Chapter 13: Electrifying Beat Down
As it rained outside of the studios building, KW, Dark, Luke and Jet all stare outside the window as they watched the rain fall down to the ground continuously.
Everyone: ...*Sigh in boredom*...
Jet: There's nothing to do...
Luke: We could always go back and start writing...
Dark: Yeah...but I'm already bored from that...
KW: Hmm... *Gasps* I know!
Everyone: What?
KW: Okay, so...it's raining, right?
Luke: *Sarcasm* You don't say?!
KW: ...Shut up Luke...Well, what do we do when it rains?
Taking a moment to figure out what he meant, they all gasped quietly and figured out what he meant.
Dark: Well it is raining...
Jet: Then this calls for action!
Luke: No! This calls for hats!
Everyone: YEAH!
Everyone, except for KW, all put on different kinds of hats as they all smile cheekly at each other for some odd reason.
KW: ...*Whispers* Hats are awesome...Disclaimer?

A truly amazing day happened to our heroes recently. A couple days ago, Kidan, Cealy and Sora had gotten themselves lost once again with Sora leading them off the wrong trail of the map they had been following. What seemed hopeless, Cealy's Pokemon, Spree, was able to find a place for them to stay overnight. When they followed her, they came across a large lighthouse that stood over a cliff above the ocean. There, they met a man named Bill, who was also a Pokemon Researcher and a good friend to Professor Oak. He had showed and explained to them the wonders of the Pokemon and their world, as well as explaining that there were more Pokemon than they could even count. Even more than a thousand, maybe a million.
But what Bill's research was about so far was a mysterious Pokemon that was said to cross the ocean looking for friends, searching far and wide for someone to meet, as it was very lonely. On that night, they were acquainted with the mystery Pokemon, who was very large and wide, almost the height of the lighthouse itself. But before anything could really happen, Team Rocket agents, Darek and Chelse, intervined with their plans and tried to weaken and capture the massive and rare Pokemon. However, that soon backfired as the Pokemon send them packing and had destroyed the top part of the lighthouse, almost crushing Bill and our heroes from above. Begging for the Pokemon to not leave, they had all watched sadly as it disappeared into the night. The day after, they all each to complete their goals on finding more Pokemon all across the planet, giving their words that they would do their best to find out more about their world. With that, they each bid themselves farwell as Kidan, Cealy and Sora continued their journey towards Vermillion City.
That being said, Kidan and the others, after hours of walking, have finally reached the entrance of Vermillion City, where they can finally meet and face the Vermillion Gym Leader, Lt. Surge, for their third badge.
"We've finally made it," Kidan stared at the entrance in awe with his eyes becoming watery.
"It's so beautiful," Cealy responded with the same expression.
"It took us three days, but we've finally it..." Sora finished who couldn't stop staring at the sight.
"Vermillion City! Hurray!" They all cheered in happiness and relief.
After three days of trecking up the road towards Vermillion City, Kidan and the others finally made it to their destination. It took a little while, but it was worth it in the end. Sadly though, they were all covered in dirt and stains, even their own clothes. Even their Pokemon, Slice and Spree, were covered with smuges of their own due to the constant walking and exhaustion.
"I can't wait to take a bubble bath finally," Cealy sighed in happiness, thinking about the relaxation and cleaness she will recieve.
"I can finally use the laundry mat," Sora replied sighing in relief.
"I can use a bite to eat. Those sandwiches didn't last us too long," Kidan said thinking about some delicious food he could eat.
'Food sounds good to me,' Slice responded with the same thoughts as Kidan.
'Me too,' Spree replied to him, feeling her stomach gurgling.
"Let's head on over to the Pokemon Center first," Kidan first suggested, "our Pokemon could definitely use some relaxing and healing at the moment."
Cealy and Sora both nodded in agreement as they headed for the Pokemon Center to heal their injured Pokemon first before doing anything else. The last thing they needed was their Pokemon being weak before a gym battle, especially in their conditions they were in.
When they reached the Pokemon Center, they realized that the building was a bit different than the other centers they've been to so far. The building was rather rounded than all the other Pokemon Centers, and much larger. What kept it the same was the red roof and white painting job on the walls, which looked identical to all the other centers.
Entering the building, they each headed for the counter as they waited for Nurse Joy to appear. Luckily, they didn't have to wait too long as they saw Chansey walking out towards the counter with Nurse Joy following closely behind.
"Hello there, and welcome to the Pokemon Center," Nurse Joy greeted them happily," how can I help you?"
