A/N: Whoo hoo you guys! New chapter. I apologize for it being so long. I had the second part of my big test, and I just couldn't get this chapter right. Now it feels perfect. It's extra long as well! Plus, I have two surprises for you and a request at the bottom!
Please forgive the typos I most likely missed. I was just too excited to post!
-Addie-
Someone cleared their throat, and we both looked up. I felt my color drain from my face, replaced with a blush so furious I wished the earth would've swallowed me whole. Funny thing was that I could have made it do that.
My father was staring down at us with a fierce expression and his trident in hand. He didn't look angry exactly, but he sure did look intimidating. It was that look a lot of immortals got on their face when they were trying to decide if they should kill you or if you might be useful to them one day. He wasn't even looking at me. He was staring at Apollo, and he was staring right back, with an expression just as fierce. Just your normal boyfriend, who also happens to be your cousin but really isn't because godly DNA is seriously messed up, father stare down. The earth began to shift around me, and lightening hit nearby. They both looked at me, and I muttered an apology.
"Euadne, what is that?"
My father pointed to my arm, the golden ichor still dripping down slowly. The cut had not healed, but at least it had almost stopped bleeding.
"Um, blood. I think. Well, I'm not sure," I admitted. Athena had walked up behind him, along with Artemis and Hermes. Apollo stood up, offering me his hand. I took it, and as I stood up, I covered up the cut with my free hand.
"What did you do?" Athena inquired.
"I may or may not have jumped into the Styx, and then proceeded to make a bet with Thanatos that his touch wouldn't kill me," I added sheepishly.
"You jumped in the Styx….and lived?" Athena asked. They were all looking at me like I was Kronos magically reincarnated in pink gladiator armor. I nodded my head. I really didn't understand it either. I just knew that I had to come back. I had orders, and with me, orders had to be followed. Athena turned to Artemis and my father, and they began talking quietly to one another. I looked around, wanting to find the others. The monsters that were left were scattering, running to get away from their sure destruction if they had stayed.
My eyes fell on Leo. He was still lying on the ground, and a chill went through me. He was hurt. He wasn't moving, and that scared me. Had I been wrong? Did Gaia somehow harm him? Apollo followed my gaze, and as I started to make my ways towards him, he grabbed my shoulder. I tried to shake him off, but he wouldn't budge.
"He needs help, I can-"
"Addie."
I turned looking back at Apollo. He looked sad, and my stomach dropped through the floor. No….
"Fire can't kill him," I muttered quickly. It made no sense.
"That sword could only be wielded by an immortal," he said quietly. "He knew what he was doing."
Understanding dawned on me. He asked me to keep his promise. Hephaestus walked over, and tears sprung into my eyes. I just shook my head. I was aware that someone was calling me. Apollo was speaking to me, and there was a pressure mounting in my head. None of that mattered.
No. He couldn't be. He was my friend. Leo didn't deserve that. We had grown close, and I wanted nothing more than for him to be happy. Maybe it was because I was mortal, but I still didn't take death very well. Maybe it was one of the reasons I closed myself off so much. I looked up, and Percy and the others were walking up. Hazel looked hurt, but Frank and Nico were helping her. They hadn't seen him yet.
This was my fault. I should have been the one. I should have let my brother go. I could have stopped Leo from dying.
"EUADNE!"
I turned so I was facing the gods. I fought to keep the tears back. Zeus stood in front of me, a stern expression on his face.
"Go back to Olympus, and stay in the throne room. You will wait for us there, and you are not to leave under any circumstances."
I wanted to snap back. I wanted to tell him that I could be of better use here, but I didn't. I knew that expression on his face, the same one I had only gotten a few times before. I focused on keeping my voice calm. Yelling wouldn't get me anywhere.
"I beg your pardon, my Lord, but wouldn't I be of better use here?"
His expression softened just a little, but I could tell his resolve was firm.
"No. Get someone to heal that cut, and stay there."
"I've got it," Apollo murmured. His hand brushed my arm, and the itchy sensation was marred by the fire from his touch. It sent shivers all over me, making goose bumps rise on my skin. Our eyes locked, and he looked at me earnestly. He was telling me something without saying it out loud, and I knew exactly what he was trying to say to me: Be safe.
"Thank you."
He nodded his head, and I took a step back from all of them. I concentrated on Olympus, and the world tiled around me.
-Apollo-
I had a sneaking suspicion why my father had sent Addie away.
