Chapter 12
"Ayumi, I have news that you and your friends might like to hear."
"What is it, Dad?" The younger silverette asked as Naruto and the others were close by to listen.
"One of the Pokemon archeologists believes they've found a good place to excavate Pokemon fossils and notified your uncles and aunts of this as well as myself. This would be a good chance for you and your friends to find some fossils. You can have them restored at Cinnabar Island; it shouldn't be too far from your current location."
Ayumi grinned, "That's great, thanks Dad!"
"We should give it a try." Naruto suggested after the conversation was over. "It would be good to find a few fossils, or at least try."
"Then it's decided! Let's go, Ayumi!" Meowth declared from his spot on the Sinnoh native's shoulder, expecting his trainer to have them be teleported to the site, until the normal type remembered that Alakazam was switched out, for Sneasel of all Pokemon. "Why did you choose him?" He muttered as turned away.
"You and Sneasel work really well outside of your rivalry with each other. Besides, you know it's part of the rotational training." The silverette answered with a comforting pat. "Anyway, I don't think it'll be a long walk."
"Ayumi's right, let's get going." The blond said as the group made their way to the excavation site.
"Have you found anything, Naruto?" Ayumi asked as she moved her hair to rub the sweat off her forehead.
"Only stones, but no fossils." Naruto replied as he looked around, "The others aren't having any luck either."
The group had split up in an attempt to spread out their search for fossils, but with it being a good few hours now, no results had been found.
"You're right, but maybe Jessie and James found a good spot."
The Unova native nodded until he remembered something, "Weren't those two planning on using dynamite?"
The Sinnoh native froze before both trainers frantically gathered their things and ran to where their companions said they would be, "We've got to stop them!"
It had seemed that Ash had caught sight of this plan of the former rocket members as well and he had chased after the fuse with his Squirtle. Unfortunately, that was bad timing as Naruto and Ayumi were doing the same after yelling at Jessie and James, causing the three to collide and Pikachu to hit the last of the fuse with a not so good Thunderbolt. This resulted in the five trainers to fall underground as large boulders caved on itself; blocking their only escape.
It wasn't long before they regained consciousness and arguing ensued before Naruto yelled, "That's enough! Yelling at each other won't fix anything; we have to come up with a plan to get ourselves out of here."
Ayumi glanced at the surroundings of the cave and back up to the blocked roof, trying to figure out a plan on getting out. While she didn't have Alakazam on hand, Naruto did have Gengar, "Naruto, I just came with something!"
"What is it, Ayumi?"
"Why don't you have Gengar go through to the surface and use Psychic to get rid of the boulders?" The albino breeder suggested, "I'll have Luxio search for a good spot and have her dig us a way up using one of the walls."
"That could work. Alright, help us out, Gengar!" The whiskered blond exclaimed as the ghost/poison type phased through the boulders, and did as she was told.
Luxio was called out as well, "Lux!" She called out before leaping to avoid a Mud Shot and landing harmlessly as the electric type snarled at the attacker.
"Where did that come from?!" Ash questioned in surprise before the group stared at the source in the darkness that was glaring at them with gleaming red eyes.
What stepped out surprised them, it was a horde of prehistoric Pokemon; Omastar, Omanite, Kabuto, and Kabutops. It seemed that they were upset to have been awoken from the explosion and proceeded to chase them after Jessie and James through poke-balls at the two Kabutops.
Ash attempted to help by calling out his Charmeleon, but it decided to sleep.
Naruto pitied the trainer from Pallet, and was glad that Taiyou never went through such a phase. "I didn't expect Charmander to gain such a personality after it evolved." He shook his head before letting out his Togepi, who hopped eagerly to battle.
"I'll be nice about Ash's training methods." Ayumi muttered before she recalled Luxio to switch her out for Murkrow.
"Ayumi, lets both aim for the pairs of Kabutops and Omastar." The Unova native stated with his companion nodding.
"Togepi, Grass Knot!" Blades of grass quickly sprouted on the cave floor and tripped the ancient Pokemon. "Now, Metronome!"
"Cover with a rain of Shadow Ball!" While the little Fairy type waved his hands to hopefully get a good move, Murkrow swooped overhead the four Pokemon and continuously launched Shadow Balls at them as he flew in circles around them.