"We've been on the road for some time now, and our Pokemon could use some healing at the moment," Kidan explained as he and the others handed her their Pokeballs in the trays.
"Don't worry," Nurse Joy assured them all as she took them one by one, "we'll heal your Pokemon in no time. Speaking of which, you three could use some relaxing yourselves. You all seem exhausted."
"We definitely are," Cealy replied with a tired sighed. "We've been travelling for three days straight without a decent place to stay over night nor any good food to eat."
"That's a shame," Nurse Joy frowned sadly. "Well, Vermillion City has all you need for your travels. So why don't you three head out and get yourselves cleaned up for the time being. We'll get your Pokemon healed and have your rooms ready to go."
"Thank you Nurse Joy, that would be great," Kidan thanked her with a smile. "we could definitely use a-"
"Hurry!" a young kid's voice called out from behind. They all looked behidn him towards the center's main doors as they see another Chansey running into the building psuhing a wheeled crutcher. Laying on the crutcher fainted, was the purple-rat Pokemon, Ratatta, all beaten up and charred. Its trainer, a young boy who had to be at least ten, was running beside it as they made their way to the emergency room.
"It'll be okay Ratatta! You'll be just fine buddy! Please, hurry!" The young trainer exclaimed as they made their way inside the emergency room.
"That Ratatta is in rough shape," Sora pointed out, "wonder what happened?"
"That's the fifteenth one brought in this month," Nurse Joy huffed placing her hands on her hips.
"Say what?" Kidan looked at her in disbelief. "What do you mean 'fifteenth one'?"
"Come with me and I'll show you all," Nurse Joy replied escorting them to the back of the Pokemon Center room.
As they reached the room, they found dozens of Pokemon and trainers all in beds as their trainers were sitting in chairs beside their Pokemon, waiting for them to get better again. The sight was really sad to say.
"They all lost to the Pokemon gym Leader, Lt. Surge, leader of the Vermillion Gym," Nurse Joy said to them sadly.
"Woah," Kidan looked at them all in awe, "he must be a powerful trainer."
"This gonna be tough, that's for sure," Cealy pointed out gazing around all the other trainers and Pokemon.
"From the looks of things here, we'll have to be extremely tough to beat this Lt. Surge," Sora replied.
"I wonder what kind of Pokemon he's gonna use?" Kidan wondered as he tried to examien the conditions of the other trainer's Pokemon. The conditions on the Pokemon were kinda hard to make an hypothosis on.
"Well, whatever it is, we can do it. We've gotten this far anyways, right?" Cealy said to him with determination.
"Yeah, your right Ceal," Kidan replied with a determined look but with a confident smile. "No matter what happens, we'll have each others backs!"
"You know," Nurse Joy said to them both, "they say that when two people really know each other, they attend to like each other."
That comment made both Kidan and Cealy blush crimson red at her. The thought alone was so extremely embarrassing to the both of them, they had a hard time to reply.
"M-me...wi-with her/him?" They both heavy blushed simultaniously as they looked at each other. Instantly, they both turned away from each other and looked to the opposite directions in embarrassment, causing to Sora his forehead and sigh in annoyance.
Nurse Joy, however, just giggled between the two of them. That little reply just made it more noticable than before, and she hit it right on the spot. But before she could say anything else, she heard a ding sound coming from up front of the center. "That signal means that your Pokemon are all healed and healthy now."
At the same time, back up front of the counter, Slice, Char, Spree and Eevee were all just finishing eating some berries that they were given by one of the two Chansey in the Pokemon Center. The healing, cleaning, relaxing and eating really helped them out perfectly. All of the smuges they all had, even the others who went back inside their pokeballs, were completely gone. They all looked like their old but newer selves!
'Ah! Good stuff!' Char exclaimed as he patted his belly. Even though he had evolved into a Charmeleon a few days ago and had become even more stronger, he still held onto his old personality and spirit he had when he was a small Charmander the day he travelled with Kidan.
'I'm feeling alot better now!' Spree replied as she closed her eyes in satisfaction, taking in the sweetness and juicy flavor of the berries she ate.
'The food really helped out alot,' Slice said just finishing his last berry he was eating. 'Its been a while since we had something decent. Not I am offending Sora or whatever, just nice to have some real food once in a while.'
'I'm sure he feels the same way, Slice,' Eevee assured him happily, feeling more energized and satisfied than before. Her brown fur seemed to be shinier than it ever was before, indicating that she was very healthy.
