A/N Hello fellow FF Members and Visitors alike! This is 9tailsfox2 with Chapter 23 to Escape! I am really excited to be back on this fic! It feels so good to be back on my first and ongoing fic! Holy shit it's been a while since I've written Chapter 22... How long ago was it? Two months? Well half of that time was because my room was getting painted... had not time to sit down and write anything. The other half was that I was posting new fics .I'm sorry for taking so long, but no use crying over missed time. Like I promised early on in my ventures here on FF that I will finish off my fics with the exception of death, coma or lack of access to technology! :)

Anyways, I have a POLL up. This poll has nothing to do with my writing. All it is asking is whether you, my fans are going to Connecticon, as I will be working there! ;)

With this Chapter, I have reached the 100,000 word in one fic mark! It still is ongoing and not going to end anytime soon! This is a very exciting occasion for me, because 100,000 words is a lot of words. I will want to continue writing this fic and really I want to see 200,00 words by the time this fic is over!

Italics means thoughts and bold italics means Sasuke's dark thoughts. I hope you all enjoy the long awaited Chapter 23! ;)

Naruto woke up to his alarm and groggily turned it off as he got ready for the day. To be honest, he was excited about seeing Hanabi and he was sure Hanabi felt the same way about him. At the same time though, he knew he couldn't approach her as for every second he thought about her, his forehead tingled, reminding him of the accursed seal that the Third Hokage had placed upon him. Tears once again dripped down his face as he looked at his Instant Ramen and decided that for once he was not hungry and yet he knew he had to eat, otherwise he would regret it.

Naruto grabbed a cup and all of a sudden he was struck by memories of Hanabi and he laughing as a multitude of bowls of Ramen slowly stacked themselves as their stay continued. It wasn't just one memory though there were many memories that flooded him, some of them before the relationship started. Dammit! Naruto grit his teeth as he threw the Instant Ramen in the trash and brought the can next to his Ramen cabinet and brushed all of them into the bag. For some odd reason he thought Ramen would be a comfort food as always when he was upset, but now, it reminded him of nothing more than what he once had.

Naruto felt tears streak his face as all of a sudden everything he saw in his apartment, he just saw Hanabi's face. What the hell is wrong with me!? Throughout the entire, week, the separation never affected me like this! But now that I have seen her again after the stupid seal, I was reminded of what I lost, especially while we held hands… Naruto quickly showered and changed and got out of his apartment ASAP.

He really had no idea where he was going until he looked up and saw that he had stopped in front of Ichiraku's. Naruto really did not want to go in there but considering that he had a half hour before the Second Chuunin Exams started, he had no choice as he walked in. Naruto was happily greeted by the Ramen duo at the same time. "Hey Naruto-Kun, how are you doing!?"

Naruto slowly nodded. "Fine…"

Teuchi frowned. "Hmmm, you don't sound fine…"

Naruto stared darkly at the old man in front of him as he couldn't help but feel a bit irritated. "Can I just place my order?"

Ayame was confused at Naruto's odd behavior. "Naruto-Kun, what happened?"

Naruto shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I thought you were supposed to serve the customer and not bombard them with questions OF THEIR PERSONAL LIFE!"

Ayame was shocked at the way Naruto just broke out. Teuchi, for the first time was speechless.

Naruto shook his head again and sighed in frustration. "I'm sorry Aya-Chan, it's just some stuff I'm going through right now… I really don't want to talk about it… I hope you're feeling better by the way."

Ayame nodded. "Apology accepted." There was nothing else she could say.

Teuchi released his breath. "It's ok, we all have our days so, what would you like? Your usual?"

Naruto was about to answer with a yes and once again struck by the memory of Hanabi having her first bowl of Ramen. "Tch… No… No thank you. If you could make some lo mein, I would appreciate it… Please don't ask questions…"

Teuchi and Ayame were stunned, but quickly shook it off as they quietly and quickly began making Naruto's order. Teuchi sighed. "What is up with Naruto-Kun today? It looks like he's on edge."

Ayame shook her head. "I don't know, maybe it's the Chuunin Exams, I heard that it was brutal."

Teuchi shook his head. "Naruto is more headstrong than that. I think it has to do something with Hanabi-Chan."

Ayame frowned at that. "Maybe the separation is finally getting to him?"

Teuchi thought about it for a moment. "No, they were just together yesterday, they were trying to slowly build back up."

Ayame smiled. "So they are getting back together." The smile dropped when a thought crossed her mind. "Maybe they had another fight?"

