"So these chaos emeralds, they can give anyone the ability to become very powerful and control the universe?" Scrappy asked as he rode in the mystery machine with Scooby and the others.

"That's right, anyone could become too powerful for anyone to stop" Blaze told the pup "even Shadow will not be able to stop Metal Sonic or this Mephiles the dark".

"What's worse, the two could literally destroy the world" Espio said.

"Jeepers! That sounds awful!" Daphne said with fear, Cream snuggled Cheese as she grew scared at the coming possibility of the world's destruction made her more scared than usual, Winnie and Tanis whimpered in fear while Shaggy and Scooby hid under the seats and shivered in fear.

"Zoinks!" Shaggy said.

"I can't believe emeralds like that could do something that destructive!" Velma said "but where did they come from?"

"No one really knows, they've been around for thousands of years, maybe even longer" Espio said "all we know is that they give Sonic unimaginable power to defeat those even more powerful than anyone could ever be".

"No wonder those two are after them" Fred said as he drove faster, he stuck his head out the window to see the tornado flying above the van and he shouted "hey Tails! Have you located the energy of the first emerald?" Tails poked his head out to his plane's side to him.

"Yeah, it's up ahead in a town called Eastern city!" Tails said before moving his head back to its original position of focus as the tornado began to speed up.

"We're almost to the first emerald's energy" Fred said as he poked his head back in the van "once we get there, we should split up and find the energy".

"Great idea Fred, we can cover more ground that way" Tug said as he eyed Sibella, the vampire girl eyed him back and delivered a nasty glare, Tug returned it and the two paid no attention to the other.

"Something about them reminds me of Mr. Sonic and Mr. Shadow" Cream said innocently.

"It's something more of world war 3 with those two" Phantasm said before giving a ghastly giggle, now unable to control her laughter, Phanty rolled onto the ground and kept laughing, Elsa eventually grabbed her by the arms and lifted her up, Phanty's laughing soon died down and she gave a few deep breathes before relaxing "the last time they fought, we nearly lost them in the mud!"

"It was fun getting them out, especially being in the mud!" Winnie said with joy.

"It was not!" Sibella said "I ruined my hair that day!"

"Like, just like how I remembered them" Shaggy said.

"Re Roo!" Scooby said.

"Me too!" Scrappy said "it's been ages since we last saw you girls!"

"Yeah, it was pretty boring without you three around" Elsa said "but now that Revolta's back, I guess you guys could stick around after this?" Shaggy opened his mouth to say something but hesitated to do so, he knew that he going to have to tell them eventually about why he left when suddenly, Scooby gave a loud scream and he began to hide behind Shaggy.

"Like, what's wrong Scoob?" Shaggy asked.

"Ronster!" Scooby said as he pointed out the back window, everyone looked out it to see Metal Sonic coming right at them, aiming his hand towards the Mystery Machine, a shot of energy was launched at the van and nearly toppled it over.

"Fred! Drive faster!" Daphne said.

"She's going as fast as she can!" Fred said as he slammed down on the pedal and the mystery machine started to go faster until Metal Sonic caught up to the side of the window and began to beat on it, breaking the glass and the robotic hedgehog reached his hand inside, everyone screamed when Metal Sonic was suddenly grabbed by the back and thrown into the air, Shadow and Sonic both did a double spin dash on him and Shadow threw a wave of chaos spears at him, penetrating his metal skin while Knuckles glided over to him and threw a punch to his chest, Metal Sonic suddenly flew right at Knuckles and copied the same punch but with more force, sending him crashing into the Machine.

Nic eyes were locked on him, he nervously rubbed the back of his neck and sheepishly chuckled. "eh, sorry, force of habit".

"Target sighted, destroy the Sonic Heroes" Metal Sonic said as he formed his hand and arm into a machine gun and began to fire at the Tornado, firing at it and destroying one of its wings, sending it going wildly in the air and crashing to the ground as Tails, Amy, Blaze, Big, Vector and Charmy flying into the air and into the dirt.

"We're okay!" Vector said as he gave a thumbs up and couched out dirt.

"Hey Metal head! Over here!" Sonic said, Metal turned his head back to see Sonic, Shadow and Silver running straight towards him when Metal Sonic raised his hand and formed a force field that penetrated the incoming attack and teleport in front of the three and did a triple spin dash, sending them flying into the air before flying up at them and hitting them in the chests.

"You leave my Sonic alone!" Amy shouted as she ran towards them with her Piko Piko hammer and jumped up in the air and whacked Metal Sonic in the back, the robot went sky rocketing to the ground as Blaze and Espio jumped out of the back of the Mystery Machine and preformed a double spin dash on the robot in the chest, Omega aimed his machine guns at him and fired but missed as Metal Sonic saw the incoming attack and dodged it before delivering a light speed attack and then a homing attack on the E-Series robot, Rouge began to twirl around in the air and dived at him to deliver a homing attack on Metal Sonic but to only be hit by a plasma pulse attack and then thrown into a tree.

"Chaos emeralds located" Metal said as he scanned the area, fixing his eyes on the Mystery Machine, in the front seat where Velma sat were the chaos emeralds on her lap, Metal flew over to the mystery machine and jumped onto the hood of the van and smashed the front window with his clawed hands and began to reach inside to get the emeralds.

"Hey Metal head! Heads up!" Sonic shouted as he ran towards Metal Sonic and delivered a homing attack that sent him flying into the air while Sonic did a homing attack on the robot and Metal Sonic went flying to the ground and remained motionless as everyone huddled around him, the group in the mystery machine walked out of the van and joined the others.

