Welp, combined with college and a new obsession with Ace Attorney, I think it's safe to say that I'm glad to get this up!
If you remember last time: The nations and the Digitalia entered the Digital Core and were soon attacked by giant monsters made of goo. The monsters completely ignored the Digitalia, but absorbed the nations completely. In the shock of the moment, the Digitalia had memory thrust upon their young minds...a memory they didn't know they had...
Enjoy!
Seven humans stood at the entrance of a large cave. After weeks of traveling, they had finally arrived at what was supposedly their destination. "Dudes, what's with this creepy-ass tunnel? Is this really the place the villagers were talking about?" America asked.
"I don't know Alfred-san, but it seems rather sinister." Japan answered.
Italy clung to Japan's arm and shivered lightly, "Ve…it's scary…" he whispered. The seven nations couldn't help but silently agree. Something about this cave emanated eeriness that gave a really bad vibe; a 'if you go in there you won't come back out' vibe. However, according to the villagers, this place was the only way home.
After weeks of living off berries and running from gigantic Digitalia things, they were ready to go home. And since no one was willing to lead the charge, Prussia decided to start the engine. "Well, we won't get anywhere by standing here!" He pointed to the entrance and began to walk forward, "Go my awesome army!"
BONG!
Everyone flinched as Prussia fell to the ground with a huge bump on his head and Hungary stood over his with her frying pan. "Who made you the leader?!" she demanded.
"Damn Liz, not awesome…" Prussia muttered, rubbing his head.
America rolled his eyes, "Come on, we can beat each other up after we get back home."
Belarus walked up to Hungary as they entered the cave, "Could you perhaps hit him harder next time?" she asked, an evil glint appearing in her eyes.
Canada sweat-dropped, "Belarus, you're not helping, eh?" he said softly.
The group ventured deep into the cave, encountering nothing threatening thus far. "This place isn't all that bad." America commented. "It kinda reminds me of some Luray Caverns back at my place."
"Considering that we haven't run into trouble yet." Japan added. Italy whimpered and clutched Japan's arm tighter, trying to control his fear.
"Is it just me, or is it getting hot in here?" Prussia asked, tugging at his collar.
Hungary wiped her brow which was starting to sweat quite a bit, "It is a bit stuffy in here, isn't it?" The group began to breathe heavily, trying to get a satisfying amount of air into their lungs, but with not much success.
"I don't like this…this atmosphere…" Japan said softly, his eyes darting around, "I don't think we are alone."
"Say what?!" America exclaimed.
"I think we have been watched since we first entered here." Japan continued.
"M-Maybe we should get out of here!" Italy suggested. But before anyone could suggest otherwise, the feeling of movement came from behind them.
"W-What was that?" Canada squeaked.
"Dudes, I don't like this…" America muttered. They slowly turned around to see something big creeping towards them. It floated in the air revealing itself to be a large mass of goo.
"W-what the hell…?" Prussia trailed off.
"Okay, we've some weird shit in this world, but this takes the cake!" America said, taking a few steps back.
Italy hid behind Japan, "I don't like it, what is it?" he whimpered. Everyone slowly backed away, except for Belarus, as the goo just seemed to hover in front of them. Belarus scowled at the creature, not moving from her spot.
America glanced between her and the goo, "Belarus…" he warned, "Don't try to be brave…"
"I don't see how this is supposed to intimidate me." She commented, gesturing at it. "What could this thing possibly do?"
America cried out and covered his eyes, but nothing happened. Everyone looked at him strangely as he peeked through his eyes. "Heh, sorry," he chuckled awkwardly, "Usually something bad happens when you say that." Canada sighed and sweat-dropped.
Belarus turned away from the goo, "Nothing bad is going to happen, stupid American." She snarked, "Now let's keep going so I can get back to Russia as soon as possible." She made to step away, and that's when it struck. The goo lunged and attached itself to her. Belarus cried out in disgust as it stuck to her like glue and slowly began to cover her body. "Let go of me!" she yelled indignantly.
The other nations could only watch in horror as she was slowly enveloped by the goo. America bolted forwards and grabbed her hands once she was waist deep in the monster. He gave a sharp tug, but the goo would not relent; it was like he was pulling against a vaccum. He glanced at the other nations, "C'mon guys, help me out here!" he yelled.