I had been on this world for over three thousand years, and I had never seen anything like that. She was not an immortal, but she had immortal blood. Some kind of strange magic was at work here. The blood was extremely precious, even more so to me because it belonged to her.
"Hermes, go speak with the demigods. Tell them we will speak to them at sunset on Olympus. We need to go check in with Dionysus and Hecate, see if they managed both of the camp's safety. Ares, go to Olympus and make sure Euadne does what she's suppose to. We all know she has a tendency to find a way to weasel her way out of things."
"You've got to be joking," I objected. My father turned to look at me, his eyebrows raised slightly.
"Problem?"
"You are going to send him of all people after what he did to her!?"
"You seem to care an awful lot about a girl who is practically a slave," he hinted coldly. He was reprimanding me! Actually reprimanding me! It wasn't like he's never been with someone he wasn't supposed to be with. It was his ability to not keep it in his pants that lead to way more problems than I ever caused. I felt my rage boil up. I was about to start yelling furiously, but someone beat me to the punch.
"Brother, do you really think it so wise to leave him with her alone after the history between the two of them?" Poseidon suggested. His voice was full of steel, and I was glad I wasn't alone in this.
"Ares knows his place, and that still hasn't been proven," Zeus protested. Ares smile just got smugger, as I glared in his direction.
"No. Absolutely not. Let me go instead," I suggested.
"Apollo, I need you here," my father sighed.
"Then send anyone, anyone, besides Ares. I won't let him near her."
My father looked at me, but I met his gaze. I didn't give Pan's pipes what he thought. Ares was not going to ever lay another finger on her. He seemed to sense my determination and gave me a resigned sigh.
"Fine," he grunted. "I could use all of you anyways. Athena, contact Hestia and tell her to watch over Euadne. "
Athena nodded her head, and Ares gave me a glare. No matter what father thought, I knew Ares was not done with her, especially now that everything had come out. He would seek revenge; it was in his nature.
But he would have to get through me first.
-Percy-
Watching Addie and Leo fight Gaia had been…. Amazing, but in a scary, I-never-wanted-to-witness-that-again way. Leo had grabbed the sword, his father speaking quickly to him. He just nodded his head solemnly. He had gone through the barrier, a barrier that could only be breached by a demigod. He just said this was something he had to do when I offered to go with him.
Now, I knew why.
Leo was lying limply on the ground, and Hephaestus leaned down, picking him up in his arms. We all stopped, shock rolling through us. He wasn't moving.
Leo had sacrificed himself for us.
To storm or fire, the world must fall, and Gaia had fallen due to Leo.
"No, no, no, this can't be happening," Piper sobbed. Jason reached for her, but she pushed him away.
"Pipes-"
"NO!" she screamed, and Jason froze. She walked towards Hephaestus, grim determination set on her face. He looked back on her with what I could have sworn was pity. It was kind of hard to tell with all the scars.
"Bring him back."
The force of her words struck even me, and he looked from her to all of us.
"I cannot bring back the dead, child of Aphrodite."
"Then do something, anything! Please," she begged. Hephaestus closed his eyes sighing deeply.
"You have your mother's way with words, but there is nothing more I can do. My son can no longer stay in the mortal world," he said sadly. "His time here is done."
"What about an immortal one?"
"That is nothing something that can be granted to him by me alone."
Piper nodded her head. She made no move to wipe the tears from her face. She stood tall and proud, and a part of me understood that she was barely holding it together. This crater had opened up in my chest. It was still hollow from Addie, and it had been briefly filled just to be hollow again.
"Where are you taking him?"
"He died a hero's death, and he shall be treated as such," Hephaestus grumbled. We all just stared at Leo's body, at the blank face that was lit up with an impish grin all the time.
I had seen so much death, and I was so tired of it. Leo was an amazing person. He always tried to make us laugh, and he was wickedly smart. He didn't deserve this. He deserved to live.
"He deserves more," I said firmly. Everyone looked at me, but my eyes did not leave the god of the forge. "Please, if there's anything that can be done." Piper and Hazel had tears streaming down their cheeks, and the others looked pale and lost. I wondered for a second how I looked. Hephaestus tilted his head to the side.
"You children of Poseidon are curious things."
