Chapter 17: The Mystery of Pokemon Tower

?: Where the heck are those three?

?: Maybe they went on vacation?

?: If they did that, they I'm gonna kill those three for doing so!

?: Boys, just take it easy. I'm sure they'll-

Before Cealy could finish her sentence, a sound of a ringing from the computer is heard. Kidan and Sora, who were pretty curious at this point, watcha s Dark clicks the "accept" button as a picture pops up in front of them all. Looking at them all was KW himself, along with Jet and Luke, looking at them with frantic and panicking expressions.

Dark: KW? What the heck is going on? Where are you guys?

KW: Can't talk! Running for dear life! Continue without us! Gotta hang up now! See you guys later today! Maybe!

Before anyone could even take a second to ask him a single question, KW hangs the phone up on them as they stared at the blue screen with confused expressions. The way he was talking, KW and his cousins must have done something extremely horrible. Dark just thought it was the same normal activity they all got themselves into again.

Kidan: Well...

Sora: That was...

Cealy: Weird?

Dark: ...At this point, I ain't gonna ask and let him and the other two deal with it on their own. *Clears throat* I hope you all enjoy the next chapter that the director and writers have provided for you today. We have all really appreciated the reviews, faves and follows we've been getting as of late. I greatly hope you all get a kick out of this one and hopefully you all have a wonderful day/night. Disclaimer, start this would ya'?

Disclaimer: KW does not own Pokemon, but if he did, he would perhaps change a majority of the recent seasons so far. However, he does own his OC characters. Also, this chapter was inspired by the anime, "Pokemon Origins Part 2."

Previously on Pokemon Adventures: Our heroes, Kidan, Cealy and Sora, had finally reached the main lands once again. After resting in the Pokemon Center of Vermillion, and after Cealy sent her cousin, Misty Waterflower, her new Pokemon, Horsea, for some needed training and care, they set off once again for their next destination; Saffron City.

On the way, they met an older man by the name of Mr. Fugi, who was playing a wonderful melody from what he called a Poke' Flute. When they all were discussing about themselves, Mr. Fugi led them to a village that bordered between Vermillion City and his hometown, Lavender Town. After finding out that the river hasn't flowed for nearly a month, Kidan and the gang volunteered to find the source the problem. When they did, they encountered a large sleeping Pokemon called Snorlax, who was blocking the river from flowing throught the village. After trying everything they could think of bywaking it up, they encountered Team Rocket Agents, Darek and Chelse, once again and teamed up with them. Though, effortlessly failing, they foudn out that in order to wake Snorlax, they needed a Poke' Flute which they all remembered that Mr. Fugi owns.

When they reached him and he curiously complied to follow them, Team Rocket tried to steal his flute away in order to capture Snorlax themselves. But they, yet again, failed as Kidan, Cealy and Sora's Pokemon sent them packing without the flute, sending them flying into the sky. When Mr. Fugi foudn that it was Snorlax who had been blocking the river source, he quickly got to work playing his flute. Relieved that it worked, they foudn that the vines that were all over the forest was also blocking the main source. Feeling hopeless, they were once again relieved that Snorlax was helping them 'eat' away the problem.

With that, they were able to save the village and continue their adventure to their next destination. But as they were ready to leave, they were happily accompanied by Mr. Fugi himself as his hometown was their next destination. So with that, they all travelled to Lavender Town.

Now after a days worth of travelling through Route 10 and through a cave system, as well as listening to Mr. Fugi's wonderful music, they all finally reached their destination of Lavender Town, just reaching the entrance of the small town.

"Here we are children," Mr. Fugi said after finishing playing music from his Poke' Flute. "Welcome to Lavender Town!"

The sight wasn't the best, but it was still a neat place. The entire town from their point of view was covered in a thick fog all around the area. In the middle of the town was a large stone brick tower that was almost possibly ten stories high. The town was a bit small, but it was still larger than Kidan and Cealy's hometown of Pallet Town. To them, it almost felt like home, just without the fog and what not.

"This place looks cool," Kidan complimented after looking at the town for a few seconds.

"Much bigger than Pallet Town, that's for sure," Cealy pointed out to him.

"So this is where you live?" Sora asked curiously.

"Yep," Mr. Fugi smiled at them. "This town is where I was born from. Been living here for more than fifty five years."

"Fifty five years?" They simultaneously said in awe.

"Hehe, yes sir," Mr. Fugi chuckled at their shocked expressions. With that, he motioned them to followed him into town as they made their way down the large hill that overseen Lavender.

Once they got into town, Mr. Fugi gave them directions to where the Pokemon Center and the market was located at. AFter saying their thanks, they all split from Mr. Fugi as they made their way towards the Pokemon Center to heal their injured Pokemon. While they were inside the cave, they had encountered some wild Pokemon and some strong trainers, so their Pokemon were pretty worned out from battling so much.

As they patiently waited for Nurse Joy to complete healing their teams, and as they sat down and chatted, they overheard a couple of people talking about something.

"I've heard that a ghost has been appearing at the Pokemon Tower lately," a man said to the woman that he was talking to.

Hearing about the Pokemon Tower's name, Kidan became curious. "Pokemon Tower?"

Both Cealy and Sora just shrugged, not really knowing what that was themselves. They then stood quiet as they listened in on what the man and woman were both talking about.

"Really?" The woman asked in suprise.

"Yeah. And alot of people have been saying that they've been seeing it too."

"Excuse us?" Kidan asked them both politely as he, Cealy and Sora all approached the two people. "Is that thing you just said about the ghost really true?"

"Uh-huh," the man nodded, "I haven't seen it myself, but everyone's been talking about it ."

"Then what exactly is the Pokemon Tower?" Cealy asked curiously.

"I take it that its your kids' first time coming to town?" The man asked them.

"Yeah," Kidan confirmed with a nod.

"Have you ever heard that this town is known for the grave sight for Pokemon?" He asked them all.

Pondering for a moment, the sound of it started to sound familiar to Kidan and Cealy. "Now that you mention it...yeah, we've heard about that before."

"The Pokemon Tower is the main spot of the grave sight," the woman explained to them. "Come with me and I'll show you."

Following behind her, she shows them through the center's window as she poitned to the large tower that stood in the middle of the entire town.

"That's Pokemon Tower?" Sora asked in shock.