"Toki!" Togepi called out as he was ready, having Murkrow fly away, as he took a deep breath before blowing out a massive amount of swirling sharp petals.
"Wow Petal Blizzard, you always have so much luck with Metronome, Naruto." Ayumi commented at they watched the four prehistoric Pokemon fall unconscious.
"It's nice to have luck on your side sometimes." Naruto replied as they each caught a Kabutops and Omastar.
Jessie and James were holding their own against the Kabuto and Omanite, but couldn't catch them as they paused before scurrying away. Before anyone could ask, the reason soared in, knocking over Charmeleon in the process, and perching on a high elevated rock with a shriek.
The silverette shivered in fright, "An Aerodactyl, a prehistoric Pokemon that's said to aim for its enemies' throats with their serrated jaws. It's not helpful that we rudely woke it up."
The blond looked up, "Gengar's almost through, for now, run!"
No one had to be told twice as they all made a mad dash. Ash's Charmeleon tried to help, but it was soon batted away by Aerodactyl. The rock/flying type swooped and caught Naruto and Ash in its talons and flew through the boulders blocking the way with Pikachu, Charmeleon, and Togepi, latching onto the Fossil Pokemon's tail as it soared high, dropping the three Pokemon near Brock and Misty.
"Naruto!" Ayumi called out in concern before calling out her Nidoking, "Jump and get us out of here, Nidoking!"
The Drill Pokemon nodded and waited for everyone to get onto his back before putting as much strength into his legs and tail and leaping through the cave roof and landing on a clear space near Ash's friends.
"Are you alright, Ayumi?" Misty asked as the albino climbed down her Pokemon.
The Sinnoh native nodded as she kept her eyes on the Fossil Pokemon that had her friend and Ash in its clutches. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Naruto's Togepi and Ash's Charmeleon frustrated for different reasons before both lit up as they evolved into Togetic and Charizard. Now able to fly, the two Pokemon joined Gengar in the air, who was focusing on getting her trainer released as she succeeded by hitting Aerodactyl's leg with a Shadow Ball.
Luckily Togetic caught his trainer with an amazing display of strength as the fairy/flying type brought Naruto back to the ground. "Thanks Togetic, Gengar." The blond thanked as the two smiled while he noticed his silver haired companion running to him.
"Are you okay, Naruto?" Ayumi asked in concern.
"I'm okay, but Ash and Charizard aren't doing too well up against Aerodactyl."
The albino breeder nodded, "Maybe we can try to get it to fall asleep."
"That's it! Jigglypuff, come on out!" Naruto called out after realizing something.
"Jiggly!" The normal/fairy type cheered as she appeared.
"Aerodactyl over there is a little irate that it was rudely awoken, would you do the honors to sing a lullaby?"
Jigglypuff nodded happily at the chance to sing. The blond grinned before turning to Togetic, "Can you carry Jigglypuff up there?"
"Tochicu!" The Happiness Pokemon nodded with determination before he took off in the air the Jigglypuff on his back.
When they reached to a good height, Ash was safely with Charizard, "Alright, Jigglypuff! Sing!" Naruto called out, not noticing Gengar had gone into his bag to grab something.
It had gone according to plans as the Balloon Pokemon sang her lullaby, but everyone except her trainer and comrades were still awake. Jigglypuff was rather upset, but she remembered that she was singing a lullaby, they were supposed to sleep if you sang well.
As Aerodactyl came down, it was hit by a Poke-ball and and easily caught as it was swooped up by a grinning Gengar, "Gengar Gen!"
The blond blinked in surprise, he didn't expect a Pokemon to catch another Pokemon, but he really did appreciate it. "Thanks Gengar." He thanked as he accepted the Poke-ball that vanished in his hand to be transported to Iruka back home.
"Jiggly!"
"Tochicu!"
Looking over to his other Pokemon, he patted them on the head, "You were amazing as well." Taking a glance at all the sleeping people, including Ayumi, Jessie, James, and Meowth, he sweat dropped, "This may be a good time to get going. Gengar, will you help out?"
The ghost/poison type saluted as she did as she was requested while Naruto and Rhapsody sealed the hole.
A few days later
"Hey James, doesn't that boy look like you?" Naruto asked as the group had stopped in front of a sign in search of a missing boy that had the appearance that matched their lavender haired friend.
"He looks like a loser to me." James snorted as he looked away while Ayumi glanced at him with a look of concern.