Hungary hesitantly dropped her frying pan and grabbed one of Belarus' arms. However, the extra nation's strength made little to no difference as the monster continued to eat away at Belarus.
Canada ran forwards too and grabbed Belarus' other arm, but it was no use. They were eventually forced to let go as Belarus disappeared inside the goo which then melted into the floor. The remaining nations stared at the floor in disbelief where Belarus once was.
"She…she's gone…" America muttered, as he fell over from sheer shock.
"Oh maple…" Canada whispered, placing a hand over his mouth. Hungary picked up her frying pan, not taking her eyes off the empty spot.
Italy was trying really hard not to cry now as more movement from the darkness caught his eye. He looked up to see three more goo monsters coming their way. "RUN!" he screamed, pointing at the monsters. They looked up before turning tail, and running deeper into the tunnel.
The monsters lunged after them, chasing them at breakneck speed. For a moment, it looked like they were going to get away, but it wasn't long before something hindered their chance of escape.
Hungary let out a cry as she suddenly tripped on a rock, sending her flying to the ground. Prussia skidded to a stop, "Hungary!" he immediately ran back to her.
"Prussia, no!" Canada cried. By the time Prussia had gotten to her, one of the monsters had already clung to her feet and was climbing up her legs.
"Oh no you don't," he growled, grabbing onto her arms, "Let her go, you bastards!" Hungary tried in vain to pull her feet out, but it was no use.
"Prussia!" Canada yelled. He began to run towards them, but another goo monster threw itself onto Prussia. Prussia cried out as he tried to free himself from the monsters grasp, letting go of Hungary in the process. America stared in horror as his two friends were slowly devoured when another piercing yell got his attention.
"NOOOO! NO LET GO OF ME!"
America and Canada whirled around to see Italy, flailing in the clutches of another goo monster.
"Italy!" Japan cried, trying to pull him out.
"Help me, Japan!" Italy wailed, tears freely flowing from his face.
"Hang on!" America darted forward to help when he felt something hover over him. He looked behind him to see a goo monster right on top of him when something shoved him out of the way. America fell to the ground.
"Run Alfred!"
America looked up to see Canada in the monster's grip. "MATT!" he bellowed. He ran towards him, grabbing onto him tightly. He wasn't going to let his brother be taken from him!
"Alfred, get out of here!" Canada exclaimed.
America shook his head, "Like I'm leaving my brother behind!" America then heard a cry of alarm and looked to see that Japan had also fallen to a monster's clutches. "Japan!" He got one last glance at Italy, screaming bloody murder before he was completely enveloped by the goo.
America grit his teeth and tightened his grip on Canada, even though he knew deep down that it was futile. It wasn't long however, until he finally felt a gooey substance latch onto him and pull him from his brother.
"America!"
"America-san!"
He didn't hear Prussia or Hungary's voices; they were long gone by now.
America felt the goo envelop him quickly. The only thing he could do was reach towards Canada and Japan as they were absorbed completely. America squeezed his eyes shut as the goo began to cover his head.
The last thing he saw was his hand reaching out before everything went black.
Amerimon gasped as he was released from the memory. He and all the other Digitalia panted heavily as they grasped what they had just witnessed. Was that…them? It…it couldn't be. Those people were humans, they were Digitalia.
"Th-that wasn't us…was it?" Itamon asked, voicing everyone's thoughts.
"I…I don't know…" Hungamon whispered.
"It couldn't be…" Belamon said, "We're Digitalia…right?"
Prussiamon shook his head, "After that…I don't know what to believe."
Amerimon shook his head, wiping his still damp eyes with his sleeve, "We can't think about this now," he said, getting to his feet, "We have to find our partners!"
"But…they're gone Amerimon." Canamon said softly.
"How do you know they're gone?" Amerimon asked, "How do we know they're not alive? Like when we were in Shadow Mountain?"
Japamon's head perked up at the question, "That's right…didn't the nations think we were dead when we got shocked by that energy ball?" he asked thoughtfully.
Canamon's eyes widened in understanding, "Yeah! We were turning transparent so it looked like we were dying!"
"When we really only got taken somewhere else!" Itamon finished.
Prussiamon sprung up, "Hey, and maybe if that was us in that…vision or whatever we just saw, and made it out, maybe they can make it out too!" he suggested.
"How do you know we made it out?" Belamon asked doubtfully, still not believing that that was them they saw.
