Chapter Fourteen
The Angel You Are
I was still leaning against my bedroom door with my wings wrapped around myself. My mom had long given up on trying to make me open the bedroom door. I was terrified and exhausted. Every bone in my body ached and I still didn't know how to walk with heavy wings attached to my back.
I got on my hands and knees and dragged myself towards my bedroom window. Reaching up I grabbed my bed and helped myself up on my feet. I opened my window and jumped out.
I landed on the ground with a soft thud. My head was cushioned and protected by my wings and so was my body. I got on my knees and tried to stand on my feet but my wings were just weighing me down. Tears started to fall down my blood stained cheeks and on the bright green grass.
"Help me," I whispered as I felt a strong wind rushing around me.
My wings immediately started to flap. As my wings started to move up and down I was raised off of my feet. I'm flying. Flying! As I was high up in the air and looking down at my neighborhood with frightened eyes the wind that was rushing around me stopped! My wings immediately stopped flapping and I started to fall. The wind suddenly rushed around me and I remained flying in the air. Am I being taught how to fly?
"Learn."
"Learn."
"Learn."
"Learn how to control your wings brother."
I looked around myself but saw no one who could whisper such things to me. There was no other person around me that had wings and was flying.
"Concentrate on your wings brother."
I obeyed the stranger's order and closed my eyes. I concentrated my energy on my wings and started to move my wings on its own. The wind that was around me disappeared and I was left flying on my own. Laughing nervously I looked down at my neighborhood in awe instead of horror.
"Thank you…brother," I said as I heard laughter around me.
"Just an angel to another angel."
Angel? How? How can I be an angel? If I am shouldn't my parents be angels? But they're so ordinary. I don't even know if they believe in religion. My heart beat started to race and I started to panic. My wings started to flutter rapidly causing it to create a strong wind around me that thrashed me around in mid-air.
"Lord please help me."
"Please let me my mom live."
"Don't let me fail this class."
"Help me!"
Many whispers that were most likely people praying started to penetrate my head. I opened my mouth and let out a scream as I finally lost control of my wings. I started to fall and I was so high up in the air! My wings won't be able to take the impact and save me this time!
The wind rushed around me as I fell but I was panicking so much that I couldn't concentrate on my wings. I reached out with my arms trying to grasp something but I was in the air. All I could grasp was air! I was close to hitting the ground. The moon became less bright and I heard someone crying in my head. It was probably another angel.
"I'm sorry." I said in my head.
Closing my eyes I prepared myself for the impact. But it didn't come! Someone caught me. But who? I opened my eyes and stared up at Sasuke. He looked so horrified. I looked behind him and saw wings just like mines. But his were only dark like a demon's would be.
"You're an angel," Sasuke said as he put me down on my feet but I only fell on the ground.
"I didn't know I was one," I said as he took a step back from me. "Sasuke…"
"We can never be together," Sasuke said as my chin trembled. But he didn't seem to notice because he was looking up at the sky in fear.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because Heaven and Hell forbid it," Sasuke said as he jumped and disappeared in the ground.
"Tell me what you lovely people think,"
