"Where were you?" Erin demanded quietly pulling Harry by the arm to talk to him privately when he showed up to the Quidditch locker rooms. Everyone else was already changed and ready to go.
"I…well…" he paused looking past Erin. "Hey, wait a minute…why are Seamus and Dean suited up?"
"Just in case," Erin informed him. "After all the times someone has to come out it's just easier to have them suited up for it. Now, stop evading the question."
"Oh, right, I saw Malfoy heading to the castle instead of the pitch—"
"Harry," Erin said sharply. "Get it out of your head. Dad said to leave Malfoy alone and let him do what he's doing. Dumbledore and Snape have said the same thing."
"But I know it's Malfoy that gave Katie the necklace and tried to poison him—"
"No, you don't. You're guessing. Malfoy and Kaeli already told us that he didn't. And I believe him. Now, get your head in the Quidditch game. Oh for the love of Merlin—McLaggen! Stop telling everyone what to do!"
"They're doing it wrong!"
"I don't care! Harry is the Captain, you're just an alternate!"
Harry decided to drop the Malfoy stuff, Erin was already angry and he didn't want her to be yelling at him right now. He usually tried to give her a wide berth when she was like this. McLaggen should watch out. He inched away and went to change as fast as he could while Hermione had her clipboard in hand making notes on it. When Harry finished changing he stood beside her. "Okay, so good day today, a bit sunny, so try to use that to our advantage instead of against us. Erin, Ginny, and Demelza will be flying out there with the Quaffle, Jimmy, Ritchie, try to keep the Hufflepuffs off them so they can score. McLaggen, stay in the goal posts and be a Keeper," he told him glaring slightly. "Hermione? Do you have anything to add?"
"No, I've given everyone their statistics from last game and how to improve. Just everyone do your best."
"Okay, let's go." Harry said as they grabbed their broomsticks and headed out to through the tunnel to the pitch.
They all flew out except Hermione, Seamus, and Dean who were on the Gryffindor bench shouting encouragement. They all took their places. Madam Hooch was refereeing the game and once her whistle was blown they were off. Zachariah Smith took the Quaffle and was heading for the Gryffindor post when Demelza rushed him from one side and Ginny from the other taking the Quaffle from him. Ginny threw to Erin only to have one of the other Hufflepuff players steal the ball in mid-air. That started a stealing spree until Hufflepuff scored. "McLaggen, what are you doing?" Erin yelled at him.
He was busy yelling at one of the beaters for holding the bat wrong. After less than 10 minutes Hufflepuff was up by 70 and Gryffindor still hadn't scored. Harry started yelling at McLaggen. Fortunately Demelza and Ginny finally made some goals while that was going on. Erin scored once and Ginny scored again. Then they heard, "Oh! Look! The Gryffindor Keeper has one of the Beater's bats!"
Erin hadn't been paying attention to Luna until then and whirled around seeing McLaggen hit the Bludger all wrong and then hitting Harry hard right in the head. Everyone was screaming as Harry fell backwards off his broom. The teachers were frantically trying to get out their wands, before they could though Harry had stopped in mid-air. Erin turned and saw Mira with her wand out, standing just off the pitch, a white glow erupting from her wand to engulf Harry. Erin called a time-out and Madam Hooch blew her whistle. The Gryffindor players all converged to Harry and Louisa was hurrying out onto the pitch.
"Out of the way!" she called to the player as she got through. They got a stretcher and got Harry off the field to the medical station. Erin was furious as she turned to face McLaggen. "Erin! No!" Hermione and Ginny both jumped on the girl before she could do anything and managed to calm her down before Madam Hooch told them they had to continue the game. Erin told McLaggen to get out of her sight and to the locker room before she hit him with something. She shuffled the players around having Ginny go in as Seeker, Dean and Seamus as Chasers and she went in as Keeper.
Well, it wasn't as bad as Erin though it would be. They lost…but it was a narrow margin. Ginny and Zachariah almost got into a mid-air fight for the Snitch. Zachariah got the Snitch though. Erin had managed to stop most of the shots against her and the Chasers had tried their best. It was a good thing that McLaggen had the sense to shower and change before they got back in there because most of the team was ready to murder him. There was a knock on the door of the locker room and Hermione let in Gwenog Jones came in. She was smiling. "That was some game you played!" She told the girls. "I know it was a hard loss," she said sympathetically. "But you played better than I thought you would! I'm always on the lookout for girls that play Quidditch as well as you do! It's also nice when they can play more than one position. Ginny, I want you to come tryout for the Holyhead Harpies as soon as you you're ready. I'd take you tomorrow."
Ginny was still shocked that Gwenog actually wanted her. "I don't know…" she began. "I want to play Quidditch. At least I think I do…"
"I know you need time to think about it. Finish up with your schooling and then we'll talk again."
She nodded. "I will."
"The offer to tryout is open to you two as well," she told Demelza and Erin. "I'll be in touch." She told them before leaving.
The girls looked at each other unable to say anything.