"Slice, Char!" Kidan's voice called out to them both, who was jogging up to them both with Cealy and Sora following closely behind. As they both saw their trainer, they both cried out happily and jumped on top of him with excitement, causing him to chuckle underneath. "Haha! I guess I can definitely say that you guys are doing better, huh?"
All four of them cried out and nodded happily at their respectful trainers, showing that they were better than they were before. All of the treatments they all recieved really helped them out alot, it seems.
"I'm glad you gusy are doing better," Kidan chuckled softly at them all as he stood back up, "cause all of us have a gym battle to win today. But truthfully, it'll be a tough one, for sure. You think you guys are up to the challenge?"
Before any of them could respond to them, they heard another trainer's voice exclaimed with much concern as one of the other Chansey was pushing his beatened and fainted Pidgey on the wheeled stretcher, taking it straight to the emergency room.
"I guess they must have came from Surge's gym too, huh?" Cealy wondered curiously, watching them both disappear into the back of the center.
"If this is how powerful that Surge guy is, then this will be a big doozy," Sora pointed out, feeling a bit of pressure.
For the four Pokemon, however, they only seemed just a bit intimidated. Slice and Char saw this as a real opponent to face, even though the last two gym leaders were pretty hard to beat. It actually showed that this next gym battle is gonna have to take everything they have to win, which was a good thing that they were alot better than they were before. But, as for Spree and Eevee, they both seemed a bit scared after watching that Pidgey being sent to the emergency room. Whoever this Surge guy was, seemed to be quite powerful, maybe alot more stronger than the last two gym leaders if he could do that much damage to another Pokemon. All they could really do was just wait and see what would happen when they enter the Vermillion gym and face this guy.
About a good hour later, after getting themselves cleaned up and grabbing some lunch, Kidan, Cealy and Sora, along with Slice, Spree and Eevee, have all left the Pokemon Center and made their way towards the gym. When they arrived, they notice something strange about it. The building was perhaps three stories tall and wide, colored in a greenish-blue. In the front of a blue sliding doors was a painted lightning bolt, as well as two other lightning bolts standing on each side of the building. On the rooftop, there were even more lightning bolt structures sticking out of the building. They all seemed to get the idea that the gym leader must have Electric-type Pokemon in Surge's arsenal, possibly indicating the major beatings the Pokemon back at the center had.
The whole thing was a bit intimidating to them, to say at the least. But not enough to send them away.
"So this is the Vermillion City Gym," Kidan said as he stared at the entire building with a bit of awe and nervousness.
"Whoever designed the place sure loves lightning bolts," Cealy examined the entire building, seeing tons of bolts everywhere all around.
"Well, we ain't gonna be able to get our badge if we just stay out here, that's for sure," Sora said as they both agreed with him walking up to the gym.
As they entered the gym, the entire place seemed gloomy and somewhat frightening. The walls were all colored in dark blue and the lights were pretty dim, giving off a miserable feeling. In front of them, they were met with two older teenagers who were just staring at them all. The one was a young man with very short black hair, wearing a type of biker's black jacket, pants and boots. The other was a young woman with red-brown hair wearing a white headband on her forehead, along with a crimson red tanktop and black pants and boots.
"H-hello," Kidan hesitated a bit as he greeted them both, "we've come to challenge the Vermillion Gym Leader to earn the Thunder Badge."
"Hey boss," the young man said turning his head backwards to a shadow figure behind them both, "a couple more victims to be sent to the emergency room."
"Which one?" The man's voice asked as the figure walked up to Kidan and the others.
The look on their faces were in shock as he approached them. As he got closer and closer, he seemed to get bigger and bigger each step, doubling their normal height. He stops right in front of them all with a devious smirk on his face. He had yellow spiked hair sticking out like electricity with black eyes. He wore a camoflauge green sweater that was unbuttoned, showing off his muscular stomach and chest. He also whore a dogtag necklace around his neck with camoflauge pants and black leather heavy boots. Lastly, he had black fingerless gloves with spike wristbands around his wrists. That man was none other than Lt. Surge, the Vermillion Gym Leader. Just the sight of him was very intimidating to them all.
"Woah," Sora exclaimed in shock, "he's huge!"
"Is he the gym leader we have to beat?" Cealy asked nervously staring at the large man in front of them.
"Welcome," Surge said nromally before showing them an energetic smile," to the Vermillion Gym!" Just he said that, he gives Cealy a massive hug, causing all three to sweatdrop a bit.
"Oh, my next gym battle is a cut one," Surge said to her, which made Kidan a bit jealous from that comment. Glady, no one didn't see him glaring at the gym leader liek daggers. "Don't think I'll go easy on ya'."
