The three gasped at the figure that stood before them an old man with no hair at all wobbling his cane at them. "What do you young wiper snappers want?" The old man said trying to open his eyes

The trio looked at each other before responding "Are you Lt. Surge?" Ralph asked.

The man licked his lips and smiled. "The one and only."

"Wow you look so old!" Kenya shouted before he was smacked in the head by Ralph

"It's alright Youngman, why don't you come in so I can fetch you something to drink?" Lt. Surge asked as the three took a hesitant step inside the house

The house was covered in simple wallpaper and only had four chairs, a table and a bed. It was accompanied by 3 little Pokémon beds. The three sat down and waited for the Lieutenant to return with the food he promised. While he was making tea he asked a straightforward question. "So what are you kids doing, visiting an old man like me?"

"Well…we wanted to know if you were a gym leader."

The lieutenant stopped making tea and turned to them with a frown on his face. "Oh I see…..you want to hear stories about my past!" Lt. Surge leaped for joy.

"Actually we wanted to challenge you to a battle." Green corrected.

When Green asked a challenge of him he looked deeply into her eyes and said "Your Ash Ketchum's kid aren't you?" Green shook her head as he turned around. "I battled your father 20 years ago, he was good especially his Pikachu." Lt. Surge paced around the room his cane hitting against the hard floors. "Y' know I would battle you….but alas I'm retired."

"You can't be retired sir! What about all those other trainers who want to earn their third gym badge?" Ralph asked, standing up from his seat.

"That's tough luck kid. I'm afraid there is nothing I can do about it."

"But where do you expect people to go? The Kaz and Yaz gym?"

Lt. Surge slammed the ground with his cane. "I will not stand here and have my skills be insulted by a mere child!"

"He speaks the truth! And if you won't take our battle then I guess that's why you retired." Green spoke up.

The lieutenant and Green met face to face at a stare down. "You. Are. On."

The Gym

"Alright this match will be between Lt. Surge and Green Ketchum of Pallet Town. Ready? Begin!" The announcer declared as he brought the two flags down.

"Go Manectric." Lt. Surge shouted as he threw Manectric's Pokeball

"Go Jigglypuff!" Green said as Jigglypuff busted out of her Pokeball

Manectric charged at Jigglypuff with a Thunder Fang and caught it but Jigglypuff appeared unharmed and escaped Manectric's grasp and used Sing. The Manectric fell asleep and Jigglypuff used this as a moment to attack, using Rollout. The Manectric flipped in the air and landed with swirly eyes. "Manectric Return and Go Magneton." Lt. Surge called out as he threw Magneton's Pokeball. Magneton hit Jigglypuff with a Sonic Boom. Jigglypuff tried to evade the attack but was hit and fell to the ground with a large thud.

"Jigglypuff Return. Go Squirtle!" Green called out Squirtle as he ran onto the field

"You're just like your father, you have a baby Pokémon." Lt. Surge mocked her as he laughed.

Green flared up at that line and started off with a full force Rapid Spin, which knocked out the Magneton in one hit.

"Magneton Return. Your Squirtle is pretty good for a baby Pokémon. Go Raichu." Squirtle was soon at a face-off with Lt. Surge's last Pokémon. Squirtle hit it with a water gun but it dodged swiftly. Raichu hit Squirtle with a thunderbolt and he was soon paralyzed. Raichu took this opportunity and used Body Slam, crushing Squirtle with its heavy weight.

"Squirtle, No!" Green cried as silence filled the air for a brief moment. Then a light flashed underneath Raichu and he was blasted to the wall. Squirtle screamed at the top of his lungs as he began to change form. He grew Angel Wings and a cloud-like tail. His teeth grew sharper and his skin became a dark blue.

"Wartortle!" The newly transformed Squirtle shouted.

"Wartortle, The turtle Pokémon. It often hides in water to stalk unwary prey. For fast swimming, it moves its ears to maintain balance." Dexter 2.0 gave info on the new Pokémon that stood before them.

"Wartortle? Hey Wartortle learned a new move: Angel Star." Green said as she checked Wartortle's move set. "Alright Wartortle let's finish it with Angel Star!"

Wartortle brought one star down from the heavens and grabbed it. He climbed upon it and rode towards Raichu hitting it in the noggin. Raichu fell over with swirls in its eyes.

"Raichu is unable to battle; the winner is Wartortle which means the battle goes to Green Ketchum of Pallet Town!" The referee announced as he waved the flag at Green.

"We did it Wartortle and you evolved!" Green said as she hugged her new Pokémon.

"Well here you go Green, The Thunder Badge." Lt. Surge said as his referee gave Green the Thunder Badge.

"Thank you lieutenant. Three badges and five to go." Green said as she sprang about happily.

"You better prepare yourself Ralph." Lt. Surge warned.

"I will sir. I will." Ralph said nodding his head.

Well everybody this is Chapter 13 of Green Ketchum. Wartortle finally evolved and Lt. Surge is coming out of retirement. Expect a new story soon! Gonash7 out!