Teuchi shook his head. "No, I really doubt it. Maybe there is something more to this than we think. Something just doesn't add up. They both were in such distressed states before but now that I think about it, their stories don't exactly add up, they are too new of a relationship to get in a fight so big and they seem so good for each other, so it wasn't compatibility issues… Yeah, something is going on, my gut is telling me something is terribly wrong."

Ayame stared at her father. "Maybe we should ask him about it."

Teuchi sighed. "No, just serve him his food and we'll let him go."

Ayame nodded as she finished up the lo mein and put it into a bowl. "Fine, but I'm really worried about him. I think he has finally cracked."

Teuchi took the bowl and started making his way to his customer. "No, not yet, but I think he is cracking now."

Naruto was lost in thought when he was snapped back to attention when the bowl was set down. "Here you go Naruto. Enjoy."

Naruto slowly nodded as he took the chop sticks. "Itadikimatsu…" With that he began eating.

The father and daughter duo then sat down looking outside hoping for more customers, not liking the mood Naruto was giving off.

Naruto was halfway through his lo mein when his eyes drifted off to the seat next to him and in his mind all he could hear was Hanabi's laughter. The happiest and sweetest sound now taunted him as it tortuously echoed through his mind. Every second felt eternal as he felt frustration and rage course through his body and yet at the same time, he felt tears so close to breaking. "Dammit…"

Ayame heard Naruto utter under his breath and looked at him and noticed the look on his face. She couldn't describe it, but yet she knew who ever crossed him would never be the same again afterwards. "Naruto-Kun are you ok?"

Naruto grit his teeth as he felt the rage build more and more until he could no longer contain it anymore. "Dammit. Dammit! Dammit!Dammit!Dammit! KAMI FUCKING DAMMIT!" With that, he swept the bowl off the counter, sending it to the ground, breaking into hundreds of pieces and sending noodles everywhere.

Teuchi and Ayame were stunned as Naruto looked at the mess and put his payment for the food, bowl and some extra as apology and quickly left after quickly saying "Sorry."

Naruto was on the verge of a breakdown but knew that he had all but ten minutes left to get to Training Field 44. Nabi-Chan… I want to hold you so much… I love you… Dammit!

Hanabi groaned as her eyes slowly opened up. She tried to get up but was suddenly shot by a feeling of being cold. She wrapped her blanket around herself as tight as possible, but it really did not help. It was then that she realized that the cold was not coming from the air but from within herself, the cold of being alone. Hanabi fought back her tears as she got ready for the day. Ruto-Kun…

As Hanabi was slowly eating her cereal, depressing thoughts about Naruto entered her mind and she dipped her head down as she stopped eating. Why… Why am I not hungry? I know I'm sad, but for some reason, I don't want to eat…

Sayama walked into the kitchen and noticed the state of her ex-charge. "Hanabi-Chan, are you ok?"

Hanabi was snapped out of her thoughts as Sayama talked to her. "Yeah, I'm fine… I'm just not hungry today…"

Sayama smiled. "Hmmm, how about eating a Banana?"

Hanabi shook her head. "I told you, I'm not hungry."

This really got Sayama concerned about the girl. I have seen Hanabi eat an entire bunch of Bananas, after eating 10 bowls of Ramen. So I know it's not that she's full… "Hey, Hanabi-Chan. How are you feeling?"

Hanabi shook her head as she sadly sighed and made her way to the door. "Fine, I'm feeling fine. Besides, if I don't go now, I'll be late."

Sayama nodded and gave up. "Alright, I'll let it go for now, only because you are about to be late. Please take care!"

Hanabi nodded to that. "I will." With that Sayama left the room and Hanabi went to leave the house, but she bumped into someone. "Sorry, I wasn't looking." Then she looked up and saw Neji. "Get the hell away from me!"

Neji smirked as she grabbed Hanabi to stop her from getting out. "You're going to the second part of the Exams? Why even bother when four years from now this," Neji pointed her crotch. Hanabi tried to escape from his grip was unable to. "Will be mine."

Hanabi, who was red-faced, tried to kick Neji in the balls, but was blocked. "Nuh uh ah, you wouldn't want to damage what you will be enjoying for the rest of your life."

Hanabi was about to scream for Sayama when her mouth was covered. "Calling for help won't do now. You are mine."

Hanabi was thinking about killing him off, so she wouldn't have to deal with this. This bastard! He's not going to do this!

