A/N Hello fellow FF members and visitors alike, this 9tailsfox2 with Chapter 18 to Escape! We shall finally end this arc! Italics means thoughts,
Hanabi was the first to awaken warm and comfortable, a major contrast to what she had felt before Naruto held her tightly. She decided to keep her eyes closed, enjoying the warmth a bit more. Ruto-Kun is so warm. Thank Kami I'm not feeling any of those urges anymore, otherwise I would not have been able to hold myself back at this point. At this point though, I'm more than happy to snuggle. With a smile on her face, Hanabi opened her eye to see the sleeping face of her boyfriend. Hanabi lightly stoked his cheek, to which Naruto unconsciously shivered and held her even tighter. Naruto then opened his eyes and smiled. "Good morning Ruto-Kun."
Naruto held Hanabi's cheek and kissed her in response, "Morning Nabi-Chan."
Hanabi put her hand on Naruto's and sighed. "Listen, I'm really sorry about the way I have been acting on this mission, I should have had better control of myself and I should not have run off like that, I'm the whole reason we got captured like that. If only I was paying more attention, then we would not be in the middle of nowhere."
Naruto sighed. "Nabi-Chan, none of it was your fault; everybody goes through what you went through, well hormone wise. I was no better, I always used to sneak into smut stores and take a peek at the magazines." Hanabi giggled at that. Naruto smiled at that sound. "Your reaction was understandable; I was too blunt with my words. What happened was in the past and probably would have happened anyways because they were aiming for you and only you. They probably took me because they knew I had the Kyuubi and so would be a bonus to them."
Hanabi nodded in understanding and honestly felt better. "Thank you Ruto-Kun, that helped a lot actually. Thank you."
Naruto was glad that Hanabi was no longer feeling guilty about the entire situation; it would only make the situation worse if Hanabi was too busy feeling sorry for herself.
Naruto then got up and Hanabi looked at him in confusion. "What are doing?"
Naruto shook his head. "As much as I love holding you, we have to get up; the fish certainly aren't going to catch themselves."
Hanabi sighed as her stomach growled. "Alright fine, let's put our clothes back on though, it's cold."
Naruto smiled as placed Hanabi's clothes next to her. "What did you think I was planning to do? Run around naked?"
Hanabi blushed at the thought. Just because her 'urges' stopped didn't mean she didn't have fantasies about it. "I wouldn't mind."
Naruto glared at her warningly. "Hanabi…"
Hanabi shook her head. "Sorry, my mind wandered, my body is not acting up though if that's what you're wondering."
Naruto smiled. "Good. You should really get dressed Nabi-Chan."
Hanabi nodded as she began getting dressed.
Kakashi stretched as the others were finishing up their packs. "Today we go full speed until we find them. If we go fast enough we might be able to catch up."
Sasuke shook his head as he finished up packing. "The distance we have traveled is amazing. I'm still exhausted from yesterday."
Jiraiya tossed a soldier pill to Sasuke. "Here this should energize you." Jiraiya zipped up his bag and looked towards Tsunade. "Hey, Tsunade, you ready?"
Tsunade frowned as she picked up her pack. "Yeah, I am."
Jiraiya walked up to her and whispered. "Hey Tsunade what's wrong?"
Tsunade shook her head. "Nothing, just this hangover is killing me."
Jiraiya sighed. "Oh ok, but wait you weren't drinking yesterday, we were running too fast."
Tsunade sighed. "I brought some last night." Tsunade pulled out two empty bottles of sake and showed six more full bottles.
Jiraiya sighed and shook his head. "You know, sometimes you can be a handful."
Tsunade glared at Jiraiya. "A handful of what?"
Jiraiya put his hands up defensively. "Nothing."
Tsunade was about to say something when Sasuke spoke up. "Hey, pervert, drunk, you guys ready?"
Jiraiya suddenly got a fearful look on his face when Tsunade's eye twitched. Whenever that happened, a disaster is sure to follow. "Care to call me that again? Emo?"
Sasuke shook his head. "If you two weren't making out so much, then we would probably be there by now."
Tsunade dropped her bag as she launched after Sasuke, who smirked and as fast as he can lead the way. "Catch me if you can drunk!"
