Seth POV (YAY!)

How is it fair that everyone else gets to be happy with their imprints except me?

It's all Jared's fault. See, when he found out that I imprinted on his little sister (it wasn't even my fault) he went into protective big brother mode. He's such a pansycake.

At first, he told me that I wasn't allowed to see her but that didn't work because Sam started lecturing him. It went a bit like this.

"Madi's fragile." Jared said, ignoring the snort of laughter coming from Paul, "I don't want her getting hurt."

"I won't hurt her."

"You will."

"I won't."

"Will."

"Won't.

"Will! Look, she has loudly voiced her opinion about imprinting before. Apparently it's a load of nuisance and hoo-ha, whatever that is."

"She is a nuisance—"

"Paul! Shut up! I'm trying to lecture Seth!"

Awkward.

"My point is, if she find out that one of her best friends has imprinted on her, she won't like it. It will upset her and she might never speak to you again."

"But... She has to because—"

"Now you're getting it. So, here's the deal. You can continue being best friends with Madi, carry on as normal and not say a single word to her about the imprinting. Understand?"

"I don't—"

"Understand!?"

"Fine!"

And that's how it ended. Well, it didn't properly end because Leah came in shouting at Jared about telling me what to do.

But now I'm starting to think that Jared is all talk; mainly because Madi just told me he is.

After our little adventure to First Beach to watch the stars, I took her home. I was so glad that she agreed to go with me. I also didn't mean to hold her hand but it was nice – while it lasted.

Now she's decided that she won't go to sleep yet, so I'm just sat here listening to her talk – partly because I'm too tired to say much but I also like listening to her talk, even if she is complaining about Jared staying at Kim's or her mom working the night shift.

I just listened; I could listen to her all day, if it made her happy. I'm so lucky to have her as... Can I say imprint? Or do I have to say best friend? Whatever, I'm just so lucky to have her. She may not believe it if I told her, but she's so beautiful and smart. I never get tired of looking at her. I doubt that I ever will. She's funny without being mean... Actually, she's just funny. She tends to eat a lot, but that's what I love about her – she doesn't care what other people think, if she wants to eat a whole pizza then she will. Did I mention that she's beautiful?

"Seth!"

My thoughts were interrupted by Madison herself; she was standing in front of me with a mug of coffee and pot of sleeping pills.

"If I take sleeping pills and drink really strong coffee, what do you think will happen?" Madi asked, staring into the cup.

Interesting question.

"We'll find out tomorrow—"

"But—"

"We'll get one of the guys to do it," I said, prying the coffee and sleeping pills out of her hands. I'm not sure if I actually want to find out what happens.

She huffed and sat back on her bed, crossing her arms. Did I mention that she was stubborn? Which is hilarious sometimes.

"Shall we watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?"

She also has really nice hair.

"Seth."

It's long and probably soft.

"Seth!"

She also smells nice; like, coconut and strawberry and—OW!

"Madi, what was that for!?" I asked as I rubbed my arm. She had jabbed me with a very sharp pencil.

"You weren't listening to me..." Madi trailed off innocently.

"What did you want?"

"Do you want to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?"

"Um... Madi, it's almost 2AM."

"Yeah..."

"So..."

"So..."

"It's almost 2AM."

"You said that already."

"So..."

"So... We'll watch it?"

"It's 2AM."

"Are you a clock or something!? I know the damn time, Seth! I wanna watch Willy Wonka!"

"The one with Johnny Depp?"

"No! The original."

Great. Perfect. I hate that one. The tunnel part gave me nightmares when I was three and I haven't watched it ever since. Nevertheless, Madi put it on.

On the plus side, she decided to cuddle into me because I – and I quote – am 'like a warm cuddly bear'.

She got as far as watching up to that Wonka dude singing Pure Imagination before falling asleep... On me.

This would be a great story to tell Ms Cameron and Jared in the morning.

