•••••••{Author's Note}•••••••

Haha, I got a comment-from a very great reviewer, might I add-saying the plot was moving at a "surprisingly slow pace". Well of course, what makes you think Ciel would just jump right in and act like a total dumbass like Alois? He has a little more class, haha. Not to mention, up until now, this has just been a bunch of fun stuff leading to the drama. Anyway, it's funny to me because this is the chapter when shit starts going down! This last half of Detention oughta be fun to write and I'm seriously looking forward to it, along with all of your beautiful reviews...hopefully ^.^

P.S

You know, I just realized something. You probably won't like this story if you really like Lizzie. Honestly (even though she got cooler lately in the manga) she is just irritating in Black Butler.

••••••{Detention! Chapter 6}••••••

Mr. Sutcliffe hummed happily as he made his way to his office. He always showed up about an hour before school started. He stopped when he reached the door, noticing it was left ajar; his face contorted in confusion before simply shrugging it off, assuming he had just simply forgotten to close it before locking up the day before. He stepped through the door, turning on the lights as he went. However, as soon as he did, he fell to the floor letting out a shriek.

"Oooh, they are GONNA GET IT! Who? Who would do this to me? Urgh! You little fuckers! I don't get paid enough for this! Just you wait," Grell yelled to his imaginary students.

He was completely aware that there was no way to prove who had done it. Someone had gone to the trouble of strapping cups of random little things—albeit hard to clean—like confetti and candy onto the fan. That is, after a bucket of some unidentifiable liquid had poured all over him and the floor, leaving him soaked and covered with stuff.

"Hmph, at least they have some class...no tacks or anything...I just so happen to like jolly ranchers," Principal Sutcliffe said, popping a candy in his mouth.

His "little fuckers" also left him a change of clothes. The front of his t-shirt read: "Principal Grell rules all you high-school fools!" with a picture of him winking with a lopsided crown. The back of the shirt said : "Say, 'Happy Valentines Day' and obey the tyrant's ways.

He's underpaid yet he stays."

Somewhat manic laughter flooded the room.

••••••{Roses are Red}••••••

"I promise that I didn't do it! It was all his fault, I swear! Why would I of all people set up those stupid bombs?!" Lizzie shouted defensively at Mr. Sutcliffe who was leaning across the table, staring down at her.

"Elizabeth, calm down, if you may. Hysterically arguing instead of explaining to me—Will. Not. Help. You. Are we clear?" Grell spoke with a rare but necessary authoritative taint to his voice.

Lizzie sighed, eyes falling as she became embarrassed. She really had lost quite a bit of control and tact there.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, the blonde thought with determination, 'it can be done; if Alois can convince him, so can I. I'm better than him!'

Though, what she didn't realize—it was, in fact, Ciel who had used his way with words and persuaded the Principal.

"Well...me and Mey-Rin went to say hello to Ciel. I guess Alois got jealous and he spilt milk on me...on purpose! He tried to sabotage me. That's why I went behind the building. We had nothing to do with those bombs!"

The redhead stared blankly at her. He had been comparing both sides of the story in his head and had a stern look on his face. After a few seconds, the look faded.

"Meh, if I had a piece of Sebby's heart everytime I heard that...well, let's just say they wouldn't be fantasies anymore," Principal Sutcliffe commented nonchalantly, rolling his eyes and shooing Lizzie out of his office with a swat of his hand.

••••••{First Period}••••••

Ciel walked in ten minutes early for class and Mr. Michaelis rose a brow.

"My, my, Ciel. You are early this morning, what gives?" Mr. Michaelis asked the always tardy teen curiously.

Ciel, in la-la land, was caught off guard and answered with a stammer, "h-huh? Oh yeah, right, I woke up early."

"Hmm, I see," his teacher responded sceptically.

"Perhaps the extra sleep would have done you good," Mr. Michaelis commented, noticing Ciel's lack of attention.

Ciel was lost in thought about the phone call last night. He and Alois had set up some...well interesting things to say the least. It was Valentines Day after all. In order to set up their multiple plans—luckily not things that they would really get in trouble for—they had to arrive really early. He had probably already been at school three hours before his first period. Otherwise, he definitely would have been late per usual.