Tsunade growled. "I'm going to kill you!"
Jiraiya sighed as he saw what Sasuke was doing, making the group go as fast as possible by putting his life in danger, but it was a risky maneuver as now only two of four sets of eye would be on watch. He picked up Tsunade's pack and ran after the two, followed by Kakashi who could only laugh at the situation.
As Sasuke was leading the group on the trail, he kept his eye on the tracks, in case they took a turn and he knew that he would be running for a long time so before he instigated the sennin, he took a couple soldier pills from Kakashi's bag who was about ask what Sasuke needed them but that was obvious when he taunted Tsunade. I really hope Dobe and Hanabi-Chan are ok, I would hate for anything to happen to them.
After Naruto stoked the fire from breakfast, which was filling and quite tasty, Hanabi got up and walked right next to him and they both sat down on a log. Hanabi looked at Naruto. "So, now what do we do Ruto-Kun?"
Naruto sighed. "We survive until somebody finds us. We should probably set up traps with what weapons we have."
Hanabi nodded in agreement. "Ok but first, we have to see what equipment we have."
Naruto nodded as he placed all his weapons on the ground, where Hanabi's was when she placed hers on the ground. Naruto looked at all the traps. "Hmmm from these we can place and camouflage a paper bomb on a tree for every 1-10 meters, depending on how big or small we want the radius of our protection to be. I'd suggest 3 meters apart, as it would be a tight circle, but they would also be far enough so we can react."
Hanabi shook her head. "I thought paper bombs were activated by chakra, we certainly can't use ours."
Naruto shook his head. "These are trap paper bombs so if anyone with a substantial amount of chakra gets within a certain distance once set, which can be done be chakra or blood, it will explode."
Hanabi nodded. "Under those paper bombs we should set tripwire, camouflaged of course. I'd say launch five weapons per trap, that way; we have enough to set a substantial amount of other traps ranging from alarm to explosive."
Naruto smirked. "We should leave ourselves a few weapons and we should practice our taijutsu and kenjutsu after everything is set."
Hanabi nodded. "Thank Kami I had the brains to adjust my taijutsu style, because the original jyuuken would have no effect, while my adjusted style also physically damages the opponent externally and internally, even without chakra."
Naruto sighed as he got up. "Alright, let's get to work."
It took all the way to lunch to set all the traps ups and they left repellents within the traps, which could only be smelled by animals so the traps would not accidently go off. After they hunted and ate their lunch, they began their tactics planning and used them in situations and after that they generally sparred all the way up to dinner, which they fished again. Hanabi sat down with her fish with her fish, almost exhausted. "Holy crap, without chakra everything was harder, especially climbing the trees."
Naruto nodded in agreement when he sat next to her. "Well, we would be all the stronger. If we do get raided by enemies, conserve your weapons, you never know when we may need them."
Hanabi tore at her fish and chewed then swallowed. "I know that. You know, when we get back home, this should be a great training method ninjas should never rely on their chakra alone."
Naruto smiled as he noticed something. "You are no longer scared of being stranded."
Hanabi looked up at Naruto as she took another bite. "Well, the way we have been keeping busy and now that we have set up our camp and routine, which includes training, I feel more confident now. Even if enemies do find us, we will be able to fend them off, even if we are at a severe disadvantage. Oh yeah, we should check the traps tomorrow morning, to see if they were set off and probably place more repellent on them. It will help with our balancing and chakraless tree climbing skills."
Naruto could only nod as he moved onto his second fish. "Well, do you want to snuggle tonight? You know, when we sleep?"
Hanabi smiled as she drank her water after finishing her dinner. "Why is that even a question?"
Naruto finished off the last of his fish with water and sat back as he was full. "I don't even know." Naruto pulled Hanabi on his lap as she laid her head on his shoulder and one hand on his cheek, and the other on his chest. "But I do know that I love you Nabi-Chan."
Hanabi giggled at that. "I love you too Ruto-Kun." With that the two kissed each other.
They pulled apart and stared at each other in the eyes for a moment as they held each other. The moment was interrupted when one of their paper bombs went off and they got up into their fighting stances. "Show yourselves!"
