Chapter 03
Jane only smiled a bit.
"Let's not have her ruin our moods, huh?" The brunette sad as she walked along the corridor with Maura.
"Though, I cannot apologize enough for Rebecca's behaviour. She is very mean towards you and I don't know why." Jane said.
"Is she your model for tomorrow?"
"It won't and don't apologize for her and no. Thank god," she grumbled but smiled nonetheless.
"I have males tomorrow and they are just funny. They are sweeter to me than the females are...except for you for some reason," she added and stepped outside.
"Did you drive?"
"Oh I bet you are getting hit on by the male models, huh?" Jane asked smiling.
"And I treat you just the way I want to be treated. So I am nice to you and you are nice to me. I don't see the harm in that." She said and shrugged her shoulders.
"And yeah I drove here. If you want we can take my car, I don't mind."
"OK your car is fine," Maura said and started to follow Jane toward her car.
The last thing she wanted was for Jane to see her incredibly expensive sports car and then question why she dressed the way she dressed.
Maura smiled, "Well you are nice, so thank you," she said back.
"Oh they just flirt for the fun of it...not for real..."
"Well, male models are players. They think they can get any girl." Jane said as she walked to her own car.
It wasn't something special or breathtaking. It was a black mercedes. She got inside the car with Maura.
"You have to give me directions to the restaurant, though."
"They are," Maura agreed and got into the car. She was finally alone with Jane and she almost panicked.
"Hum...easy, just three blocks down on the right..." she said as she buckled her seatbelt and smiled over at the woman. Maura rested her hands neatly in her lap.
"Okay." Jane said smiling and started the engine and drove off. She drove the three blocks down and then already saw the mexican restaurant.
"Oh looks nice." Jane said as she looked for a parking spot. As she found one she got out of the car.
"God, I really cannot wait to eat. I feel like my stomach eats itself already." Jane said chuckling.
Maura found Jane endearlingly adorable. She got out of the car and came around to the front, grabbing Jane's arm and pulled her inside.
"It's more of an authentic one...with music and everything," she said as they walked inside, were greeted and then taken to a booth. Maura scooted inside and sat back, watching Jane.
Jane sat down in the booth as well and then thanked as the waiter handed them the menu cards. The brunette looked through it, trying to decide what to eat.
"You know what sounds about right now? A Mojito. After dealing with Rebecca all day, I have the feeling I could need one." Jane said, while she kept studying the card.
"Ok," Maura smiled and waved the serve down to order their drinks and then she looked down at the menu, but her mind was elsewhere. She shifted in her seat and crossed her legs. Her chest rose and fell evenly.
"The strawberry ones are really good," she said after they had ordered the salsa cheese dip and chips.
Jane put the card down and looked at the blonde across from her.
"Maura..." She whispered. "...I am not allowed to drink yet, remember? I am not 21." The brunette said and picked up the menu card again.
"If they ask for my ID I am screwed."
"This one is on me. I am ordering two and will just let you sip on one," she winked and then laughed softly.
"It's ok, you are with me, I don't think it will be that wrong. I really don't," she said and shrugged. She didn't want to get Jane into trouble, but she couldn't think of how they would. The drinks were set down before them and no one carded them. Maura shrugged and pushed one toward Jane and held up her own.
"Cheers."
Jane took the drink and lifted it up.
"Cheers." She drank a sip and screwed up her face abit, since the cocktail was so strong and bitter. Jane then smiled and as the waiter passed their table, Jane ordered three tacos for herself and a glass of water. She leaned back in her seat.
"We both won't be able to operate a vehicle anymore after our drink...We'll have to take a cab home."
"I can drive on one drink," Maura admitted after she ordered a fajita burrito. She sat back and smiled at Jane as she had tasted the drink. It was cute and funny at the same time.
"I am not a light weight...never have been," she said softly. The cheese salsa and chips arrived and Maura practically dove right in.