"Yes," the woman replied. "The tower is used for services. The memorials are held for Pokemon."

"In fact, lots of people come from great distances to pay their respects," the man said to them.

"So then the ghost you were talking about earlier is a Pokemon?" Kidan asked curiously.

"Mm-hm, seems like it. But it really is just a rumor to say," the man replied to his question.

"So do you kids actually believe in ghosts?"The woman asked the three trainers.

"Oh no. I really don't think they exist," Kidan nervously waved his hand in disagreement. "But I'm not too sure though."

"Me neither," Cealy replied in agreement with Kidan's.

"I never seen a ghost before, so I would have to say no," Sora said.

The woman then giggled. "Maybe not. I guess that my right hand that's resting on your shoulder isn't real either, huh?"

Causing them to yelp a bit, they all looked behind their shoulder to see if there really was a ghost hand on their shoulders. To their relief, there wasn't.

"Oh come on, stop kidding us like that-" Kidan started to say to the two when he then opened his eyes.

When he did, the man and woman that had been speaking with them had suddenly vanished into thin air. They were nowhere in sight. That moment caused them all to have a cold chill down their spines, not wanting to believe what they had just witnessed.

"D-did they just..." Kidan nervously asked with a hint of fear.

"Y-yeah..." Cealy replied with the same tone.

"T-there's no w-way that's..." Sora started to say, not wanting to believe it either.

"Excuse me? Kidan? Cealy? Sora?" Nurse Joy's voice called out to them from the counter.

Snapping out of their fearful trance, they looked over to Nurse Joy as they saw her with their pokeballs ready on the three trays in front of her.

"Uh, yes?" Kidan asked her trying to act regularly as they approached the counter.

"All your Pokemon are fully healed and ready to fight," Nurse Joy happily said to them all. "You'll be glad to know that they had no severe injuries from their battles."

"Thank you," they all said in unison as they each released Slice, Spree and Eevee from their respective Pokeballs. When they appeared in front of them, they were happy that their Pokemon were fully healed and not injured anymore.

"By the way," Nurse Joy asked them, "are you kids by any chance going to the Pokemon Tower soon?"

"Yeah," Kidan nodded. "Since we've came all this way here, we all thought that we should check it out."

"Then I would suggest you three should visit the Pokemon House before going to the tower," Nurse Joy suggested to them.

"The Pokemon House?" Cealy wondered out loud.

When she replied that they were better off knowing what it was at first hand, they all agreed and headed straight for wherever the Pokemon House was located.

After being given some directions to where it was, Kidan, Cealy, Sora and their Pokemon finally reached the house, which was actually normal to them, besides the extentions around it.

"So this is the Pokemon House, huh?" Kidan wondered out loud.

"I guess we can just walk in?" Cealy asked a bit confused on what they should do.

"Better than staying out here and doing nothing," Sora shrugged as he and the others walked up to the house and opened the door.

When they entered, they noticed that the house was half emtpied. From where the entrance and exit door was, there was nothing but empty space. However, on the other end of the entire room were a few tables with a bit more than a half dozen chairs all around. Beside them was a large counter with a room that apprently must have led to the back.

"Hello? Anyone here?" Kidan called throughout the entire house as they looked around to see if they could find anybody.

"Yes?" They heard a young girl's voice call out from another room. Coming out from the the other room behind the counter was a thirteen year old girl with red-orange hair tied in a ponty tail with black eyes and a blue pearl hairclip on the left of her hair. She was wearing a pink t-shirt on with a white skirt along with white shoes. "Can I help you?"

"Yes, we were told to come here first before going to the Pokemon Tower," Kidan explained to the girl. "We were never told what the Pokemon House was however."

"Oh, so no one didn't tell you?" She asked a bit suprised. "This house is for abandoned Pokemon to be taken care of."

"Abandoned Pokemon?" They all wondered curiously.

"Come with me and I'll show you what I mean," she replied to them as she motioned them to follow. Curious without a doubt, they followed her to the back of the Pokemon House, where dozens of Pokemon were being cared for by some other people.

They realized that the dozens of Pokemon were all kept in a pent-like house with a small gate and wooden wall around them. Even though it may have looked like a small Pokemon farm, the Pokemon seemed happy with their homes, especially all the attention they were getting by the other humans. A few they have noticed was Pokemon like an Oddish, Growlithe, a Vulpix and more.

Though the seen was something to smile about, they couldn't help but feel bad for them. Pokemon that were abandoned by their own trainers must be very hard, especially if your attached to each other alot.

"I never knew that there were so many abandoned Pokemon," Kidan sadly replied though tried his best to smile at the bright side of things.

"You know, you should all talk to the founder of the Pokemon House," the young girl suggested to them. "His name is Mr. Fugi."

When she said that name, they were all completely caught off guard by that.

"Wait a minute! You mean, the Mr. Fugi who plays the Poke' Flute for others?" Sora asked in shocked.

"Yes. Why, do you already know him?" She asked them curiously.

"Yeah! We were actually travelling back with him after helping a village between here and Vermillion," Kidan explained still in disbelief that Mr. Fugi owns this house.

"Oh, so you three must be the ones that brougth Mr. Fugi back home this morning," she happily said with a smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you all."

"So what made Mr. Fugi make a house for all abandoned Pokemon?" Cealy asked her curiously.

"Well, you see..." she started to say when her face fell sadly. "He saids that lots of people around the world think nothing of Pokemon except for tools or some type of accessories. Did you know that this place was actually the same house Mr. Fugi lived in years ago before expanding it? He remodelled it like this so that he could make room for these abandoned Pokemon to live in."

"Mr. Fugi does seem like a very nice man," Kidan smiled as he thought of the good Mr. Fugi did for all these abandoned Pokemon that he brought in and took care of.

"You're right, he is a nice man," she replied with her own smile. "That's the reaosn why alot of people in town started helping out Mr. Fugi as volunteers here at the house. As a matter of fact, I'm one of them."

That's when she forgot something important earlier. "That reminds me, I'm Rena."

"My name is Kidan Hikura from Pallet Town, and this is my partner, Slice," Kidan poitned to his Pokemon partner who waved at Rena happily.

"I'm Cealy Seriea, and I'm from Pallet Town as well. And this is my partner, Spree," Cealy introduced as Spree waves her wings happily as well from the top of her head.

