Something Bad

Dean Winchester

This Purgatory business keeps getting weirder.

Bonnie is an angel.

How is that something that never came up in her family meetings? You'd think it would be hard to hide. Like "Oh sweetie, your shadow has wings because birds are always close by…"

No. That's lame.

She doesn't even have wings.

I guess being a witch too really was helpful for her. I just can't believe we didn't see it. The amount of time we spent around Cas and all the other heavenly hosts, I thought we were experts on these things. But I guess Cas alone has shown me that I can be so wrong about the things I think I know.

Still, it's gotta be rough for the girl. I mean this life is not one I would wish on anyone. All this angels and demons crap is what we've been dealing with our whole lives, but Bon's just getting thrown into it. Yeah, she's been fighting the supernatural in this town for years, but Twilight's got nothing on The Exorcist. I just don't know if she sees it yet. She's strong, tough, and powerful as all get up. But taking on this fight—our fight—might be more than she needs on her shoulders.

"We've been going through these journals and my family's grimoires for weeks now, I don't think there's anything here that's going to show us how to destroy the Other Side," Bonnie cries from the corner of her living room.

We've been staying with Bon and researching everything we can about Purgatory the last few weeks. Her dad dropped the bomb about her being a Nephilim and the only one strong enough to destroy Purgatory and then disappeared. I was pissed he didn't help at all but Bonnie didn't seem surprised. She even let us angel proof her house to keep all angel eyes and ears out of what we're doing. I guess she's just used to figuring things out for herself. So far though what we've gotten is a whole lot of nothing.

"There's got to be something we're missing," Sam says. "I refuse to believe that a half angel created a whole new dimension for supernatural souls and no one noticed it."

"That's the thing though, everyone noticed. All things know about the existence of the Other Side" Bonnie chimes in.

"Yeah but knowing it's there, even knowing how to get in, doesn't help us destroy it." Sam replies.

"Let's look at it from another angle then" she says back to him. Bonnie and Sam have a way of ignoring me when they get together. "All supernaturals know about the Other Side. What they don't all know is the story behind who created it and why."

"What are you thinking?"

"I think maybe someone had a hand in hiding everything." She glances between the two of us but her focus stays toward Sam. "Look, from what you've told me about angels, a majority of them blindly accept what God tells them and they obey orders. Right?"

"Well, yeah, but what are you getting at?" I ask.

"Ramiel must have come here because God sent him. But God's MIA right now, isn't he?"

"Yeah…" Sam says skeptically.

"But he's also this great, all knowing being, with plans for the world. He could've told Ramiel about his plan when he was still in heaven, right?"

Sam nods and a look of understanding flashes across his face. I'm glad he gets it but I'm still over here very much confused. Bonnie can tell.

"My ancestor Qetsiyah created the Other Side over 2,000 years ago."

"And?" I question. I have no idea where she's going with this.

"Well she only had the power to create it because of what she was—not just a witch but a Nephilim."

"Okay Bon, I'm still not getting it."

"Well maybe God sent an angel to father her because he wanted her to create Purgatory. Maybe God needed her to create it and now he needs me to destroy it."

"Whoa, let's be serious, Bon, why would the big guy do that?" I ask.

"I don't know but maybe it's all part of God's plan somehow. I mean how else do you explain so much about Qetsiyah and Purgatory being hidden from almost everyone except one angel, my father, who knew to come here now."

"Yeah, Cas obviously doesn't know about it. If this was common knowledge, he would've tried to use Bonnie long before Crowley sent us to this town."

"Exactly! Only God, the man in hiding as we speak, could keep that knowledge a secret from most angels" she says.

"So what, we need to go looking for God?" I ask. Because that'll be easy...

"No, I don't think so," Bonnie starts but the sound of my phone ringing cuts her off.

I look down at the caller id and see Ben's name on the screen.

"Ben—"

"There's men in the house!" He cries.

"What?"

"They killed Matt! They got Mom! They're coming. I hear them."

"What are they?"

"I-I don't know."

"Did you see their eyes?"

"No."

"Teeth?"

"No."

"This is important, Ben, I need to know."

"Dean, I don't know!"

"Where are you now?"

"In my room."

"Can you get to your mom's closet, I left a shotgun in there."

"No! Dean, what do I do?"

"Okay, Ben, listen to me. Go to your window and jump."

"What?!"

"Any bones you break won't compare to what they're gonna do to you, Ben. You've got to jump."

"Okay, I'm going."

"I'm coming right now."

I hear a crash on the other side of the line.

"I'm coming to get you and your mom, Ben. I promise."

Silence.

"You with me, Ben?"

"Ben?"

"Ben?"

...

"Hello Dean," an accented voice says. "Fancy a chat?"

A/N: This started to get away from me in length so I cut it down to two chapters. There will be another update before the weekend!