"We should go check it out!" Jessie declared as she pushed the four along.
It wasn't long before the group reached the estate grounds, Naruto and Ayumi weren't interested while James was silently worried. "What's wrong, James?" The albino breeder asked.
"It's nothing."
The magenta haired trainer obviously wanted to see more as she suggested, "Let's go into the vents to see what's inside that huge mansion!"
Needless to say, the five were crammed into vents as they overheard that the owners of the estate only had their son, James, and now that they had passed away, it belonged to him.
"So this entire place is your's?!" Jessie asked in surprise.
James looked away, "I guess..."
"The butler's saying something else!" Naruto notified quietly as Jessie and Meowth quickly went back to paying attention.
While they were focused on the butler's tale of James's parents losing their strength after their son ran away, Ayumi tugged on said man's sleeve and whispered, "I think they're faking it to get you back."
"You know?!" James softly yelled in surprise as not to be heard by the others.
The Sinnoh native nodded, "Your parents used to demand my families to help, but we found out that they were pretty selfish when they only talked about themselves and some girl, so we took no action and declined their bribes. At least, that's what my dad tells me."
"Then you'll help?"
"Of course, and I'm sure the others will too. We're friends after all."
"Come on, James! All you have to do is marry a girl, and the money will be all yours!" Jessie yelled as she and Meowth tugged at the struggling man.
"I don't want to! You can't make me!"
"You can't force him if he doesn't want to." Naruto commented as he and Ayumi stood in the side. Strong trainers, they may be, but they were still only ten. They knew not to get in the way, unless they wanted to be hit by a flailing limb.
"Stop that! James's parents just passed away!" Brock yelled as Ash agreed.
"You've got to come to their funeral!"
"Never!" James yelled without a moment of hesitation earned him a glare from Jessie and Meowth.
The lavender haired man quickly went into a tale of how the boy James had died when he was a boy, only for it to fall apart when Misty commented, "James can't be gone when you're right here."
"Thanks right!" James smiled before realizing that he was caught, and tried for another round of a spout of amnesia.
"James should be able to do what he wants." Naruto commented as he got the other group's attention.
Ayumi nodded, "Yeah, and giving money to charity isn't a bad thing."
"Well we need the money," Jessie protested, "It doesn't always last forever for people like us. We'll just fake the wedding and make off with the inheritance."
The formerly wealthy man took this as a chance for escape, but was ultimately halted after he was caught in rope.
As the two groups watched the former Rocket trio-with Jessie and Meowth dressed in black to make it so they wouldn't be noticed- go into the mansion from a distance, James's parents had leapt out of their coffins before they were whisked away into a room that held the fiancee.
"She looks just like Jessie!" Naruto exclaimed quietly.
"James must have had it rough if he ran from her." Ayumi commented as she stared at Jessebelle. She had the same face, but had a southern belle accent.
"James, why don't we go to the vault and count the money you'll inherit." Jessebelle suggested as the Jessie agreed without hesitation. Following them, it was obvious that the room was more suited for torture or something.
As the Jessie lookalike and James's parent went on about James being childish for running away, and that it was time to face the music. Jessebelle cracked a whip as she declared, "Let the taming begin!"
Brock and Misty were blushing while the three younger trainers were confused at the implications. "What does she mean?" Naruto asked quietly with tilt of his head with Ayumi looking curiously at Ash's friends as well while Jessie and Meowth took it as their chance to escape.
"You don't need to know." They frantically yelled.
Not long after that, the two groups could hear James's screaming as he ran from his insane fiancee's attempts at whipping him.
The lavender haired trainer had poor luck as he got his leg caught and tripped; taking this as her chance, Jessebelle let out her Pokemon, a Vileplume, and had it launch Stun Spore throughout the room, paralyzing everyone, save its trainer who was wearing a gas mask, in the room. Calling for the butler, the Jessie lookalike ordered in a polite manner, "Would you get a large broom and sweep up this mess?"
After they were thrown out, the groups were able to recover from the paralysis, and listened to James's screaming from within the mansion.
"We have to help out James somehow." Naruto stated as he wanted to do nothing more than to help his friend in this situation.
Ayumi nodded, "Yeah, I think James is scared and forgetting that his Vulpix can beat that Vileplume."
"Trauma does that to a person, Ayumi." The talking normal type said to his trainer.