"And I'm Sora Eclipse, and this my partner, Eevee," Sora finished as Eevee cried out from his right shoulder happily too.

"You know, all the Pokemon look very happy here, considering they were abandoned," Kidan said to her as they looked around at the dozens of different Pokemon around them. When Kidan looked over behind him, he saw a familiar Pokemon before hiding in the shadowed corner with its eyes narrowed at him and the others, looking almost afraid. The Pokemon that was staring at them was none other than a small Cubone, much smaller than the one Giselle had back at the Pokemon Tech Insitute school at Cerulean. "What's wrong with this Cubone, Rena?"

"It's a baby Cubone," Rena sadly replied to his question. "It's only friendly to Mr. Fugi. But it's very nervous around everyone else."

"Why is that?" Cealy asked her.

"Because of Team Rocket," Rena replied with almost an angered tone in her voice.

"Did you just say 'Team Rocket'?" Kidan asked her a bit suprised.

Rena nods back. "Cubone was being chased by Team Rocket as they were poaching other Pokemon..."

Telling the story, Rena explained that dozens of wild Pokemon throughout the area were being poached by Tema Rocket thugs, using nets and attacks to either weaken them or trapped them. A Sandshrew and Sandslash were beign chase by a couple of grunts as they threw a net over them.

"We got you now!" The light green haired man grinned as they accomplished catchign another batch of wild Pokemon.

"Just a little bit more," the red haired man said with a grin of his own.

"There are more that way!" The dark blue haired man shouted pointing to a certain direction. "Capture them!"

Running from the thugs was the same baby Cubone that was now living inside the Pokemon House, going as fast as it could to escape them. But with it being so small and just a baby, it had a really rough time trying to run.

"This is just a baby Cubone. But they go for a very high price," the green haired grunt said to the others as he followed the cubone to a large boulder.

The Cubone felt completely trapped against the Rocket grunts, shivering in much fright as it held the bone club in its small hands real tight against its chest. It tried to be brave against the grunts, but was having a much difficult time doing so.

"You know you can't escape from us," the red haired grunt said to the baby Cubone with a devious smirk and chuckle, "give up now and let us capture you."

But before any of them could even attempt to capture the Cubone, they were suddenly sent back sideways landing on the groudn with a loud thud.

"What was that?" The green haired grunt asked in suprise. Looking over to whatever attacked them was a larger Pokemon than Cubone. Like Cubone, it held a larger bone club along with a thicker skull on its head with a little bit longer arms and the same color. That Pokemon was known as Marowak, the evolved form of Cubone.

As the Marowak stood between the grunts and its baby, it told Cubone to run as fast as it could to escape the thugs from capturing it. Hesitant to leave, it reluctantly complies as it starts to run, leaving the Marowak and the Rocket grunts alone against each other.

"That does it," the green haired grunt said as he pulled out an extended eletric whip rod from his belt. "You dare to get in Team Rocket's way?"

Not threatened by the grunt's little threat, Marowak readied itself as it made a fighting stance with its bone club crossed in front of its chest.

"You'll pay for that!" The green haired grunt said to the Marowak as he prepared to slash the Marowak with the electric rod.

As Cubone ran as far as it could, it could suddenly hear its mother crying out in much pain, being completely beatened and hurt by the Rocket grunts. When the shouting stopped, Cubone ceased its running as it turned around and see what had happened to its mother that was protecting it.

Later on, during the evening, Rena explained that after Team Rocket had fled and took whatever Pokemon they could capture, Cubone was standing next to the same spot that it was trapped in by the grunts and where its mother was fighting them off.

"Because of Team Rocket, Cubone had lost its mother Marowak," Rena sadly said to them.

As the baby Cubone just stood there, ready to burst into uncontrollable tears, a lone figure walks up to it. Looking up to see if it was another thug trying to capture it, it was actually the complete opposite. Wearing a vanilla white buttoned and grey pants was the man who is the expert of playing the Poke' Flute, Mr. Fugi himself, who was giving the baby Cubone a comforting smile.

"Poor little thing," Mr. Fugi sadly smiled as he kneeled down next to the baby Cubone. "Here, let me take you home and clena you right up."

Slowly reachign over to pick Cubone up, Cubone clucthed its eyes tight as it prepared for whatever Mr. Fugi was going to do it. But shockingly, Mr. Fugi pet it on the shoulder and head for a few seconds before lifting it up into his arms. At that moment, the baby Cubone couldn't help but start to cry in an outburst, greiving over its dead mother who had tried to protect its life from harms way.

Once she finished the sad story, it broke all their hearts dearly, including their Pokemon. Kidan and Cealy both felt like they were gonne cry from that. They had been raised around many Pokemon back in Pallet Town and would always treat them kindly and respectively, even go as far as to take care of some of them whenever they could. The thought of someone capturing innocent Pokemon, and to the extent of killing a mother of a baby Pokemon was far enough. Kidan could feel the rage and anger boiling inside him, feeling nothing but to beat the tar out of Team Rocket for doing something so horrible to Pokemon.

"Ever since that day, Cubone hasn't opened up to anyone else, except for Mr. Fugi," Rena sadly said as they all looked at Cubone with sadden exprssions.

"I can't believe Team Rocket would go as far as to killing Cubone's mother," Cealys adly said as a tear fell down from her cheek, can't even imagine how the baby Cuboen must be feeling at this point.

Kidan's eyes then narrowed angrily. "If I ever see Team Rocket again, I'll make them pay for that. That's no way to treat any Pokemon as such, including Pokemon who are parents." The anger that kept building inside automatically made him clutch the small gate in fornt of him harder and harder, almost snapping it into pieces.

"We wanted to thank you for showing us around here," Kidan thanked Rena. "It all makes alot more sense now. I can get why Nurse Joy told us to come here first before going to the Pokemon Tower."

"Mr. Fugi isn't just kind and plays his Poke' Flute well," Rena replied to him. "He knows everything there is about Pokemon. And he teaches us all kinds of things."

"You know, we're actually working on helping complete the PokeDex for Professor Oak," Cealy replied. "We would love to get the chance to see him again if we could."

"By the way, where is Mr Fugi? He said that he was gonna head home when we got back," Sora asked her as they all looked around so they could probably see him.

"Well that's just it," Rena sadly replied.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Kidan asked her in concern.