Neji then slid her pants down as Hanabi was about to perform her Chakra Hari no Jutsu when Sayama walked in on the scene. Needlessly to say she immediate got between Hanabi and Neji only to proceed put Neji in a choking grasp. "I'll give you one warning! If you ever touch Hanabi-Chan again! I! Will! Kill! You!"

Neji was let go and Hanabi quickly pulled her pants up and he only smirked. "Why protect her like that? You know and she knows it's going to happen in four years. I was just… speeding up the process. Besides, she hasn't been fucked yet. I want to be her first and only. I go hard for her."

Hanabi began feeling scared. So he doesn't know that Ruto-Kun and I had sex. I wonder how upset he'll be when he finds out. Maybe I'll finally fall out of his interest. But then again, it's not exactly the best idea to go parading that I did lose my virginity… I am only eight years old… soooo yeah. "So you only want me because I'm a virgin?"

Neji smirked. "One of the reasons. The other is that you are so... young."

Sayama was really pissed. "Neji you have three seconds to get the hell out."

Hanabi shook her head. "I'll never let you touch my body! I will kill you before you do!"

Neji only laughed. "Why are you trying to avoid the fate you are meant to have? You can't escape it no one can escape their fate!"

Sayama angrily sighed as she punched Neji in the face and gave him a one-way ticket to Training Field 44. "THREE!" With that she turned to Hanabi and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You ok? Did he hurt you?"

Hanabi nodded her head. "Yeah, I am and no he didn't. Thanks for the concern, but I really need to get going to the Exams before I'm late… Thanks."

Sayama smiled. "Alright I'll let you go, and be careful."

Hanabi gave out a small smile. "Don't worry I will." With that Hanabi walked out the house. Ugh, I know I shouldn't be bothered by it, but Neji's last statement about no one being able to escape their fate… its true isn't it? What happens is always meant to happen. As of right now, he can kick my ass, so that means in four years he will… Hanabi shuddered at what went through her mind. And what's to stop him from doing it before then? Hanabi was close to breaking down as her thoughts continued that track as she made her way to The Forest of Death.

Sasuke had the worst nightmare ever. The visions of his parents and his clan being slaughtered over and over again, it put him on edge. Dammit! Why? Why is this happening to me now!? Because, I want to kill my brother! No I don't! "Please! Kami! Stop these thoughts!" Sasuke fought his mind as he got ready for the day. Soon, I will run off to kill him, to avenge my Clan! But I have friends here… Friends will only hinder my progress. Kami Dammit! I hate you! Not as much as my brother though.

Sasuke wanted to get away from this so he put all of his energy into answering riddles from a scroll as he ran to the location of the Second Exams.

Sasuke was the first to arrive. Looking around, noticing that none of his team was here he decided to sit down to continue his riddle reading. Tall I am young, short I am old, breeze my strength, Kami's breath my weakness. What am I?

Sasuke was interrupted when Naruto arrived. "Hey Sasuke, how are you doing?"

Sasuke looked and sighed. Should I tell him? I could do what I want. It won't matter because I will hunt down my brother after these stupid Exams. Sasuke shook his head. "I'm not feeling too good today." Sasuke was hoping Naruto wouldn't press.

Naruto frowned and sat down. "I'm not doing so well either. I wasn't hungry at all." Naruto looked up and saw Hanabi approach the two and he could immediately tell something happened.

It took Hanabi one look at Naruto to make her breakdown… almost. She couldn't afford to. "H-Hi Naruto."

As much Naruto was happy at seeing Hanabi again, he was pissed at the same time. Why was he so irritated, so angry just at the mere sight of Hanabi? He loved her a lot, but there was this underlying pent up frustration that was gnawing away at him. "Hanabi…"

Naruto tried to hide it, but the obvious anger leaked into his voice, so much so that everyone noticed it. Hanabi was surprised and shocked. Why? Why isn't he looking at me? Why is he so angry? Oh Kami! Does he hate me? After all we've been through? After all the times he held me? I refuse to believe it! "N-Naruto… Why were you so harsh with your voice?"

Naruto grit his teeth as Hanabi's angelic voice with the hint of sadness echo in his mind. Instead of calming him down or even making him go comfort him, it had the effect of making him even madder. "Shut up."

To say that Sasuke was shocked was an understatement. What the hell did Dobe say to Hanabi?

Hanabi blinked once. Twice. What? I didn't hear right. That must be right. I'll have to ask. "N-Naruto, wh-what did you say?" Hanabi couldn't keep her voice from cracking.