A kumo ninja dropped down and laughed. "What do we have here, a little hyuuga girl and leaf's jinchuuriki. All alone and lost in the woods."
Another Kumo ninja jumped down. "From what I can tell, they were slapped with chakra seals as they escaped from the other group. Kana, why don't you come down, you can finally have you revenge."
A Kumo kunoich jumped down and she saw the body hidden in the bushes and she looked pissed. "You killed my son you bastards! That's him over there!
Hanabi began tearing up as she realized that the mother of the man she killed last was standing 10 meters in front of her. "I-I'm sorry, b-but I-I had to."
Kana narrowed her eyes at Hanabi. "How my son could be killed by such a brat! You little bitch! I'm going to kill you!"
Naruto got in front of her as Hanabi tried to hold her tears back. "No crying now Nabi-Chan, we have enemies to deal with. Fight now, cry later, ok?"
Naruto said that with contagious confidence, and Hanabi caught that on as she moved next to Naruto. "Listen, we did that defend ourselves. We have family back at home too and how do you think they would feel if they discovered their children missing?"
Kana shook her head. "To be honest, I did not know what kind of missions he went on, he said they were top secret but they would benefit the village greatly, if I knew that his missions included kidnapping children, I would never have let him go. But the fact that you killed him means that I will kill you now!"
Naruto grunted. "Enough talking! Let's go!"
Sasuke popped a soldier pill and looked down and noticed that he had four left. Sasuke looked up and saw four ninjas and two carriages with wheels eerily similar to the path. He diverted from the path. "Ninjas, up ahead!"
Tsunade, who was still trying to tackle Sasuke snapped her attention back to her surroundings and ducked behind the bushes. Jiraiya smirked as he and Kakashi did the same. Jiraiya did his swamp jutsu to trap the group in a swamp.
The four approached the group who were struggling to get out. "Tell us where Naruto and Hanabi are."
One of the men looked around as he was seeking deeper and gave up. "We were expecting the two children ever since we got their report two days ago, but they never arrived so we checked the path they should have took and came upon 5 of the 6 bodies dead. We expected that the guy chased them, but they were successful in killing him. We think that they might be lost so we sent three of our team to track them down. They went that way." The man pointed towards the side of the road Naruto and Hanabi escaped into
Jiraiya smirked and let them sink and drown in the swamp as he lead the group to track down the three ninjas, which were simple as the left behind tracks, there was no need to erase them, they weren't expecting enemy ninja to attack them from behind.
Sasuke sighed as he worried about his team mates.
It was a few minutes before Kakashi smelled something terrible. "Stop! There might be a trap here!" Kakashi was about to inspect the trap when he the sound of battle. "Forget the trap; there is a battle up ahead! Sasuke, soldier pill!"
"Soldier pill?"
"Soldier pill."
"Soldier pill!"
(Yeah I just did that)
Sasuke then tossed his team mates all the soldier pills he had and they took them and prepared for battle.
Naruto and Hanabi were exhausted, without their chakra they were unable to do their ninjutsu, while they were able to keep up with taijutsu the keeping up was making them exhausted. Though they managed greatly damage their opponents, one had a broken arm, another had a sprained wrist, and the last one they expected that she had a loose jaw, judging from how she was pronouncing her words and wincing from talking. But their exhaustion put them to an end and they were only holding up with sheer luck as they were dodging ninjutsu.
Naruto and Hanabi hid behind a tree. "Ruto-Kun, I'm tired, I can barely stand anymore."
Naruto shook his head. "Me too, but we have to continue fighting."
The tree was knocked down as lightning cut above their heads. "We got you, you fucking brats!"
"Or do we have you?"
Naruto and Hanabi looked at each other. "Nabi-Chan, did you say that? I certainly didn't."
Hanabi shook her head. "No, if we didn't say it then who did?"
"Turn around." The voice sounded oddly familiar as they turned around and saw their team for the mission and even Tsunade. All the ninja were dead at their feet. Sasuke tackled the two in a hug. "Thank Kami you guys are ok!"
Naruto laughed as he struggled to get out of Sasuke's tight grip. "Geez Sasuke, lighten the hold will you? We're injured here."
