Distant Future
Smack.
"Shut up, on your knees, cross your legs and don't question me, we have five minutes."
"But-!"
"Shut up."
Caelum's voice was smooth, deeper and silkier then the current Caelum. He was also harsher. A lot harsher. Ieyasu looked up with a defeated face as Caelum crossed his arms over his chest. The future assassin wore a dark suit, the beanie on top of his head looked out of place. "I'm only going to say this once, okay? Those dreams you've been having aren't dreams. They're memories."
Uh what?
The brunet sat down on the bed, in front of the blonde, raising his knee to lean his forearm on it.
"I know you've thought about it for awhile, a seal was placed on your flames and made you forget about the memories. I'm going to release it now. Minute I do you need to figure out the fighting move to get rid of Xanxus. You get one shot at this."
Ieyasu' head was swimming. He couldn't understand what was going on, Caelum wasn't explaining either.
"W-Wait a minute what are-!"
But a finger was placed on his forehead and the blonde quieted.
Then...
He understood it all.
A rush of thoughts hit him, causing his hands to tremble, blue eyes wide and blank.
He knew now. Knew...
A soft hand rested on the top of his head, a warm smile on Caelum's face. "I'm sorry, Ieyasu. This needs to happen or you won't make it out there."
The blonde didn't answer, eyes downcast. "But... Why?"
Caelum stood quiet, a warm presence as the blonde tried to collect himself.
"Think about it. It'll be fine you have time."
He did.
Ten years before
Ieyasu stood in front of the mirror, blue eyes staring at his reflection intently.
"Hmm... I didn't expect it to be so soon."
His words were in fluent Italian, a mature and older look in his eyes as he leaned offthe counter he had been on and dropped to the floor. A knock on the door startled him as a womanly voice floated to him.
"Ieyasu~ Papa's here!"
Then there was that.
He dropped his thoughts, a calm look on his face as he opened the door and went outside, a small smile on his face.
Iemitsu immediately smiled wide, kneeling with his arms wide as Ieyasu ran to him with a hug. In the hug the boys eyes dimmed slightly, knowing exactly what kind of thoughts would be passing in his mind.
'They look so alike.'
A headache formed on his temples as he forced the thoughts down, heart pounding rapidly.
"We got a visitor today!" The CEDEF boss exclaimed, picking Ieyasu up from the floor. The blonde was small for his age. Ieyasu looked behind his father, catching the brown eyes of a man he hadn't expected to see.
"It's nice to meet you Ieyasu!"
His blue eyes flickered in recognition as the Vongola's ninth boss noticed it. The blonde smiled brightly, not shy at all. "Ohayo! Can I call you grandpa?"
He squirmed out of his fathers hand and took the older man's hand, enjoying the wide grin that formed on his face.
"Of course!"
It was later when his father and Timoteo had a quiet discussion that Ieyasu played outside by himself. However the blonde wasn't doing that. He silently listened to the conversation, hands messing with the ground underneath him.
"Do you think he's a worthy candidate?"
"I'm not sure, for now he seems like a sweet little boy. I don't want to drag him into this."
But...
Ieyasu' hands retracted, eyes going blank as he winced. It was too early for him. Too early for this small body.
Iemitsu was called upstairs by Nana, creating the perfect opportunity for Timoteo to inspect him.
To see if he was worthy for the title of Vongola tenth.
"Hello Ieyasu."
Ieyasu looked up, blue eyes blank. They took awhile to focus, when they did the boy gave a calculating look.
"I have a request for you, Timoteo."
The man froze up, not expecting that kind of speech from a five year old.
"Ieyasu..?"
The blonde stood up.
"Not quite. I will tell you everything about me. You only need to promise to seal away my flames the minute I do, is that understood?"
The authority he spoke with made the man curious. Timoteo nodded, eyes falling into a boss look. Ieyasu smiled at that, amazed the man accepted it so soon.
"I am the first boss of Vongola, Ieyasu Sawada, also known as Giotto."
To reinforce his words he spoke influent Italian.
