet before eating. I stared at my dear brother who has grown up. Now twenty-four, tall of six feet, long ginger down to his shoulder kept in a tight low ponytail, and baby fat gone from his face. Though when I think of the past I remember the little clumsy brave boy wearing leg braces. I sighed, thinking about my change noting my hair is longer, body curves in certain areas, and loss of the innocence face. We all indeed had grown up.

Henry's POV

I stood next to Lucy throne as we all listen to any complaints or needs of Narnia. Mr. Tumnus read through the scroll of each individual name and that person discusses matters, which King Peter and King Edmund decides the situation and confirm by Lucy and Susan. Agnes stood next to Peter throne holding the pride as him. Sometimes whispering in his ear. I smirked, holding back a chuckle for how she got her adjective tittle of Sharp. By truth, it is because she is a sharp shooter with a bow when it comes to war, but the rumors throughout Narnia is because she holds a sharp tongue, able to convince Peter so easily.

When we heard this all expected Agnes to get furious along with Peter. Instead they both laugh at once shaking their heads. And as an Agnes way in saying, "Rumors are rumors, they is hardly a truth."

Lucy yawned in her chair; I smirk and lean into her ear, "Is my Queen bored."

"Yes, wish we can go out and play." She whispered.

"Aren't we too old for that, Lu?" I asked.

"We are never old." She chuckled.

I chuckled and kissed her temple. Who knew I would have fallen in love with my best friend. At first I never thought of marring Lucy for the adventures we had. But when puberty struck I saw Lucy in a different light. Of course Peter and Edmund became over protected and the very long courtship to earn their trust before we married four years ago.

Once done with attending Narnia's needs everyone sighed in relief. No matter our age we still act like impatient children. Agnes sighs the loudness as she moved around Peter's throne and sat down on his lap. Peter chuckled slightly wrapping his arms around her. Lucy got up from her throne and went to grab my hand walking over to the balcony to watch the scenery. I pulled her closer wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"Oh wait, there is one more." Mr. Tumnus announced.

"And what is that?" Edmund asked.

"My Kings, Queens, and lord, there have been sightings of a white stag wondering about the Lantern Waste. Legend says that whoever caught the beast would have their wishes granted."

This caught everyone's attention as we stared at the faun. Lucy had a huge smile on her face when hearing about wishes. Susan held a dream like face on her wish, Edmund smirking on an idea. Staring at Peter and Agnes I notice their hands were on her stomach. Everyone knew what they wanted for they been trying for years but couldn't conceive a child.

"Oh Peter can we?" Lucy begged as she walked over acting like her nine year old.

"I don't know Lu; we are having so much fun." Peter teased.

"Come on, Peter, please." she begged tugging on his sleeve giving a puppy dog look. "Pretty please?"

Peter gave an exaggerated sigh, "Ready the horses."

Edmund stood up, "You all wait in the castle. I'll get the stag myself."

"Not going to happen, Ed." Susan said.

"Yes," Lucy said running out of the throne me with me in toll.

The first day was spent on a long ride through Narnia to reach the Lantern Waste. On the second day we galloped our horses through the dense forest. By high noon we spotted the grand beast galloping through the forest.

"After it," Peter said as he and Agnes took the lead on their horses.

We all chase after the stag with much vigor of the animal. So many wishes we all have that we want to be granted. One of my most important wish is to have our parents here in Narnia. It has been so long since we last do mum and dad I wonder if they are worry sick . . . or father still alive. As we all galloped we notice Edmund was absent from group. So turning back we found him with his horse Philip panting.

"Come on, Ed." I said. "We're losing him."

"Just catching my breath," Edmund said.

"That's all we'll catch at this rate." Susan teased.

"What did he say, Susan?" Lucy replied.

"You guys wait in the castle." Susan said impersonating Edmunds lofty character. "I'll get the stag myself."

We were all laughing at that till Peter paused looking at one of the trees. "What's this?"

We all got off our horses to investigate the strange object. An iron pole with a lantern on the top while vines cover its body. It kind of reminded me the location where we met Mr. Tumnus long ago as children.