Hanabi couldn't agree more as Sasuke let go. "Sorry about that, I just don't what I would have done if I lost you guys. You two are my only friends."
Hanabi shook her head. "No, Kakashi is your friend as well as Jiraiya, and even Tsunade now… right?"
Tsunade grumbled. "Fine yeah whatever."
Sasuke smiled and turned towards his team mates. "Are you two ok? I was really worried about you guys."
Naruto and Hanabi nodded. "Yeah, we're fine, let's just get the hell out of here now. We'll tell you how Ruto-Kun and I got caught, escaped and survived when we get back home."
It was a few days before they arrived in Tazuna Town and they took a rest at the inn, where Kakashi finally removed those blasted seals, before taking the two day trip back home, along with Shizune and Tsunade of course. Most of the trip was done in silence and contemplation as to what has happened in the past two weeks.
When the sight of their gates appeared Naruto and Hanabi were relieved to be back home, eager to shower and rest. Kakashi decided to let his team rest for tonight. If Danzo thought he was going to keep his team, then he was wrong. He had a little nasty surprise waiting for him, he even talked about it with Tsunade and Jiraiya and they both agreed it was a good idea. He just needed to get one more thing cleared out. "Naruto, Hanabi, Sasuke, before you three go through those gates, I am appointed as your sensei during the mission, so as your sensei, I'm concerned about you well beings and will give you a two day break, on the condition that we meet up at Ichiraku's for dinner tomorrow night, let's say around six and after that, we shall report to the Hokage about our mission, then the next day, you can do whatever the hell you two want, and I can guarantee you, that bastard Danzo won't be your sensei much longer after that meeting."
The three faces lit up in delight as they thanked Kakashi and went off to their houses. They would play together, except that they need showers and rest. That night after their showers and dinner, Naruto and Hanabi got into the bed for a much needed rest. Hanabi snuggled up to Naruto and shook her head.
Naruto looked at Hanabi and was concerned. "Nabi-Chan, what's wrong?"
Hanabi sighed. "I know ninjas are supposed to kill and everything, I even managed to accept the kills I have made, but when I met the mother of the person I killed, it was the worst possible feeling, like for example imagine if you met the parents or children of the person you killed. No matter the circumstances, how would you feel?"
Naruto sighed. "To be honest, that was what all I imagined the entire trip back. When I saw your face when you realized that was the mother of the person you killed, I thought how would I feel if I met the parents of one of my kills? When I closed my eyes and imagined it, it was a terrible feeling, and the actual event happening must be worse."
Hanabi hugged her knees. "Are ninjas supposed to feel like this when they kill? I knew that they killed other people and I never gave it much thought until I actually did kill. Are we supposed to be emotionless killing machines? If so, I don't think I want to become a ninja anymore."
Naruto held Hanabi to him. "Hey listen, I won't sway your decisions in any way, but you do have the option not to kill, you could become a medic ninja. You did say you wanted to earn medical ninjutsu."
Hanabi smiled. "Yeah, I think that's what I'll do, save people's lives instead of taking them."
Naruto kissed Hanabi, happy that Hanabi has finally found out what she really wanted to do with her life; unfortunately it took killing others to find out what it was. Naruto and Hanabi held each other tightly, happy to finally be back home in their soft warm bed and simply in each other's arms without having to be alert to their surroundings. They can finally truly relax and sleep in for the first time in two weeks. They said their 'I love you's and fell asleep into sweet dreams of happiness, knowing only each other's warmth and bodies and of course each other's happiness and love.
A/N Great chapter! I really don't have much of a self review, but I shall try. Ummmm I tried to make the fighting as realistic as possible without dragging it out. (As you can guess, I'm not of an action writer, but I when I do, I go for realism) Time skipping is really not my thing if you haven't noticed as transitions break my flow (which is usually 1 day/chapter but I have been breaking that lately though...) which pretty much takes out some of the quality in my work, though I think I managed to handle it a bit better this time round.
Ummmm yeah, I'm tired as shit right now need my sleep. Oh yeah, I put up Memories of the Past, a new fic of mine and if you have not checked it out yet, please do so because I don't think you guys have yet.
Like always R&R and this is 9tailsfox2 signing off!