"However, a problem presented itself in the past, one that needed my attention along with my guardians. It would be happening at least in the tenth generation of Vongola. Talbot and I used the Vongola rings to help ensure we'd be reincarnated in this generation. Our memories would slowly present itself."
A hand clenched over the fabric of his heart as Timoteo tried to take it in. The older male narrowed his eyes about to question the blonde till he stopped him.
"I will let destiny play itself. But my presence in this era has thrown a lot off... It has thrown the true Vongola Decimo out of its way, trying to make me take it's place. When the time comes i'll right that wrong. However, my current state is suffering."
He trembled now, a tired look in his eyes.
"My body cannot handle the strain of my past memories and skills. The flames are harder to control as a child, if you know. I cannot keep living with this type of strain, it can only end horribly. Therefore, I'm asking you to seal it away, it'll come undone when the body is ready."
Timoteo suddenly spoke, presenting another problem to the blonde.
"If I did that, won't you develop another... Personality?"
Ieyasu stopped, understanding that main fear. He would become a happy child in this environment, a family, a non related mafia life.
"It's alright. I understand the risk already. Although I'm Giotto, Vongola Primo, I will always be Ieyasu. When my memories reawaken, it'll be alright. I have promises to keep to many, and mainly to a boy that this Ieyasu knows dearly. I have faith. I have faith you'll be able to sort things out, and engage me as Vongola Decimo. It's the only way to ensure things can be done correctly."
A silence stood before them, Timoteo looking like he wouldn't believe it. Such a hard fate on a five year old. The child smiled, placing his small hand on top of the other's warm, large hands.
"It'll be alright."
A calm reassurance, an amazing one.
Within minutes Giotto's memory had been sealed, the boy wrapped in Timoteo's arms, sleeping soundly. The boy would wake up later, blank and lost but he'd pull through.
He'd make it.
Ieyasu nearly jumped when a larger hand was placed on his own.
"It'll be alright."
Three words that lifted the fate of the world off his shoulders for a moment. He looked up to meet Caelum's eyes, his own blue eyes regaining it's shine.
"You know yourself more then anyone. Your family will always be by your side despite this change. Can you do this?"
Can he do this?
He had to do this. No regrets what so ever. He had promised to do this when he was younger, when he still lived his past life.
"I will protect them. I will never let them suffer."
The older male laughed, reaching up to mess up his hair.
"Giotto, Ieyasu, doesn't matter what you go by, you'll still be the same idiot student to me."
The blonde smiled brightly, a laugh escaping his lips.
Before Giotto was taken back to the past, something shifted on Caelum's lips. He would never know what Caelum had said that night, but he knew it had been important... For both their sakes.
'And you'll always be my stupid older brother...'
With Tsuna
The brunet coughed, Xanxus jumping back to assess the situation. The ten year bazooka?! Being used at a time like this!
Something caught in Tsuna's throat, looking at the pink smoke. There was always the possibility of the person not appearing. If Ieyasu has died in the span of ten years later.
A soft cough relaxed the ice gripping his heart at the thought.
"Lambo's gun needs aim." A soft velvet voice said as the pink smoke evaporated.
Standing in front of Tsuna and Xanxus was an older version of Ieyasu. Blonde hair still as wild as ever and narrowed blue eyes. He wore a white button up shirt, tucked into his pants. He looked like he had gotten home from a meeting or party of sorts. He had gloves on his hands, the ones Tsuna had seen Talbot give to him. Only this time around there was a slight difference.
"Hello Xanxus... Caelum." The blonde narrowed his eyes on Tsuna's form, making the brunet tense slightly. The blonde walked over, a warm smile on his face as he bent down to inspect the brunet's face. "You're still as cute as I remember you, Tsuna.."
His voice was a soft mutter, one that made Tsuna do a double take. But what surprised him more was the name uttered through the blondes lips.
"Stay still, Xanxus. In five minutes time your fight will resume. If you try to fight me as of now, it won't be fair to the past me." His voice went cold as he looked back at Xanxus who wanted to attack.
"Raise your fist. I'll be the one to unleash you, okay?" It was surprising how his face changed so quickly. Tsuna's mind raced in confusion, raising his fist to meet Ieyasu's. The gentle smile never faded on the blonde's lips.