Slowly, his classmates began filtering into class and finding their seats. Ciel sat down as well, somewhat on edge, as he waited for him to find it.

"Alright, that's enough. Find another time other than the duration of my class period to exchange your 'tokens of love.' If I find a single wrapper in my classroom, I will make everyone write a two page paper on the usage of trash cans. Oh, by the by, any letters of love I find in my classroom will be posted on the bulletin board for everyone to read. With that said, will everyone please begin doing the bell-work on the board while I take the attendance," sighing in irritation, the raven-haired man scanned his class for missing students.

"Tch, that was a mouthful," Ciel said under his breath, pulling out a piece of paper to jot down his answer to the question: "Is Valentine's Day a national holiday? If or if not, why?"

What a stupid question, did it really matter?

"Any letters of love I find in my classroom, huh? Hmph, well, there is definitely at least one in your classroom..." Ciel thought to himself.

After Mr. Michaelis sat down to put away his attendance sheet and search for the file to put it in, he paused. Ciel, who had been watching from his desk in anticipation, tensed. When his teacher pulled out the box of chocolates from his drawer and read the note attached, he already knew what it said:

To: My Sebby

From: Your One-and-Only, Lovey Dovey, Grelly Poo!

The look on Mr. Michaelis' face was priceless. Immediately, Ciel lifted his notebook to his face to disguise his laughter. It took all restraint to not make a sound. Ciel watched in amusement as his teacher's face began to twitch in aggravation. Clenching his teeth, Mr. Michaelis looked into the box discreetly. Sure enough, he wouldn't want to bring any attention to his obnoxious candies. After all, his students would flood him with questions about the "lucky lady." He sighed looking at the assorted candies. To Ciel's entertainment, it seemed like the teacher's weakness was hit dead-on. With a look of slight disappointment, he closed the box and straightened his tie. Ciel deflated. In mid-step, Mr. Michaelis grabbed his stomach lightly with one hand as a look of slight embarrassment crossed his face. Ciel peered over his notebook, watching as it appeared and Mr. Michaelis' stomach started to growl. Without a word, he turned on his heel and went back, grabbing several pieces of chocolate from the box. He practically devoured them before wiping his mouth and regaining his composure, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed. Ciel, startled, almost slammed his notebook on the table before immediately feigning busy.

With a small smirk, he mumbled, "perfect," under his breath.

Mr. Michaelis returned to the front of the classroom after a moment and began asking students to read their responses to the bellwork. After about the fifth response, Mr. Michaelis wiped his forehead before asking his class, "is it hot in here or is just me?"

'Oh yes, definitely just you,' Ciel thought, and smirked at the several comments from his fellow classmates.

Such as, "you're hot alright!" from a few girls and this one dude in the back yelled, "so take off all your clothes!"

Half of the class joined in singing, "I'm gettin' so hot, Imma' take my clothes off."

"You immature brats!" Mr. Michaelis screamed, annoyed.

But it wasn't long before the teacher began breathing heavy and looking obviously uncomfortable.

He stammered, "I-I, if you would, please...give me a moment." He ran quickly out of class—it could be assumed, to the restroom.

One kid commented something along the lines of, "looks like someone's going through menopause..."

After a while, he finally returned from the bathroom, sitting down at the teacher desk and began assigning work as if nothing had happened.

"A-alright, write a valentine to whomever you please...but I at least expect it to be good literature! I know you are capable," He then mumbled to himself, "at least some of you are."

Ciel knew exactly what was wrong with his teacher. And it wasn't a fever.

••••••{Principal's Office}••••••

Grell was sitting happily at his desk watching as several students scrubbed down his office. It wasn't difficult for him to find his own little slaves. He had a whole school of them after all, more specifically, detention kids. What better way to punish his rebels than make them scrub the floorboards?

"Mr. Sutcliffe, sir?"

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"Uh, this is for you...I dunno, found it on the table over there."

"Hmm," he said taking the letter from the boy.

"Oooooh, for me, you say?" Grell said in delight, opening a love letter sealed with a pink wax heart. Had it not been for the confetti and stuff covering it, it would have looked very elegant.

"How classy," he cooed, eagerly pulling out a sheet of paper written in beautiful calligraphy.

