"How's your boyfriend doing?" Dean clicked out of the video disgustedly. No matter how much he wanted to hear Cas's voice, he didn't want to hear him talk about how in love he was with Adam. He had been watching videos of his famous friend, gleaning what comfort he could from the low quality sounds. His phone gave a chirp and he picked it up.

'1 New Message' Knowing exactly who it would be from, Dean opened the text with a long-suffering sigh. It was from Eve.

7:41 'I wanna break up.' Dean looked at the message for a moment.

7:42 'Ok.' Suddenly energized, Dean stood and stripped the bed of it's blankets. He put them in the wash and set about destroying all traces that Eve had ever been there. By the time he was done, he was exhausted and very late to school. Without much care, Dean climbed into bed and was sleeping restlessly in moments, the smell of Eve still in his nose.

After that, time went by slowly for both boys as they waited for their reunion. Cas took tons of pictures with fans and got enough social interaction to drown a rhino. Dean, on the other hand, spent his days largely along, except for his short daily visits to his mom and brother.

When Sunday finally arrived, Dean couldn't sit still. He had the feeling that everything would change when he and Cas next saw each other, that everything would be different now that he was single again.

Cas was almost distracted during the last day of the con. The only way he got through it without making a total fool of himself was by sinking deeper into Castiel Novak than ever before- he was wittier, handsomer, louder. The crowd loved it- loved him. Cas was just glad when he got into the backseat of the car and was on the way back to Dean- back home.

When the headlights washed across the window, Dean leapt to his feet, facing the door. A moment later, he heard the car door slam. Another moment and what he assumed was the trunk. A few moments after that the door swung open, revealing a tiredly disheveled Castiel, suitcase in hand. He dropped to the floor with a thunk.

"Hello, Dean." The green eyed man grinned.

"Eve broke up with me." Cas paused and Dean froze. That was NOT what he meant to say.

"Oh... I'm sorry." Dena snorted.

"No you're not." Cas shrugged self-consciously and fully entered the house, closing the door behind him.

"No. But Adam broke up with me before I left." Dean's eyebrows raised.

"I'm not even gonna pretend to be upset." Cas smiled and nodded.

"Okay."

Later that night, Dean and Cas were catching up on the bed. Cas sat at the foot, head in his hands, staring at Dean, who was gesturing wildly with his hands as he told a story. The author smiled softly to himself, almost totally content. They had already discussed at length the events concerning Dean's dad and the possibility of Dean dropping out of school and getting his GED. Wrapped in thought, Cas missed the end of Dean's story.

"Cas?" The boy started, blushing.

"Sorry."

"Were you... were you thinking about Adam?" Dean looked nervous.

"No, no." Cas assured him. "Just thinking." Dean bobbed his head slowly.

"Can I ask you a question?" Cas nodded silently.

"Why did Adam break up with you?" Cas froze, though his mind spun towards an inevitable conclusion.

"Do you like my books, Dean?"

"You don't wanna talk about it, that's cool-"

"Are. You. A. Fan. Of. My. Books."

"Yes, Cas. You know that." Throwing caution to the wind, Cas flung himself across the bed, knocking Dean to the pillows. Eyes wide and nervous, Cas pressed their lips together. Immediately, Dean's hands were on him, tugging, pulling him closer. Suddenly desperate, Cas yanked Dean's shirt over his head, Dean ridding him of his as well. Cas broke their kiss to murmur in Dean's ear.

"I made a promise, when my books were first published, that I would never lie to a fan." he sucked a light mark onto Dean's neck before speaking again. "Adam broke up with me," he pressed a kiss above the mark. "Because I'm in love," another mark. "With you." Dean gave a moan and flipped them quickly until Cas's head was against the pillows. He grinned when Cas squeaked with surprise.

"I...I'm in love with you too." Dean leaned in to kiss Cas again, but he turned away.

"Dean... why was Eve here?" Now it was Dean's turn to freeze.

"How..."

"How did I know?" Dean nodded dumbly. Cas pulled him close and whispered in his ear. "I can smell her on my pillow."

Dean tried to pull away, but Cas's arms caged him in, keeping him close.

"I told you I didn't want her in my house and you still brought her here, probably had sex with her right where I'm laying now." Cas's voice was quiet in Dean's ear, almost scarily calm. "And, if I'm not mistaken, you would have had sex with me in the exact same spot. Do you have any idea-" Cas's voice broke suddenly and Dean could hear the pain hiding just beneath the surface before Cas continued, voice even once more. "Do you have any idea how much that hurts me? That you did all you could to make sure I never knew?"

"I didn't-" Dean tried to deny it, tried to deny everything. But he couldn't. Not after Cas basically promised he would never lie to him. He lay his head on Cas's shoulder. One of the author's hands found it's way to his head.

"Did you think I wouldn't notice you washed the blankets?" Cas's voice was almost teasing. "You vacuumed the carpets, for Christ's sake. But you did forget something important."

"Your pillowcase." Cas hummed his agreement.

"What am I gonna go with you, Dean? You knew her being here would upset me, but you did it anyway."

"I'm so sorry, Cas. I love you. I love you so much, but I thought you would never... feel that way too, so I just... I just got on with my life." Cas carded his fingers through Dean's hair as Dean spoke.

"Did you love Eve, Dean?"

"No, no, Cas. Never." Dean began pressing fever kisses to Cas's neck.

"Did you ever tell her you did?"