He vanished from in front of us, taking Leo with him. Piper leaned into Jason, and he wrapped his arms around her. She was sobbing into his shirt, and he was whispering gently in her ear. Frank was consoling Hazel as silent tears ran down her cheeks. Nico just held her hand, staring blankly ahead. Annabeth took my hand, and I saw that she had been crying as well. I leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss against her brow. I saw Thalia talking to Artemis, while the other gods were speaking to one another. I didn't see Addie anywhere, and I assumed they had sent her somewhere.
"With victory, there is always sacrifice. It's the part I hate the worst about war."
Annabeth and I turned to my left, to see Hermes standing beside us.
"There have been enough sacrifices lately. It shouldn't have been him. He didn't deserve to die," I countered.
"Does anyone ever deserve to die? A lot of people go through things that they never deserved. I think your sister could attest to that," he said with a small smile.
"Where is she?" I questioned.
"She's on Olympus. Don't worry, she's fine."
I nodded my head. I was anxious to see her, to check on her, but at the moment I guessed that wasn't possible.
"What now?"
"We need to get you back stateside. We all want to hear what happened, and I'm sure you could all use some rest. The world is safe again thanks to the nine of you."
He explained about the meeting on Olympus, and I wondered vaguely how we were going to get back. My dad walked up about that time, and Hermes walked away. Annabeth gave my hand a quick squeeze and went to check on the others.
"For a daughter of Athena, she's not too bad," he muttered. "A lot less of an insufferable know it all than her mother."
I laughed, the first time I had done so in some time.
"She has her days, but I wouldn't trade her for anything."
"She's good for you."
"I wish everyone thought so," I muttered. Athena had chosen that exact moment to glance at me with one of her patented I-watching-you-Jackson glares.
"I probably don't help that," he said, wincing apologetically in my direction. I just shrugged my shoulders. Having this kind of conversation, a normal one after so long being away from any kind of parent felt nice.
"Probably has more to do with the fact that I'm a boy in general."
My dad laughed, a deep one that actually made me feel better.
"That has a lot to do with it."
The joy left just as soon as it came. My dad put his hand on my shoulder, and I looked up at him.
"You did well."
He cleared his throat and handed me a small pearl. It reminded me of the pearls that we used to get out of the underworld.
"This is similar to the pearls I gave you before. When your ship is out to sea, when you can no longer see land, crush it on the mast-head. Your trip will be a lot quicker."
I nodded my head, and my father started to vanish into vapor in front of me.
"See you soon, Percy. You should have time to see your mother before you come to Olympus. Tell her I said Hello."
His voice drifted off into the wind, the air now smelling of the sea. Thalia walked up to me, and I noticed that all the other gods had gone.
"Mind giving the hunters a lift?"
"I don't really have a choice, do I?"
"Eh, not really. Unless you want Artemis to curse you," she teased.
I smiled, closing my hand around the pearl.
"Yeah, let's go home."
The pearl worked exactly as my dad said it would. After a couple of hours, we made it out into the ocean, and once we spent around thirty minutes sailing through a thick fog, we emerged in New York Harbor.
That would have been extremely helpful when we were sailing over in the first place.
The sun was sinking towards the skyline, and the lights were just starting to come on. We had to be on Olympus at sunset, but my dad had been right. I did have enough time.
Annabeth and I were at my mother's front door. I hadn't see or spoken to her in so long. I raised my hand to knock on the door, but I hesitated. Would she be angry? Had she given up on me? Would she remember me? My hand fell, and I just stared at the knocker.
"Percy, it's okay," Annabeth said softly. I nodded my head, but I still could raise my hand. Annabeth knocked on the door. I could hear footsteps on the other side, and I held my breath without meaning to.
The door opened, and Paul let it hit the wall. He was just staring at me, a disbelieving expression on his face. Then, the biggest smile broke out on his face.
"Sally!"
"Paul, who is it?" my mother called from the kitchen.
"Come see!"
Footsteps pounded around the corner, and that's when I saw her. She had a dish towel in her hand, and she was tucking her hair behind her ear. She looked up and our eyes locked at the same time. Mom stopped walking, and the towel in her hands fell to the floor.
"Percy?" she whispered disbelievingly. I tried to say something, but the words were caught in my throat. All those years of blue food, of her sacrificing her happiness for me, of her being there to depend on, hit me in that instant. I had never meant to hurt or worry her. My mother had been all I had for so long. I missed her more than I could bear.
She opened her mouth a few times. Her chest was heaving, like she had been running moments before instead of washing dishes. I cleared my throat, and I found that tears of my own were stinging my eyes.