Oh, and I just remembered I'm supposed to be on patrol. This should be fun to explain to Jacob.

.

"Seth!"

I was woken by Madi jumping on me. Well, she was jumping on the bed then landed on me.

"Wha—"

"What happened last night!?"

"You—"

"Did I get drunk!?"

"No, you—"

"Did we do stuff!?"

"We watched—"

"Oh my God... Did I go to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and sing Pure Imagination and dance with Oompa Lumpa's?"

"No..."

"I don't remember anything... Did I die? How can't I remember? Am I spending too much time with you stupid shape-shifters and turning stupid myself?"

"We watched stars, came back her, you complain about your mom and Jared for about an hour then tried to mix coffee and sleeping pills... Then you put Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on and fell asleep."

"Oh." Madi said with a shrug. "Why did you decide to sleep over?"

"I—It was an accident. I just sort of... Fell asleep."

She was quiet for a moment, which was a surprise, before grinning. "We should do it again sometime."

"What, the stars and Will—"

"No! Sleepover. By the way, I think my mom will be back in like, 10 minutes so you might want to leave," She said, pointing to the window.

"Can't I use the door?"

"No! The window seems more fun and scandalous."

Did she really just say that? Oh well, I'm not surprised. It ended up with her pushing me out of the window. I heard her mutter something about sleep and someone called Idina Menzel, whoever that is.

I was just about to walk into the woods until I walked into a wall of flesh.

Jacob.

"Um..."

"Where were you? You were supposed to be on patrol. I've told you before, you can't just sleep—wait... Why were you jumping out of Madison Cameron's window? Seth, what have you done? Oh, please don't tell me you did anything stupid. Jared will kill you when—"

"Who cares about what Jared has to say? He's all talk," I pointed out. "Besides, we were only sleeping."

"Well, sure you were only sleeping then but soon it will turn into—you missed patrol for Madison Cameron!? The second most annoying girl on the planet." Second? "You know, 'cause Leah's the first." Should've known.

"I just—She just—We just—"

"Seth... Just stop. Why don't you just tell her about the whole imprinting thing?" I opened my mouth to talk but Jacob stopped me, putting his arm over my shoulder like she was going to give me a big speech. I hope he doesn't. "Let me tell you about imprinting."

He will.

"It doesn't matter what the likes of Jared think because it's all about her."

"But Madi thinks that imprinting is loads of nuisance and hoo-ha."

"She doesn't. She told Rachel that she only says that because no one's imprinted on her and it pisses her off that she's just known as Jared's little sister."

"And you didn't think of telling me sooner!?" The pansycake.

"Rachel told me not to say anything..."

I suppose Rachel can be quite scary. She has Paul wrapped around her little finger. And Jacob, for that matter.

"Look, my point is, just tell her. What's the worse she can do?" Jacob asked, I was about to answer but he started talking again. "She probably likes you anyway. Why else would she put up with you for so long? Also, you two are the perfect match – you're both annoying and loud and annoying and—"

"I get the idea, Jacob!"

"And don't worry about Jared. He'll get over it. I did. I had to because Rachel kept tripping me over and putting dog food in everything I ate."

I sniggered.

"But, how do I tell her?"

Jacob was quiet for a moment; he looked like he was thinking. "I don't know, dude. Ask someone who knows like Paul—actually, don't ask Paul... Or Jared... I guess you could try Sam."

"Hm."

"Wait, what's that film she likes?" Why the hell did he want to know that?

"Well, I think she likes Willy Wonka and—"

"No, the one that you went to see with her the other week. It's the one based off the book—"

"Oh, The Fault in Our Stars! Yeah, it's her favourite book. She made me read it and you know what, I actually liked it. I mean, it's sad but I didn't cry... If I did, it was manly..."

"Then speak to her in a language she'll understand and quote it or something."

I guess he had a good point there. Madi would love that; she actually told me the other day that if someone ever confessed their love to her, she would want them to quote a book she likes. Maybe I should try and quote Divergent? I started reading that because Madi said it was good and some guy called Uriah reminded her of me.

