Chapter 22- The girl in the silk dress
"Farfetch'd where do you live? In the wild or by a trainer? Nod head twice for wild and once for trainer." They all nodded once.
"You found my Farfetch'd!" A man exclaimed running into the cemetery. By the happy looks on the Farfetch'd faces this was the real trainer. "How could I ever thank you."
"No I'm just happy that they found their home."
"What happened here?"
I explained everything that had happened in the last few hours and the man completely understood. "It's okay thank you for saving them. Again how could I ever thank you."
"Can you come with me in the Ilex forest?"
"Are you kidding? It's too scary in there." What was it and this forest that no one wanted to go inside it. "But I'm glad to give you this here set of three great balls." I tried so hard to conceal my excitement. Yeah that was really hard since all great balls were was a step up from normal balls and they were only a little bit better. But I guess I shouldn't be complaining they were free after all.
"Thank you I guess I should be going." I went to go into the deeper part of the forest and as I walked to go in there Totodile came out of it's pokeball. "Oh look it's someone who actually wants to go out and explore with me." It nodded. All right if he was so bent on coming out I guess if he wanted to it was okay with me.
The forest boomed alive with a bunch of noises from various sources whether it be the chirping or screeching of the bug and bird pokemon, the fearful crying of children who didn't want to go through this forest, or the fearful crying of me who also didn't want to be here.
Totodile on the other hand was sniffing flowers and picking up pinecones, which he made me place in my bag. "How are you not scared?" I asked.
Totodile looked at me in confusion. "How are you not scared of this forest?" Totodile went over and hugged the tree, which happened to be the scariest tree I've seen so far.
"I have to admit you are a brave one." I laughed as Totodile stood proudly. "Don't get a swelled head." Totodile held it's head in panic that it would happen to him. "It's a figure of speech."
The forest wasn't so bad. All it was, was a forest of scary tall trees that loomed over us blocking out the sky, scary noises made by who knows what, forest thieves, and a figure looming right ahead of us. Nothing to worry about.
"I'll never find my way out." The figure said despairingly. How long had she been here? Maybe for like Five hundred years! As if she heard me I heard her say "I've been stuck here for almost two days."
"Totodile do you know what this means?" He shook his head no. "No? It means that's she's been dead for two days." By the look he was giving me he didn't believe it. Instead he walked up towards her. "It's too dangerous come back." He continued to ignore me and go up to her.
"Oh my a Totodile. Are you going to help me find my way out?" I realized that it was a girl, a kimono girl like the one we saw earlier in the Bellsprout tower. But it wasn't the same girl. I shrugged it must of just been a fad wearing Kimono's. "Are you this wonderful pokemon's trainer?" I had to say yes.
"Why are you in this forest?" I asked.
"I'm waiting." She said simply. Of course I was going to ask for what. "I am waiting for Celebi." She replied showing no excitement. If it were me hunting for Celebi I would have been extremely energetic. "Where is the exit?"
"I don't know maybe at the end of the forest." I replied sardonically
"That's a good idea let's look there." She replied totally missing the point of my comment. I guess I felt better about the forest now that there was someone else with me. The company of a complete stranger was just as comforting as being in the company of a friend.
"Caterpie!" The little caterpillar jumped on my head.
"Oh my you found Caterpie." The girl smiled as the bug squirmed around in my hair. I wasn't sure that I was the one that found it I was pretty sure that it was the other way around. "It's so cute you should catch it." Why not I guess I could train another pokemon. About when I reached in my bag to grab a pokeball with Caterpie still on my head, I suddenly felt something strong swoop in on my head. It only took me a moment to realize what had happened. A Pidgeotto had gone after Caterpie. I could only feel horror as I watched Caterpie being wisped away. Totodile waved goodbye and the girl seemed okay with what had just happened.
"Oh I forgot Pidgeotto eat Caterpie. Oh well I guess you can't catch that Caterpie." I couldn't believe how calm she was and of course birds eat worms it was just the natural way of things.
I thought about Bugsy and Falkner. Maybe it was a good idea not to have those two battle any time soon. Bugsy would soon lose all of his bug type pokemon and Falkner's bird pokemon would have a full belly. I couldn't believe how morbid nature was.
"Look it's the exit." The kimono girl replied pointing out sweet freedom.
"What's that?" I asked pointing to the big box that stood right next to the exit.
"That is the shrine people made for the time travelling pokemon Celebi." I had only heard about that pokemon through myth. "This is where Celebi is said to return one day." Why would Celebi return to this forest?
"I see that you don't like this forest." She replied as if she read my mind.
"No not really." I admitted lugubriously.
"The Ilex forest is a dark place with many dark secrets of it's shady past." Was that supposed to make me feel better?
Totodile started to poke at the shrine. He climbed on the roof a little bit and started to jump on it. He must have been looking for Celebi. "Celebi is not here Totodile." With a sigh of disappointment Totodile dismounted. Why was it important he saw Celebi?
"I will be seeing you two again soon." The Kimono girl said. "I have spent many years searching the hearts of young trainers finding one that is pure that can save all." The girl in the silk dress left after saying all that weird mumbo-jumbo. Who knew what she meant? She also probably should keep looking because there is no pure hero of a trainer here.
"Come on Totodile the exit is right here." I grabbed my pokemon's hand and we both made it out alive this time around. Now it was time to focus on the next gym battle we had to challenge. I have heard many stories about this gym and how many trainers despise going to this gym. I knew the name of the gym leader and her pokemon. It was Whittney and her Miltank!