A burst of light was seen, Tsuna shutting his eyes at the sudden sting.
"I accept you now, Vongola Decimo."
What?
"May you please me."
The blonde's eyes had a calm look, eyes a bright orange color as Tsuna stared at him when the light receded. His attention left the other male to inspect his gloves. The X was no longer seen on the back of the tight leather, the symbol and crest of vongola now shinning brightly. Questions raced his head, mostly on the fact Ieyasu had called him Vongola Decimo.
"Calm down, Tsuna."
The blonde placed a hand on his fluffy hair, childishly.
"Everything will be revealed in due time. It'll be okay."
In due time?! He wanted to know now! But his thoughts were silenced as the hand rested against the back of his neck, pulling the brunet against him into a hug.
What? Tsuna blinked, the warmth of his flames receding in surprise at the hug.
"Tsunayoshi, I am so sorry for everything. I'm sorry."
His words were deep, filled with regret and truth that Tsuna forgot exactly who it was hugging him. Why was Ieyasu apologizing? Had something happened in the future?
He wanted to speak, to voice his questions but that fear and his inability to do so caught the words before it left his throat.
The blonde chuckled, releasing him, a small sad smile on his face, not saying anything else as a burst of pink smoke surrounded the blonde.
Within second another cough alerted him that Ieyasu had returned safely.
"Oi, trash. You're pissing me off." Xanxus growled, raising his gun to take care of Ieyasu who still couldn't see correctly. Tsuna reacted, immediately jumping into action. He knocked into Ieyasu, feeling the flames bite into the side of his suit and his arm. The two were sprawled against each other, Tsuna's face tightened in pain as Ieyasu's wide baby blue eyes focused on him.
"Caelum!"
Xanxus reacted, ready to shoot another blast. Tsuna couldn't move yet, body still sluggish from the pain. He reached to hold Ieyasu protectively, his main thought was
Ieyasu can't die.
Not his best friend.
However, the blonde jumped into hyper dying will mode, carefully kneeling and shielding Tsuna with his own body.
"It'll be fine, Caelum."
The striking resemblance to the future Ieyasu was seen, and such an aura that Tsuna hadn't known existed was released from the teen.
"Watch closely, in hyper dying will mode."
Tsuna slipped into it, eyes calculating the form the blonde was in, his intuition clicking in on the new posture of his hands that was made to the incoming flames.
When Xanxus's flames came in contact, they disappeared, a thick silence overcoming the field as Ieyasu clicked his hands apart a flicker of sparks appearing. Eyes shut tightly before the flames on Ieyasu's head flared brightly.
"You... You absorbed them."
Tsuna whispered in amazement. The blonde nodded with a smile, eyes colder then usual.
"Yes. Get ready. You have to do it next so we can finish this."
This was different the Ieyasu he knew. He felt it in his heart but knew right now wasn't the time to voice his thoughts when a pissed off Xanxus had his aim ready. Tsuna steadied his posture, Ieyasu's previous stances and thoughts mirroring on him as the blast came. His mind had quickly copied the move, improving it as the burst in energy was felt in his power.
The technique was an amazing one to have.
"Let's go."
They jumped, immediately catching Xanxus off guard at their coordinated attacks. Ieyasu moving at a pace that Tsuna had mirrored, managing to improve his already amazing hand-to-hand combat in the matter of a few seconds.
For the first time since the fight started, Xanxus was being overwhelmed. They pulled back, Tsuna breathing heavily as he wiped a finger across the side of his mouth.
"Caelum, there's one more thing we can both do. Come here."
Tsuna stared, orange eyes wide at this mature version of his student.
His student... That was teaching the tutor.
"Are you alright, Reborn?"
The hitman nodded, gritting his teeth in annoyance as he took Timoteo's hand. The ninth boss had arrived, taking care of the crevello sisters and had forces ready to jump in on the current fight. However, it seemed the two teens were able to handle the situation, amazingly. Reborn had watched, still slightly paralyzed from whatever had been used on his body. Tsuna was improving steadily and Ieyasu seemed to be leading the boy further. The two worked so well together it surprised the living day lights out of him. Tsuna had always lectured the other, having to fix Ieyasu's posture and winning against the boy in matches.
