July 26: If I didn't have you
If I Didn't Have You
By HamburgerWithTea
/Summary/
Alfred and Arthur just finished watching Monsters Inc when Alfred suddenly decided to sing and even dance along with the credits song…
The credits rolled on the screen and Arthur could feel Alfred's body shaking of laughter as the bloopers were being showed. It had been one of their 'Disney-eves' as Alfred liked to call them; if they had nothing else to do they would just watch a Disney film together and cuddle up on the couch.
At first Arthur had been a bit embarrassed by it, after all this was really, really gay and he had to admit he liked it to no end, but sometimes he'd feel as if others would make fun of him if they knew about it.
Alfred, though, seemed not to care and even promised him a trip to Disney World if he got enough money. The American himself, seemed even more excited than Arthur though.
The smaller blonde had a dozed off a bit by now, just staring at the screen as he could feel the body he was leaning on shaking from laughter.
"Haha, oh God, Artie did you see that? How they fell, in slow-motion, dude that was hilarious!" Alfred choked on laughter as more funny videos rolled by.
"Yes, Alfred, wonderful." Arthur mumbled and almost immediately yawned, putting a hand in front of his mouth. He always got so sleepy from watching films, especially when watching with Alfred, because there was nothing better than the broad, muscular chest that went up and down with the younger's breathing. It was so wonderful to lay his head against.
Today they'd watched 'Monsters Inc' which turned out to be one of Alfred's favourite. He would often comment on how much Mike could be like Arthur, which annoyed the other to no end. Especially as the comment about 'how he was only missing a hug eyebrow' was said. Alfred had had to hide his face as Arthur was out to get him for that.
Alfred still lived though, luckily, and slowly started singing along with the song.
"If I were a rich man…" he mumbled, ruffling Arthur's hair, "…With a million or two…"
Arthur liked the sweet, calm sound of Alfred's voice as he was petting his hair. Suddenly, though, he could feel his side being poked. It gave a weird ticking sensation and in a second he was wide awake.
"What- Why did you-!"
"Artie," Alfred said, grabbing the smaller one's hands and trying to pull the other off the couch, which didn't work out too well as Arthur was insisting on staying seated, "Artie, c'mon let's dance!" a quick, strong tug forced Arthur to stand up. The sudden movement made him almost stumble, but Alfred helped him keep his balance.
"And if I were handsome…" Alfred continued to sing as he held Arthur's hands strongly, to make sure the other wouldn't chicken out of this, "It could happen, those dreams do come true…!"
"Alfred, what-" Arthur was quickly twirled around and ended up closer in the other's arms. Alfred's face got closer and his blue eyes almost started to look seductive as Arthur's own, green ones started to grow wider.
"I wouldn't have nothing," Even closer… "If I didn't have you…" the last part was almost whispered and Arthur was sure a kiss would follow soon after, as he closed his eyes. But he was wrong, Alfred continued to sing instead.
"C'mon Artie, sing Mike's part!" He forced. Arthur was used to the nickname by now and Alfred was being too much of a sweetheart at the moment –even though a bit of an annoying sweetheart, he dare say- to care about it and slowly he could hear how his own voice started to mumble along with the lyrics.
He didn't even know when it happened but eventually both sang as loudly as they could. The wide grin on Alfred's face soon showed up on Arthur's as well, and he could no longer deny he actually enjoyed this moment.
"Can I tell you something?" Arthur sang, following the lyrics and figuring that maybe, just maybe, they applied a tiny bit to him, "For years I have envied, your grace and your charm.
Everyone loves you, you know?"
Alfred gave him a sweet look as he leaned in closer again. Arthur could feel his face heat up and wanted to protest that in no way he'd meant it personally and that he definitely only said this because they were the lyrics, but soon Alfred continued singing the song.
The smaller blond could feel how the warm breath touched his cheek and lips, only millimetres away. Arthur couldn't even focus on what he was singing but by the time he pulled himself back from daydreaming again, he noticed they were almost at the part where they would sing together.
"You and me together, that's how it, always should be…" they sang together, staring in each other's eyes, "One without the other, don't mean nothing to me" Arthur cringed at the horrid grammar, but then again it was American, it wasn't much different from how Alfred would talk to him.
"Nothing to me-" Alfred made a weird sound with his voice that Arthur couldn't help but laugh about. He had to get himself together though as it was his turn to sing.
"I'm just a punky little eyeball…" he sang.
"You mean 'Eyebrow', Artie," and for a moment Arthur paused his singing to make sure the other would remember his mistakes for days as he stomped him in the stomach. Not hard, of course, but hard enough for the other to bend over for a bit as he held his tummy in both laughter and pain. Arthur didn't understand how the other was always able to smile.
"Let's dance!" Alfred said as he looked up again, smiling wider than ever. The blush on Arthur's face could no longer be hidden as they started singing the refrain together again.
"I wouldn't have nothin', if I didn't have… I wouldn't have nothin', if I didn't have…" they sang, and this time finally getting close enough to kiss, "I wouldn't have nothin', if I didn't have…. You."
And with a soft, warm feeling their lips met. It was weirdly humorous to sing this together, to realise how fitting this song was and both knew it'd always have a special part in their heart.
The punky little eyebrow would always be in the heart of the Big guy who's grace and charm were always loved, and vice versa. They knew it and as they kissed on, they knew it would last forever.