"Okay!" I said cheerfully, walking back towards Madi's house only to be pulled back by Jacob. "What—"

"Her mom just got back. And dude, really? You just want to walk in and tell her that stuff over breakfast? No. It needs to be spontaneous. It needs to be for Madi."

I was starting to get annoyed... And confused. "So... Where do I tell her?"

Jacob trailed off into thought... Again. "The quarry."

"You're joking, right?" I checked.

"No." Jacob said, shaking his head. "It's quiet out there. There will be no interruptions."

"There'll be no interruptions at Starbucks and—"

"Don't take her to Starbucks!" He said, hitting my head but it felt more like a tap.

"She likes the library—"

"Go to the quarry."

"There's a nice place in the woods which—"

"Quarry."

I decided to give up. "Fine... I'll go and get her—"

"Dude! Do I have to help you with everything? Text her and- actually, I'll text her for you. You need to shower because you stink of perfume—"

"I just wanted to see what it smelt like!" I defended, holding my hands up in defence.

Jacob just stared before taking my phone, "and you need to work on what you'll say..." He said slowly, typing something on my phone.

"What are you—"

"Ssh, I'm working my magic."

I'm starting to think that this is a bad idea. I mean, Jake hardly has any positive experience with girls. Bella punched him when he kissed her and Nessie is still a little girl.

I couldn't go to Quil, because 1) he took his cousin to prom and 2) his imprint is also a child.

Paul would probably laugh.

Jared would probably kill me... Jared would kill me.

Sam would probably be busy and be like 'not now Seth, go and do you homework' and bitch and moan until I did homework. Even though he couldn't really do that now because he's not my Alpha.

Embry would run and tell Mia who would tell Madi... Scrap that, Embry would run and put it all over Facebook.

Maybe I should speak to one of the imprints? Not Mia or Kim. I would ask Rachel if she has any advice but Paul might be with her... And he'll laugh. As for Emily—

"Done!" Jacob said proudly, throwing my phone into my hands. I read the message:

Hey Madi-kins, you free tonight? Since last night was super-trooper fun I thought we could hang out tonight! I have something to tell you ;) winky face, hint hint. Okay? Sethy-kins xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"JACOB!"

But before I could yell at him he ran away.

Madi-kins!?

Super-trooper!?

Winky face!?

Hint hint!?

Sethy-kins!?

AND HOW MANY KISSES DID HE PUT?

Now she would get the wrong idea. She might even show Jared who would then tie me to a tree (he may have done that before... I annoyed him and Paul – the pansycake – suggested it).

My phone bleeped and made me jump; it was Madi. Shit, it was probably a lot of cursing.

'Okay. x', it read.

She actually agreed. Madison Cameron just agreed to basically go on a date with me... It worked. Jacob's weird text worked... I have to tell him!

.

"Jacob, Jacob, Jacob, Jacob!" I yelled, running into his house. "It worked! Madi said okay! She said she'll go out with me and—WHAT THE HELL!?"

Jacob was sat on his couch... Paul and Rachel were also there. Damn.

Immediately, Paul started laughing but soon shut up when Rachel punched him in the arm.

"Told ya it would work," Jacob said proudly. "I just kept it cool."

"Aw, you and Madi?" Rachel cooed, "That's cute. Aw, that's so adorable. I want to squeeze your little cheeks... And Madi's... I won't, but I want to. Anyway, what did Jake tell you to do?"

I told her everything that Jake told me, including the exact words of his text and she seemed speechless.

"That worked?" She asked; I just nodded. "Okay, for a start, don't take her to the quarry, that's like a murder place—"

"No it's not!"

"It is! It's quiet and no one can find you and—"

"It nice when it's quiet because there's no interruptions or annoying sisters—"

"I'm annoying? When we were little, you used to turn The Wizard of Oz off when I was watching—"

"That's because you would watch it all the time! And, you broke my favourite action man—"

"Because you pulled the head off my Barbie and—"

"Shut up!"

