Jasper and I sit with Alice for an hour or so before he gets up to get her some water.
"It's good to see you," Alice says.
"I wish it were under different circumstances."
She tries to smile but can't.
"I'm really sorry about Edward, Allie."
She cries a little and wipes her cheeks.
"He'll never know…" she says, letting her thought drift off as she touches her stomach.
I don't know what to say, so I simply hold her hand.
She clears her throat after a while.
"It's good to see you and Bella together again."
"Oh," I say, looking down.
"I didn't know if you would show up after everything that had happened."