"Is he dead?" Daphne asked.

"Hardly, all Sonic did was punch out his main circuit board" Eggman said "he's still active, he just can't hear or see us".

"Well let's keep it that way" Fred said as everyone walked away from him, the group in the Mystery Machine got back in it and drove on, Tails started up the Tornado and flew off while Shadow, Rouge and Omega followed the group, Silver stayed behind as he looked at the fallen robot before flying off. Metal Sonic's eyes flickered on and he got up, he looked in the direction of the heroes before getting up and flying off.

"Are we there yet?"

"No".

"Are we there yet?"

"No".

"Are we there yet?"

"No".

"Are we-"

"I swear to Chaos Charmy, if you don't stop asking, I am going to hammer you into the wing of this plane!" Amy said to Charmy after he asked Vector if they were near the chaos emerald energy yet, she raised her hammer above her head and prepared to whack the bee, Charmy gave a terrified squeal and flew off the plane and into the open window of the Mystery Machine.

"Like, what's wrong Charmy?" Shaggy asked.

"Amy has her hammer!" Charmy said.

"Not again" Espio said as he face-palmed himself.

"Oh come on, her hammer can't be that bad" Jamal said.

"You have no idea what it's like" Blaze said as the Mystery Machine came to a stop and the Tornado landed, the Egg-Mobile landed next to the Tornado and Eggman jumped out of it.

"We're here" Fred said as the group walked up to a large sign that read the name of the city.

EASTERN CITY.

"Alright, let's go!" Sonic said as he prepared to run into the city when he was grabbed by the arm, looking back, he saw Tug holding onto his arm with a serious look on his face.

"Hang on Sonic, we can't just go barging in there with you guys around" Tug said "people are going to freak when they see a bunch of talking animals and a three ton robot!"

"Precisely, I am two-tons" Omega corrected him.

"Doesn't matter, you guys just can't go walking around in open daylight" Tug said.

"No offense kid, but I'm pretty sure people won't go screaming when they see us" Silver said as he walked up to Tug "people have pretty much seen us hundreds of times".

"It's no mystery that people know who we are" Rouge said as she walked past the group and into the city "the sooner we get that energy and the emeralds, the sooner I can have them".

"Oh no you don't!" Knuckles shouted as he followed after her and the two began a race to see who would get the energy.

"Let's hurry this up before those two get into another one of their usual fights" Blaze said as she jumped to the top of a building and ran off with Silver following her along the way, Cream began to flap her ears and flew up into the air and flew off.

"Wait for me Cream!" Amy said as she followed the rabbit.

"And me!" Big said as he began to chase after the two young girls, Tails started up his two tails and flew off, Sonic released himself from Tug's grip and followed his best friend into the city while everyone else got into the Mystery Machine, Fred prepared to start it up when Vector suddenly pushed him aside.

"Hey! What's the heck?" Fred asked.

"Sorry man, but I call dibs on the wheel!" Vector said as he turned the key and started up the van and pressed down on the pedal.

"Vector, wait you can't drive" Espio said, Vector's eyes widened with confusion and he looked back at the chameleon.

"I can't what?" he asked as he pressed his foot down on the pedal and the van went driving out of control, everyone screamed in terror at the crocodile's reckless driving while Shadow, Omega, Silver and Scrappy (who decided to stay outside) watched the car drive into the city.

"Well this should be fun" Silver said as he grabbed Scrappy and flew up into the air, high above the city as they looked down at it, Shadow crossed his arms and watched the two fly in the air before readying his rocket boots and skated off into the city and Omega flew after him.

"Shadow, my sensors are indicating a massive amount of dark energy within the plumbing system of the city" Omega said as he scanned the city, receiving the said reading of said energy.

"Keep an eye on it, I have a feeling that Mephiles is here" Shadow said.

The Mystery Machine continued to spiral out of control, people everywhere ran and scream in terror as they ran for dear life, unaware that Vector was the one responsible for the coming damage, the Mystery Machine finally came to a halt at the process of crashing into a lamppost. The airbags in the Mystery Machine went off and covered everyone inside, the doors to the van opened as the Mystery Inc. Team, Grim Wood girls, Calloway Cadets, Chaotix and Eggman fell out onto the ground into a puff of smoke.

"Next time, let Fred drive" Velma said as she angrily looked at the crocodile, Vector smiled sheepishly and shrugged.

"You never took driving lessons Vector, what made you think you could drive?" Espio asked.

"I don't know, I didn't want the blondie hugging all the attention!" Vector said, pointing to Fred, who now had a look of shock on his face.

"Hey! Don't be pointing fingers at me! You're the one who doesn't know how to drive!" Fred said.

"Guys please! We can't fight at a time like this!" Sibella said as she got up and brushed herself off "this Mephiles guy is looking for the energy and Metal Sonic is with him to do so".

"She's right, we need to focus" Tug said "even though I really hate to admit, she's right".

"Girl liker!" Charmy shouted playfully as he got up from the pile of people and started to laugh, receiving a glare from Tug, suddenly, the ground started to shake violently and everyone quickly got up to see the citizens of the town running and screaming again.

"What's that shaking?" Daphne asked.

"Like, I think I know where it's coming from!" Shaggy shouted in fear as he pointed in front of the group, everyone looked to see the ground opening up and an array of dark being climbing up onto the earth before finally standing before the group. The creatures created sword in each of their hands from dark matter and wielded them in front of the group.

"So, anyone have a good idea?" Jamal asked.