Before he or the others could get an answer, a man with a green lime shirt and light grey pants rushes inside the house. "Everyone! I found where Mr. Fugi is!"

"Where? Where is he?" A woman with purple hair asked with much concern.

"He is at the Pokemon Tower," the man sollunly replied.

"The Pokemon Tower?!" Everyone asked out loud in shock.

"That's right. Someone in town saw Mr. Fugi go straight to the tower just after he left the house a few hours ago. Then they saw him enter the tower," the man with the green shirt explained.

"Why would he go there?" A man with a blue zip up coat asked in wonder.

"Because of Team Rocket," the purple haired woman replied. "That's the only reason. He must have gone there to convince Team Rocket to leave the Pokemon Tower. But he must have been captured."

"I'm afraid those guys won't listen to reason, nor anyone else," the man with a blue zip up coat sadly said.

"Excuse us?" Kidan asked gaining everyone's attention on him and his friends. "But the Pokemon Tower...what exactly happened there?"

"Who are you?"

"My name is Kidan Hikura, and this is Cealy Seriea and Sora Eclipse," Kidan introduced them all," we're on a journey to collect all the badges and completing the PokeDex. We know Mr. Fugi well. He was with us after we left the village that was near Vermillion City."

"Well, one day, Team Rocket showed up and made the top floor of the Pokemon Tower as their base," the man with the blue zip up coat explained to them.

"It was completely out of the blue," Rena said to them, "with no warning or anything. They showed up in some truck carrying some kind of cargo in the back making their way to the Pokemon Tower. Before we knew it, they started chasing away everyone that would or went to the Pokemon Tower. Since that day, not a single person has been abel to go inside the Pokemon Tower."

"Any idea on what they looked like?" Sora asked them curiously.

"There were five of them; three men had green hair, blue hair and red hair," Rena explained. "The other two wore different kinds of clothes but with the same symbol as the others. The last two were one more man and a woman with dark blue hair and long blonde hair who appeared just yesterday at the tower."

"Dark blue hair and long blonde hair?" Kidan and the others pondered for a moment. That's when it hit them all. "Darek and Chelse!"

"You know them?" The man in the green lime shirt asked them.

"Yeah, we've been dealing with those idiots every since I started my journey," Kidan replied to him. "They're nothing but trouble, like the rest of Team Rocket."

"That's not the only problem," a woman with a pink shirt and short blonde hair said to them, "a ghost started to appear. Believe me, it's the truth. I saw it with my own eyes!"

"I've seen it in the tower when Team Rocket wasn't looking," the woman with blonde hair said to them, "and that's when I saw a purple shadow looming ahead. The sight of it frightened me, so I ran out of the tower. It was ubelievably scary."

"I...see," Kidan nervously replied to her. He and his friends had already gone through something weird at the Pokemon Center earlier, but this one seemed to be much scarier than that.

"If people stop coming to the Pokemon Tower, Lavender Town is all but finished," the man with the lime green shirt said to them.

"Hey, lets all go together and rescue Mr. Fugi," Rena suggested with determination.

"But there's no way we can battle Team Rocket," the man with the blue zip up coat replied.

"Some people tried to challenge them to battles," the purple haired woman said to Rena, "but they're really strong for a bunch of petty thugs."

"And there's a ghost there too!" The blonde haired woman exclaimed in fear wrapping her arms around herself. "I can't go in that place again!"

"Then what are we suppose to do? Mr. Fugi went to Team Rocket's base to protect all of us!" Rena told them all. "Are yous ayign we should just abandon Mr. Fugi?"

"No, we're not abandoning him," the purple haired woman replied to her.

"I'm sure that Team Rocket will eventually leave Mr. Fugi go," the man with the lime green shirt said to her. "We just ahve to wait and see, that's all."

Rena then started to get angry at them all. "I can't believe you would all act like this!"

The room felt silent after that, everyone now feelign guilty of what they said. But they were also right. They had no way of battling against Team Rocket with no Pokemon or what not. There was nothing they could do to help free Mr. Fugi.

That's when Kidna spoke up. "We'll go and face Team Rocket."

Everyone looked at him and his friends in suprise. Everyone thought they were now being crazy. "You three? But that's impossible. You three are just children, and even the adults here didn't have the strength of defeating Team Rocket."

"That's right, it's a waste of time," the man with the blue zip up coat said to them. "Even if you go there, nothing is gonna change."

"I wouldn't count on that," Kidan smirked a little. "We've dealt with Team Rocket dozens of times already, so we're pretty confident with our skills. Besides, all of us have three badges to prove it."

Pulling out their cases, they showed everyone in the room that they all had three badges each; the Boulder Badge they earned from Brock in Pewter City, the Cascade Badge they won from Cealy's cousin, Misty, in Cerulean City and the Thunder Badge which they earned by defeating Lt. Surge in Vermillion City.

"All you kids have three badges?" The purple haired woman said in shock.

"Earned everyone one of them. Right Eevee?" Sora rpelied proudly as Eevee nodded in agreement from his shoulder.

"Now I see why you kids are so confident," the man with the lime green shirt said to them. "But are you sure that's gonna be enough to beat them?"

"It doesn't matter to us. We'll beat them, no matter what!" Cealy exclaiemd with much determination as Spree flapped her wings in agreement with her trainer.

"Besides, we aren't gonna let Team Rocket nor their agents get away with this," Kidan strongly replied to them all. "They already messed with too many Pokemon, and now that the guts to kill Cubone's mother? Now way am I letting them get away with that! We'll all succeed in this, you'll see!"

That night, after Kidan and the gang prepared themselves for the coming battle against Team Rocket, they and their Pokemon all headed straight for the Pokemon Tower as they stood in front of it with a small fog that was still roaming around it continuously. The sight of the tower in the night had actually gave them the chills down their spines. But none the less, they knew that they needed to beat Team Rocket, one way or another, or Lavender Town will be ruined by them.

"Well, I did say that we would go," Kidan said to them nervously, "but now I'm regretting my words..."

"Nothing we can do now except go inside," Cealy replied trying to give her childhood friend some comfort. "Even though...it does seem a bit creepy when you look at it."

"Then let's get going. I'm getting a strange feeling around here anyway," Sora nervously said to them as he and Eevee, who was perched on his shoulder, looked around them.

