Chapter 25
Rose
I held onto Mason tightly, afraid to let go and lose him, and then have to miss our only way back because I could not go back without him. He glanced up at me and smiled, his innocent little boy smile that instantly wanted to make me give him the world.
"Are we going home?" He asked me. I smiled.
"Yeah, buddy, we're going home," I said, resisting the urge to squeal. We were going home. I would get to see Killian, my Killian.
The Killian that was not my Killian was here as well, looking adorable as usual, and standing next to Aunt Emma, Bae, Aunt Regina, and a couple of other people, including the royal family. I smiled at him and then went to my father.
"Did you get the spell?" I asked him in an undertone. He raised a vial of purple liquid and gestured behind him, where there was an elaborate figure sketched in the dirt.
"Once you go through the portal I will pour it on the figure and it will activate." He explained.
"And you're positive that you will remember us when we get back?" I checked. He nodded.
"Do you have the bean?" He asked me. I stuck my hand in my pocket and made a face and his eyes widened.
"Just kidding," I assured him, pulling out the bean.
"You better go say goodbye," He said, jerking his head reluctantly towards the group. I turned around and my eyes were instantly drawn towards Killian, who was looking at me with the saddest sad face ever. It was so sad that I wanted to grab him and hold him and never let go.
You're going right back to him, I reminded him. He won't be sad then. And then you can hold him forever and ever, without ever having to let go.
But that didn't change the fact that he was still sad now.
"You're absolutely sure that you will forget until we come back?" I asked my father. He nodded and I released Mason for a moment to dart to Killian. He stared at me with his gorgeous blue eyes as I came closer and I met his gaze, searching and finding the little glimmer of my Killian, brought around by our meeting. I smiled before wrapping my arms around him and kissing him.
The best thing, well, one of the best things, about Killian was that he always made a little gasping noise at the first kiss. It drove me insane and I threaded my fingers through his hair to pull him closer. His lips were the same as always, though they were slightly more careful than usual, because he pretended to be a treacherous pirate but he really was a gentleman and he didn't want to take any inappropriate actions towards me, but his hands were sure as he put his hands on my hips and pulled me closer.
I clung to him for a second longer and then released him, pressing a kiss to his jaw before stepping away. His hands caught mine as I moved away, looking dazed and heart-broken at me.
"I'll see you later," I whispered in his ear before pulling my hand from him and going back to Mason.
"Ready?" Rumplestiltskin asked. I hugged him. He was stiff for a moment and then his arms were around me. When he let go of me I reached down and took Mason's hand. "Okay."
"See you soon," I assured my father. He smiled and I glanced back at Killian just as he was tossing the bean to the ground. Killian's face was bright, telling me he understood as he raised his hook, where his left hand would usually be. I nodded and raised my ringed finger.
His beam was the last thing I saw before I jumped into the portal, to get back to him.
I landed heavily, grabbing Mason to stop him from tumbling and looked around, sighing in relief.
We were home.
"Come on Mason," I urged, running as quickly as I could with him keeping up towards the dining room. I let go of his hand to push the heavy doors open and my family looked back at me. I beamed at them, scanning until I found the one person I needed to see.
He was halfway to me already by the time I found him.
"Killian!" I launched myself at him and he caught me, holding me tightly to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and held tightly, burying my face in his shirt. He smelled like my Killian, the one who was utterly in love with me, who I was set to marry in a few months.
He smelled like home.
"Don't ever leave, ever again love," He whispered to me. I looked up and kissed his jaw. He turned so our lips met, and it was everything that the other kiss was and everything that it also wasn't. This kiss was filled with true love, with years of affection and memories.
Someone cleared their throat and I turned around to see my father. I disentangled myself from Killian and ran to him and my mother, pulling them into a hug. My father did not hesitate to hug me back, his actions warm and familiar.
"I missed you too," I said, looking up. He kissed my head, understanding instantly that just because he was there did not mean that he was there.
I was passed around to my brothers and when I ended up back in Killian's arms he was seated at the table and I was cradled in his lap.
"I think it was worse for me." I said, running a finger over his lips.
"Why's that?" Killian asked, turning my ring around on my finger and placing a kiss on my knuckle.
"At least you always knew that I loved you," I explained. "When I was there with the past you, you didn't love me. It was terrible, to have you so close but not be able to touch you. I don't think I would be able to do that again."
"As I recall, you didn't exactly not touch me," Killian said, raising an amused eyebrow. "And as for your last worry, I wouldn't dwell on it. I'm not going anywhere, and if I ever stop loving you, than it's not me, love, so stab him."
I smiled and leaned forward, kissing him again. Usually we kept the kissing in front of my father to a minimum, but today I couldn't resist touching him, reassuring myself that he was here, holding me.
"Love you," I reminded him when we separated.
"And I love you as well," He said.
It was good to be home.