"It's me. I'm back," I managed to get out. A single tear rolled down her cheek, and then she was running towards me.
I met her halfway, and we threw our arms around each other. All the pain, all the sacrifice, seemed like something of the past when she hugged me. I was way taller than her now, but that didn't matter. She was crushing me to her. I felt like I was four all over again, and nothing could make me feel better than her hugging me. We were both sobbing and laughing. She pulled back, her hands running over my face like she had remembered every freckle, every scar, and was just trying to make sure that they were still there.
"Your hair is a mess! Where did all these scars come from!? Where have you been? WHY DIDN'T YOU IRIS ME!?" she said as she hit my arm. I rubbed it, but I was grinning from ear to ear. Annabeth stepped inside, and Paul closed the door. Before I could answer she spotted Annabeth and pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. Paul shook my hand and clapped me on the back.
"I expected you to keep him in line," she teased Annabeth.
"Sorry, Mrs. Jackson."
"Mom, it's kind of hard to Iris someone in Tartarus. The giants don't exactly stop trying to kill you so you can call your mom."
"Tartarus!?" she exclaimed. She cradled my face in her hands, brushing my hair out of my eyes. "What the hell were you doing in Tartarus?"
"It's a very long story, and I don't have long," I murmured. My mother's face melted into understanding, and she gave my hand a squeeze.
"Then tell me what you can."
My reunion with my mom was too short, but I would be able to see her later. Paul and she had driven Annabeth and me to the empire state building. The others were waiting at the bottom for us. They had gone to McDonald's because Nico said he'd been craving a happy meal for days. Piper had called her dad, and Annabeth had done the same on the ride over. Thalia and the other hunters had disappeared once we docked the ship saying they had stuff to do.
We walked up to the security guard, and he eyed us speculatively. Annabeth marched forward slamming her hands on the counter.
"Look, it's been an extremely long day. You know who we are and why we are here, so let's just cut the crap and let us get on the elevator, okay?"
He raised his eyebrows, and then handed her a key. We got into the elevators, and Annabeth had us going up to the 600th floor.
"I figured you were starving," Jason said as he nudged me in the shoulder. He held out two double cheeseburgers, and I groaned in thanks.
"Dude," I started with a mouthful.
"Don't thank me! It was Nico who remembered to get something for you," he replied with his hands in the air. I turned towards Nico, giving him a thumps up. He half grinned, and then looked down at the floor. I was going to offer some to Annabeth, but I saw she was nibbling on a wrap.
The elevator doors opened up, and we made our way to the throne room. Godlings and immortals were running around, and a few even stopped to cheer or bow to us. We finally made it to the doors, and a familiar face was waiting outside for us.
"Lady Hestia, it's nice to see you again," Nico greeted her. This time, she looked around my age, but her eyes were still that warm fire-like color that I remember. We all bowed, and she inclined her head to us.
"You've grown, Nico di Angelo. It's a pleasure to see you two safe and out of Tartarus," she said as she smiled in my and Annabeth's direction. Her eyes fell on Jason, and she touched his arm. His whole body relaxed, and she offered him a smile.
"Be confident with your choice, Jason Grace. Things will change from here on. Home is not necessarily where you are from or by your blood. Home is where your heart lies, where your family lies, as it should be."
He nodded his head, and she gestured towards the doors.
"They are ready for you now."
The doors opened of their own accord, and as a group we walked through. All of the gods, including Hades, were seated in their thrones. They were in their giant form, and you could tell there was a tension in the room. They had been arguing about something. I looked everywhere, but the person I wanted to see was nowhere to be found.
"I don't see her, she's not here," Annabeth whispered in my ear.
We all bowed, and Zeus cleared his throat.
"Demigods, it's a pleasure to have the Heroes of Olympus in our presence. Thanks to your assistance, Gaia has been defeated, and the giants are all in Tartarus once again. Do any here deny that we should reward these young heroes?"
"They did a spectacular job," my father boomed.
"Well said," Hades agreed. "My children have done well."
"They all have," Athena smiled.
"Indeed," Dionysus yawned. "Not like we expected any different," he added petulantly.
"What shall we grant these demigods?" Zeus asked the council. They all looked thoughtful for a minute, but it was Hephaestus who spoke first.
"A request, a favor, as long as it is within reason, of course. Surely, there is something that they desire."
He looked at us, and Piper gasped quietly.