Naruto yelled out in frustration. "Shut up shut up shut up. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Naruto fell to the ground and began hitting it as tear began to fall. "Why the hell am I so angry!?"

Hanabi was speechless. He hates me now… What happened? Hanabi clutched her chest as with every time her heartbeat, it felt like it was being torn apart. With a lump in her throat, she ran off, crying real hard. No! He can't hate me! He just can't! He's the last person that would! No… Hanabi collapsed under her wobbly legs and curled into a ball and began sobbing. She didn't care who was watching (In this case no one was around) or even where she was. She didn't care. Her one true love spurned her, abandoned her in her time of need. Ruto-Kun, no Naruto… I hate you so much.

Naruto was brought out of his thoughts when he heard his love's painful cries pierce his ears. Nabi-Chan, did I make you cry?

Sasuke punched Naruto in the face. "What the hell man!? Couldn't you tell she was upset!?"

Naruto shook his head. "I'm sorry, I need to fix this right now. For some reason, I was on edge."

Sasuke shook his head. "She doesn't want to see you!"

Naruto narrowed his eyes as he concentrated real hard to send a half assed chakra needle in the back of Sasuke's neck. It didn't knock him out, but it made it so he couldn't move for a minute.

Hanabi couldn't stop her tears from flowing when she felt a familiar hand on her shoulder. "GET AWAY FROM ME!"

Naruto didn't care about the stupid seal as he held his team mate and of course it activated. Naruto redirected the chakra path Hanabi's seal to his own so Hanabi didn't have to feel anything. "Nabi-Chan. I'm sorry for telling you shut up. It was just… I was on edge and I was really irritated. Everywhere I looked, I was reminded of how we were together and it pissed me off that we couldn't be together. I guess that translated into my anger for you."

Hanabi tried to escape Naruto's embrace but couldn't as she turned and let her tears cascade on his shirt. "N-Neji tr-tried to… tried to!"

Naruto desperately tried to stop the electricity from running through Hanabi and take control of his own body to rub her back. "It's ok, let it out. I love you so much Nabi-Chan, I love you so much." With that he kissed her

Hanabi tightened her grip onto Naruto. Dammit! He shunned me then he's apologizing and now he's comforting? I hate Neji and I love Ruto-Kun. Hanabi smiled at that thought and sniffled. "I love you too Ruto-Kun." With that she was about to kiss Naruto, but when she opened her eyes, she then saw the pain Naruto was in. Oh Kami! How did I forget about the seals! He was taking my seal and his own! Hanabi decided to quickly peck his lips then immediately separate from him. "I'm so sorry Ru- I mean Naruto! I just forgot about the seal, I was just so upset, I thought you didn't… you know… anymore, I thought-"

Hanabi was interrupted by Naruto, who was still twitching from the long shock he took for both of them. "It's alright. I wanted to prove to you that I did. I would hate to have you hate me for that. I'm so sorry for yelling at you and telling you to shut up in front of everybody."

Hanabi smiled. "It's alright, I understand. I woke up in a bad mood thinking about you as well."

Naruto nodded. "As for Neji, did he go through with it?"

Hanabi shook her head. "I was about to use Chakra Hari when he pulled my pants down, but Sayama interrupted and punched him right in the face, sending him far away. But before that happened, he said to me and I quote, 'Why are you trying to avoid the fate you are meant to have? You can't escape it no one can escape their fate!'."

Naruto saw that the statement got to the love of his life. As much as he wanted to hold Hanabi, he didn't think he would be able to hold off the electricity from Hanabi. It wasn't a question of pain, he would lose a limb for her. No it was a question of how long can he hold it. It took way too much concentration to do it for long. "It's ok Nabi-Chan, four years is a long time. I'm sure that by then, you will be so much stronger than Neji. Besides, you are the strongest and most beautiful girl in the world. Nothing can change that."

Hanabi smiled. "Thank you Naruto, I needed that. I really, really did."

Naruto scratched the back of his head. "Always for you Hanabi, you know that I lo-" Naruto immediately stopped himself. "So-Sorry, it's just these stupid se- I mean these stupid things. It's messing with our lives! I just want to be with…"

Hanabi sadly sighed. "Me?"

Naruto nodded. "Yes."

Hanabi frowned. "It's alright I hate them too! They are stopping us from being… I hate that so much! Well, we'll figure it out later right now we have the Exams to go to."