Dear My Love, Grell Sutcliffe,

Let me first start by saying, I am sorry that I have pushed you awaythat is, until now. I know how difficult it would be to make a school relationship work. I want you to understand that it is important to keep a relationship under wraps while here, especially being of the same sex. Secretly, I am very shy about affection, but I could not restrain myself from falling in love with you. I may act as if I abhor you; like all things, there is a fine line, but in this moment, know in your heart that it's just a pretense. With that said, let us move away from me. You are my Lone Star in an empty sky. Every part of you is beautiful. More than anything, I want to run my fingers through your long red locks. I want to kiss those lips and stare into your captivating green eyes for an eternity. It's misery seeing you everyday and not being able to act on my feelings. All of me belongs to you.

Sincerely, with love,

- Sebastian Michaelis

In shock, Grell closed the letter and, with a lack of self-control, immediately made his way to Mr. Michaelis' class.

••••••{Ciel's First Period}••••••

The English teacher sat in the corner of his desk, legs crossed with a blush across his cheeks.

'Oh Mr. Michaelis, you're not so intimidating with a boner are you?' Ciel thought deviously. Each of those candies was packed with enough Viagra to cause even a 90-year-old man a problem and Mr. Michaelis had eaten three. It just so happened Alois had some concentrated Viagra lying around or something; he didn't know. He wasn't really responsible for those.

'I would have distracted him had he tried to eat more than that,' Ciel tried to convince himself as he observed his miserable teacher.

Ciel was in the middle of writing his letter to President Obama when his principal burst through the door. Ciel's eyes widened and he immediately grabbed his phone from his pocket.

••••••{Alois' First Period}••••••

Alois felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. No one really had his number, so he knew who it was without question-Ciel. He glanced at it, his notification read:

Ciel: Find some excuse and get to my class now!

Alois' hand went up like a rocket.

"Um, Mr. Faustus? I think I left my books in Mr. Michaelis' room. Can I check there or the lost and found?"

"Can it wait?" he huffed.

"No, my math text is there too, I think."

"So, is it safe to assume you didn't do your homework, then?" Claude asked, eyebrow twitching.

"Nope, I did it with Ciel at lunch, it's right here," Alois said, carefully pulling out the sheet so that no one could see his math book hiding within his bookbag.

Mr. Faustus sighed and said, "yeah, sure, I give up."

Alois then raced out of the classroom, hoping he hadn't already missed the show.

The blonde stopped when he reached the doorway and waved at Ciel before ducking to hide behind the door.

Grell was waving his letter in the air, shouting how his "Sebasy-chan" finally declared his love and how romantically sweet he is. Mr. Michaelis, on the other hand, had a look of pure confusion.

The redhead then attempted to give Mr. Michaelis, who was still dealing with a certain issue, a hug.

"G-get away from me! Hand me that! I did not write it. I would nev-"

"Oh you silly goose! Of course you did, you're just shy. No worries. Everyone here will accept our relationship. This lone star would love to kiss you, mwah!"

"W-what the hell! Get off of me!"

He was pushing Grell's smoochie face away from him.

"Oh well then, I'll see you after school. Then you can let all your emotions wild!"

Sebastian rolled his eyes when he saw Grell's shirt as he made his way out of the classroom. Grell completely ignored Alois' presence and hummed all the way back to his office. Alois ran back to class and explained to his puzzled teacher he probably just left his book at home.

••••••{Lunch}••••••

"Haha, we got Mr. Michaelis soooo fucked up! He could barely talk today in class. Who would've ever thought he'd stutter?"

"So anyway, you know what we gotta do now, right?" Alois asked.

"...yeah," Ciel said slowly, "but how?"

"Huh? Mr. Phantomhive, genius schemer, can't come up with a plan? What is the world coming to?" Alois asked.

"You fuckin' drama queen, alright, alright. He is already on our side; let's just give him a little more...incentive."

"Yeah, true but..." Alois began, "how can we frame her more without making it so obvious?"

"We can't talk to him or her. We have to be the innocent ones...hmm what was it you said the other day? Do something much bigger as a distraction and pawn it off on someone else."

Alois blinked.