"I think that sounds reasonable," Apollo decided.
"As do I," Artemis agreed.
"Big surprise there," Hera mumbled.
"Oh, shut up, Hera! This was your crazy idea in the first place," Demeter cried.
"Yes, and it worked perfectly, didn't it?"
"Ahem," Zeus growled, clearing his throat. "All those in favor?"
All the council, every single one, raised their hands.
"Very well then. Who shall go first?"
Piper turned to look at us, and she held a knowing smirk on her face.
"I will," she said confidently. She looked directly at Zeus, her smile not wavering in the slightest. "We could ask for immortality, correct?"
"If that is what you wish, and the council sees fit, then yes."
Jason was opening and closing his mouth, clearly shocked.
"Fantastic. I want Leo back."
The gods kind of looked at each other, and Hades looked at her sternly.
"His soul belongs to me in the underworld. He is mortal no more."
"Then make him immortal, if he'd like it."
"That's an awful big request, my child," Aphrodite pointed out. "To bring back the dead."
"Your right, it is. But he deserves it," Piper declared. "Leo's probably had one of the hardest lives out of all of us. He sacrificed himself for us, for the world, and he deserves to be offered the chance. He's the real hero. Don't tell me it's too late, because I can name plenty of demigods that became immortal after their deaths. That is my request, it's up to you to choose whether to grant it or not."
"I want the same. He's a hero, and he deserves the chance, if it's something he wants" Jason reasoned.
"Me too," Hazel blurted. We all nodded our heads, and the gods looked at each other.
"And what if he denies it? If he prefers to stay in the underworld?" Hades questioned Piper.
"Then we will think of something else."
The gods began discussing it, and I kind of zoned out for a minute. Something hit me in the side of my head, and I turned to see Addie creeping behind a column. She was mouthing something, trying to signal it with her hands, but it wasn't quite working. I gave her a curious look, but she put her hand on her face in frustration. She made a shape in her hand, mimicked throwing an object, and then pointed at my feet.
"Good gods, Seaweed Brain."
Annabeth leaned down and picked up the ball of paper. She unrolled it, and I looked down at Addie's scribble.
Free Calypso.
Annabeth looked up at me, a confused expression on her face. We both looked at Addie, who was pressed against the column, obviously trying to hide from the gods. She mouthed something, and while I couldn't understand it, I got one word.
Leo.
"It's for Leo? Why would she say that?" Annabeth ranted.
The thoughts whirled together in my head, and suddenly it all clicked.
Frank had said Leo had disappeared while we were in Tartarus. When he had come back, they said he seemed more subdued. I couldn't really tell a difference, but then again, when Addie was with him, he seemed cheery. All the other times, it seemed almost….forced.
They had thought he had died.
Where did I go the time everyone thought I had died?
And why wasn't she already free?
"Hades, go to him. Present the offer," Zeus commanded. Hades inclined his head and disappeared in a swirling cloud of dark shadows. He turned back to us, a curious expression on his face. "And all of you want the same thing? There is nothing else any of you desire?"
I knew they were not good about keeping their promises, but this…I was angry. Hades, I was pissed.
"Well, I have something, but it should have already been done," I seethed as I pushed my way to the front. "Why is Calypso on her island still?"
Some of the gods got a ooo-I-forgot-about-that look on their faces, but Zeus answered pretty quickly.
"She's a traitorous nymph who-"
"YOU agreed to free. Wasn't one of you offended when I made you swear on the Styx? Said that I should trust you at your word?"
"Johnson's got a point," Dionysus reasoned.
"Jackson!"
"Whatever," he said with a wave of his hand.
Zeus sighed, "Fine, we will free the Nymph."
"I can go get her, Father," Hermes offered.
Zeus nodded his head. Hermes stood with his staff in hand and disappeared from in front of us.
"Father, I have a request," Jason said as he came to stand beside me.
"Go on, Jason."
"The Camps. We shouldn't be separated any longer. We've proved that Greeks and Romans can co-operate, and with the Parthenos back, it won't disrupt your forms. We should be able to work together and co-operate, if need be."
Zeus looked at Athena, clearly wanting her opinion. She just gave him a resigned look.
"You will stay in separate camps. Romans and Greeks will still follow the paths their blood gives them," he insisted. "However, I see no reason for communications to be closed, and for occasional visits to happen. If you two go to war, it's over. Now the gods trust you to behave, understood?"