"U-um, excuse me," Cealy replied to him nervously, "but I'm not the only one who's facing you."
"Really? Who else?" Surge asked curiously.
"We are, thats who!" Kidan exclaimed narrowing his eyes at him. The sight of him looking at her was driving him crazy, even though Surge was way older than all of them.
"Oh, you two as well, huh?" Surge said to him as he stood up in his normal height and patted Kidan on the head. "Okay babies."
"Now wait a minute!" Kidan said shaking his head out of Surge's hand. "I am not a baby! My name is Kidan Hikura from Pallet Town!"
"Oh don't worry about it," Surge replied to him, "I call every loser here a baby." As he was about to continue, he catched the sight of Sora's Eevee, hiding behind his leg scared. "Huh? A Eevee? Hey, look at this! Baby brought a baby Pokemon with him!"
Sora's tempter then kicked in as Surge and the other two laughed at his Eevee. They ahd no right to treat his Pokemon as such. "Quit it! Why are you making fun of my Eevee?"
"Eev, eevee eev!" Eevee shouted back to Surge, backing Sora up.
"I'll show you why," Surge replied to Sora grinning as he pulled out hsi Pokeball. "Go Pokeball!"
Teh Pokeball opens up as a orange Mouse-like Pokemon emerges from inside. It was larger than Eevee, but a bit smaller than Slice. It had a round white stomach with orange fur all around, as well as a long tail with a thunderbolt shaped end, as well as its ears. Its feet and tall legs were colored black and its cheeks were yellow. That Pokemon was known as Raichu.
"So thats a Raichu," Kidan said as he pulled out his PokeDex for more information. "So Raichu is the Mouse-like Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pikachu. It can loose 100,000-volt bursts of electricity, instantly downing foes several times its size. Also, when its electricity builds, its muscles are stimulated, and it becomes more agressive than normal," he read from his PokeDex.
The sight of Raichu and its intimidating look scared Eevee even more, much so than Surge had before. It never faced an opponent so much bigger than her, and witht he intimidating look on its face didn't help at all at the least. Sora, however, was glaring both Surge and Raichu down liek daggers. He wasn't gonna let Surge nor his Pokemon get away with picking on his Eevee.
"Okay babies," Surge started to say with Raichu copying Surge's movements and words, "if you wanna quit, nows your chance."
"There's no way any of us are quitting now," Kidan said with determination and fire in his eyes.
"Heh, whats good of a baby like that do?" Surge laughed momentarily as he kneeled behind his Raichu. "To become a Pokemon champion, you should make your Pokemon evolve as soon as you catch it."
"There's more to raising a Pokemon than forcing it to evolve," Sora replied kneeling behind Eevee, "and my Eevee likes it just the way it is. Am I right?"
Slice cried out in agreement, as Eevee hesitantly cried out too, though went back to being scared as she saw Raichu's expression again.
All of them, except Surge just laughed at Sora's reasoning. "You're wrong, baby. Electric Pokemon are only useful once they learned all the electrical attacks. Your puny little Eevee like that is no more than a little pest."
As Sora growled, that little comment changed Eevee's expression at last. What fear she had moments ago had now disappeared and became a determined and firing passion. Eevee was now staring down the both of them with whatever intimidation she carried.
"Can Eevee really beat a Raichu, even if she isn't a Jolteon?" Cealy asked Kidan.
"I highly doubt that," Kidan replied to her, "especially when Raichu knows all the electric attacks. Since Eevee is a Normal-type Pokemon, Eevee is able to take alot of damage from Raichu's attacks, such as Thunderbolt."
"Okay baby," Surge picked on Sora and Eevee, "did you just in here to show your little pet?"
"No, we came here to earn the Thunder Badge," Sora said in determination. But when he heard Eevee started to exclaimed with narrowed eyes, he was suddenly confused to her quick expression change. "Eevee?"
"Eevee is definitely ready to battle Raichu," Kidan pointed out as he and Cealy looked between Eevee and Raichu. "Earlier, Eevee was terrified of Surge and Raichu. But now, after that small talk, she's really determined to take it on."
"I'm not suprised," Cealy nodded at him, "for what he said about her, she deserves some payback."
"Eevee, I'm...counting on you, girl" Sora stammered a bit, looking between Eevee and Surge's Raichu. Eevee nodded in determination as she continued to glare down Raichu.
"Oh well," Surge shrugged, "I guess you really want to mess with the big boys and get a shocking experience, huh? Fine by us."