"Uhh, yeah, that's exactly what I said...Yay! Now who's the genius one? Look at you, learning from me."

Ciel facepalmed as he had several times before.

"No, I was simply putting my idea in a way you'd understand."

Alois blinked, again.

Ciel rolled his eyes and in a happy-go-lucky way and said, "nevermind, I learn from the best!"

"See what I mean! I am the best!" Alois agreed with a big smile, completely oblivious to Ciel's sarcasm.

"Anyway, now that you have completely missed the point, we have to get Elizabeth really pissed at us in front of Principal Sutcliffe without doing or saying anything to either of them. This way, Lizzie will look like a total bitch and hopefully Mr. Sutcliffe will have no doubts who started the incident, comprende?"

"¡Sí! Aren't I good at Spanish?" Alois asked, excited.

Ciel narrowed his eyes before saying, "oooh, I want to slap you."

"Come on," he said quickly tugging Alois' arm. They made their way to the vending machines and Alois got a Coke. Ciel looked around him and thought to himself, 'yeah, this could work.'

"You've gotta love Valentines Day," Ciel said to himself.

"Got a piece of paper on you?" the "genius" asked.

"Mm, yeah, why?" Alois replied pulling a sheet of paper and a pen from his book bag.

"I don't know, maybe...let's write another love letter," Ciel said sarcastically.

"Ohhh, yeah. I got this. Let me do it!" Alois demanded as he started addressing the letter.

"Oh yeah...totally, you know, cause you're a brilliant writer, huh? That line, what was it again? Something like, You are my Lone Star in a empty sky?" Ciel asked with a smirk before bursting into a fit of laughs.

The smile on Alois' face dropped. They had written Mr. Sutcliffe's letter over the phone and Alois had insisted on that awesome, in his opinion, line.

"Hey, don't hate! If a guy said that to me, I'd be happy; obviously, Grell liked it."

"That's the only reason I added it, because you're both idiots. Anyway, just be to the point. We are on a time limit here."

Alois finished scribbling out the letter before folding it up and grabbing the nearest person walking by.

"Yo, give this to Lizzie, you know, the pretty blonde? Tell her this is a delivery from a secret admirer, thanks kid," Alois said slipping a dollar into the dude's hand.

The boy looked at the dollar then at Alois and shook his head.

Ciel sighed, "that'll work, I guess."

Alois followed the kid back to the cafeteria and watched to make sure he gave it to her. As he peeked in, he saw Lizzie look really excited reading her makeshift love letter. In her letter Alois had written:

Dear Lizzie,

Meet me at vending machines in the hallway at 12:45.

P.S

You're pretty. See you then.

- Your Secret Admirer.

Alois ran back as quickly as possible until he got to Mr. Sutcliffe's office. He quickly glanced to make sure he was in his room and casually walked by until he got to the bench with Ciel a few feet down. Ciel checked the time on his phone. Lizzie would show up to meet her non-existent guy just a few moments before Principal Sutcliffe would make his way to the teachers lounge for lunch a bit further down the hallway. Ciel smiled.

He couldn't even imagine his life now without Alois. If it weren't for him, he would be sitting alone in the cafeteria, bored out of his mind eating the crap they tried to pass off as food.

"This is the only time I'll ever say this, molest me or somethin', something she won't like to piss her off, 'kay?" Ciel asked, scooting closer to Alois.

Alois' eyes grew wide before a cheshire-like grin lit up his face.

Suddenly, Lizzie and Mey-Rin walked around the corner while Lizzie wore a look of hope. Ciel had never seen such a happy face be wiped off so quickly. The blonde girl was so angry, her face grew red and she began to shake.

"Uhh...um...L-lizzie," Mey-Rin fumbled out, reaching hesitantly for her friend's shoulder.

"What. Are. You. Doing. Here? And what the hell do you think you're doing?" Lizzie choked out to Alois, staring at the scene before her.

Alois had grabbed Ciel last minute, wrapping him in his arms on his lap and had his lips against Ciel's neck.

"What ever is the matter, Elizabeth?" Alois said gently with a smirk. He knew better than to make a bigger scene than her...but he still couldn't resist pissing her off verbally.

