Chapter 13
A/N Wow! It's certainly been awhile! Don't worry, I'm back and I haven't let the craziness called life stop me for a moment. So, here we go! This chapter is about everyone's favorite hockey-loving vigilante! This happened before the Ivasion and season 3 FYI.
Life with Turtles
Sick
A powerful sneeze let itself loose in the lair. Raphael lifted his head to look at his only male human friend.
"Jeez, think they heard you topside?"
Casey Jones just sniffled and glared at the red banded turtle.
"yeah, I sneeze loud. I know. It's nothing."
The truth, Casey Jones felt like complete and utter crap. His nose was running so much he had to hide a wad of tissues in his pocket. His head was throbbing he wasn't even yelling or shouting like he normally does. He almost lost it when Leo brought up patrol.
"No, I mean…. I can't. I need to go home and watch my little sister, dad's out working until late and she doesn't want to be left home alone."
The dark haired teen received several skeptical stares. The slightly concerned look April gave him was the first to change into slight suspicion.
"You sure Casey? If it's to cram for that trig exam I could stay and help-"
"No no, it's ok Red. I just need to get home. Catch you guys later alright?"
"M'kay, bye."
"later Jones."
"Bye Casey"
"Get home safely"
With their brief goodbyes the turtles started heading out of the lair. Leaving the two human teens alone for a couple seconds
"You sure you're ok?"
"Yeah, why?" Worried about me?"
"tch. Yeah, worried you're up to something stupid and dangerous."
"C'mon April, you know me. Live for the danger."
"yeah, later Casey. Be careful, ok?"
With that last farewell April left to join the turtles while Casey walked the opposite direction to get home.
When he arrived he looked at the clock, it was only 3:30, his little sister would be at a friend's house for another half an hour so he trudged to his bedroom. When he walked into his private space of the apartment. He expertly hid all the gear that had to do with him being a vigilante and threw himself into his bed. Shutting his eyes he decided sleep for a day or so wouldn't possibly hurt.
The teen's plans for sleep were ruined when his bedroom door slowly creaked open. A little pitter patter of feet followed.
"Casey"
"…."
"Casey!"
A moan followed
"Wha….?"
Casey looked up to see a young girl with eyes as dark as his along with a nicely groomed head of hair that was as black as his.
"What do you want Angel?"
"Nice to see you to bro. What's the mater? You look like you're about to barf."
Casey sat up only to be greeted by a head rush and flipping stomach.
"Ugh…"
The mask-less vigilante wished he was still sleeping. He grabbed a water bottle he kept by his bed and drank 2 gulps. Praying that would settle his stomach he laid back down.
"Can we talk later Angel? I'm kinda in the middle of something here"
"You don't look busy"
"I'm trying to keep my lunch in my stomach here."
"Oh, well…. Ok I"ll come back in a little while to check on you ok?"
With that Angel kissed her older brother on the cheek and left the room.
"I just need to sleep it off"
With more time passing Casey Jones finally fell into a very fitful sleep.
Several days after Casey first miss patrol the turtles hadn't heard from the hockey player so they decided to drop by and check on him
"This is the address, ok which one is his?"
The four turtles arrived on the rooftop of the building parallel to the apartment building Casey lived in.
"April said it was the third story"
Raph shrugged and jumped on one of the fire escapes on the third level. Thank goodness Casey said his bedroom led to the fire escape, how the vigilante said he often left the apartment to join the turtles for patrol, he peered inside.
"Hey guys! This looks like it could be it!"
Raph opened the window and slipped inside followed by his brothers. They squinted slightly in the darkly lit room. They heard faint snoring and turned their heads to see their friend sprawled on his bed half covered by a blanket.
"Well, found Casey. Now let's get out of here before his dad or sister come in here or, worse, he wakes up"
"C'mon D, just chill we're ninjas they won't hear us. Plus if he wakes up what's he going to do? Scream?"
Leonardo turned to his two bickering brothers.
"Considering that we just broke into his room and are just watching him sleep like a bunch of creeps? Yeah, he might."
The three were two busy arguing to notice Casey sitting up. He stared at the four turtles with sleepy and slightly confused eyes.
"Ahem"
The turtles turned to their friend who had a tired expression and messy hair, well messier than usual for Casey Jones.
"Casey, you feeling better?"
"Peachy, what are you guys doing here?"
"We just wanted to see how you're doing. Also we wanted to know if you wanted some pizza noodle soup"
Casey cringed at the memory of the first time he accidently ate some pizza noodle soup, he choked it down and said it was good in order to keep from hurting Mikey's feelings.
"Nah, I'm good."
"Dude, you're room is cool!"
Michelangelo gave himself permission to poke through the teenager's cluttered room.
"What's this?"
"Poster from a concert I went to two years ago"
"What's this?"
"First hockey trophy from a game when I was 8"
"What's this?"
"the case for my mouth guard"
The three brothers rolled their eyes as Mikey seemed interested as to what everything in the room was and what the story behind it was.
"and this?"
"t-shirt from practice the other day"
"It' smells…"
"Haven't washed it yet"
Mikey threw the sweat shirt behind it only to have it land right in Donatello's unsuspecting face.
"ew! EW! Germs! From Casey!"
The purple masked turtle wasted absolutely no time using his bo staff to fling the offending article of clothing across the room"
"stop goofing around you two! Sorry Casey, we didn't mean to wake you, or make an even bigger mess out of your room…"
"nah, it's cool. I was getting a little bored anyway."
The turtles were about to leave when they heard footsteps at the door.
"Casey..? I'm coming in! I have something for to you to eat!"
"Oh no, that's Angel. You guys gotta hide!"
The four turtles rushed around and found places to hide in their friend's room right as the door opened.
"You talking in your sleep again?"
"No"
"I thought I heard voices"
"That was all in your little imagination"
"whatever Casey. Here's some soup"
As the pajama-clad girl turned to leave she spied the window open.
"Did you open this? Dad said no open windows when you're sick. You're letting cold air in"
"Oh, must've left it open sorry"
Angel raised a brow at him and shook her head before turning and leaving.
"Phew, ok guys you better go before she comes back"
"alright later Casey"
Leonardo leapt out the window from under Casey's bed.
"see ya man"
Raph made a break for the window from the top shelf in the closet.
"Bye Casey"
Donatello made his way to the window from the space between the wall and dresser.
"…. ok where's number 4?"
"look! I'm Casey!"
The four other teens whipped their heads around to see Michelangelo donning the hockey mask worn by Casey.
"Googn… whata? Goongala right? Goongala!"
Raphael slapped his brother behind the head and started leading him towards the window.
"Take that off you idiot, before you catch whatever craziness Casey has"
"Aww, I'm touched Raph. Jealous that I might rub off on your little bro?"
Raph shook his head before tossing the mask at Casey and shutting the window.
Casey sighed and laid back down on his bed. He just needed one more night's sleep and he'd be back to his standard of normal, after all he couldn't let Purple Dragons run around without bashed heads now could he?
A/N Ok, there you go. Hope you guys forgive me for being off the radar for so long. Leave your reviews! And don't be shy to leave an idea for a one shot! Til next time!