Suddenly James's Pokemon within the dog house started to scratch at the door as it bark before tackling at it to try to get out to help its master.
"What does it want?" Ash asked as Pikachu spoke and pointed at the door.
"It wants to get out the dog house." Meowth answered as though it was obvious.
Ash and Naruto understood as they went to the door, only for it to be stuck, and the others joined in the help to try to open the door.
After a strong pull from one side and a tackle from the other, the Pokemon that was in the dog house, a Growlithe, bolted out, leaving paw prints on Ash and Jessie's faces.
As James was cornered by Jessebelle, he panicked and called for his childhood friend to save him, "Growly!"
On cue, Growly leapt in front of his trainer as he growled at the source of James's distress as said man was joyed to see his friend again.
Jessebelle didn't look happy as she saw the fire type, "Oh who let you in here? Vileplume, get rid of that horrid thing."
"Run Growly!" The green eyed trainer yelled in concern, he didn't want his best friend hurt because of him. The Growlithe definitely didn't agree with the order as he took James and scampered quickly back to the others waiting at the dog house.
"Well James, that fiancee of yours is truly dispicable." Jessie commented as James was being licked by Growly.
"Told ya she's just like Jessie." Meowth commented with the former female Team Rocket member pulling at his face as the result. His trainer only sighed as she shook her head.
James went on telling that Jessebelle was the reason that he'd run away in the first place. "Marrying Jessebelle would be the worst mistake in my life. Growly was my only friend in this stuffy estate."
"I always wondered what it was like growing up in a place like this." Misty commented.
The Unova native shrugged, "It all depends on the family, but it's usually consisting of the kids not having much time with our busy parents."
The albino breeder nodded, "Along with doting or ignoring, it's two ends of the spectrum. Of course, it helps when you have someone or something that's a constant."
"Who'd a thought that being rich was such a bummer." Meowth comment to what he'd heard.
Suddenly the wall behind Jessie and Meowth caved before exploding, sending the two flying. Ayumi quickly stood up as she made a quick dash out of the dog house, "I'll go after those two, keep an eye on James, okay Naruto?" She informed Naruto as she took out Alakazam's Poke-ball to teleport to wherever they had landed.
The blond nodded, before sweat dropping at how weak James's fiancee's Vileplume was. "I guess she never took to training it."
As James was saying goodbye to Growly, the Unova native knew that both were sad about leaving after reuniting for the first time in so long. "James I think you should take Growly with you."
The lavender haired trainer stared in surprise at the younger boy, "Why would you say that?"
Naruto gave a soft smile, "I think that being free with all of your friends by your side is the best, don't you? I'm sure Growly would want to be with you more than anything."
"Really?" James turned to his Growlithe, "Do you want to come with me, Growly?" He asked, now that he wouldn't be putting his best friend in danger from being in Team Rocket anymore, maybe there would be no harm.
Growly immediately barked in joy as he tackled his friend to the ground to lick James in the face.
The blond smiled at the sight before looking up at the sky, "Why don't we go look for the others?"
James nodded with his own smile, "I know where the balloon is."
"Maybe James decided to live the high life of being rich." Meowth commented from his place on Ayumi's shoulder as the two girls were walking on the unpaved road.
"I guess you're right." Jessie replied a little sullenly.
"Jessie!"
"Hey! Ayumi!"
The two looked up to see the male trainers of their group in the hot air balloon with Naruto waving enthusiastically.
"James!"
"Naruto!" Jessie and Ayumi brightened up as the two ran to catch up with the balloon, and were pulled up by James and Naruto respectively.
"You're late, James!" The magenta haired trainer admonished in a light fashion with a small smile on her face.
"But at least we're free, right?"
"Sound's great to me, James." The two then held hands as they stared at each other with smiles on their faces.
The Sinnoh native grinned as she whispered so as not to ruin the moment, "That's so cute."
"What do you mean?" The cerulean eyed boy asked.
"It's nothing, Naruto."
Weeks later
"Listen up, this is the one day of the year, you boys have to listen to whatever we tell you to do!" Jessie announced the boys of the group as Ayumi blushed in embarrassment as she glanced away.
"I don't really want anything though."
"Nonsense, Ayumi! It's All Girl's Day, it's all about us, have some fun and leap into the sales while the guys pay for us and carry our bags!"