"THAT IS IT! I have HAD it with you. Stop treating him like property! You can't just go corrupting whomever you like. Believe it or not, I knew him waaaay before you. In fact, we grew up together. You want to know what is the matter? You, you damn slut. No one wants you and you know it. Stop acting like you are better than me!" Elizabeth shouted, while clenching her fists and stomping her feet.

In the midst of her temper tantrum, Ciel had scooted away from Alois and just like he planned, Principal Sutcliffe had been attracted to the noise with lunch box in hand. He stood behind her with a stern look on his face. Ciel and Alois sat with blank faces at her rant. Ciel was actually impressed that Alois could keep a straight face. He hadn't expected she'd go that far and she didn't have to bring up that. Alois' face lowered, catching Ciel's attention. He was wrong. She had got to him. A small tear escaped Alois' eye. Ciel's face hardened. He wasn't sure what happened.

"Look Elizabeth, I've been nice to you. But my courtesy only goes so far. I don't like you. In fact, I don't like you at all. Even when we were kids I didn't like you. I'm not interested, period. As for Alois, he didn't corrupt me, I do as I please. I chose to be his friend just like I chose to stay away from you. I am not his property and I sure aren't yours either. And in my opinion, he is better than you. He's not anymore of a slut than you are, understood?" Ciel said rather harshly. He had to get it through her thick skull and all that blonde hair. In fact, it would have been a hell of a lot worse if his Principal wasn't there.

Lizzie burst into tears and threw a box of chocolates at Ciel. The box flew open flinging homemade chocolates everywhere.

Lizzie, still unaware of Mr. Sutcliffe's presence was shocked when she heard him speak.

"Elizabeth Midford, that is quite enough! To my office immediately! Mey-Rin, you as well."

"H-huh?" Mey-Rin said confused at the whole situation.

•••••••••{Ciel and Alois' Big Tree}••••••••••

"Mm, these things are sooo goood! How'd you know I liked licorice?" Alois asked, munching on a stick of his Valentine candy.

"I dunno, just a hunch," Ciel answered, eating cherry cordials that Alois had given him.

"You know me so well! Hehe I love you, little Ciel!" Alois said to a stuffed panda in his hands.

"Why are you referring to the panda by my name?" Ciel asked, slightly irritated.

"That's his name of course. That way I can cuddle up with you every night!" Alois said innocently.

"Tch, ugh!" Ciel said with a blush creeping onto his cheeks.

Ciel leaned back onto the large trunk of the tree. His arms went behind his neck.

"Well, that was successful...enough anyway," Ciel said closing his eyes.

"Mm, yeah. The plan was ingenious afterall, I was the one who kinda fucked it up. But, uh, thanks, for...you know," Alois said a little embarrassed.

"Duh, do you really think I'll just let my best friend get ragged on like that by some bitch?"

Alois blinked in surprise and then laughed.

"I had know idea how strongly you hated her. So you two go waaay back, huh? That's good, just one less competitor," Alois said tossing a box of chocolates at Ciel.

"Huh? What do you mean by competitor?" Ciel said catching the box.

"Y'know, everyone just loooves you! They all want a piece of dat ass!" Alois said with a smirk as Ciel read the label.

"To Ciel-from, your Secret Admirer. This isn't funny, Alois," Ciel said, so tired of hearing those words.

"Hey, I didn't do it. They were in your locker."

"Well, they aren't from Lizzie 'cause her's are right here," Ciel said pointing to the box that had mostly had been thrown away from their previous floor exposure.

"And what the hell were you doin' in my locker?" Ciel asked angrily.

"Oh you know, nothing important. I just left my English book at home, so..."

"Bring your own damn books!"

Alois picked up the box from Lizzie.

"So do you think these are poisoned or something?" Alois asked, picking one up and examining it.

Ciel responded, "of course not, she likes me, remember? Oh well, she liked me."

Alois scrunched his face.

"Oh...well, her "love" is toxic," Alois said, using the candy as target practice on Ms. Red's classroom window.

Ciel snickered before commenting, "She'll kill you if she catches you, just a warning."

