Quarrel

"FRED WEASLEY!"
Bullocks, Fred thought to himself. He was sitting down in the common room with James, the two of them trying to study for their Potions final later in the week. It had proved to be a fruitless attempt, however, since the two of them had begun a game of exploding snap on top of their textbooks. There was a searing hole through the middle of his textbook, cause of James winning the first round.
His sister's scream had awakened the entire Gryffindor common room and they all stared at the staircase, waiting for the row that was about to come.
Seconds later, Roxanne appeared on the stairs, her black, curly hair flying around her face and her dark eyes glowing dangerously. She stormed down the steps, pushing over first years, as she made her way to her older brother.
"Hey sis," Fred greeted her casually, leaning back in his chair. His attempt at being cool seemed to have no effect on her, apparently. In fact, it seemed to make her even angrier.
"Why is Zachary Jordan in the Hospital Wing?!" she demanded of him, putting her hands on her hips and giving him her best 'Angelina' impression.
Fred gulped. Roxanne sure had a temper, and it wasn't a pleasant sight. "No idea, dear sister. There must be something going around."
She stepped closer to him, her face inches from his. Her breaths were deep and ragged, like a volcano ready to erupt.
"I don't think so," she hissed. "I think someone slipped him a little something. A Puking Pastel, perhaps?"
Fred turned to look at James, who shrugged his shoulders. "Puking Pastel?" he exclaimed, feigning disbelief. "My dear Roxanne, you know McGonagall banned all Weasley products from school."
She rolled her eyes. "As if that would stop the two of you," she gestured between her and James.
"Roxanne," James interrupted, "I think you're being a little unreason – "
"Shut it, Potter!" she growled at him, her eyes narrowing dangerously. "This is between me and my dear brother. Now," she turned back to Fred and grabbed his roughly by the collar. "Why did you slip Zachary a Puking Pastel."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Fred glared back at her.
"DON'T YOU LIE TO ME, FRED WEASLEY!" she bellowed. "He was meant to be taking me to Hogsmeade today!"
The entire Common Room had their eyes trained on the two siblings, watching the fight unfold before them with mild amusement.
At this, Fred scowled. "He's a 6th year! You're far too young for him."
Roxanne threw her hands up in the air. "I'm almost fourteen. And Zach doesn't think I'm too young. He likes me!"
Fred rose to his feet, towering over his sister. "If you think I'm going to let some horny 6th year take my baby sister to Hogsmeade for a snog…" he snarled.
Frustrated tears started to pool in Roxanne's eyes. "My god, Freddie! Would you quit making me out to be some sort of skank! It was just going to be a date."
"Sure," Fred scoffed. "I know what sixteen year old guys think about, Roxie."
"Right, like you're one to talk. You and Emily were shagging in 5th year! When she was only fifteen! Zach and I haven't even kissed yet."
Tears were now streaming steadily down her cheeks, but Fred wouldn't budge. "This isn't about me. This is about you. I'm just looking out for you."
"I don't need you to look out for me, Freddie!" she cried, her entire body shaking with rage. "Why can't you trust me?"
"I do trust you, Roxie," he reached for her hand. "I just don't trust him. I don't regret giving him a Puking Pastel. You're my kid sister. And he's a slimy, horny, prat."
Slap
Fred cried out and clutched his face as Roxanne glared at him. "I hate you," she hissed venomously, and dashed out of the Common Room. Fred stood there, staring after his sister's retreating figure, as the rest of the Common Room began chatting amongst themselves, discussing what had just unfolded between the two siblings. James patted Fred on the shoulder, but he shrugged him off and stormed upstairs to his dormitory. He was just trying to look out for his baby sister. Did that make him a terrible person? She was still only thirteen. She couldn't trust a sixteen year old. Fred had been sixteen. There had only been one thing on his mind. Fred couldn't allow her to put herself in a situation where someone might take advantage of her. He was her big brother. That's what they were for. Right?
A/N: I enjoyed writing this a lot. I love angsty family relationships. They're just so pure and raw. And Freddie's one of my favourites. I hope you enjoyed this. Please read and review :) xx
Ages: Fred (18), Roxanne (13 - 14 in June), James (18).
