"No, Travis, you're not disarming him correctly. You have to take a step forward and then unlock his grip on the hilt."
"But I'm trying!"
"Oh, my gods, stop whining! Turn the energy from the step into energy that can be used in your disarming move. If you step last, what good does that do? It would be useless. Try it again… and do it right this time! Otherwise Connor will never get the chance to practice, too."
"Okay, okay. Sheesh," Travis mutters under his breath.
"You're such a moron," Annabeth huffs before moving on to work with the other students in her hand-to-hand combat class for the next fifteen minutes. As she goes to work with Katie, however, she feels a pair of muscular arms wrap around her waist.
"Hey," her boyfriend whispers in her ear in his deep voice.
"Hi," she responds, smiling, before turning around in his grasp to meet his bright sea green eyes with her sparkling grey ones. He leans down and kisses her softly, but she soon pulls away in an effort to question him. He doesn't let her get that far, however, as he leans down for another kiss. She obliges happily for about ten seconds before she hears a voice from the back of the arena.
"Hey, lovebirds, do you mind? Connor and I are trying to focus here!"
Annabeth huffs again in Percy's arms, not even bothering to turn around. "Shut up, Travis! We all know you'll never be able to disarm correctly! To be honest, I think you have a better chance of getting Katie to go out on a date with you!"
The rest of the campers, including Percy (who smirks at his girlfriend's admittedly attractive ability to make such wise remarks), snigger at this, which makes the usually cocky Travis Stoll's ears tint a bit red. The son of Hermes proceeds to hit his brother on the upper arm with the hilt of a dagger when Connor begins laughing out loud.
"Anyway," Annabeth starts her conversation with Percy again, "not that I'm not happy you're here, but why are you here so soon? I thought you were coming later this week?"
"Oh, I was going to come later," Percy replies, "but apparently I was whining too much at home about still not being able to see you for a few days, so Mom and Paul decided to drop me off a bit early."
Annabeth rolls her eyes at him while smiling, which makes Percy laugh. She stands in his arms for another moment, savoring the feeling of security they give her, before turning around and breaking free of his embrace. As soon as she does so, the conch horn blows, alerting the demigods for dinner. "Alright, we'll pick back up tomorrow!" she tells the campers. "Travis and Connor, you're in charge of returning the weapons to the storage shed!"
"What?"
"Why us?"
"Because you've been sitting on the ground for the past five minutes, drawing in the dirt and asking poor Katie out three times in a row."
"How d'you know that? You were talking to Percy and looking in the opposite direction the whole time!"
"Three times? You were counting? Why were you counting? I thought it was only two times!"
"SHUT UP AND GO PUT THE STUPID WEAPONS AWAY!"
"Okay, okay, we're going. Percy, you have a deadly girlfriend."
"TRAVIS!"
"Okay, okay, bye! We're leaving!"
"Thank the gods," Annabeth mutters as she watches the two teenagers collect all weapons and make their way to the storage shed. She then turns around to look at Percy. "Dinner?"
"I thought you'd never ask," he replies before taking her hand in his and leading her to the dining pavilion.
Okay so this is only the first chapter of a few I'm doing for Percabeth. I'm currently working on the next series of events for this story, which will probably take place in the dining pavilion once Percy and Annabeth get there. I know this chapter was short and didn't contain a lot of Percabeth, but the next few will. Also, after this little story is finished, I'll be doing one on Caleo, which I've never tried before, but it's worth a shot. Thank you to Drakky28293, who suggested some Percabeth and Caleo chapters. I'll update as soon as I can!