"It looks familiar," Agnes said touching the pole removing the vines.

"As if from a dream," Susan murmured.

"Or a dream of a dream," Lucy added. "Spare Oom."

"The shining city of War Drobe." I whispered and look at my wife.

Realization came flooding into our heads. Unable to hold back the curiosity we started running towards the direction where the entrance to the old world once stood. Our older siblings called after us and stop, but something kept calling. An invisible urge that told me to continue onward. We continue to walk through the tighten forest to a point we were all shoving branches. Suddenly the branches were becoming thick and soft and heavy.

"These aren't branches." Peter muttered.

"They're coats." Susan whispered.

"Mothballs," Agnes breathed, from the strong distant fragrance.

Soon we were all in conjoined space stomping and shoving one another to get free. We bickered and argue to figure a way out. My hand grasped something cold as metal and by accident yank it down. Instantly we all came stumbling out of the wardrobe and into the spare room in the Professor mansion. I sat up and stared at my family, only to be confused. They all look young since the day we came to Narnia.

I look down at my legs and laid there in horror. The leg braces were back on me legs. Taking a moment to feel my back but it doesn't weigh much nor does it hurt. Might need to ask the Professor if my Scoliosis is gone to be certain. Otherwise I'm not going to be a happy soldier.

But wait, now that we are children again does that mean Lucy and I can't be together. I stare at her who stare at me with the same concern. Looking at Peter and Agnes they stare at each other almost heart broken. Agnes held her left hand were the only source of Narnia left was the gold ring with a ruby on top. In fact those who got married still had the ring from Narnia. But we married there . . . not England and we are children again.

Quite frankly it's odd to have a mature mind in a child's body.

Suddenly there sounds of arguing on the other side of the door.

"Listen," Lucy said.

"It's the Macready." Susan announced.

Agnes got up and walked over to the door and paused facing us. "You realize no time has gone by at all since we climbed into that wardrobe."

"That explained the Hide and Seek incident," I said.

The door opens and who came is not the angry Scottish woman, but the professor holding the cricket ball. Uh oh, last time we were here Edmund broke the window and the knight on the ground. All because of a simple game of cricket did we enter Narnia?

"Oh! There you are," Professor said surprised. "What were you all doing in the wardrobe?"

"You wouldn't believe us if we told you, sir." Peter said.

The professor tossed him the ball which he caught. The old man smiled, "Try me."

We all stood up and started talking about our adventure in Narnia. He nodded and didn't asked questions. Somehow it's quite odd that he isn't calling us mad or some sort of offensive word for someone who has gone insane. I mean by the mane, he is a doctor after all. And a professor might I add.

"Which is why we felt we have to explain, sir," Peter explained. "How the six fur coats in your wardrobe are missing."

"And the galoshes." Susan added.

"It was very cold there." Lucy added.

"And we did know if we would ever get back." Edmund also added.

We all paused waiting for a response. Agnes questionably asked, "We could go back and get them for you?"

"Oh come now," Professor Kirke said. "No one wants to go back searching for some mothball stinking old coats. "

"You . . . you do believe in us, Professor?" I asked.

"Naturally, but you won't get back to Narnia again by that route anyway." He explained. "Not by the wardrobe. No. "

"You mean . . . we may go back?" Lucy answered happily.

"Oh course you will get back to Narnia someday." He answered. "Once a king of Narnia, always a king of Narnia."

Agnes and I looked at each other in surprise.

I guess we weren't the only ones who had an adventure in Narnia.

All right guys that's the end of "The Lion is an Angel." I hope you all enjoyed it. I know there were a few grammar problems but at least you all enjoyed the story. I might make a short story of how Agnes and Peter got together. Just give me time.

All right here comes the important question. Should I do a sequel to Prince Caspian?

Please leave a review for your answer. If I get enough review then I shall write a sequel otherwise I won't. I'll post a chapter on this story to give you the answer, tittle, and the link.

Thanks for reading and leave a review.