We all nodded out heads, and Piper shared and excited glance with Jason.
"Now as soon as Hades returns, we-"
"We have one more thing to handle, Father," Athena said firmly. He narrowed his eyes at her, and she glared right back. "There's one more demigod who should be rewarded."
"Because disobeying direct orders is fit behavior for reward?" Ares scoffed.
"I'm about to put my foot directly up your-"
"Enough!" Zeus exclaimed. "We've avoided the matter long enough. EUADNE! COME HERE!"
-Addie-
I cringed when I heard my name being called. I wasn't even supposed to be in the throne room. I had been sent to do some meaningless tasks, but Urban and I had snuck back in.
Hera hadn't told me when to have them done by. I wasn't disobeying orders…technically.
"Go," he mouthed.
I shook my head, trying to figure out exactly how I was going to do this. I couldn't just walk out. I thought about transporting myself out and coming back in the front door.
"Euadne, I know you're in here."
I swore to myself, muttering every Greek and Latin curse I could think of. I didn't like this at all. I walked in between the columns and the demigods. It reminded me of when I pled for my brother's life. I stood in front of them, and they stared at me like they couldn't decide if they should kill me or hug me. I knelt down, keeping my eyes on the mortal floor. I knew other minors had snuck in to watch, and now that I was receiving my sentence, I knew more were coming by the second. I clenched my fists, in an effort to stop the shaking. I never liked this, being the center of attention. I'd much rather help people from the background.
"Yes, my Lord?"
"You disobeyed direct orders not to interfere-" I heard Athena make a sound, but Zeus must have silenced her with a look. "-no matter what orders came from others on the council. My word is law, and even if you found a reason to weasel out of it, it should have been respected and followed. You fraternized with our hated enemy, Gaia, and other traitors to Olympus. You disobeyed yet more orders and almost came close to destroying the world not once but twice. You have violated our most sacred laws, showing blatant disregard for any authority in this house. You have tampered with magic beyond what any mortal or god has dared to do. Do you deny this?"
"No, my Lord, I do not," I disclosed in an empty voice. If I was going to die, then I was going to do it with my head held high. I lifted my head, gazing into those pale blue eyes that use to frighten me to no end.
"And do you regret any of it?"
I should have said yes. I should have begged for forgiveness. My curse was urging me on, the pain peaking slowly in my head. I had to tell the truth. This time, I wanted to.
"No, Lord Zeus. I do not regret any of it. I'd do it again, if I had to."
"And if you hadn't, none of us would be sitting here now."
To say I was shocked was an understatement. It was so quiet, I could hear a pin drop. I knew everyone's eyes were on me, but that didn't matter. Zeus was appraising me, just like every other in the room.
"I misjudged you. What we did was…ill-advised. You've always had the best interests of Olympus and the people in your heart. Humans are fickle creatures, but you are not. Can anyone here contest that my words are false?"
The gods I had been close to looked at me with a look of pride. Artemis even gave me covert thumbs-up. I didn't dare look at Apollo, for fear of angering my father. Demeter looked uncomfortable, but resigned, as did Hephaestus. Hera just glared at her husband, but she kept her mouth shut. I knew one god wouldn't stand for it.
"Father, I-"
"Ares, I suggest you keep your silence. Your transgressions will be discussed later."
Ares sat back in his throne, looking sullen and murderous.
"I offer you a gift, but with one condition," Zeus revealed. "You will stay on Olympus, and you will continue your work for us. We have some things to…investigate… about your new condition. Do you swear it on the Styx?"
"I swear it," I promised as I nodded my head. I was curious as to what they could possibly offer me. This stipulation was not needed. They could order me to do whatever. Why would they ask if I agreed?
"All in favor of removing the curse from Euadne?"
I watched in disbelief as the council raised their hands. Ares even raised his hands after getting kicked in the shin from Dionysus. My father gestured for me to look behind me. The seven and Nico had their hands raised, along with all of the hunters and Thalia. The minors that had snuck in, including Urban, Alexiares, and Anicetus, had their hands raised. Even Hestia and Hecate stood in the front, smiling in my direction.
"The council of Olympus, as voted in its entirety, releases the hold upon one Euadne Cyra Aurelius Maximus. Your curse is lifted."
My body felt hot, a thousand times more so than when Apollo freed me. My hand flew to my chest, and I closed my eyes. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing down now.
I was free.
SO...What did you think? Worth the wait? I hope so!