As Jessie pulled Ayumi along while the boys followed them, "We're in for a long day." James sighed with Naruto and Meowth joining in.
"What do think, Ayumi? This dress with these heels, gloves, and jewelry look fabulous on me, don't they?" Jessie asked Ayumi as she flipped her hair, "But of course, everything suits me."
"They sure do, Jessie." The younger girl agreed as she was dragged along and forced to try on clothes as well while the boys stood at the side, paling at the price tags of each garment.
"Can't we stop, Jessie? I hate All Girl's Day." James sighed in exhaustion as Naruto stared at the four hills of shopping bags.
"Stop complaining, you don't think I'm just shopping for myself, do you?"
"You mean you bought stuff for us?" The green eyed man asked, surprised.
"Well, Ayumi insisted since it's mostly for sale anyway, so here." The two girls passed their gifts to the boys.
"Rare mint condition bottle caps! You know everything, Jessie!" James declared in sheer happiness of being able to add to his prided collection.
"Of course, I do."
"Meowth! Is this a custom-made Meowth jacket?!" The normal typed said in surprise. The jacket was modeled similar to his trainer's, but it was obviously designed for a Pokemon, going by the hole and sleeve for his tail and hoodie just right for his ears.
"Well if you're ever cold, I thought it would help."
Naruto opened his gift and was surprised to see a device that was fairly new in Kalos, an orange Holo Caster. "How did you get a hold of this, Ayumi?"
"Well honey, she has good connections." A voice made the group turn around to see Kushina smiling happily while Minato trailed behind her with a shaky grin as he carried multiple bags.
"Mom! Dad!" The blond yelled in surprise to see his parents again.
"It's good to see you too, son." The Johto Champion said as he sighed in relief from putting down the bags to pat Naruto's head, "Your friend there, made adjustments so that we could day off today. We thought we might as well pay our amazing soon-to-be-Champion-and-Top-Coordinator a visit." Then grimacing, "Your mom definitely isn't holding back on her shopping, just like every year."
The red headed woman pouted, "Oh be quiet and be a good prince that carries everything for the princess."
"Yes dear."
Kushina grinned at Naruto, "So you have only two badges to go until the Indigo Plateau, you're doing incredible Naruto!"
"Thanks Mom, and I'll be sure to win and face the Elite Four and Champion, before starting the contests."
"You'll have to face me first, Naruto." The albino breeder stated.
The Unova native grinned, "It's on!"
Minato chuckled, "I'm glad you already have such a good friend and rival with you." He could already imagine his son and his friend in the final round and going with everything they have with determination and excitement on their faces.
The Top Coordinator beamed, "You two look so cute together!"
"What do you mean, Mom?"
"A-Ah! It's nothing, Naruto!" The older blond quickly interjected, "Come on, Kushina. We must not waste our son's time on his journey."
"Hmph. Bye, honey! Do your best and keep making us proud! We'll make sure to watch your battles and contest performances! Don't forget to ask me if you ever need costumes!" Kushina said as she waved before walking off with Minato once again carrying the heavy bags.
"Thanks Mom and Dad! See you soon!"
"Quite the reunion." Jessie commented.
"I think they're nice." James stated, a lot better than his own parents anyway.
"Thanks. They can be embarrassing, but they're the best mom and dad ever."
Ayumi nodded, "It really shows. Hey Naruto, after we register, let's go our separates ways to train for the Pokemon League on our own, and then go back to traveling together afterwards?"
Naruto thought the suggestion over, even though they already went on different locations for their training, and only showed each other their skills in battle, it would be amazing to see how they would do in a few month's time. "You've got it. I'll be waiting for you in the finals."
The silverette smirked, "I should be saying that. We'll make it an unforgettable battle."
"Agreed."
"Your tournament discussion can continue later, let's go back to shopping." Jessie stated as she pulled Ayumi along as well.
"The princess shop-athon continues." James, Meowth, and Naruto sighs.
"I don't think I'm tough enough to be a woman." The former Team Rocket member stated as he and the other boys of the group watched as Jessie and Ayumi battled over fabrics from the sidelines.
"I don't I'd survive as one." Naruto commented, "It looks like a battle field."
"It's perfect, and I have the ones that I want." The silverette sighed with triumph at her haul of dark colored fabrics with brightly colored patterns and vice versa.
"Let go of it, kid!"
"You let go!"
