Ryse was splitting her concentration between watching the television and reading a book from the shelves when she heard the now familiar noise of the TARDIS engine. She dog-eared her page and unfolded her legs from the seat. She was the only one awake. Kevin had gone to bed while her Uncles had gone on a hunt, leaving herself and her parents in the bunker by themselves.
The door to the TARDIS opened just as she was jumping down the step. She saw Clara poke her head out and saw the big grin before she ran out to meet Ryse in a big hug.
"Oh I'm so glad you're ok," Clara said as she squeezed her tight. "Doctor, she's ok!"
"As I told you she would be," the Doctor said joining them, Ryse hugging him next. "So how are you feeling?"
"Great," Ryse smiled. "Dad healed me up nice and I slept long enough I'll be able to send you two home."
"Glad to hear," the Doctor nodded. "We were just visiting a few places and times here, getting a real feel for this dimension. Taking a few more readings and figuring out how this place works."
"We even saw you a few times," Clara added. Ryse gave her a confused look, tilting her head to the side. "You didn't know it though. Well, except for when the Doctor snuck you a balloon in the park."
"That was you!" Ryse gasped in astonishment. She was small and had been playing in the park. Her mom had walked away for a breif second only to come back to find out that a stranger had given Ryse a red balloon. Bringing the memory to forefront, she realized that yes, it had in fact been the Doctor. "Mom was so mad! I wasn't allowed to go to the park for two weeks after that."
"Oh dear," the Doctor replied giving an embarrased chuckle. "I just saw you were upset and figured a balloon would do the thing."
"Well when you have enemies like my mom does."
"Ah true, say no more," the Doctor agreed. "Where is everyone else?"
"Uncle Sam and Dean went on a hunt in Montana, mom, dad and uncle Kevin went to bed."
"I didn't think your parents needed sleep."
"Doctor," Clara said nudging him in the gut with her elbow.
"Oh right," the Doctor stammered. "Well then, as much as I'd love to stick around and say good-bye to everyone, we best be off."
"Do you guys really have to go? I like hanging out with you both," Ryse pouted.
"Actually, I have something for you," the Doctor said running back inside the TARDIS.
"What's he got?" Ryse asked Clara.
Clara shrugged, "Not a clue."
A few moments later, the Doctor bounded back out of the TARDIS and held out a cellphone like object to Ryse, "For you."
"What's this?" Ryse asked looking at it.
"If you should ever need assistance, give that a ring. I tweaked it a bit so that it can make calls to the TARDIS wherever it may be."
"But how are you going to get here then?" Ryse asked, fascinated by the thought this may not be the last time she saw them.
"Since the TARDIS is now familiar with you and this dimension, it will hopefully have no problem making the jump all on it's own," the Doctor said patting the blue box. "So, Miss Ryse, it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you and your family."
Ryse blushed before jumping forward and hugging him, "I'll miss you both. Thank you so much for helping me get home."
"We're glad to know you're safe and sound," Clara said hugging her next. "Thank you for the adventure. Give them all our best."
"I will," Ryse nodded. "How will I know I got you back safe?"
"I'll send a message to your inter-dimension phone there," the Doctor winked before lifting her up in another hug.
Ryse watched them walk back into the TARDIS and waited for the doors to shut and for the whine of the engine to begin. When she heard it, she placed both of her hands onto the door, calling her powers. She watched her hands start glowing as she she used her powers to give the TARDIS the extra push it needed to get back to their own dimension. The whine of the engines echoed around the room before slowly dissipating as it dematerialized into the vortex. She lowered her hands a few moments later, the travellers long gone.
With a yawn, she looked around the bunker, glad to be home with her family and for the new friends she made and after a nap, ready for the next adventure.