"Needless to say that I never drink...maybe twice a year and that's it. And given to the fact that my stomach is empty, I'll get drunk pretty quick on my Mojito." Jane said and took a chip, dipping it into the cheese salsa and ate it.
"God, this is so good." She said while chewing and took another one.
"I know right," Maura said while chrewing and sipping on her drink.
"But now your stomach is not empty," she teased and then grabbed the same chip that Jane had reached for. It snapped in half and Maura smiled.
"So...do you really like what you do?"
"Well it's alright for now, I'd say. I consider myself lucky that I can do such an easy job. I just have to let someone take photos of me and get a lot of money for it. It's quick and easy money. But I don't plan on doing that forever...like I said, I wanna become an attorney." Jane smiled and ate another chip.
"I could ask you the same question but I already know the answer. You like what you are doing but not all the people you work with. How did you decide to do this? I mean you are a make up artist/hairstylist/stylist in one... Is that what you wanna do for the rest of your life?" Jane asked.
"I guess so...I mean I don't really know just yet. I have only been in the business for a few years and aside from a few people...I like it," she said, munching for a moment, smiling sweetly. Maura had gorgeous eyes and her lips were fuller than Jane's a little bit. Her skin was also just as flawless as Jane's.
"I think going back to school, what you are doing is a very wise decision..."
Jane nodded and sipped on her Mojito.
„Thanks." She said with another smile and took another chip and dipped it in the cheese salsa before she ate it.
„Well I have to say that you are doing a very good job... but it's not fair that you are the punching bag for other people." The Italian girl said and studied Maura's face some more.
In her eyes, Maura was absolutely beautiful and Jane didn't get why nobody else saw it. Did they not want to see it?
„But yeah twenty-three is no age, you can still go to College..." She said and shrugged her shoulders as their food came.
"Mmm I suppose you are right, but I am mostly happy where I am and punching bag? Is it really that bad," Maura asked as the food was set before them. She ran the tip of her tongue over her bottom lip and shook her head slightly.
"I guess I only notice it from a few of them...especially Rebecca. She gets under my skin...god..." she rolled her eyes but then smiled at the pretty one sitting across from her.
"Thanks for coming...it's nice to not always eat alone..."
"Oh welcome...and thanks for saving me from dinner with the other models. The dinner would have been celery sticks, cigarettes and booze." Jane said and screwed up her face lightly as she started to eat her first taco.
"God that is soo good." Jane said chewing and smiled at the blonde.
"And yeah it seems like you are a punching bag to most of the models...but you don't even notice it anymore. They don't treat you nice at all." She said and took another bite off her Taco.
"I guess I try not to notice," Maura said lightly and then smiled at Jane as she ate her food and said that it tasted soo good. Maura was glad that Jane was enjoying it. She licked her lips,
"I think I might have told you that it was good," she winked and cut up her huge fajita burrito to take a few bites.
"I kinda knew that you needed to be rescued..."
Jane smiled at her.
"Ah psychic also?" The Italian girl joked and ate some more. She ate two Taco's and then leaned back in the booth with one hand over her stomach.
"God I will explode if I have to eat more." She reached over to her Mojito and drank another sip, screwing up her pretty face again at its bitterness and the taste of alcohol and then had another sip.
"But you were right...the food here is delicious, Maura."
Maura laughed silently at Jane's face from the drink.
"If you don't like it, don't drink it," she said and was very much amused by Jane if not totally enraptured by her. She finished her burrito in almost record time and made sounds of pleasure.
"It's not psychic if I know about the parties, miss Jane," she said with a smile.
Jane smiled softly.
"I don't really like going to such parties. I always feel...like I don't belong there, you know." She shrugged her shoulders and studied Maura.
"And Rebecca is always going all nuts when she drinks too much." The Italian girl told her and drank another sip of her drink.
"What are you usually doing when you don't work?" Jane asked her politely.
"Hence why I told her to stop drinking," Maura said with a shrug and finished her drink in one strong gulp. She cleared her throat and smiled softly at Jane.