Ayumi turned to see Jessie and Misty fighting over a blue fabric with lighter blue floral patterns. As the two girls decided to settle the matter over a battle, everyone else from their groups ran over to see what was wrong, only for it to be taken by a larger woman.
"Attention princess festival shoppers, the main event, the Queen of the Princess Festival Contest, is about to begin in a few minutes. The prize of the contest will be a one of a kind collection of Pokemon princess dolls."
The prize was also added with a picture with a movie star, and surprise guest couple, Minato and Kushina, but what had Jessie and Misty's attention were the princess dolls, and they decided to settle the dispute with this contest.
As the contest began, the girls stood on stage beautifully dress in their kimono as the boys in the groups were amazed. Naruto glanced to the side, "Why didn't you participate too, Ayumi?"
Said breeder currently wore a hat to hide her hair, along with round sunglasses and a fake moustache, "What are you talking about? My name is Ayumu, there is no need for a guy to take part." She replied as she made her voice sound deeper.
The blond only sweat dropped before paying attention to the contest once more.
Surprisingly, the contest also included the ladies needing to be skilled battlers as well, with the contestants split into two divisions, using up to four Pokemon.
"This contest will be easy!" Jessie declared to the group, "There's no way my Pokemon will lose."
"You'll do great, Jessie!" Ayumi cheered, "You've trained them really well."
The magenta haired nodded, "Of course. That twerpette is probably going to the other twerps to borrow their Pokemon, and I'll win that doll set."
"Jessica's opponent is using a Primape, what Pokemon will Jessica use?!" The emcee declared.
Jessie scoffed at the fighting type, "A girl should have beautiful Pokemon. Show them, Gorebyss!"
"Gore~." The South Sea Pokemon called as she slithered gracefully.
"What a pretty pink Pokemon! Jessica has Pokemon from other regions, does this put her at an advantage?!"
"Take it down with Psychic!"
Gorebyss did as her trainer told her as her eyes lit blue before lifting up Primape and throwing it out of the stage, knocking it out instantly.
"Oh no, my Primape!" The trainer called out as she lost the match with her only Pokemon.
"Byss!" The water type scoffed just as her trainer did at the start of the match.
"We're going straight to the top!" Jessie declared with a smirk.
Throughout the contest, Jessie and Misty stormed their way all top being the top two in the divisions, with the final match being between the two of them.
"With this match between the winners of the eastern and western division, who will win?!" The emcee asked with Jessie yelling back.
"I'm going to be the victor! What kind of stupid question is that?!"
That match started of with it being Arbok against Pikachu.
As the poison type coiled around the electric mouse, Misty ordered, "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"
Arbok cried out in pain, but Jessie knew her first Pokemon wasn't going to lose that easily. She'll take down the Pikachu that used to cause her so much. "Mud Bomb! Point blank!"
"There's no way." To Misty's surprise, the Cobra Pokemon did as he was told and launch the mud ball with Pikachu crying out as smoke from the explosion slowly cleared to see Arbok had slithered away to see Pikachu unconscious. "Pikachu!"
"Arbok has taken down Pikachu! Is this a sign that Jessica will be queen of the Princess Festival?!"
"I won't lose yet! Go Vulpix, use Flamethrower!" The unexpected immediate order took both Jessie and Arbok by surprise and knocked the poison type out.
This became a rapid succession until they were down to their last Pokemon.
"Wigglytuff, let's win and show who the queens of this festival are!"
"Tuff!"
Just as the water type enthusiast was about to call out her Staryu, out came her Psyduck instead.
"It's a little pathetic, but a win's a win." Jessie shrugged, "Solar Beam."
As Wigglytuff became absorbing sunlight, Misty yelled at her Pokemon to do something. "Fire!" The magenta haired trainer ordered when the normal/fairy type was ready.
"Psyduck! Do something!" Misty yelled, as by luck, Psyduck gained a headache and used Confusion to send the Solar Beam back at Wigglytuff, blasting Jessie and James away as Naruto, Ayumi, and Meowth went after them.
"I lost... the dolls." Jessie said sadly as she sulked.
"Jessie." James called out.
"You may not have won the contest." Naruto added.
"But we think you deserved the prize, so we each paid to get you another one of a kind doll set." Ayumi finished as they each held out boxes to the magenta haired trainer.
