A mother's son

"You got kids?" The curly haired woman asked. Rod glared, it was her policy to never discuss her children. Amy and James were not part of the world she worked in and they never would be.

"When did you last see your son." Ros stated rather than asked. She had no time for pleasantries. Lucas smirked slightly knowing Ros would never use their children to get a potential asset on side. Ros North was completely different to Ros Myers the spy.

"He was going places, until his excuse for a father got in touch. You do know he was married before we got together?"

"Yeah." Lucas frowned.

"Ad a daughter. His Linda. Bloody adored him. Well, you know what girls are like for their dads."

Ros narrowed her eyes. She knew exactly what lengths daughters would go to for their fathers. Pushing the memories of her father's betrayal aside she stepped nearer to the grieving woman.

"You're aware how your son died?"

"Blew imself up."

"Killed a young woman as she pushed her daughter's pram. Her two year old in the process." Lucas pressed her further. "Your step daughter was killed trying to kill two officers."

"Linda adored her dad but she wasn't stupid. She called me the day before she died. Told me what was happening and she was going to stop him."

"Mrs Moran."

"Julia."

"Why would she want to stop him? If she adored him so much?" Ros glared.

"She'd met a lad. Knew her father would never approve. His future son in law being a Muslim boy. In fairness Sanjib is a nice boy. Junior doctor, knew nowt about Linda's past. I want it kept that way."

"Where is he?"

"Sanjib?"

"Moran."

"I don't know and I don't want to know."

"I'll ask again." Ros narrowed her eyes. "Where is he?" The middle aged woman sucked on her cigarette making her face hollow in the process.

"Bird watching would be my guess. He was always doing that."

"Where the bodies are buried." Lucas touched Ros' arm before stepping back. He knew exactly where Towers and Moran were hiding.

Sophie glared at the wall in front of her. She was furious and knew her bosses would know why she hadn't turned up for work. The door to the interview room creaked open as Alec and Beth walked in. Ruth sat in the adjoining room listening and watching everything that was happening. Beth pulled the chair away from the table with an audible scrape.

"Hi." She smiled at the scowling red haired woman.

"Sophie." Alec started. "We wouldn't have asked you to come in if it wasn't important. People have died."

"I know and it's awful. It really is, but it is nothing to do with me. I don't even work in the Home Office anymore."

"Someone has been feeding information to William Towers. He's s traitor." Beth stated. "He funded the explosion, picked the targets. You know that."

"Careful." Ruth stated quietly, aware that only Beth and Alec could hear her.

"Do you know who died? We all know you had a crush on Harry Pearce. Seeing his wife out the way could only be to your advantage."

"No!" Sophie snapped. "I haven't done smithing wrong. I don't know anything!"

Beth glanced at Alec unsure of how far to push the young woman in front of them. Sophie rested her head in her hands as Alec leaned across the desk.

"Sophie."

"I don't know."

"I believe you." Beth spoke calmly. "But you know who has been helping Towers. You know who sold out the Grid, set Graham Pearce up and murdered Ruth."

"No."

"Don't protect someone else. It's not worth going to prison for." She held the younger woman's gaze.

"I."

"Ten to fifteen years, conspiracy to commit acts of terror, perverting the course of justice, conspiracy to murder. You'd be what ? Fifty?"

"Forty. I'm 25."

"Then don't waste your life."

"You have a mole. You're right but it isn't me. I like Harry and I've always thought Towers was a bit of a pompous idiot."

"We agree on something." Alec sighed as he heard Ruth in his earpiece. "Careful, ask her if the mole is Towers most recent sidekick. Jason Morgan has dated Sophie."

"He is." Beth smiled. "Like Jason Morgan his PA."

"He wouldn't?"

"Because he loves you? He's not exactly battering the door down to get you out of here." Alec spat. "If my partner was in here I'd be demanding she was let out. That the truth came out whatever the consequences - he's not here and Dimitri and Erin are picking him up now. He knows you are here." Sophie wiped a tear away before hugging herself as the tears came.

Harry slammed the phone down, furious that yet another politician had turned out to be a crook. He looked up to see Erin in the doorway of his office.

"Ros and Lucas are on the way back. We have CO19 ready to go. Are you sure about this?"

"Yes." Erin nodded before stepping back. She was desperate to get home to her mum and Rosie but knew it would be a while yet. Ruth appeared in the doorway smiling slightly.

"Ruth."

"All airports and docks are closed to them. Eurostar are on alert. Everyone is headed back here for the briefing. They won't win, Harry. Towers and Moran are not getting their way this time."

Harry nodded, he just hoped Ruth was right.