Ciel watched a smiling Alois throwing chocolates at windows and something caught his attention. The shorts. He hadn't really thought about it lately, but I guess he hadn't had Alois' ass in his face either. It was then that he remembered the very first thing that he was attracted to the first time the met. That felt like so very long ago and for some reason, doing worse things than before, they had both avoided detention. Back then, he didn't have any idea who the real Alois was. He was judging him in the same eyes as Elizabeth as ashamed as he was to admit it. But now, it was different. It wasn't just his ass. It was everything.

"Hey, Ciel guess wha-" Alois said turning around and in mid-sentence, he found his lips against Ciel's.

Ciel was kissing him. Eyes closed, hand resting on Alois' jaw. After Alois recovered from the shock, he kissed back passionately before pulling away. Did they really just...

Alois grabbed both of Ciel's wrists suddenly.

"Ride home with me," Alois said, changing the subject.

"Wha? Why?" Ciel asked in response to his random demand.

"I want you to go shopping with me," Alois explained happily.

"Oh we are not having a repeat of the mall. Hell no."

"C'mon, you're supposed to be my partner in crime, Ciel! We don't have to be doing anything weird. It's like a date."

Ciel burst into a fit of coughs. Alois rolled his eyes.

•••••••••{Buses}••••••••••

Alois was dragging Ciel away from his afternoon bus with all his strength which surprisingly overwhelmed Ciel.

"You are coming with me. No choice. Think of it as a club meeting," Alois demanded.

"Ugh, I don't want to ride with you. You drive like a kindergartener. And since when were we a club?" Ciel asked.

"Hmm, that would be cool, huh? We should totally make a whole club of rule breakers!" Alois proposed, dragging Ciel to his car and unlocking the door.

"Yeah, when that happens I'll quit. What are we 'shopping' for anyway?" Ciel asked getting into Alois' low-riding sports car.

"Clothes shopping!" Alois responded with excitement over-enthusiastically. He sounded like a little girl.

"Yeah, that's a good idea. You are wearing shorts in the middle of winter, after all. I mean, its not cold or anything, right?" Ciel spat sarcastically.

Alois huffed then said, "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Anyhoo, this is for you, of course. To be frank, your wardrobe is bore-ring!"

Ciel growled and said, "not everyone has a blind man's taste for fashion, Alois."

"Haha, that's what I love about you. You're funny."

Ciel turned his head and stared out his window to hide the second blush that Alois had caused him today. He really shouldn't throw around words like "love." Although, they had been doing that alot today-that with all the "love" letters.

Still turned away Ciel said bitterly, "Fine. I guess. Take me home so I can get money."

Alois smirked and swerved into another lane that led to Ciel's house.

"You jackass, don't you know what a turning signal is?"

•••••••••{Ciel's House}••••••••••

Ciel ran up the steps to his porch and opened the front door with Alois following closely at his heels. He walked through the fourier and into the kitchen where Tanaka was preparing diner.

"Good afternoon, Tanaka," Ciel said, planting a kiss on the old man's cheek. Tanaka smiled handing Ciel a plate of cookies to share with sat at the bar drinking milk and shovelled down chocolate chip cookies.

"Um, Tanaka? Can I have some money to get clothes today? Me and Alois were gonna' go to the mall again."

Alois looked from Ciel to Tanaka, wondering if the man would respond. He had never actually heard him speak.

Tanaka disappeared from the room and came back with an envelope and a smile.

"Thanks," Ciel said with a forced smile, "I'll be home later for dinner, bye, love you." He hopped up from the stool and grabbed his coat from the rack. Alois followed suit.

"Thank you for the cookies, sir," Alois said before leaving. Tanaka smiled and waved as they left.

They reloaded into the car and Alois watched Ciel carefully while starting up the engine. Ciel was turning the envelope over in his hands. Alois put the car in reverse and backed out from the driveway. Ciel had began to open the envelope.

"As I thought..." Ciel said to himself quietly pulling out a letter. Alois remained silent. He had picked up that something was a little off with the two of them. Something...unspoken?

He opened the letter and his eyes widened before quickly shutting it and stuffing it back into the envelope.

"Ciel...?"

He looked up at Alois before looking away quickly. Alois sighed, continuing to drive until he reached the parking lot of a park next to the mall.