Jessie took out each Pokemon doll carefully as she placed them in their proper place on the stand. The emperor and empress was a Gallade and Gardevior, the court ladies were a Florges, Lopunny, and Mawile, the musicians were an Ampharos, Medicham, Roserade, Floatzel, and Lilligant, the ministers were a Lucario and Alakazam, and the servants were Floatzel, Weavile, and Machoke. It was a breath-taking sight, even the one at the contest didn't have the full set, but her friends got this set just for her. "You're all a bunch of living dolls, you know that."
A few days later
"Thank goodness our Pokemon are strong swimmers, I don't want to end up lost at sea again." James sighed, simply overjoyed to be back on land. The group had made it to Cinnabar Island, crossing the ocean on their Pokemon's back and the younger trainers catching a Chinchou along the way.
"Let's find Blaine, he's the gym leader that specializes in fire types-except his Rhydon- in 3-on-3 matches. His gym location is in a volcano, and the path to it is at the Old Riddle Inn." Ayumi informed as she and her Nidoking stretched.
"Well we should try to find him before tourists start coming in, in about two weeks." Naruto stated as he looked through his map to find the Pokemon Center. It was why they took to swimming here, coming with tourists would've made things more difficult.
"Well I know I'll be using Kingdra, Blastoise, and Nidoking." The silverette declared.
"Umi, Gabite, and Pupitar will win." The blonde stated.
Over the long amounts of training many of the group's Pokemon had evolved while none had seen many new Pokemon to catch; Naruto and Ayumi also learned that Phantump evolved into Trevenant and Pumpkaboo evolved into Gourgeist through trading, and while the silverette loved her Pumpkaboo, she preferred a Trevenant and vice versa.
"Let's just win the badge and take a little vacation, this is a tourist island." Jessie suggested, "I want to go to the hot springs."
"Hahaha! You kids are something, being able to find me without my spotting you in my disguise first." Blaine laughed at the two foreign trainers.
The two were definitely trying to show that they weren't bothered by the heat of the volcano, but their hair sticking to their faces from sweat wasn't very convincing.
"So which one is going first?"
Naruto stepped forward, "That would be me; I'm Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze from Undella Town."
The riddle master rose an eyebrow, "So the son of the Whirlpool Queen and Stealth Striker, huh? Let's see how far the seed flew from tree. Don't get burned, kid."
The blond smirked, "This seed can take a little heat."
"Go Ninetales!"
"Pupitar, let's do our best!"
"A rock/ground type from Johto, huh? Ninetales, Confuse Ray!"
"Avoid it and charge with a Dark Bulldoze!" Pupitar did as he was told and evaded the beams of confusion before shrouding himself in Dark Pulse and charging at full strength.
Upon impact, the fire type was hit twice by both the impact of the dark and ground type attacks, and was defeated, thankfully not going out of bounds.
Blaine recalled his fallen Pokemon, he hadn't expected to be beaten that easily, even if he knew Ninetales would have a difficult time with a rock/ground type. "Stronger than I expected, kid. Rhydon, go!"
Staring at the Drill Pokemon, he called back Pupitar, "You were great, let's let the others have a turn. Go, Umi!"
The red Gyrados roared as she emerged from her Poke-ball, not showing her slight distain over the battle field, but ready to fight.
"A red Gyrados, huh? Those are pretty rare." The bald gym leader stated, knowing that the blond once again went for a type advantage.
"Umi doesn't disappoint either, show him with an Aqua Twister!"
Umi did as she was told, swinging her tail as it release what could only be best described as a cyclone from the combined attacks of Aqua Tail and Twister simultaneously merged into one as Rhydon was forced to take the full assault.
It wasn't long before the Drill Pokemon fainted and was forced to be recalled, "Figures that the kid of the Whirpool Queen and Stealth Striker would be fast and strong with a water type, but how will you far against the Pokemon that calls this volcano home? Magmar!" Blaine called out as a pillar of flames rose and bursting out was Magmar.
Naruto instantly felt the increase and heat and recalled his Pokemon, "Great job Umi, we'll go cool down later. Okay Gabite, show them your stuff!"
"Gabite Gab!"
"Magmar, Fire Blast!"
"Get away with Dig!" The Cave Pokemon did as she was told, but couldn't get herself very far from the from the depth of the hanging battle field, nearly burning her claws and having her tail hit by the flaming kanji.
