I could feel the blood rush to my face.
Greeeeeaaaaaat…
I buried my face in Albus' shoulder, trying not to see Draco's smirk.
"This is amazing," Draco stated. "Now all we need to do is get Romana and James together and-"
"Their already together," I mumbled, trying to pretend that this wasn't happening.
Why did we always get interrupted?! I'm a good person-well, I think. I should be able to kiss my boyfriend in peace!
"Huh. You guys get to tell Teddy that." Draco laughed.
I turned my head so that my left cheek was against Albus' shoulder and looked at Draco. "You're not mad?"
"That you two are together?" I nodded. "No. That you're snogging in the middle of a hallway when you're supposed to be sleeping…Ah, I'll threaten you into oblivion tomorrow, Al. For now-go to bed! Crazy, nocturnal children." Draco muttered as he headed down the hall to his bedroom as Albus and I gaped after him.
"…Is that what you were expecting?" Albus asked.
I shook my head, "I was pretty sure that even if we told him normally he'd freak out and lock you in the cellar or something." Then I decided to mess with him. "Maybe practice a few Unforgivable curses on you…"
"What?!" Albus exclaimed.
Laughing, I stepped out of his grasp and opened the door. I headed in and tried to close it, but Albus stuck his foot in the door.
"You're kidding, right?!" Albus demanded, seemingly terrified.
"…sure…" I then cheerily said, "Good night, Al!" and shut the door.
"Night, Allie," I heard a considerably calmer Albus said from behind the closed door. "By the way, that was not funny."
I thought it was pretty funny.
Heading over to my currently cold bed, I slipped under the covers and into dream land.
In the end, Draco may or may not have threatened Albus. All I know is that one day I saw them come out of the study, Draco laughing and Albus looking as pale as a sheet.
A game plan for the upcoming attack was discussed. The Zabinis and Teddy had set up a safe house far enough away from Hogwarts so that we could send the younger Slytherins away. Alexander had sent us a note, saying that they were at high risk of being kidnapped and used for a next generation of soldiers.
Christmas and New Year's came to pass, each of them flying by in a blur of fun and excitement with underlying terror of the year ahead. However, the time for school came, and all too quickly.
It was early morning, as the train left at eleven and it was a five hour drive to King's Cross station.
The air as solemn and tense as the goodbyes were exchanged. Pansy and Blaise were driving us since they had to fly back to America-something about a pipe bursting-but they'd be back soon enough.
Everyone slept on the drive there and were zombies as we got out of the cars. We attracted some attention by all the animals and odd items we had, some people even looked at Feebie-Anna's cat (AKA-the ugliest thing known to man) oddly, since she was half-kneazle.
Our large group was split into smaller ones so that when we disappeared it wouldn't look so suspicious.
Finally, after another hectic morning, I was positive that everyone was on the train and happy. Sighing, I fell into a seat next to Albus laying my head on his shoulder tiredly.
"I am so," I yawned. "Tired."
Scorpius laughed sleepily, leaning back with his arms crossed. Rose was leaning against him just slightly reading. "At least we didn't run into the potted Weasels."
Rose smacked his chest with the back of her right hand. "Hush up, they are still my family."
Scorpius rolled his eyes, "Annoying family."
Romana chuckled, "When Malfoy's snarky, that's when you know he is about to fall into a coma."
"Shut up, Sattler."
She shot Scorpius a glare and he just shook his head, his body shaking with silent laughter.
The door to our compartment slid open, the sound of arguing reaching out ears.
"I just don't understand why you won't tell us!" The most annoying sound exclaimed.
Oh, great. "You just had to jinx us, Scorp, didn't you?" James sighed, looking at his father, aunt and uncle. His eyes furrowed at the sight of his dad and uncle. "Dad? Uncle Ron? Whatcha doing here? And Aunt Hermione, teachers don't take the train."
Professor's jaw dropped as she looked at all of us. Weasel seemed down right pissed and Mr Potter just seemed rather tired.
"Security reasons," Mr Potter told James, then shot a look at Professor. "Told you they weren't dead."
"Well, I wouldn't know, would I?" Professor asked testily. "Since you wouldn't tell me anything!" She then turned to look at me. "And you! How dare you take my child and nephews?! You are corrupting them, you filthy, little-!"
"Mudblood?" I asked fed up, standing up and crossing my arms. "Cause, if that's what you were going to say, then aren't you kind of undermining what you were fighting for in the war?"
"I was going to say bitch," Professor hissed.
"Wouldn't be the first time," I shrugged. Which was true, I tend to get on people's bad side. Shocking, isn't it? "And, might I remind you, that I was asleep when everyone decided to leave? Actually, it was your daughter who had the idea. Romana was just doing was Romana does best and acting on insane impulses. She would have changed her mind ten seconds flat if Rose hadn't decided to follow."
"You don't know that!" Weasel protested.
I raised a single eyebrow at him, "Excuse me, have you known Romana for five years?" He was quiet. "No? Then shut it. You have no idea what she would have or would not have done."
"Do you even know how much I've done for you?!" Professor exclaimed.
I scoffed. "What have you done besides cause a rebellion? You haven't even been inside the dorm!"
"Yes, I have," Professor lied. "I go in when you sleep."
"Oh," I went along with it. "So you've seen our beds?"
"Yep," She replied. "Your own beds decorated in silver and green."
I laughed humorlessly at this and looked down at the floor. After a few minutes, I lifted just my eyes. "The sleeping chambers have been flooded for about as long as I've been alive," I explained. "We sleep in the Common Room. On the floor."
The blood noticeably drained from her face as she looked at me with shocked eyes.
"Is that true?" Professor asked, her voice just above a whisper.