Inside the arena, both Sora and Eevee had taken their places, along with Kidan and Cealy standing behind him since there weren't any bleachers around. On the other side of the field, Surge and Raichu were ready to battle. Kidan and Cealy could tell that this would be a tough match, especially since Sora was using Eevee against a strong Pokemon like Raichu.
"This will be an official Pokemon gym battle," the young man announced to them all through the microphone. "Each side may use only one Pokemon. The gym leader, Lt. Surge, has chosen Raichu. The challenger, Sora Eclipse has chosen Eevee. No time limit in the match, so let the battle begin!"
"Go, Raichu!" Surge ordered as Raichu charged into the field.
"Go Eevee, use Quick Attack!" Sora called out to her. Eevee complied as she started to move fast from left to right as she approached Raichu closely. However, as she hit him, Raichu seemed to be unharmed or hurt. The Quick Attack didn't do anything. "What?!"
"Raichu, lets givbe them a taste of electricity! Use Thundershock!" Surge commanded.
Instantly, Raichu began building up electricity and then jumps into the air, sending out a wave of electricity towards Sora's Eevee, who was unable to dodge the incoming attack.
"Eevee!" Sora cried out in concern, making Kidan and Cealy concerned as well.
Eevee hit the ground hard, causing more pain to it as she skitted across the dirt, feeling the aftershocks from the Thundershock attack.
"Now, give it a Mega Punch attack!" Surge called out.
Swiftly, Raichu lunges towards Eevee, who was trying to get back on her feet, delivering a powerful punch in the side, causing Eevee to cry out more in pain.
"Now a Mega Kick!"
Like it did with Mega Punch, it used its leg to deliver another blow to the same side and spot, causing even more pain to Eevee.
"Sora! Call back Eevee now!" Kidan exclaimed in concern.
"But-"
"Raichu is too powerful for Eevee! If this keeps up, she'll be extremely hurt!" Kidan explained to him. "Call off Eevee and forfeit the match!"
Feeling entirely useless and relunctant, Kidan was right. If he allowed this match to continue, Eevee would be seriously hurt from Surge's Raichu, and that was the last thing he wanted for his Pokemon.
"Eevee, return!" Sora called out to her. But as he did, Eevee shook her head 'no' and dashed right at Raichu with all her strength. "Eevee, don't do it!"
"Play time is over, baby. Raichu, hit it with a Thunderbolt!" Surge called out.
With one last attack, Raichu delivered a massive ammout of electricity at Eevee, sending it flying backwards, which caused her to black out. The alst thing she heard was her trainer's concerned voice.
"EEVEE!"
Back at the Pokemon Center, inside the patience room, Kidan, Cealy and Sora were all beside Eevee, who was laying in bed still unconscious. Kidan and Cealy were standing as Sora was sitting down, all of them showing the same concerned look at Sora's Eevee. Both Slice and Venemoth were very worried about her, waiting for their little friend to wake up.
As if their wishes came true, Eevee's ears began to move slowly, as she slowly opened her eyes up. She saw that she was inside the Pokemon Center, laying on a soft bed. looking beside her, she saw Kidan, Cealy, Slice and Venemoth looking at her with relief and smiles. Sora, was happier than all of them, knowing that his Pokemon was okay.
"Eevee, your alright!" Sora replied smiling. "I'm glad your okay."
But as he said that, she turned her head away from them all and glared at the green wall of the room. That caused Sora to be confused.
"Eevee, what's wrong?" Sora asked her. Though, she didn't respond to him.
"Well, she was beaten up pretty badly," Kidan said to his friend.
"I can that. I'm not blind, you know," Sora deadpanned.
"No, I mean, in spirit," Kidan explained. "Remember, Eevee was totally overpowered by Raichu, who was stronger than she was. Even though they're different from each, she feels that she failed."
"Then we'll just get better! By then, we'll definitely be ready for Surge!" Sora exclaimed with determination.
"I think Eevee was doing her very best, Sora," Cealy replied to him. "The only difference was, like Kidan said, was their power. She used all her power she had to hit Raichu, but wasn't able to do it."
"So now what?" Sora asked sadly. "How can we beat him?"
"There's one way you can," a woman voice said to them. Turning their heads, they see Nurse Joy standing beside the opened door holding a clipboard. "I'm sorry, I've overheard your conversation, so I thought I could be of some help to you."
"Do you know how we can win, Joy?" Sora asked her hopefully.
