The evening had ended relatively quickly, or so it seemed to Korra. She walked back to the docks with Amon and smiled at him weakly, "Thanks..."
He raised a brow at her and cocked his head to the side after realizing she couldn't see his brow, "For what?"
Korra shrugged and looked away from him, "For showing them you aren't going to hurt them… They are my family, it meant a lot to me…" Korra's hand moved down and settled lightly on her lower stomach where the curve of her belly was starting to show.
Shaking his head he leaned forward, one hand pressing against her belly as well, "Korra I'm not going to hurt you or your family. I might be the bad guy, but I'm working to redeem that.." His hand sliding up her arm to cover her eyes, his lips pressing against hers briefly as his other hand discarded his mask. The spark she had formerly felt moving through her body, somehow desire filling her again. As he pulled away her lips formed a small pout, his hand removed from her eyes as she looked into the blue eyes behind the mask.
Raising a brow she grimaced, "Are you ever going to take off your mask for good?"
Chuckling he nodded and shrugged, "Perhaps soon, Korra."
Nodding she looked at the ground and smiled at him weakly, "Goodnight Amon."
"Goodnight Korra," his words soft and fading as he moved onto the ferry boat. A few reporters were across the water watching the couple part ways, although they had no way of seeing their interactions with the darkness around them.
Korra moved into the temple and quickly went to bed, fatigue from the day finally washing over her.
A few days passed quickly, Korra would move around the temple during the day, sleeping in most mornings until she was woken up by the sounds of animals or by the children. Meelo quickly became obsessed with her stomach, as well as Ikki. Although the kids had seen their mother pregnant with Rohan they were fascinated by Korra's stomach. She assumed it was because she was like an older sister to them, as well as her being open to them touching her stomach. Amon had visited a few times, just stopping to see how she was doing, he would always rub her stomach gently, his fingers spreading across her belly and then chuckle at her.
Days continued to pass, her friends only visited when Amon clearly wasn't around and Mako seemed irritable whenever he visited, which wasn't much. Korra didn't know what to do whenever he was around, but Bolin normally was there as well and couldn't stop talking about how excited he was to be an Uncle, and how he wanted to spoil his nephew. Korra couldn't help but roll her eyes because of most people assuming she was going to have a boy.
Korra got word from her parents later that week informing her that they were going to visit. Although Korra was feeling fine with the baby the anticipation of her parents to visit made her sick to her stomach. She knew her Dad probably wasn't pleased with her condition, and her mother was more than likely concerned for her well-being. Although she had warned Amon about her father, his soft chuckles at her concern worried her more. The days that her parents were going to visit grew closer she dressed modestly in blues and greys. Her belly partially hidden although that was starting to become hard as the weeks had passed. She wasn't even halfway through her pregnancy and she was already starting to feel huge. Although Asami and the others claimed she wasn't big at all.
Korra sighed and looked to her right, she had called Amon that day and he sounded pleased that her parents would be arriving. He also said he had a surprise for them and dread filled her gut. She hoped he wouldn't do anything rude to her parents, or to her. Although her parents are from the south, her father was still very traditional.
She had on a soft knit sweater that warded the spring winds off her skin and smiled brightly when she saw her mother and father about to get off the boat. Grinning she ran over to them and hugged her mother tightly. She hadn't seen her parents in months and she missed the smells and feelings of being home.
She hugged her father tightly as well before turning to the father of her child, although her father had hugged her she felt the tension in him. His gaze locked on the masked man and scowling. "Dad…" she started, but he put up his hand first.
"You are him." Tonraq's mood clearly displeased as he crossed his arms while glaring at the other man.
Senna shook her head and moved forward, "I'm Senna, Korra's mother. You must be Amon." A small smile on her face as she hugged him gently, "welcome to the family."
"Senna.. Stop it. He hurt our daughter, got her pregnant, and we can't even see him for the man he really is? How are we to know if he is who he says he is? How are we to know he will do what is right to our daughter?" he stepped closer, although almost the same height as Amon, his muscles were intimidating.
Korra sighed softly and looked away, "Dad…" She didn't know what to say but as she watched the two men silently battle Senna moved over to her daughter.
"I am planning on doing what is right for her, but as you know your daughter I can't force her to do anything. I was hoping you would agree with me on this," Amon's voice deep although the menacing was missing. He turned to the side and motioned for Tonraq to lead the way to the temple, "I was hoping we could all look at houses tomorrow, so Korra and I could have a place to live once the child comes."
Scowling Tonraq moved to the temple ferry and crossed his arms, "Fine.. But this isn't over young man."
Korra watched the two with wide eyes and then looked at her mother in awe, "what just happened…?"
Senna couldn't help but chuckle as she looked at the group of them, "Apparently your man managed to impress your father with his first try."