Reluctantly, they all agreed and started to walk inside the tower. When they entered, they notice lots of small crates with reception boxes on top of them all. They must have figured that the crates were filled with the Pokemon who have past away through the years and recent time. The boxes on top must be for those who lay flowers or other items inside to pay their respects. Knowing that standing around and looking upon the tombstones, or tomb crates, of Pokemon wasn't gonna do them any good right now, they started to head up the stairs towards the top floor.

Kidan lead the way as he held out his flashlight in front of him with Slice, Cealy, Spree, Sora and Eevee all beside him, cautiously watching their surroundings. Even though the crates were filled with the dead Pokemon, they couldn't help but feel a bit creeped out when they past them all.

"I've got a really bad feeling about this," Kidan said with some fear in his tone. "I can feel a chill itching at my skin."

"Me too," Cealy replied nervously as she tried to stay close to him as possible. Even Spree was feeling frightened at their surroundings, trying to hide her head in Cealy's hat covering her entire face.

"Do you think wild Pokemon live here too?" Sora asked curiously but with some nervousness in his tone. "Probably like Ghost-type Pokemon?"

"That is possible," Kidan replied as he looked around with the flashlight.

As they reached the third floor, Slice, Spree and Eevee all became very alert as they took fighting stances, with Spree and Eevee flying and hooping off their respective trainers and next to Slice.

"What it it guys?" Kidan asked them cautiously.

'Something, or someone, is coming...' Slice warned his trainer, raising his blades in a defensive pose.

"Like what?" Cealy asked their Pokemon as she and the others looked around to see if there was anyone or anything near them.

But after a few seconds, they finally got their answer as a half dozen of floating purple gas ball Pokemon. They were all shaped in a black circle and were surrounded with purple gas-like fog. They had no arms and no legs, but did have eyes and a mouth. These Pokemon were known as Ghastly.

"What the heck are these?!" Sora exclaimed in fear and shock after they had suddenly appeared in front of them all.

A bit scared himself, Kidan pulled out his PokeDex as he scanned one of the six for information. "Ghastly is the Gas Pokemon. Its body is made of gas and born from gases, anyone would faint if engulfed by its gaseous body, which contains poison. And despite lacking substance, it can envelop an opponent of any size and cause suffocation," he read from it as he then looked between the info and the Ghastly. There was something wrong with the way they looked. "Hey guys, notice anything wrong with these Ghastly?"

Figuring out what Kidan had met, they all looked carefully at the Ghastly that had surrounded them all. The PokeDex showed that Ghastly smiled like other Ghastly do. But room what they seen, these Ghastly looked very sad and somewhat frightened.

"Why are they scared?" Cealy wondered with her fear lessened.

"Because of the ghost that lives here," a woman's voice said to them, scaring them a bit from her sudden speech.

Pointing to whoever that had spoken to them was a woman with long black hair with a white shirt and blue skirt and white heels. Noticing that she was human, they all sighed in relief as they had first thought that she was a ghost or something.

"Please, don't scare us like that," Kidan sighed in relief holding his chest from pounding.

"I'm sorry. We didn't mean to scare you kids," the woman apologized to them, as well as the sadden Ghastly that were now floating next to her. "I've came here with my Ghastly to see my dear Nidoran that past away a while ago. You care about your Pokemon toom right?"

"Of course," Kidan replied quickly. "Our Pokemon is our friends and partners. We care about them in all ways."

"That's good to hear," the woman smiled softly. "Have you all came here to pay your respects too?"

"Wait a minute...aren't you afraid of this place?" Sora asked her curiously.

She giggles before she gives them a conforting smile. "Of course not. My Ghastly are here with me, so I feel very safe with them. Besides, the ghost doesn't appear down here. Only on the upper floors. It must be holding a grudge against Team Rocket."

"Y-you said it was farther up?" Kidan nervously asked, now feeling a bit afraid.

"Yes. Not sure why, but it stays close enough from where Team Rocket are stationed." She then motions one of her Ghastly to her. "My Ghastly knows the way up there. If you follow it, he'll guide you there and perhaps help you out."

"Are you sure you want to lend us one of your Ghastly to us?" Sora asked her with some guilt in his tone.

"This Ghastly was owned by one of the Rocket grunts recently," the woman explained. "Its seemed so sad, even after I came to care for it. I think its best if it went with another trainer who would take much more care of it. It would seem much happier if one of you did."

Sora hesitantly looks over to Kidan and Cealy, silently asking them if this was okay. Relieved that they nodded at him with a smile, Sora nods to the woman agreeing to care for the abandoned Ghastly she owned. Handing her Ghastly's Pokeball, Sora thanks her as she explains to them more about the tower's upper floors and Ghastly's special ability. Thanking her, they continued on to the next floors up ahead.

After passing two more floors, they finally reached the fifth floor of the Pokemon Tower with Sora's new Pokemon, Ghastly, keeping a sharp eye out for anything suspicious as they all cautiously made their way the second to last floor of the tower.

While they made their way up, on the last floor of the tower, Team Rocket agents Darek and Chelse, followed by a few other grunts they were teamed up with, all sat down and polishing their pokeballs and othe items in their possessions. But on the end of the room was Mr. Fugi, who was all tied up and sore from today's earlier events. He didn't realize that he would be captured by Team Rocket, let alone their agents that Kidan and the others defeated back at the village a couple days ago.

"You guys hear the rumors? About the ghost that roaming around Pokemon Tower?" The blue haired grunt asked them all, trying to make small talk.

"Knock it off, will ya'? I don't like that kind of story," the red haired grunt replied nervously.

"Its just Ghost-type Pokemon playing pranks, right?" The green haired grunt asked him, not really convinced about the whole 'ghost Pokemon Tower' story.

"That's the weird part," the blue haired grunt replied, "they're saying that it's actually a real life ghost.

"Seriously?" The red haired grunt asked frightened.

"We'll be just fine," Chelse stated to her team a she held out a binocular device in her hand. "Besides, we have this little baby if there is. The Silph Scope is able to identify unknown Ghost-type Pokemon. It would also mean that it should work on real ones."

Are you sure about that, ma'am?" The red haired grunt asked nervously, not really reassured about his leader's words.

"Don't be such a coward," Darek said to him sternly. "What are you, a little kid or something? Once we get enough Ghost-type Pokemon and keep this tower as our base til' this town is ruined, we'll never have to come here again."