"A while ago, I just happened to come across this," Joy said to them as she revealed a small brown chest. Opening it up, inside the chest revealed a greenish-blue stone with a marking of a thunderbolt inside. It wa snone other than a Thunderstone.
"Wow, a Thunderstone!" Sora replied in awe as he stared at the evolution stone. He rarely ever saw those kind of stones in his life, let alone seen one up close.
"That's a Thunderstone?" Kidan asked curiously.
"Yeah. Remember, some Pokemon can evolve into their next evolution stage with certain stones," Sora started to explain. "Like Eevee, she can evolve into three; Flareon with a Fire Stone, Vaporeon with a Water Stone, and lastly, Jolteon with a Thunderstone. Like this one."
"But what your saying is I can use your stone to evolve Eevee?" Sora asked her, even though he had a big hunch about her answer already.
"Yes, but you gotta think hard before using that Thunderstone," Joy told him with caution.
"That's right! If a Pokemon uses an evolution stone, there's no going back," Cealy replied remembering what that could mean when used on Pokemon.
"Then Eevee will never be the same," Kidan agreed with her. "You'll have a Jolteon rather than your Eevee."
"But," Sora hesitated a bit, "if Eevee becomes a Jolteon, then she might be able to get us that badge. But on the other hand, to make it evolve just to fight...I'll be just like Lt. Surge."
Evolving Eevee was rough for him. He could use the Thunderstone to evolve Eevee into Jolteon, but with a catch. Once used, she would never be able to go back to her original state of being a normal Eevee. But before he could really decide, he needed Eevee's opinion.
"Eevee, what do you want to do?" Sora asked her who was just staring at him with big eyes. She had been listening to their conversation for a bit now, and when they mentioned the Thunderstone and evolving her, that really got her full attention.
"I really want to beat that Surge guy, but I don't want to force you to evolve if you would be happier on being what you are now," Sora sadly told her. Eevee could sense that Sora was entirely confused on what to do.
She even thought that evolving would make her more stronger and powerful, meaning that they could win the badge without any difficulty. But if she did that, she wouldn't be her old self anymore. Looking over to her two friends, she looked at them for help. However, Slice and Spree just gave her the 'it's-your-choice' expression, clearly showing that it was her own decision. No one else was able to decide for her.
After a few minutes of silence and much pondering, Eevee slowly stands on her four legs, feeling the aching pain underneath her bandages. She tries to look more closely at the stone as she starts to ponder even more so than before.
"Eevee!" Sora replied in concern watching her stand.
"You need to save your strength," Cealy told her.
Then, after a few moments of more silence, she narrows her eyes and whacks the stone out of Sora's hand, sending it flying across the room and into the wall.
"Eevee?" Sora looked at her confused, wondering why she did that.
"Eev, eevee ev, eevee eve weev eevee! Eevee ev weev weev, eve eevee weev!" Eevee exclaimed at her trainer, telling him her opinion. The way she was speaking, she sounded very serious.
"What's she saying?" Nurse Joy asked curiously staring at both Eevee and Sora.
"Eevee saying that she doesn't want to change," Kidan explaiend to them. "If she wants to beat Lt. Surge's Raichu, then it's gonna do it by being herself and beating him with her own strength, not by evolution."
Sora felt touched by Eevee's words. Here we was, about evolve his own Pokemon just to beat Lt. Surge, where Eevee didn't think that wasn't even necessary. He now knew that with just more training and bonding, they would be able to defeat him.
Sora placed his hand on top of Eevee's head saying, "Eevee, together, you and I will beat Lt. Surge and his Raichu." As he finished, Eevee shook her head in agreement, believing in her trainer and friend's words.
"We believe in you two," Cealy supported them both.
"It may be tough, but it ain't impossible," Kidan replied to them. "I'm sure that you two will be able to beat Surge and his Raichu, no matter what. Right guys?"
'Yep! You can definitely do it Eevee!' Spree cheered for her friend backing her up.
'You're way stronger than that Raichu! With more training, you'll be unstoppable!' Slice said to her with confidence.
"Thanks you guys," Sora replied to them all gratefully. "Me and Eevee will somehow find a way to win, for sure!"
'I'll prove to you guys that we'll win!' Eevee exclaimed in determination. 'No matter what, I'm gonna defend Sora's and my honor!'
"So are you ready to take on Surge again, Eevee?" Sora asked already fired up now.
Eevee cried out in agreement but then fell down on the bed in exhaustion, still a little weak from the earlier battle against Raichu.
"She hasn't full recovered her stamina just yet," Nurse Joy explained to them. "You should probably let her rest just a little while longer."