"I really don't do much. I like to go shopping...but that is generally what I do. I read a lot as well," she said, sitting back and nodding lightly. She studied Jane. Such strong features...with rich chocolate eyes, long black locks...long legs...perfect hands... Maura chided herself and cleared her thoughts.
Jane felt a bit lightheaded as she downed the rest of her Mojito. She wasn't used to drinking at all. She glanced at her watch.
"I think we should ask for the check. I need to get home. I have a class early in the morning." She informed the blonde and re-crossed her long legs under the table, accidently hitting Maura.
"Sorry."
Maura jumped slightly but then just smiled.
"Oh it's ok. You can use me as a kicking bag," she teased Jane and then raised her hand for the bill. Once it was given, she set down her credit card.
"I can take you home if you would like..." she said, forgetting that her car was back near the set.
"Oh no, let me pay for the dinner..." Jane said and rumaged in her bag for her own credit card and set it beside Maura's.
"As a thank you for being such a great assistant and great company tonight." She smiled again, her dimples showing.
"And we are here with my car, remember? I will call a cab, that is not a problem. The cab will bring you to your car and then it will bring me home."
Maura looked down at Jane's card and then smiled as she met the woman's eyes again and those precious dimples. She cleared her throat. She was losing her mind.
"Right, but I can just call the driver...and have your car taken to your place," Maura said absently, forgetting things and letting her guard drop a bit. With Jane that was easy to do.
Jane looked at her a bit confused.
"What driver?" She asked and handed her card to the waiter as he came to their table with the check. Jane paid and then grabbed her bag and got up a bit too quick, almost dripping on her highheels. She blushed.
"I guess that's the Mojito's fault..."
Maura blinked and looked at Jane from glancing out into the room. "Hmm what, excuse me," she said before Jane got up and nearly toppled over. She was behind her within a moment and helped her to balance. Maura found that she loved Jane's blush.
"Don't be...light weight," she teased, holding her lightly.
Jane blushed even more as she said that.
"I told you, I hardly drink...and the Mojito sure made my legs feel...wobbly." The Italian girl said. She got her cell phone out of her purse and looked at it.
"Uh, I don't know any numbers for a cab...do you?" She asked her. "I never needed one before."
Maura smiled, "Just let me call my driver...it's really no big deal," she repeated becoming lost within the other woman's eyes.
Maura was forgetting her own rules with this lovely woman before her and she really didn't care. She helped Jane sit back down and pulled out her cell phone to call.
Jane leaned against the wall and closed her eyes for a brief moment.
"Your driver? I didn't know assistants had drivers. I don't even have a driver." The Italian girl said looked up at the beautiful blonde woman. Jane crossed her long legs again and smiled.
When Jane repeated that she had a driver, Maura realized her mistake, but she couldn't lie about it now.
"I have a driver, yes, but I prefer to drive myself," she said, gathering her things from the booth and moving over to Jane as she sat, half leaned against the wall with her eyes closed. As Maura was closer to her, Jane realized how wonderful she smelled...rather how expensive she smelled.
"I like your perfume...it smells very nice." Jane said and smiled at her.
"A very rich smell...I can't put my finger on it. Though it smells familiar." The Italian girl said and looked around in silence.
"But I am jealous...you've got a driver...does the job really pay that good?" She asked her curious and looked in her eyes.
Maura pressed her lips together tightly and then losened them. She blew out a breath and shrugged.
"I think it's Diva Ex," she said, not really sure which she had used this morning. She smiled down at Jane.
"No, it hardly pays that good...I just, I just...well..I use it from my parents," she said and quickly dialed the number. It wasn't a total lie...but it burned in the back of her throat to say.
Jane was just about to say something as Maura was dialing a number and placed the phone against her ear. She sighed and looked straight ahead, being silent so Maura could talk. Maybe this all didn't make sense to her right now because she felt so lightheaded. She didn't know. Jane yawned and glanced at her watch again.