"We must be close now," Kidan informed his companions and Pokemon, as they finally reached the sixth floor of the tower.

"I've a bad feeling right about now," Sora replied with uneasy tension.

"I agree. Something doesn't feel right," Cealy said as she carefully eyed around the sixth floor.

"I know what you guys mean," Kidan as he also looked around the room cautiously.

Slice, Spree, Eevee and Ghastly also looked around the area as well. They could sense that something was off, but weren't entirely sure as to what that was.

As they all got closer and closer to the next stairs, a purple and black, foggy mist appeared in front of the stairs and themselves. They couldn't see what it was, except that it looked really spooky. The next thing that happened caused them to jump.

"Get out! Leave this place!" A ghostly voice shouted at them as the foggy mist charged at them.

Causing them to yelp, they all ran down the stairs as they tried to escape the fog that was chasing them.

At the same time, back on the top floor, Team Rocket and the grunts had also heard their screams coming from below as they were all just messing around with their pocessions and polishing their pokeballs.

"I-its the g-ghost!" The red haired grunt said in fear.

"Somebody must have snuck in here again," Chelse sighed in annoyance. "You, go check it out and see what's wrong. Use these to give you some support."

"Yes ma'am," the green haired grunt in a salute as he was given the Silph Scope and started to head down the stairs to see what the commotion was all about.

Kidan and the others ran down the stairs as fats as they could until they couldn't see the 'ghost' that appeared in front of them all. When they believed that they lost it, they all stopped and started to gasp for air.

"T-That was terrifying!" Kidan panted with fear in his tone.

"I-I don't think I want to go back up!" Cealy replied with the same action and tone.

"Me neither!" Sora said as well.

But when they thought that were safe, the room suddenly fell into a deep fog that surrounded them all and the entire room completely. Knowing what was coming, they all heard the same voice from earlier.

"Get out! Leave this place!" The 'ghost' shouted them again as it took a position in front of the stairs.

"Crap! Not again!" Sora exclaimed in shock.

"We gotta move!" Cealy told them as she and the others were about to run. But when they did, they realized that Kidan was just standing still in front of the 'ghost'. "Kidan, what are you doing?! We have to go!"

"You guys can get out of here, but I'm staying! I'm tired of being afraid!" Kidan told them, even though his body felt terrfied. Looking over to Slice, who had the same expression as him, they both nodded as Kidan pulled out one of his pokeballs from his belt. "I ain't gonna run and let Team Rocket win!" At that, he charged straight for the 'ghost.'

"Kidan!" They shouted in concern as Kidan then threw hsi pokeball into the field.

"Let's give Slice a hand, Char!"

Emerging from the Pokeball, Char crie dout in his language as he took a fighting position with his friend Slice. They both narrowed their eyes at the 'ghost', waiting for their trainer to give them a command.

"Get out! Leave this place!"

"Cealy, Sora," Kidan whispered to them both. "I'll deal with whatever this thing is. You two get up to the top floor and deal with Team Rocket. I'll be right behind you after."

"Gotcha," Sora nodded in agreement.

"Be careful Kyie," Cealy whispered in concern.

Giving her a thumbs up and reassuring smile, he looked back at the 'ghost' as he prepared for battle. While they were about to fight, Cealy, Sora and their Pokemon quietly and sneakly passed behind them, climbing up to the next floor.

"I hope Kidan will be okay," Cealy murmured softly, not knowing what was going to happen to him and that thing he was about to face.

"I hope so too, Cealy," Sora replied with the same expression, as well as their Pokemon.

But as they reached only halfway up the stairs, a blinding light shined on them all, causing them to cover their eyes from the light.

"Hey you kids, what do you think you're doing here?" The green haired grunt asked them angrily.

"To send you guys out of here! Go get 'em Spree!" Cealy shouted out to her Pokemon.

"Eevee, Ghastly! Show him whose boss!" Sora called out to his two Pokemon as they all rushed at him.

Back at the Pokemon House, inside the room where the abandoned Pokemon were living, the baby Cubone was going mad as it kept trying to smash the gate open so it could escape.

Not knowing what was going on, Rena ran into the room and saw Cubone trying to open the gate. "Cubone, what's the matter?"

Just as she opened the gate to see what was wrong with it, Cubone charged right through the gate, heading towards the exit.

"Cubone wait! Hold on!" Rena shouted to it as she ran after Cubone. She had no idea why it was behaving like this, but she knew that it was heading straight for the Pokemon Tower where Kidan and the others told them that they would go.

"Slice, use Cut Pursuit! Char, use Metal Ember!" Kidan ordered his Pokemon partners.

Complying, Slice dashed right towards the 'ghost' with his blades at the sides, preparing to slice it dead on. Char ran forward to it as it performed its Metal Claw attack while using Ember to burn its claws, causing them to catch on fire.

But as they both made contact with it, they both realized that it only went through it, dispersing the foggy mist only. Their attacks had failed.

'What?!' Slice exclaimed in shock.

'Why aren't our attacks doing anything?!' Char exclaimed with much confusion.

After a few seconds, the foggy mist thing reappeared behind them as it glared at them both with red narrowed eyes. "Get out! Leave this place!"

"That the fifth attack in the row and not a single hit," Kidan said to himself getting more nervous and fustrated. He had no way of knowing what to do in this situation. He couldn't run away from it nor try to catch it, so he was pretty out of options. "What do I do now?"

"Kidan!" Turning to see who called hsi name, he saw Cealy and Spree on the stairs holding something in her right hand. "Use this!"

Tossing it at him, he catches the Silph Scopes and starts to examine it quickly. He ha dno idea what it was for. "What is this Ceal?"

"You'll know when you use it! It should help you against whatever that thing is!" Cealy replied.

Outside the tower, Cubone had finally made its way to the Pokemon Tower as it started to climb up the stairs and into the tower itself. Not far behind, Rena was trying to catch up to it as fast as she could go. She really had no idea why Cubone was acting this way.

"Cubone! Don't go that way!" Rena called out to it as she continued to chase after the baby Cubone.

Putting on the Silph Scope, he pushes a button on the side of it as the entire room in front of him turned into a blue light, aloowing him to see through the binoculars. When he looked over to the 'ghost', he notice that it was starting to change shape. From what it was a foggy mist, was now a shape of a Pokemon. It looked very identical to Cubone, but had a much larger bone club and skull on its head. He knew fully well who that Pokemon was.