Blaine smirked"Moves like that won't work here, use Skull Bash!"
Gabite was sent hurling towards the volcano wall, "Show your grace and leap back with an Aerial Ace!" She did as she was told, flipping so she stood nearly sideways on the wall before bounding back and soaring to slam into the Spitfire Pokemon.
"Gabite Gab!" The Cave Pokemon roared while she was still in the air before she glowed in a blinding white hue.
"Wow, Gabite's evolving." Ayumi muttered from the side as the three trainers watched the dragon/ground type grow larger.
"Garchomp!" The newly Pokemon roared as she now easily glided through the air.
The blond couldn't be more proud, "That's amazing, Garchomp! Let's kick up the tempo with a Sandy Dragon Claw!"
The Land Shark Pokemon followed the order without hesitation as she spun around as dust picked up to create a large sand storm, blinding Magmar and Blaine and in a blink of an eye, it was over as the storm clear to show the fire type unconscious with Garchomp standing above it with her claw lit with purple aura.
Recalling his Pokemon as he watched the victorious Pokemon fly back to her trainer with Naruto congratulating her for both evolving and winning the match, Blaine conceded, "You really are strong, Naruto. It's been a while since I've been beaten so soundly. You've earned the Volcano Badge."
"Thank you, Blaine."
Facing Ayumi, the gym leader exclaimed, "Well, how will you fare, miss? I take it that you're travelling with Naruto."
High fiving the blond as they switched places, the silverette smirked, "I'm Ayumi Devon from Jubilife City, and I'll show you why I'm Naruto's battle rival."
A while later
"I'm glad I won the match and got the Volcano badge, but I wish that my battle was as thrilling as yours, Naruto." The Sinnoh native sighed as she said loudly enough since both were on their own side of the hot springs.
The three Pokemon that Blaine had Ayumi against were relatively weaker than the ones that went Naruto, the breeder was let down by the situation, but still went all out with each Pokemon having a turn and winning with a brutal K.O.
"I'm sure we'll have a challenge back at Viridian City." Naruto said hopefully, "We can just teleport or fly back there, so we're not in much of a rush."
"More hot springs!" Rhapsody cheered, as she enjoyed the water.
The former Team Rocket trio froze at the mention of the Viridian City Gym, "Are you sure you want to go there?" James asked.
"Of course, is something wrong with that?" The albino breeder questioned, not sure why it would be an issue, the Viridian City gym and it's leader, Giovanni, were in the official records, so it wouldn't be like the young trainers were heading to a fake gym.
Meowth fidgeted, "Ya see, our old boss is the gym leader."
Both Naruto and Ayumi went wide eyed at that news, "What?"
Jessie added, "Unlike you two, we can't show our faces. No one can quit Team Rocket so easily."
"I don't even want to know what he'd do to us if he ever saw us." The lavender haired man trembled.
"I heard that the old boss had a Pokemon that he was working on, it was made by a bunch of scientist guys as a weapon. No one our rank ever saw it, so it might be a rumor."
The blond sharpened his eyes at that and stood up quickly, "That settles it, after we win our badge, we'll try to get into the gym to see that Pokemon. I can't stand for something like that to just be ignored! What do you say, Ayumi!"
The silverette did the same as she declared, "I've got you're back all the way, Naruto! Manmade or natural, I won't stand for Pokemon to be called a weapon."
Finally the sudden change from getting up sent the heat to their heads, and the younger trainers fainted.
As Jessie and James pulled their travelling trainers out the hot spring and fanned them to cool them off along with Meowth and Rhapsody helping their trainers, they sighed, "Brave and strong trainers, yet passing out from the hot springs; these two are something else."
A/N: And that's Chapter 12! Condensing the episodes was quite difficult with a majority of them being so many fillers before the gym battle, but it was worth it. As for episodes like the Pokemon entrance exam, or meeting Butch and Cassidy, were unnecessary with Naruto and the others already doing a good job with their Pokemon, so there wasn't a need for it to be added.
As for the little moment with Ayumi pretending to be a guy, that is something my best friend, AnimeKitty24, tends to do sometimes when she tries to avoid something-mostly getting to keep from getting blamed after she does something-, talk about a real life anime character.
As for the battle with Blaine, both game and anime battle with him are a little less than what was desired, so I couldn't really do much after Naruto's battle.
