World 0: Labyrinth

"Really think the princes can solve the maze before the princesses?" Alicia asked.

"Honestly? Nope," Alex answered.

Alex had gotten swept up in the challenge. This was his challenge but he intended it to be a free for all, instead Alicia had challenged him to a prince verses princess challenge. The end result was a bet between the two and Alex wasn't happy with his team. First the teams were uneven so Alicia decided to remove two princesses from her team to make it even, than the Prince's decided that the number advantage wouldn't matter. Than Mulan solved the riddle of the sun as soon as she saw it. Jasmine and Merida cleared the next obstacle by jumping over a gate and shooting the target at the same time. Elsa, Snow White and Aurora passed the balance challenge immediately. Most recently Ariel completed the underwater puzzle with no difficulty.

"Did I ever thank you for finding the spell that lets us turn Ariel into back into a mermaid?" Alicia asked Alex.

Alex sighed loudly as he watched the princes finally solve the riddle of the sun and continue on to the gate challenge.

The instructions were posted in front of the princes as Florian read them aloud.

"To gates are before you. One can be leaped over the other has the tinyest hole. Beyond both is a switch, both must be pressed together. Easy enough who's the best shot we have?"

John Smith and Shang both raised their hands. The two looked at each other and Florian could see that neither man would yield.

"Okay, let's hold off on that. Who is the most agile among us?"

Aladdin and Eugene rose their hands.

"Oh no." Florian said sighing heavily.

Meanwhile the princesses were facing their most difficult challenge.

"The strongest among you should be first, that's me. MERIDA!" Merida said aloud.

"Strength of heart, that could be any of us, and I am not speaking down to you but I have much more experience than you so let me go first, Jasmine responded.

"Strength of heart means 'courage' and not to brag but I am a war hero so I should go first." Mulan said pushing herself through, stopping only because of a blockade of ice forming.

"Not to brag or anything, but since everything has been straightforward up to this point shouldn't I go? I am the most powerful," Elsa said.

"Not sure if I agree to that," Rapunzel told the group.

"How long has this been going?" Belle asked.

Cinderella looked at her pocket watch, "ten minutes."

"Well look at that, the boys are catching up," Alicia said surprised.

"What? How is that possible? They had trouble on the first challenge and just navigating the labyrinth."

"Alex remember what the labyrinth is, it builds and strengthens you where you need it most. Even though the challenges are the same they test different things. The princesses did well because they trusted each other immediately but once they began to question each other they discovered there was no central authority to guide them. The princes discovered this and are catching up because they have elected a leader."

"It's an underwater puzzle? Eric go take a look and tell us what you find," Phillip said.

Eric immediately dove underwater and quickly returned to the surface.

"There are three switches and a riddle labeled one, two and three. The riddle reads 'who came before you?'" Eric said.

Aladdin stepped forward. "Three. It has to be three. Eric is the prince of the fourth world so the one that came before him should be three for world three."

"One way to be sure, we should have someone double check," Shang advised.

"Agreed. Eric come out and take a break. Eugene your turn." Phillip instructed.

Without hesitation Eugene jumped in and swam down to the bottom. To his surprise he saw the numbers on the switches change.

"I am surprised they chose Phillip not Florian," Alicia told Alex.

"I am not. They are all heroes but Phillip wasn't chosen because of his achievements but because he listens to everyone."

"But you could say the same thing about Florian and Henry," she said in confusion.

"Yeah but they yield to Phillip because of his experience."

"Slaying a dragon really matters."

"Oh yeah."

"So he was chosen for his achievements," Alicia said as Alex rolled his eyes.

"Left, right or forward?" Aurora asked.

"I still think my sister should lead she is a Queen," Anna said.

"Anna its fine, we all trust her. We should have put her in charge from the beginning."

Snow White stepped forward and looked down all three directions. She pointed left. "That way."

"Are you sure?" Tiana asked. "I was sure we should go straight."

"Trust me," Snow White said as she started to run.

"Alicia, where is Snow White going?" Alex asked her.

"Oh, I see what she is doing. She is good," Alicia smiled. "Come on let's get down there.

"Queen Elsa please freeze the wall ahead of us." Snow White asked.

Without hesitation Elsa let loose an icy blast and froze the grassy labyrinth wall.

"Now Mulan, Jasmine, Merida and Pocahontas if you all would please break through the wall."

The four did exactly as Snow White asked. The easily broke through the frozen wall and landed safely on the ground, but their surprise.

"The beginning? Why are we back here?" Tiana asked.

"It's not our beginning, it's the Prince's side," Cinderella noticed. "But why?"

"I get it," Pocahontas said as she looked at the others before stopping at Snow White. "Snow White noticed us competing with each other and didn't want it to continue. She must have determined that the others must be feeling the same way so she wanted us to reunite with the princes and complete the labyrinth together. And if you look up to the observation tower, it looks like Alex and Alicia have already agreed to this plan."

"You don't have to look up there to notice that." Alicia said as she and Alex entered the labyrinth.

"Argh, I hate these things!" Adam said as a paintball hit him sending him back to the outer most zone. The last obstacle was a series of towers that threw paintballs that sent anyone hit by it to the outer most or sixth zone. The exit was in front of them but they all had to make it.

"Shang what's the plan here? Most of us are back here but Phillip, Aladdin, Eugene and Henry are up in the third zone," Kristoff yelled to Shang who was in the fourth zone.

"Don't bother we are too divided. Shang is looking after Naveen and Eric. That leaves the rest of us together," Florian said. "John I think you're our best choice for a plan. What do you think?"

"Well we could ask them." John Smith pointed to the arriving princess and Alex.

"Phillip, come back!" Aurora shouted to him. Hearing her voice Phillip and the other returned to the starting zone."

"Well this isn't what I had in mind when I suggested the labyrinth for our next challenge," Alex told the group.

"No, but isn't this better?" Snow White asked with no disagreements.