Maura hung up and looked back down at Jane.
"Do you want some cool air? They will be here in less than 15 mins," she said with a sweet expression over her face. Maura held out her hand for Jane to take.
"No more almost falling over, ok?" She chuckled softly, waiting for Jane to take her hand.
The Italian girl hesitated before she took Maura's hands and got up.
"I am really sorry. I am making a fool out of myself. You will see me differently now whenever you see me." Jane said and walked outside to get some cool air.
"And thanks for being so friendly, Maura."
"I certainly will not, Jane. I will not let you drink the next time...at all," she said with a sweet smile and pulled Jane to her feet. She then hooked her arm around Jane's arm and walked her outside and into the cooler night air. She settled Jane down on a stone wall edge while they waited and sat down next to her.
"No need to thank me...It is really who I am."
"Then thanks for being you." Jane said smiling, her cheeks flushed from the alcohol.
"I think I am back in the studio next week for one shoot. So I guess I will see you next week again." The Italian girl said smiling and waited patiently for the car to come to pick them up.
Maura looked from the street to Jane reached up absently brushing hair behind her ears.
"You are welcome," she said and then frowned inwardly as Jane said that she only had one shoot the coming week. Great...just great...Maura mumbled inside her mind, but she smiled on the outside.
"That's good...It will give you more time to study...humm?"
"Yeah, alot of exams are coming up now. It will be stressful." Jane said and smiled at Maura as she had brushed the hair behind her ears.
"Though after my exams, I'll be there quite often and you have to deal wtih me." Jane chuckled a bit.
"I am shooting for a fashion cataologue so there are so many outfits and shoots ahead of me...I don't even wanna think about that." The brunette said.
"Oh shoot...you? I will have to deal with you," she teased her and smiled before looking down the street. Maura tapped her knee absently, chewing on her lower lip. Being this close was getting to her. She sighed silently and turned back to Jane.
"I think it's good that you are getting a degree. I think it makes you smart...a class above the rest."
Jane turned her head and smiled at the blonde.
"Thank you...that's very kind of you to say. I just wanna be prepared for everything that could happen. Who knows, maybe my type isn't wanted anymore next year..." Jane said and shrugged her shoulders.
"But yeah, you will have to deal with me alot in a month..." She chuckled.
"It's smart and I actually look foward to working with you. You are just about sweetest model I have ever met. Just a great person to work with," she said, smiling. At Jane's other words she shook her head.
"You will be working for a long time...with that body and that face and those legs..."
Jane smiled at her.
"Uh thank you, Maura." She said and blushed because of the compliment. Jane yawned again and covered her mouth.
"Sorry. And you are the nicest assistant I met so far." The brunette told her smiling. "And the best looking one by far..."
Maura choked on her own saliva and looked at Jane with wider eyes.
"No really, you don't have to say that," she said, shaking her head and looking at Jane. She smiled a bit and to Jane, it only made the woman prettier. As Maura looked back to the road she saw the limo pulling up to the side of the road.
"Ok, come on," she said to Jane and waited for the younger woman to get up...making sure that she could.
Jane got up and grabbed the wall for balance real quick, before she walked over to the limo and got inside.
"Wow a limo? I feel very VIP now..." Jane said smiling as she sat down and looked around. She was half sitting, half lying in the limo.
"Uh my address is 902 Alberque Dr."
The back door opened and a man got out and walked up to them. Maura was smiling at Jane and then to the man. She nodded to him.
"Herman..." she said to him and then turned to Jane.
"Give him your keys and he will follow us," she said to Jane as she slipped into the limo first. Herman offered his hand to Jane to help her in. Maura was getting some ice water ready for Jane before she got into the limo
"Uh okay..." Jane was looking through her purse until she found the keys and handed it to him.
"It's the black Mercedes. Thank you, Sir." She said politely and leaned back in the seat again, enjoying the cool leather against her skin.