Sora looked at his tired Pokemon partner, still feeling a bit of concern for her. Nurse Joy was right. All Eevee needed was a bit more time to rest to regain her stamina. "Yeah..."
Outside the room, Kidan and Cealy were both standing beside Eevee's room as Sora was sitting on a bench.
"There's got to be a way to defeat Surge's Raichu," Sora thought out loud, "but how?"
"We know that Raichu can use all the electric attacks, as well as Mega Punch and Mega Kick," Cealy pointed out as he took a drink of her water, thinking the same thing. "But from those attacks, there really wasn't any sign of weakness from them. Like Brock and Misty's Pokemon from before, they all had a weakness to them. But Surge must have made sure not to leave out anything."
"Hmm..." Kidan pondered hard, thinking of a solution. That's when he had a very curious question, one that might help in their game plans. "Hey guys, didn't Lt. Surge say that he evolved his Raichu when he first caught it as a Pikachu?"
"Yeah?" They both replied to him in confusion.
"If that's the case," Kidan said as he started to grin, "then I think I know how to beat him in his own game."
That comment made them even more confused. They wondered what he had in mind before he told them both the full details.
The next day, after Eevee was entirely healed and now knowing the plan to defeat Surge and his Raichu, they all headed back to the Vermillion Gym to earn themselves their thrid badge, the Thunder Badge.
Entering the gym, they were once again greeted by Surge and his Raichu, both with the same attitude and expression from before. Not backing down, Sora and Eevee were definitely ready to take him on one more time. With a cocky grin, Surge agreed and led them inside the arena once again.
"Hey baby, you reayd to take another beaten?" Surge asked them with a grin. "You didn't even make your Eevee evolve. You haven't learned anything yet."
"Don't be so sure, Surge!" Sora replied back at him not letting his guard down.
"Okay, well lets see about that," Surge replied still grinning.
"The challenger, Sora Eclipse, will be using his Eevee," the announcer spoke to them all. "The gym leader, Lt. Surge, will be using a Raichu. The Pokemon will battle one on one with no time limit like before. Let the battle begin!"
"Alright Eevee, lets use the strategy just like we planned!" Sora shouted to Eevee, who was more confident than before.
"A strategy, eh? So they've been planning a way to not lose finally. Go, Raichu!" Surge called to Raichu, leaping into the battlefield.
As they both got into the battlefield, the first one to attack was Raichu who used his tail to hit Eevee in the face hard, sending her back across and skitting through the dirt field, right back to Sora and the others. Before she could even stand back up, Raichu got right next her and started slamming and pounding her with its tail continuously.
"Eevee!" Sora cried out in concern.
"Hang in there Eevee!" Cealy called out to her with her own concern.
"You can do it Eevee! We're cheering for ya'!" Kidan exclaimed to her as Slice and Venomoth cheered in support for their friend.
"It's time to take it to the next level Raichu! Give it the Body Slam attack!" Surge commanded his Pokemon.
Rising to full height, Raichu purposely slams right on top of Eevee hard, causing her to cry out in pain.
"Eevee!" Sora and the others shouted now more concern.
"Finish it off, Raichu! Another Body Slam!" Surge commanded once last time.
As Raichu was about to slam into Eevee one last time, Sora closed his eyes tightly and called out to Eevee. "Eevee!"
Hearing her trainer's voice, she opens her eyes and uses her Quick Attack to dodge Raichu's incoming attack, just barely dodging his attack as it slammed into the bare dirt ground hard.
"Alright Eevee!" Sora cheered with a smirk. "Use Quick Attack with Tackle, lets go!"
With fire in her eyes, Eevee uses her Quick Attack, dashing right at Raichu as she charges at it with an incoming full out Tackle attack.
"Raichu, use your Body Slam!" Surge ordered his Pokemon with a bit of concern.
Raichu complies and tries to land another Body Slam on Eevee, who simply dodged its attack once again. Over and over again, Raichu's Body Slam attacks were all missing her as she kepet using her Quick Attack to make her almost impossible to be touched. At this point, thsi simple strategy was making Raichu very angry and fustrated, not to mention, tired.
"Uh, Raichu?" Surge asked in confusion as he watch Raichu kept missing his attacks one by one.
"It's working, just like Kidan said!" Cealy exclaimed in excitement.
"Right. Raichu evolved too fast and it never learned the speed attacks it only learned from its Pikachu stage," Kidan explained to them, "and since Eevee had the better speed attacks, she's more faster and smaller than Raichu, making it like an almost impossible Pokemon!"