"Hey, there's something I wanna do before we go, 'kay?" Alois asked happily, opening the car door and pulling Ciel out.

"C'mon, let's swing!"

Ciel's eyebrows furrowed but he followed him anyway. They sat and began to swing.

"Hey guess what?" Alois asked, enthused.

"What," Ciel huffed.

"It' supposed to snow! Like pretty soon. It was only going to be a little, so they didn't cancel school! Isn't that awesome? I love the snow," Alois rambled.

"Yeah," Ciel said, staring at his feet.

"It barely snows here. I want to be with you when it does," Alois said quietly. When he didn't get any sort of response from the boy, he frowned. "Ciel, read it."

Ciel looked up at him surprised.

"He gave it to you now for a reason. Read it. I don't care. You can be yourself around me. Laugh if you want. Scream if you want. Cry if you want. I'm here for you. That's why he gave it to you now. He doesn't want you to be alone when you do. He can't speak, right? I can. Just trust me."

"I-I" Ciel stuttered, sighing as he pulled the letter from his pocket. He moved the picture from the paper clip attached to the note and began to read.

Ciel, I'm so sorry I cannot tell you this in person. I am so sorry I cannot be a better father for you. I know it's hard for you as well. I wish I could do more than just listen. More than anything, I wish your father were still here. It has been heavy on my heart how much you have been miserable since their death. I wanted nothing more than for you to continue to play and have fun with you friends but instead, I watched you isolate yourself from everyone for years. You can't imagine how happy I have been lately to see you come home with a smile on your face just like you used to. I'm sure your father is smiling down at you as well. I cleaned your room the other day, I assume the "stink-bombs" I found under your bed were the cause of rumors I have heard from your school. At first, I had no idea what to do but then I realized, your father did similar things in his childhood. Your grandfather, my best friend, would get so angry! It always humored me greatly. Therefore, I rejoice that you have found a good friend to spread your mischief just like your father! Although, you be warned, stay out of trouble my dear boy!

P.S

I have had this photo since the fire, I rescued it and have kept it by my side ever since. I hope you will find comfort in it now.

Ciel looked at the picture in his hand. It was him and his parents in front of their home. He was chasing his black dog, Sebastian.

"You were so cute!" Alois said from behind his swing, making Ciel jump. Alois reached around and wiped Ciel's tears.

"So...what happened?" Alois asked gently, pulling Ciel into his arms. Ciel swallowed thickly.

"I won't tell a soul, promise," Alois said slipping his pinky around Ciel's. Ciel clambered out of the swing and sat on the ground with Alois.

"I was six when my house caught fire one night. It destroyed everything. My dog woke me and dragged me from my bed to the stairs. I fell down them and my face hit a piece of fallen debris. It knocked me out cold..." Ciel explained before touching his covered eye lightly. Alois winced.

"I n-never had a chance to save them...my parents. Tanaka found me. I had landed near the front door but he couldn't get my parents. He took in so much smoke, he can barely get enough oxygen even till this day. That's why he can't...speak."

Alois pulled his knees to his chest. It was if the weather matched the way they felt as snow began to fall from the sky. Alois smiled sadly and thought to himself, 'how poetic, it all is.'

He was having trouble keeping his mind off of his own memory. Images of a small boy flickered through his mind.

"Yeah, I know how that feels."

"How could you poss-" Ciel stopped his sentence after he saw the look on Alois' face. It was then he realized, he knew. He knew exactly how it felt.

•••••••••{END}••••••••••

Malevolent-Chan's Competition:

OMG, so who sent Ciel a secret box of chocolates? If you get it right I'll give you special credit in the next chapter! I really doubt anyone will get it right so I'll be impressed if you do. *Hint, hint, it really wasn't Alois or Elizabeth (I know, that's not much help, huh?)

Author's Note:

After the third chapter, I officially planned out all of Detention. The plan alone was the length of a chapter (it took forevvver!) So, even if I'm slow, I definitely won't quit! I'm not gonna have writer's block and if for some reason my writing is shitty, Astrocract will put me in my place ^.^ Anywayz, please support till the end and know I love you guys! Oh and if you really can't wait for the next chapter, I have a new Death Note Valentines story called, Oral Fix (you should check it out *wink wink.)