Rachel didn't seem impressed that it was Paul who told them to shut up.

"Want my advice?" Not really, Paul. But I guess you're going to tell me anyway. "Just do what you want. Take her to the fucking—"

"Don't swear in front of Seth!" Rachel said sharply.

"Just... Take her wherever you want. Tell her whatever you want and don't listen to Jacob when it comes to girls. Take advice from someone who knows, like me." Paul was interrupted by Rachel, who found that it was the right time to scoff at his judgement. "Or... You could just not take advice from me..."

I didn't say anything. I just sort of fidgeted awkwardly; Rachel was scary. She really did have Paul and Jacob wrapped around her little finger. Hell, she probably had all of us wrapped around her little finger because she could be so intimidating. Even Leah listened to her. Leah.

.

"Seth, where are we going?"

"Just keep walking."

"But I wanna listen to my Wicked soundtrack on YouTube and I can't because I had no signal!" She said, waving her phone in the air.

"We're almost there."

"Almost where?"

"There?"

"Where's there?"

"You'll see."

"I want to know now."

"You'll see."

"But—"

"You'll see."

I guess that she gave in because she stayed quiet as she carried on following me to the quarry.

Yeah... I decided to go there because that way, if she started screaming at me about it, no one would hear and I can avoid embarrassment.

"We're here!"

Madison glanced around the quarry, "Oh my God... Are you going to murder me!?"

"What? No—"

"Because it's a really easy place to murder someone and—"

"I'm not going to murder you."

"...Right." She said, looking calmer than she was when she thought I'd murder her. "Then why are we here?"

"Right... So... I have to tell you something and Jake said this was the best place to take you."

Madison scoffed, "You took advice from Jacob Black?"

She had a point there.

"So, I need to tell you something and you might want to murder me but please don't..." I trailed off, "IsortofmaybeimprintedonyoubutJaredwouldn'tletmetellyou."

Wow... That came out faster than I expected.

"What?" Madison asked slowly.

"I imprinted... On you..." I muttered quietly.

"Why didn't—"

"PLEASEDON'TKILLMEI'MTOOYOUNGTODIE!"

"Seth! Calm down, I'm not going to kill you. Well, I might if I don't get to listen to my Wicked playlist soon but that's not the point. Why wouldn't Jared let you tell me?"

I shrugged.

She glared.

I shrugged.

She stared curiously.

This was unbelievably awkward. You know when something is so awkward because you make it awkward and you can feel the awkward? Yeah, that's what it felt like right now.

Why do I have to make things so awkward?

"I don't know." I said, shrugging.

Only I did know, but for some reason I thought it was smart enough to say that I didn't know.

She stared.

"He said you were fragile..."

She started laughing. "Fragile, pfft."

This is more awkward than I thought because I don't really know what to say. I might let her murder me.

"Why are you deciding to tell me now?"

Crap.

I don't know how to answer.

I can't say it's because Jacob Black gave me the kick up the ass that I needed... Or that he sent the text. And I can't say that her brother scares me either.

"I might be in love with you... I'm just waiting until I'm sure enough to tell you."

"Did you just quote Divergent?"

Did I? I totally forgot to find a quote! Oh well, it seems I did it anyway and it wasn't even on purpose.

"Um... Did I? Yeah, sure, I quoted Divergent."

That must have made her happy because she squealed and jumped on me.

Then the craziest thing sort of happened.

We sort of kissed.

And by sort of, I mean we did.

I was finally kissing the beautiful Madison Cameron.

Awkwardness aside, I think I shall be taking Jacob Black's advice more often.

.

So, it happened! I was really surprised about the positive feedback I got on the pairing but I was also really happy. I still am.

I'm grinning like an idiot right now.

So, yeah! No pranks in this chapter but I hope I made up for it with Jacob Black's advice.