I rolled my eyes at her. "Why do you care?" I spat. "We're just some death eaters in training, aren't we? I'm mean, for Merlin's sake, you were all surprised when the Slytherins in your generation turned evil! Seriously, sneaking into our own Common room, pretending to be someone's best friends? How stupid do you think we are?!"
Mr Potter looked at me with furrowed eyebrows, though there was something close to laughter in his expression. "What are you talking about?"
"Draco told us the story when Allie coughed up about being a parselmouth," Romana said. "He still laughs at how you thought he was dumb enough to fall for that."
"He didn't?" Weasel asked, confused.
Scorpius gaped at Weasel. "Didn't she just-Never mind…"
"A hundred points from Slytherin, each." Professor growled as an ending statement. She turned on her heel, yet caught Scorpius raising his hand out of the corner of her eye. "Yes, Mr Malfoy?"
"I was just wondering, you can give negative points?"
She stormed out angrily as Scorpius laughed at her misfortune.
"Ugh," I groaned, burying my face into Albus' shoulder. "It is way too early to deal with this."
As usual, it was already past dark when we got to the castle. Romana, Rose, Josh and I were about to get on the carriage, when Josh suddenly froze. The look of terror in his eyes was evident.
"Josh…" I asked, slightly worried. "Are you OK?"
"What are those things?" Josh asked shakily, his voice barely above a whisper.
Turning to see what he was looking at, I noticed the thestral pulling the carriage. He couldn't…but, could he?
"This is a weird question," I warned. "But have you seen someone die?"
Josh looked at the floor, "My mum and dad. They died in a car crash when I was six."
Romana looked at me weirdly. "Allie, what are you talking about?"
I sighed, turning to her. "He can see the thestrals." I turned back to Josh. "Their harmless, Josh, but don't worry. You're just as sane as I am."
"Which means you should worry greatly," A familiar voice said jokingly. Mr Potter stopped next to our group. "Aladdin, would you mind if I talked to for a bit?"
"Um…" I looked at Romana who just shrugged. "Sure."
With that, Mr Potter and I caught the next empty carriage. I sat with my back facing the front of the carriage, Mr Potter was in front of me.
"What's up?"
"This rebellion," Mr Potter began. "How…serious do you think it is?"
"I don't know," I sighed. "But you've created the most dangerous enemy-the one with nothing to lose. They can't support themselves because they won't be hired by anyone magical. To the muggle world, they don't exist meaning they can't thrive-just survive. The Malfoys are a lucky exception because they were able to transfer most of their wealth to muggle money and they live in Cornwall-the place where buildings are still in the names of people who died in the sixteen hundreds. On top of that, they're just scared kids who people already hate. The mistake of contacting Lucius, even just once, would be used against them greatly."
Mr Potter groaned, putting his head in his hands. "This wasn't supposed to happen. Our generation had to fight in a war so that this one wouldn't have to."
"And they don't." I promised. "Rose, Albus and James-we're trying to keep them out of it. This is a family fight; and no one on my side is going to shoot any forbidden curses. With luck, they won't want to harm us since we're basically family."
Mr Potter shook his head sadly, "That's not what I meant. None of you should have to deal with this."
I shrugged, "This is just table scraps. No one's died and-hopefully-no one will."
A smile graced his face as the carriage pulled to a stop, "At least someone hasn't lost hope yet."
I sat down at the table, annoyed when I saw Anna talking animatedly to Josh. The tough thing was that I actually liked Josh, but he had a crush on Anna-it was pretty obvious. That was a big problem for me.
"Hello, students," Professor McGonagall smiled at all of us, even us Slytherins. "I hope you all had a fantastic winter break. As you probably noticed, there are a few more people at the Teacher table than usual." She gestured to Weasel and Mr Potter sitting behind her. "Mr Weasley, Mr Potter, please stand." They stood slowly to applause, a few whistles from the Gryffindor table. "They are here to test our security. It's routine, there's nothing to be afraid of. Now, without further to do, let's eat."
In seconds the food appeared on the table. However, looking over at the teacher's table, there seemed to be something slightly off about the food. It's a magical trait to be able to sense another creature or person that contains magic. However faint it was, the drink seemed tainted. Before I could bring it up, though, I heard a low, long hiss.
"Misssstressss," The Basilisk called, causing me to jump slightly.
"What do you want?" I muttered under my breath in Parseltongue, pretending to be eating what was on my plate. I caught Albus' gaze from the Gryffindor table that Professor Granger-Weasley had made him sit at, and he was clearly curious.
"There'sss ssssomething in the kitchen." The over grown snake hissed. "I went to check, but all I sssseee are housssselvessss."
"What are you doing in the kitchen?!" I demanded angrily, yet still quietly. "Do you want to kill a House Elf?"
"No," It defended. "My job issss to protect the heirssss. Ssssomething isss wrong."
Scorpius who was sitting across from me spoke up, "Allie, is something wrong?"
I groaned, "The Basilisk is saying something's in the kitchen."
His eyebrows furrowed worryingly. "The kitchen? Aladdin, we need to go check on that. You know they're going to try and poison the teachers."
"They wouldn't dare do it so early into the second term." I assured.
"I don't think we should risk it," Scorpius protested.
"Fine!" I exclaimed. "If you want to explore it so bad, why don't you go check?"
Scorpius narrowed his eyes at me and opened his mouth to speak, yet was interrupted. There was a cry from Professor Trelawney as she waved her wand around frantically, yet nothing happened.
Uh-oh…
I AM SO SORRY! I have been just swamped! I just started my Freshman year of high school and so I'm still trying to get used to the homework load. I'm going to try my hardest to post a chapter a week and I am so glad that you have all stuck with me. I'm sorry that the chapter is short.
As you can probably tell, things are heating up and quick.
Bye,
Raven.