"I cannot wait to go to sleep. It's been a long day..." She told Maura.
Maura offered Jane a glass of water as she got into the limo. She looked at the woman fondly.
"Believe me, I know exactly how you feel. I could use a massage, a nice bubble bath, and some wine before my head hits the pillow," she said with a smile, feeling more comfortable around the younger woman now.
"Oh yes that all sounds lovely. Though I probably would already fall asleep during the massage and won't be able to enjoy the bubble bath and wine anymore." She said and smiled at her, taking the offered glass of water and drank a sip.
"I wish I didn't had to get up so early tomorrow." Jane sighed. "What time do you have to get up tomorrow?"
Maura chuckled and sat back, watching Jane as she took the water and spoke.
"I have the next two days off, thankfully. I took them off. I needed it. Been almost a month since I have had a day off," she groaned and stretched. Her shirt came up a bit, showing not only a slightly less flat midsection, but a very smooth looking one.
"Why?"
"Didn't you say you had male models tomorrow?" Jane asked her confused and looked at the exposed skin on her stomach as she stretched herself.
She didn't understand why Maura didn't seem to think she was pretty. She might be too short for modeling but the rest would have been perfect...great body, nice boobs, pretty face, nice hair...
"I did, but after today...I just want to sit at home and do nothing," she said with a heavy sigh and relaxed back down.
"Honestly...after Rebecca who wouldn't need a few days off. They will be ok without me," she said with a half shrug. Maura smiled lightly at Jane, looking up and down her figure and drinking it in.
"Oh yeah...Rebecca...she is something." Jane chuckled and finished the glass of water and put it aside.
"I am sorry about the...slap. That was highly inappropriate." The Italian girl said and yawned again.
"I'm so sorry!" She looked out of the window.
"It's not a long drive to my apartment, we are almost there."
"I know right," Maura said, flexing her jaw and rubbing her cheek absently thinking about it. She laughed silently as Jane yawned.
"Don't worry about it...It has been a long day," she said and took the glass from where Jane had set it as side and set it back in the drawer. Maura crossed her legs and sat back.
"I think you should go right to bed..."
The Italian girl nodded.
"That is my plan, yeah." Jane then fell silent and kept looking out of the window, until the car stopped in front of her apartment complex. She turned to look back at Maura.
"Oh I am home. Thank you for having dinner with me...and for the ride home." She said smiling and grabbed her purse.
"You are welcome," Maura said and followed Jane out. She leaned against the limo, watching the woman, smiling at her. She wanted something, but she had to just keep that to herself. She didn't want to scare the poor young woman.
"Do you need help getting inside," she finally asked her.
"I'll be fine..." She said smiling.
"I don't wanna keep you any longer. You look tired yourself. You had the same long day that I had..." The Italian girl said and saw the driver pulling up with her car.
"Oh, there he is. I really can't thank you enough, Maura." Jane said smiling. The driver got out of the car, locked it and walked to Jane and gave her, her keys back.
Maura nodded and blew out a sigh that tossed a few curls from her face. She watched the driver give Jane her keys and then stepped away from the limo, starting to get back inside.
"You are very very welome Jane. You deserve the nice things." She said as Herman came to stand by the door for Maura to get inside. Maura gave him a small look and then returned her gaze to the lovely brunette.
The Italian girl was going through her keys, trying to figure out which one was for the front door. In the half dark, and with a lightheaded head all keys looked the same to her. As she thought she found the right one she looked up to Maura again and smiled.
"Uh, so thanks again for the nice evening, Maura. I will see you next week. Don't let those other women treat you as punching bag."
"Oh believe me...I am just going to rest and relax for the next few days," she said, looking at her and stepping up to her. Maura hugged her, which surprised Jane.
"Thanks for being my company," she said and then quickly moved away and ducked into the limo. The door was shut and Herman smiled at Jane with a nod.
The young model kept standing there for a while, surprised at Maura's reaction. She smiled to herself and then went to her door and let herself in.