The twist of the reserved strength wasn't something he had expected so soon of all things. The fight was nearing it's end, Timoteo helping Reborn stand as he also inspected the fight. However Timoteo suddenly gasped, Reborn as well, black eyes widening at the stance both teens were in.
In that moment something clicked in Reborn's mind, everything focused on the moment the boys, so identical in every way held a stance of the one and only Zeropoint breakthrough. Something only those of Vongola Primo blood could do. Timoteo was as surprised, as it was shown that Reborn's small helper indeed had blood of Vongola.
And Reborn finally had all the answers to his questions, a small coil of fury in his gut. At that moment, he was glad only Timoteo and himself had seen the two teens encase Xanxus in ice.
"... I believe it's time a few secrets were revealed, don't you think so, Reborn?"
Both men were speaking of different things.
Reborn on Tsuna's heritage.
Timoteo on Ieyasu's true persona.
Ieyasu slumped into Caelum's arms, completely exhausted as his mind whirled again. Everything hurt and the only person he could lean on was the teenager.
Caelum was weak as well, legs giving out as they both fell, Caelum still being able to stay upright.
"I'm tired..." The blonde whispered, blue eyes closing as a hand curled around the fabric of his back.
"Ieyasu... What... Are you...?"
Ieyasu smiled, hesitation at how Caelum would take the news of his newly updated mind.
"It's a really long story. I'll be sure to tell you."
Despite knowing who he was, Ieyasu still held everyone dear, every single one of his newly found friends.
Especially of Caelum who he had a bond with, one he couldn't explain very well himself.
"Y-You better."
A stutter. It was in that small moment that Ieyasu had understood a side of Caelum he hadn't known existed. Caelum was a fearless friend, protecting him, protecting his family, and being able to set Ieyasu straight and comfort him.
Caelum had been scared.
Scared for reasons he still wasn't sure but this soft side of the boy obviously pulled at Ieyasu's heart strings, embracing the boy tightly.
"Caelum..."
"Ieyasu!"
"Boss!"
"Caelum!"
"Idiots!"
All at once they pulled back to see the growing crowd of their family approaching. In that small moment, Ieyasu caught the eyes of people he hadn't seen before, but he knew them.
Alaude, Daemon, G, Lampo, Asari, Knuckle.
All standing, the look on their eyes narrowed on Ieyasu whose heart stopped.
The one named Giotto, the memories of his past felt his heart clench. The complete utter feeling of pain entering his system as he crumpled on the ground, eyes staring at his hands clenching into the dirt.
He couldn't shed tears, it would be stupid to do so.
He had put them through so much, for his own problems, his own mistakes and miscalculations.
He put the first generation family through pain.
"It's nice to meet you again."
Ieyasu froze up, recognizing the voice as his head jerked up.
Timoteo smiled down at him, holding out a hand to the blonde. Caelum had been forced up roughly by Reborn, who looked paler then normal.
Men in black suits were approaching a seething Xanxus.
"Timoteo!" The hushed whisper made the man smile warmly.
"Do you remember what you told me? All those years ago? How that no matter what, you'd always be Ieyasu? Tell me, would Ieyasu have such an expression?"
Well, it was easier to say back then when he didn't have two personalities fighting each other.
Now, the calm collection of Giotto and childish form of Ieyasu had clashed, memories of Giotto making him stop, but the warmth of Ieyasu pushing him forward.
But... He was over thinking it wasn't he?
Was there truly a difference?
Was there really two separate people?
Hadn't he always been the Giotto from before, reckless, childish but serious when wanted?
Only now, he was seeing Giotto as a different person, when in reality that was him.
He laughed, the sound rich and stressed with such relief, everyone could tell the blonde had made a sort of realization.
"No, he wouldn't and neither would Giotto. I've been stupid haven't I?" He grinned, taking the hand of the ninth boss, the familiar warmth as the rest of his family collided with them, Reborn managing to kick Colonello from a surprised Caelum who was wrapped in the hitmans arms.
It was alright.
Isn't that what he had said before?
'It'll be okay.'