"Marowak?" Kidan gasped a little. "Then that means...that means that Marowak is the baby Cubone's mother!"

"Get out! Leave this place! You should not get close to them!" The mother Marowak said to him.

It all made sense to him now. The 'ghost' was the dead mother of Marowak, who held the grudge of killing it some time ago. And all this time, it wasn't trying to scare people away, it was trying to warn them, making sure they wouldn't get hurt from Team Rocket.

Before he could ask the dead Marowak something, he heard a sudden cry from behind. Looking behind him, he saw the same baby Cubone rushing into the room and to its dead mother, sobbing. The Marowak mother saw her infant and waited for it to come to her, grabbing her small child in her left arm as Cubone began to sobber in both joy and sadness.

Kidan takes off the Silph Scope device from his head and puts it away as Cealy and Spree walk next to him, all of them smiling. "There's no reaosn to keep fighting anymore. Char, come on back bud." Returning his Pokemon to its pokeball, he and Cealy watched the sweet scene before them as Rena walks up to them witnessing the same thing as well.

The look on both the Marowak and her baby Cubone was very touching. It had been some time since the Marowak seen its baby infant again. She felt sadden that she left her baby alone all this time, and wish that she could do something about it. But it was far too late and she was now dead. Pulling her small child away a bit, she nodded to her Cubone as she started to float away from them all. As she started to disappear, the baby Cubone tried to reach for its mother one last time, hoping that she would stay with it longer. At last, after a few seconds, the Marowak mother disappeared, leaving only Kidan, Cealy and Rena in the room alone.

"So all this time it was just Marowak, worried about her baby," Rena quietly said.

"Poor Cubone..." Cealy whispered sadly.

As Cubone picked its small bone club back up, it cried throughout the room, calling out to its mothe rone last time before wiping its tears away from its small eyes. It may have lost its mother, but it would never forget her. Everyone, including Sora, Eevee and Ghastly who had watched the scene from the stairs, all smiled at the small Pokemon, happy that it was able to see its mother one last time.

"You okay?" The blue haired grunt asked the green haired grunt.

"And where's the Silph Scope?" Darek asked him, looking around for it.

"Uh...I'm not..." the green haired grunt studdered, not really knowing how to answer them.

"You guys mean this thing?" Someone said to them as they all looked up at whoever was talking to them. There, standing in front of them was Kidan, Cealy, Sora, Rena and all their Pokemon that were still out, all looking at them not very pleased.

"Who are you?" The red haired grunt asked them.

"The brats!" Chelse and Darek exclaimed in anger.

"You know them?" The blue haired grunt asked their two leaders.

"These kid are nothing but trouble! Get rid of them!" Chelse ordered them all, who all complied as they each pulled out their pokeballs.

Cubone, who wanted to get revenge on them for killing its mother, was being held back by Rena who was makign sure it didn't hurt itself from the battle that was about to begin. "You can't take on these enemies. We'll have to leave it to Kidan and the others," she told Cubone as she wacthed him and his friends worriedly.

"Get them Koffing!" The red haired grunt called out as the purple toxic gas Pokemon Koffing appeared in front of them.

"You too Raticate!" The blue haired grunt shouted as his big rat-like Pokemon Raticate emerged to the field.

"Send them packing Zubat!" The green haired grunt cried out as he sent his blue blinded bat-like Pokemon Zubat out of its pokeball.

"Ekans, get them!" Darek ordered as Ekans slithered into the field.

"Don't let them win Oddish! Chelse commanded as Oddish hopped into the field with the other Pokemon.

"Slice! Swirl! Let's get to it!" Kidan called out as he sent his blue swirled Pokemon Swirl, or Poliwhirl, into the field as he joined alongside Slice.

"Help them out Spree!" Cealy cried out as Spree flew off Cealy's head and hovered over the battlefield.

"Nidorina! Ghastly! Show them whose the boss!" Sora exclaimed tossing out his pokeball as his light bluish poison pin Pokemon Nidorina emerged.

"Koffing, use your Smog attack!" The red haired grunt ordered as his Koffing shot out a puff of gas from its air holes at them.

"Spree, use your Gust attack to bloe it away!" Cealy shouted as Spree flew in front of them and flapped her moth-like wings against the gas back at Koffing.

"Zubat, use Supersonic!" The green haired grunt ordered his Pokemon. Zubat flies into battle as it shot a wave of yellow rings at Kidan and the other's Pokemon.

"Ghastly, use your Night Shade attack to block it!" Sora commanded. Appearing right in front of the team, Ghastly shoots out a ray of purple and black energy shots from its eyes as they contacted with the Supersonic, causing it to explode.

"Grr! Raticate, use Hyper Fang!" The blue haired grunt ordered his Raticate as it sprung into action, charging right at them with bright and larger teeth.

"Swirl, counter it with Bubble barrage!" Kidan shouted his Pokemon. Swirl got in front of Ghastly as it shot dozens and dozens of powerful bubbles at the charging Raticate, sending it flying back to the other two Pokemon that had already attacked.

"Oh no! Our Pokemon!" The blue haired grunt exclaimed in fear.

"What do we do?!" The red haired grunt exclaimed with the same expression.

"Don't be such cowards! Oddish, use Mega Drain!" Chelse shouted.

"Ekans, send them packing with Poison Sting!" Darek ordered.

"Slice, counter Oddish with Pursuit Cut!" Kidan commanded his Pokemon.

"Follow Ekan's Poison Sting with yours Nidorina!" Sora ordred his own Pokemon.

Both Pokemon leapt into action as Slice dodged Oddish's Mega Drain attack and starts slashing it continuously while Nidorina went head to head with Ekans with Poison Sting. But it was utterly futile as Nidorina was able to beat Ekans at her own game. The attacks from both of them left Oddish and Ekans in the dust, leaving them fainted.

"Blast! Not again!" Darek growled in annoyance.

"I-it can't be!" The red haired grunt said with much shock.

"We actually lost!" The blue haired grunt said not really believign what he had just witnessed.

"What do we do now?" The green haired grunt asked his two leaders.

