Chapter 11

Natasha slowly opened her eyes and right away noticed how tired and sluggish she felt. Her arms felt like they were made of solid lead.
Her vision cleared after a few seconds and she saw she was still in the cell she had been shoved in. The gag had been removed and now her wrists were in shackles that were chained to the floor. The guards were still present too.
Across from her cell, she spotted Steve still lying on the gurney. His sleeve had clearly been moved and he was tied down just as much as he was before. The sedative was still in a mist form flowing into his cell to keep him unconscious.
Looking down at her right arm, she saw where they had taken her blood. The noticable entry wound from the needle was easily noticed and a bruise was starting to show around it.
How much did they take? she asked herself.
She knew it couldn't have been too much since her version of the serum was only about half as perfect as Steve's. She feared that they took more than the safe amount from Steve. His version is the one that everyone wants. The version that they were willing to risk their own lives for.
Bruce Banner is a very example of that and he didn't even want the serum for himself. He'd been tricked into it and ended up paying a great price for someone else's greed.
Right now, everything seemed so quiet. The armed guards were the only Hydra agents around. The scientists were gone and the computers weren't on.
So where did they take our blood? Natasha thought as she attempted to turn onto her side in hopes of lessening the nausea she felt. To feel this way, she knew that at least two or three pints of her blood were taken.
How long will it take for them to realize they can't duplicate Steve's version of the serum? Will they even be able to copy mine? No one's ever tried to copy my version of the serum. Still, that's a cause for concern. An army of people like me is something that should be stopped before it happens.
Gathering her strength, Natasha slowly forced herself to sit up. When she did, her head swam and she was tempted to lie down again and continue to sleep.
But she forced herself to stay sitting up and to stay awake. She noticed the guards pay close attention to her since she was awake and moving but they stayed put.
They seemed to think that she wasn't much of a threat while she was so drained. How she wanted to prove them wrong. But right now she had to focus on trying to find a way out of this.
She hated to admit it but she might have to wait for the others to show up in order to get out of this. Even if she recovered her strength soon, with Steve still sedated there was no way that they could pull off a successful escape.
She would need the captain at full strength in order for them to fight of the forces that would come their way. Not being able to get to him to stop the sedation was going to be next to impossible for her since she couldn't even get out of her own cell without risking getting shot.
She couldn't even stand at the moment so she knew that she wouldn't be in any condition for a jailbreak any time soon.
Clint, everyone, please hurry. she thought to herself, somehow hoping her pleas would be heard by her friends.
