Molly/Lily
Prompt: Blue
Blue

There was a clatter and a high-pitched squeal coming from the nursery. Suddenly, the sound of crying filtered through to the bedroom. Lily woke with a start and shot straight up in bed; a response that had become almost automatic to her children's cries. She glanced at Lysander, who was pretending to still be asleep, but Lily knew better. His eyes were forced shut, as to keep them from opening and revealing his ruse.
"Ly! Something's wrong!" Lily shoved him roughly and got out of bed. Not bothering to put a dressing gown on – even though it was the middle of winter – she raced into the nursery and gasped at what she saw. There, twitching in his crib, was little Kai. His face and lips were turning blue, as though he couldn't breathe. River was screaming on the floor next to the crib, tugging at her strawberry blonde pigtails in anguish.
"Mummy!" she wailed hysterically. "Mummy, I didn't mean to!"
"Hush, dear," Lily begged her daughter as she pulled Kai from his crib and cradled him in her arms. Her fingers went to his pulse and she gasped at the faintness of it.
"LY!" Lily screamed, as her husband burst into the room, his caramel locks a mess about his face.
"What is it, Lil?" he asked, rushing to her side. His mouth fell open when he saw his son.
"I'm taking him to Molly. Bring River with you."
Without a glance at the rest of her family, Lily scurried downstairs towards the fireplace, stepped inside with a handful of Floo Powder, and vanished with a flash of green flame. She clutched Kai tightly to her breast as she felt the familiar twisting sensation until she landed in her cousin's fireplace, coughing and spluttering.
"MOLLY!" she screamed at the empty house, not caring that Molly had a small child of her own that was probably asleep. "MOLLY, IT'S LILY! PLEASE, COME QUICKLY!"
There was movement upstairs as Lily stepped out of the fireplace, and soon, a very pregnant Molly was hurrying down the stairs as fast as her body would allow.
"Lily! What's wrong?" she asked as she approached her youngest cousin.
Too upset for words, Lily merely thrust her twitching son into Molly's arms just as Lysander and River appeared in the fireplace.
"Oh dear," Molly whispered softly. "What happened to him?"
"I didn't mean to, Mummy!" River screamed, clutching her tear streaked face. "It just exploded out of me. I couldn't help it!"
The seven year old clung to her father's leg, refusing to meet her mother's eyes. Lily was in hysterics, flinging herself at Molly and begging her to do something… anything.
"It's alright, I can heal him, Lily. Stay down here and try to calm yourself. I'll get David to put the kettle on." With that, Molly turned on her heel and hurried upstairs with Kai. Lily clutched her chest and sunk into the sofa, her breaths deep and ragged. Lysander picked up River and sat next to her, patting her back.
"Shhhh, love, it's alright. He's in good hands."
Lily nodded and turned to give her husband a weak smile. Then, she reached out and stroked her daughter's hair. "Don't cry, sweetheart," she told her gently. "It's not your fault. You're showing your first signs of magic."
River's bottom lip quivered and she nodded her pretty head slowly, her blue eyes wide in shock. Lysander pressed a kiss to her hair and hugged her tightly.
"She's going to be a powerful witch, this one," he grinned at Lily.
They sat in silence while David, Molly's husband, poured them each a cup of tea and bounced a now fully awake Thomas on his knee. After what felt like hours to Lily, when really, it was only fifteen minutes, Molly returned with Kai gurgling in her arms. His face was no longer blue and he blinked up at the adults around him in mild confusion.
"Oh, my baby!" Lily rushed to Molly and took her son into her arms, tears of joy in her eyes. "Thank you, Molly. Thank you so much!" She hugged her cousin tightly.
"It was no problem," Molly smiled at her cousin kindly. "He had been hit with a rather impressive Tongue-Swelling curse by this little lady," she grinned at River. "Unfortunately, his tongue had swollen to an enormous size and was blocking his windpipe, so he couldn't breathe. But I gave him the correct antidote. He's absolutely fine."
Lily grinned. "I'm sorry I woke your family," she added sheepishly.
"Nonsense," Molly shook her head. "It was not a problem at all. Luckily you got him to me, otherwise he might not have been revivable." When Lily paled at the thought, Molly leant in and whispered, "You might want to think about separate bedrooms for these two until River is a bit older and can control her magic a little better."
"Of course," said Lily. "Well, thank you so much, again. Have a lovely rest of your evening."
"You too," Molly hugged them each again.
As the family stepped into the fireplace, Lysander bent low to his wife's ear. "I told you we should have put them in separate rooms."
The last thing Molly saw before the green flames, was Lily glaring at her husband.
A/N: Another short one. I tried to make this feel a little rushed, because I imaging that's how Lily would be feeling when she noticed her son wasn't breathing. Who better to go to than her wonderful cousin Molly - who also happens to be an amazing Healer! Please read and review! :) xx
Ages: Lily (25), Molly (27), Lysander (24), River (7), Kai (5 months)