"Mmm...we'll have to withdraw! This plan is another failure for Team Rocket!" Chelse replied as she and the other returned their Pokemon back to their respective pokeballs.

"We'll remember this kids! We'll get you back for this, we swear!" The red haired grunt growled as they all made their escape from the tower, flying out of the window with their own Jetpacks they had brought into the tower earlier.

"Alright, we did it!" Rena cheered, as well as Cubone who was no longer saddened.

Kidan, Cealy and Sora all thanked and complimented their Pokemon on a great job as they healed them with their Super Potions they had bought before entering the tower. They all couldn't help but smile at Rena and the baby Cubone. The bond between those two had actually grew now. With little time left, they all hurried up to the next level to find Mr. Fugi and free him.

Rena, who had taken the lead with Cubone in her arms, all make it up the top floor of the Pokemon Tower as she quickly spots Mr. Fugi tied up on the end of the room. "Mr. Fugi!"

"Cubone cu!" The baby Cubone cried out happily.

"Rena? Oh thank goodness your alright! You came to save me!" Mr. Fugi happily replied as Rena and Cubone kneeled next to him. But when he saw three other figures approach him, he was absolutely suprised. "Kidan? Cealy? Sora? What are you children doing here?"

"We've came to help," Kidan replied with a smile as he and Slice messed with the rope that was tied to Mr. Fugi.

"That's right! Kidan and his friends were the ones who beat Team Rocket in a Pokemon battle!" Rena replied.

"Well, that's two I owe you kids for saving me," Mr. Fugi half-joked with a sincere smile on his face. "You have my gratitude."

"You don't need to thank us, sir," Cealy said to him smiling.

"We were already happy to help. Plus we got to kick some Rocket butt as a bonus," Sora joked with a thumbs up and grin.

Chuckling, Mr. Fugi looked back over to Rena and spotted the baby Cubone in her arms looking much happier. "I guess that Marowak must have finally reunited with her lost child. Now she can rest in peace once again. And we have you and your friends to thank for that as well Kidan."

On the next, after freeing Mr. Fugi from the clutches of Team Rocket and their agents, as well as solving the mystery with Cubone and the dead Marowak mother, everything was finally back to normal. Mr. Fugi had explained to the town what happened and told them that the tower was finally reopened to the public once more.

Most of the town couldn't wait as some had already entered the tower to pay their respects to their and the other people's dead Pokemon.

"I came here to pay my respects to Clefairy," the man with glasses and blakc mustache, along with a yellow shirt said sadly as he wiped the coming tears from his eyes. "I just can't stop crying though..."

"Oh my Growlithe," the same blonde woman with the pink shirt said clutching a picture of her old partner Growlithe in her arms, "I miss you so. Why did you have to leave?"

Even though it was still hard for those who had lost their dearest Pokemon, they couldn't help but feel happy that they were finally able to repay their respects for them.

Back at the Pokemon House, Rena was attending to the now non-nervous but happy baby Cubone, who she was holding in her arms. "Oh how I love Cubone like this! Its just so warm!"

Watching them all with smiles were Kidan, Cealy, Sora, Mr. Fugi and their Pokemon, who were tocuhed by the scene.

"Thanks to you three again, my hometown of Lavender has finally been able to come back to normal," Mr. Fugi saids to them all. "And as you can see, Cubone has finally opened up to being with people."

"Really Mr. Fugi, it was nothing, honestly," Kidan chuckled in embarrassment rubbing the back of his head.

"As always...so modest," Cealy giggled with a small blush on her cheeks, only making him beat red and more embarrassed with Sora just watching with a sigh but also a smile.

"By the way, you three mentioned about working on the new device called the PokeDex for Professor Oak, correct?" Mr. Fugi curiously asked them.

"Yeah, that's right," Kidan replied happily. "We're helping Professor Oak in completing it."

"It has been sometime since I talked to him," Mr. Fugi replied with a smile. "You know, he mentioned two trainers from Pallet Town that were suppose to be on a journey now. I wonder if this was all a coincidense of some sort."

"As long as its not a ghost folk tale, I can live with that," Sora replied causing them all to laugh, as well as him and Eevee.

"Speaking fo the PokeDex, Rena said that you know much about Pokemon. Is that true?" Kidan asked him.

"Yes, that is true," Mr. Fugi started to say, seeing the happy faces on all of them. "But, unfortunately, I fear your quests to completing the PokeDex's may fail without the love for Pokemon. However, I see that your quest though will have high hope for all of you. I've seen the way you've treated your Pokemon each, and you have all done well raising them. For that, I may be able to assist you to help you all to complete that quest."

"Really?" Cealy asked with much hope.

"How?" Sora asked him.

Chuckling, Mr. Fugi pulls out a strange item that was wrapped in a clothe and handed it to Kidan, placing it in his hands. Curious as to what it was, he carefully pulled away the clothe on top to reveal something that they all recognize from earlier. In his hands was the same Poke' Flute that Mr. Fugi had been playing since they met him a coupel days ago.

"Your Poke' Flute?" Kidan asked with shock. "B-but I can't take this! This is yours!"

"Maybe," Mr. Fugi started to agree with him, "but I know that special flute has much more meaning than just playing soothing music. It was also meant to help trainers on their quests as they meet strange and numerous Pokemon in the world," he explains. "I've travelled this world when I was younger, and met new and very other interesting Pokemon. But my time has long past since then, and I would liek to help the next generation to see what I have saw. And those trainers I wan to help out would be the three of you. So please, grant this old man a wish and use this Poke' Flute on your travels to help you complete the PokeDex's."

After thinking about it for a bit, Kidan finally replied, "You've got it, Mr. Fugi. We'll take extra care of it."

With that, after a bit more talking, Kidan, Cealy and Sora, as well as their Pokemon say their goodbyes to Mr. Fugi, Rena and the others of Lavender Town as they make their way to Route 8, where they will be heading straight for their next gym battle in Saffron City.

Their adventure is still far from over and most of them had gained something in return; Kidan had received the Silph Scope from Cealy at the Pokemon Tower, as well as the Poke' Flute that Mr. Fugi given to him while Sora recieved his fifth Pokemon, Ghastly, who promised to take extra care of it after learning that it was abandoned in the tower by its own trainer. But I wonder what Cealy will get soon? And what will await them all in Saffron City and their gym battle? I guess you'll have to find out on the next chapter...