"Okay, Eevee!" Sora called out to her, "use all the Quick Attack you got!"
With that, Eevee continued her never ending Quick Attack and started to run around in a circle around Raichu, who watched Eevee in awe and in a frozen state. Just by watching her go around it faster and faster was making it was maing it very confuse.
"Ha! Your Raichu is too slow for my Eevee, Lt. Surge!" Sora exclaimed to him in confidence. "That's your Raichu's weakness!"
"Okay Raichu," Surge said ot his Pokemon with his fist clutched tightly, "give it a Thunderbolt. Shut it down once and for all!"
With one massive and humongous blast, Raichu released an incredible blast full of electricity all around the battlefiled, causing cracks all across the ground. As everyone covered their eyes form the blinding sight, the entire field was quickly covered in dust, in which, was hard to see through.
As it started to fade away, Surge looked towards the field with a confident grin. "And that is the end of the match." But as it started to fade away completely, he saw something that made him entirely confused. "Huh? Wha-?"
Standing on the field still, on both of its legs, was Eevee herself, staring down Raichu, without a single scratch or char mark on her body.
"Alright Eevee!" Sora exclaimed.
"It work!" Kidan happily replied. "Before the Thunderbolt attack was able to hit Eevee directly, she used her Swift attack as a decoy to attract the electrciity into it, protectign herself from receiving any more damage."
Eevee takes her offence stance as Raichu stared her down, panting in exhaustion.
"Raichu, give it another Thunderbolt!" Surge ordered quickly. But when Raichu tried to use another electric attack, it just did a tiny spark on its cheeks, doing absolutely nothing. Confusing them both, Raichu tired again, but with the same exact results. "Do something Raichu!"
"This match is over," Kidan simply stated as a matter of speaking. "Raichu ran out of electricity that it had stored."
"Alright!" Sora replied, giving his Pokemon one last command. "Eevee, end this with a Swift Quick Attack, just like we planned!"
Eevee, who still have enough energy to keep battling, qucikly dashes towards Raichu with all her might.
"Raichu, Take Down now!" Surge quickly commanded his Pokemon.
Trying as hard as it could, Raichu was about to tackle into Eevee on impact, but was quickly hit in the stomach, causing pain to the bigger Pokemon. TO finish it off, Eevee jumped into the air and send a wave of stars towards Raichu, slamming with eahc and every single star energy at it. Stumbling and becoming even more weakened, it didn't take long until Raichu fell backwards to the ground, with its eyes swirling, indicating that it had finally fainted.
"Unbelievable!" Surge exclaimed in complete disbelief.
"We did it Eevee!" Sora cheered his Pokemon partner.
"Way to go Sora!" Kidna complimented on him and Eevee.
"Fantastic, you guys!" Cealy cheerfully replied to them.
Eevee, who seemed proud of her first gym victory, cried out happily in her langauge.
"Congratulations, and very good job, Sora," Surge complimented on Sora and his Eevee. "As proof of your victory, I give you your honorary Thunder Badge." He pulls out the badge that looked like a sunflower shaped badge, with a small resemblence of electricity on the sides.
"Thank you very much, Surge," Sora said gratefully as he takes the badge from him and studies it for a moment before placing it inside his own Badge case.
"You should be proud," Surge said to him sincerely, "You and your Eevee did really good with each other. Your the first person in a long time to beat us with a Pokemon like that. You've earned that badge for sure."
"Thank you so much!" Sora happily replied. Not able to hold it in, he cries out, "I finally got the Thunder Badge!"
Eevee, who also wasn't able to contain her own excitement, exclaimed along with him as well, earning a few chuckles from the others.
"Now that thats settle," Surge said to them, "who will challenge me tomorrow?"
"Cealy, I think this time you go," Kidan offered to her. "I could use a tad bit more training anyhow."
"Thanks Kidan" Cealy said to him gratefully. "You better not go easy on me, Surge!"
"Haha, I wouldn't dream of it!" Surge replied to her with a heart warming laugh. "Tomorrow, Raichu and I will definitely win the match for sure!"
"Dream on!" Cealy retored back with determination and a big grin.
As Sora finally wins his thrid badge before the others, Kidan and Cealy are left to face Lt. Surge and his powerhouse Raichu a sthey try to earn their thrid badge before hitting the road. But even though they'll earn next badge, many challenges and foes are still out there to face and defeat.
That being said, their next foes to face could be their most challenging once yet. Perhaps one that takes place in the harbor of Vermillion itself? Who knows!