"We're here now, aren't we?" Prussiamon pointed out, "Maybe we wandered in here once in our Advanced forms or something."
"But Digitalia aren't a threat here." Canamon pointed out, "If we're Digitalia, why did we get-"
"There's no time to think about that now!" Amerimon jumped in. "We have to find our partners!"
Japamon nodded, "Hai, our partners are more important!"
"C'mon, we have to hurry!" Hunagmon urged. The seven Digitalia ran as fast as they could though the long tunnel, without any fear of running into those goo monsters.
"Man I wish our wings worked in Basic form!" Prussiamon whined.
The tunnel got wider and wider the deeper they got. "How long is this tunnel?" Amerimon gasped as they kept running.
"I think we're almost there!" Canamon said, pointing ahead of them. A small glow could be seen a ways ahead of them, coming from an entrance.
"C'mon!" Belamon said as they sprinted towards the glow. They ran through the entrance and skidded to a stop.
"Whoa…" Prussiamon breathed as they took in the space around them. The tunnel had suddenly opened into a large space, lit up brightly with crystals. The rocky walls were sprinkled with what looked like pods of some kind, filled with liquid, and of all sizes.
"What are these things?" Amerimon asked, looking at the pods.
"Maybe it's the Digital Core's energy source?" Canamon tried.
"Look up there!" Prussiamon exclaimed, pointing up. The children looked up to see not rocks or stone from the cave on the ceiling, but long tube-like formations. They were dark and stretched miles down in front of them for what looked like forever.
"This place is weird…" Hungamon said softly. The children nodded in agreement; the core of their world was definitely something to behold.
Belamon continued to look up at the tubes when something caught her eye. "Are those tubes…moving?"
The rest of the children looked at her before looking up where she was looking. They squinted and sure enough, they could make out a slight bulge in one of the tubes, slowly inching along.
"What is that?" Hunagamon asked, a little creeped out.
"Energy for these pods?" Prussiamon said unsurely.
"There are more, look!" Japamon pointed further down. Multiple bulges could barely be seen in a line down the tubes.
"This place isn't weird," Amerimon said, making a face, "It's creepy."
"No kidding…" Prussiamon muttered.
Belamon continued to stare at the bulges; she was very intrigued as to what they were. "Maybe we should follow them and see where they go." She suggested.
"Maybe it will lead us to our partners." Japamon pointed out in agreement. The children began to walk through the large tunnel when Itamon jumped in alarm.
"What is it?" Canamon asked.
"Th-The bulge! It moved!" he exclaimed, pointing at one that was further down the tube. The children looked in alarm at the bulge and looked as hard as they could. Amerimon took a step closer and sure enough, he made out a slight twitch from the bulge.
It was like a snake Digitalia's lunch that wasn't completely dead yet or…
"Like something's…trying to get out…" he muttered.
Itamon's eyes widened, "Are you saying that-"
"They could be…?" Canamon trailed off.
Belamon wasn't waiting to find out. She stepped forward, held up both her hands, and fired her beam of blue and white energy. It hit the tube resulting in an explosion of greenish liquid pouring from the tube. The other Digitalia were about to protest when something caught their eye.
The liquid soon resolved to dripping and they saw a hand and arm limply hanging from the torn opening. "No way…" Amerimon whispered.
Their eyes widened as the torn opening suddenly began to fix itself, pulling the hand back inside the tube. "Quick! All together!" Amerimon exclaimed.
The seven children took aim at the bulges they could see, and multiple colored beams filled the area. The children were showered with strange liquid as the tubes were torn open by their attacks.
They fired their attacks again and again, keeping the tubes from repairing themselves until the opening was big enough and seven bodies slipped out and landed on the ground with a squish. "It's them!" Amerimon exclaimed, "It worked!" The nations were dripping wet with greenish liquid and unconscious.
The Digitalia checked them over and were relived to find a faint but active pulse. As Amerimon knelt by Britain's head, he couldn't help but let tears of joy come to his eyes. He looked at his fellow Digitalia who all had glassy eyes as well, except Itamon who was crying all out in happiness.
They were alive. Their partners were alive.
The plot is slowly getting thicker...I'm sure you're all very confused, but it will all become clear next chappie. I'm really looking forward to the reveal for this!
BTW, since this is almost done, I've posted a poll on my profile about what my next big story should be. There are a lot of options so choose wisely!
Review please! I've been quite lonely!
