Erin, Ron, Harry, and Mira had come back to Hogwarts through the fire so they didn't have to take the train back. Hermione had spent the rest of the Holiday with her own family. The four of them were heading up to Gryffindor Tower, Mira as a guest since she was a Slytherin, after all. On their way there they ran into a bunch of fourth year girls. Two of them started talking to Erin and Romilda Vane thrust a box at Harry. "Hey, Harry! I got these as a Christmas present. They're filled with Firewhiskey…I don't like them, but I thought you might." She said giving her most winning smile. "See you later, Harry!"
The girls left leaving Harry confused and staring down at the box of chocolates in his hands. "What was that all about?"
"Harry, didn't Hermione have a talk with you about girls giving you presents?" Mira asked him.
"It's possible. She talks to me about quite a few things."
"Love potion, Harry." Erin told him.
"Oh…should I chuck them?" He asked her.
"We could give them to Crabbe and Goyle." She grinned.
"They'll eat anything." Ron snorted.
"And it would serve her right for trying to use a love potion on you." Erin agreed.
When they got up to Gryffindor Tower Harry put the box down on the end of his bed and put his stuff away. He would give them to Crabbe and Goyle later, he promised himself before heading down to the Common Room where Mira was waiting for them. When they got down there they found her talking to Dean Thomas chatting about the party Sirius had thrown over the Holidays.
Hermione burst into the tower excitedly. "Oh! There you all are!" She said seeing them. "You have to come down to Hagrid's! It's so wonderful!"
"What's going on?" Ron asked curiously.
Hermione was ignoring him and that was good because Lavender burst in around then too and shouted "Won! Won!"
"Let's leave them to it." Erin said as they the others left the room looking a bit disgusted at the whole display.
Dean tagged along down to Hagrid's with the other four curious as to what could get Hermione so excited. When they got there Hagrid let them in smiling. "Come in! Come in!" He told them shutting the door behind them quickly so he didn't let the cold in.
They took off their jackets and boots and finally they noticed what was different in the little house. There was a baby sitting on the carpet petting and playing with a happy Fang. The large wolfhound looked so excited for his playmate. The baby was about twice as big as a normal one, but there was no mistaking it was a baby. "All, I'd like you to meet my son, Wulfric Albus Hagrid. He just turned 1 year old. Olympe has a few things she has to do so I'm lookin' after him fer a bit. We spent Christmas together. He's a happy little tyke." Hagrid went over picking him up and the little guy smiled up at his father happily playing with his beard. "Sit down, Erin, and yeh can hold him."
Erin climbed up into Hagrid's arm chair and he put the baby into her arms. He wasn't huge yet, but was more like a two year old than a one year old. He had Hagrid's eyes and lots of brown hair from both parents. He seemed to have Hagrid's shorter, more robust frame. "He's beautiful, Hagrid."
"Aye, he is." Hagrid was getting tea together for everyone as they crowded around Erin for a look at the little guy. "He's the best thing to ever happen to me."
"I'm a little surprised Madame Maxime isn't too old to have children." Hermione said.
"That's the giant in us." Hagrid said. "Giant's can have children until they die."
"Witches also have a longer fertile period than Muggles." Erin told Hermione. "Even Muggle born witches have a longer time when they can have children. We tend to live longer. Some wizarding families are noted for it. Kaeli and Dean's especially. Their great grandfather Mans Thorsen was about 125 when he was killed by Death Eaters. And he was still strong and vital up until they killed him."
"What did happen to the Moon Clan?" Hermione asked curiously. "There isn't much to say how they were all wiped out, save Kaeli and Dean."
"It was a bad time." Hagrid told them pouring them tea and putting biscuits out for them. "You have t'understand You-Know-Who had been defeated not long b'fore. The Death Eaters were still out there killin' and hurtin' folks. It wasn't long b'fore that Bellatrix Lestrange led a group of Death Eaters to the Longbottom's and tortured 'em with the Cruciatus Curse cuz they were convinced they had information about where You-Know-Who was. Dark times, dark times," He shook his head sighing. "We were still afraid of what would happen. We were kept in fear of who would be killed next and then it happened…I'd never seen Dumbledore afraid. And I haven't since. We were sent word that Death Eaters had attacked The Moon Clan on the night of the new moon, the one night when they was weakest. They went in force, cuz Bellatrix and the others hadn't been caught yet. Albus and Minerva got there as soon as they could along with what was left of the Order…they were too late. Mans Thorsen was the last to die…there was no saving him. The Dark Mark was still high in the sky when we arrived. Women, children…it made no difference to 'em, they killed them all. Mans was still with it enough to tell us what happened. There was no warning. They were celebratin' as they always did. All but the youngest who were in bed. Mans told us the Death Eaters just appeared around them. Mans and his sons tried to hold them off, but there was nowhere to go, they was trapped. Only one had the courage to run and that was Magda, Magna Desideria Ødegård, they called her Magda. She was the wife of Mans youngest grandson, Kalle. Magda was an amazing witch, much like Lily was. She braved the lines of Death Eaters to get into their home and save two children, Karmen and Dynius. Mans saw his children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren fall to the Death Eaters. The stinkin' cowards would never have been able to if they challenged 'em any other night." Hagrid growled. Wulfric looked up at his Daddy for a moment and then went back to snuggling with Erin. "He had to watch his family die all around him. For a time he thought he had lost everyone…until he saw Magda with the two children running from their home. That gave him what he needed to keep fightin'. He took out as many as he could 'fore they left him for dead and put the Dark Mark in the sky. They wanted the Moonstone…the first stone, the most powerful in the Moon Clan's family. They thought it could bring back You-Know-Who."
"Did they get the stone?" Dean asked staring at him. They were all so caught up in the story by now.
"No, they didn't get the Stone. Mans told us they would never find it. No matter how long they looked."
"They messed with the wrong family." Harry said figuring it out.
Hagrid turned to him, "More than one, Harry, more than one." He was not only looking to Harry, but Erin too, and Dean.
Dean nodded. "I only recently found out that Death Eaters killed my biological father… we always assumed he abandoned us, but he didn't. He left knowing the Death Eaters would find him and he wouldn't put my mom and I in danger. And he couldn't even tell us."
"We're all effected by their actions, whether we know it or not." Hagrid said gruffly.