Naruto smiled and held out his hands, despite the seal's warnings. "Together forever?"

Hanabi smiled as well when she took Naruto's hand. "Together forever."

With that, they walked off to where everyone else was to get ready for the Exams to begin, while holding hands, despite the seal being dangerously close to activating.

Sasuke looked up and saw his two teammates walking to him, holding hands. With a sigh of relief he smiled. Well at least they managed to resolve that before the Chuunin Exams begun, otherwise we would have been able to enter. Plus, I would have had to wait before going to kill off my brother.Sasuke was really fed up with his thoughts trying to pull him into the path of an avenger. He was not an avenger, he would stay with his friends, right unto and beyond Shinigami's door mat. Which he imagined that 'Welcome' was spelled with bones. Well I can't go there until my brother is there. Sasuke sucked in his cheeks as he dived back into his distraction.

Hanabi and Naruto arrived with smiles on their as they sat down next to their teammate. "Hey Teme."

Sasuke looked up and smiled. "Hey Dobe, I see that you fixed things with your girlfriend over there."

Hanabi nodded. "Yeah, it's just that both of us were in bad moods. I was sad and he was angry. But we talked it over and made up."

All of a sudden he felt a presence behind him. "Having fun with your girlfriend?"

Hanabi and Sasuke narrowed their eyes and went to attack the enemy but they were quickly dropped.

Hanabi growled as she got up but was suppressed by killing intent. "Naruto!"

Sasuke growled as he couldn't even get up. "Dobe!"

Naruto turned around to see who it was but was suddenly held with a Kunai to his throat. "It's a good thing you two fought now instead of in the forest. You do know bad teamwork equals death right? They do seem to care greatly though."

Naruto couldn't help but think the creepy voice sounding familiar. "Y-Yeah."

The owner of the voice then sliced Naruto's cheek. "As a ninja, you need to keep on guard at all times."

With that Naruto was pushed to the ground. Naruto looked up at his assailant and realized that the person covered him or herself from head to toe. "Who the hell are you!?"

The stranger laughed. "You really want to know? Well then I'll tell you!" With that the person ripped everything and revealed herself to be none other than Anko, the proctor. "Let this serve as a lesson to all you maggots! Keep your guard up and you might make it past Chuunin, or at the very least The Chuunin Exams."

Naruto along with everyone else there face faulted. Naruto shook his head as Hanabi went over to hold his hand to comfort Naruto. "You ok? I was so scared. I thought that bitch was going to kill you."

Anko laughed. "Alright little girl! I don't know how they let an eight year old into these exams but let's get one thing straight. Tears won't solve anything! You have to be strong and fight through life with all you got! There is a time and place for tears, but now is not the time! For today you walk straight that into that forest and fight with all you got!"

Despite the fact that Anko literally held a knife to her boyfriend's throat just a few seconds ago, she felt invigorated, motivated to push through and do what it takes to pass. With a smile and a fist pump she exclaimed, "Yes ma'am!"

With that Anko smiled. "Good! Now… time to explain these Exams." Anko Shunshined from her spot to in front of her gate. "Alright! First things first! You will all need to sign a waiver form. This will basically mean that anything that happens to you in the forest, it is not my fault! Though I will have to clean up any corpses and and that is a pain in the ass! So please do me a favor keep your fights clean, if you can help it! Second of all, when you do sign, each team will each get a special rock! The purpose of the rock is to collect it from the other teams. The top 7 teams with the most rocks will move on to the next part of the Exam. Oh yeah one more thing, don't even try to duplicate it, physically or visually, we'll know. Alright I want all of you to line up at these desks. The number that is on your rock is the gate number you go to. After counting off the teams that signed, the Test will begin!"

Naruto smirked as Hanabi was just done bandaging Naruto up. "Thanks Hanabi!"

Hanabi smiled. "No problem! Oh! If that bitch ever tries to hurt you again, I will make her realize that I am one Kunoichi not to be fucked with."

Naruto groaned. "Language Hanabi, language… Geez I swear to Kami, you are getting worse with your mouth lately."

Hanabi hung her head. "Sorry."

Naruto pat Hanabi on her head. "It's alright, it's just I don't want you to turn into a sailor."

Hanabi nodded. "Alright, alright I get it."

Sasuke interjected at this point. "Friendly banter is good and all, but unless if we get in line, we'll not be able to take this exam."

Naruto nodded with a smile. "Alright! Let's go and get a rock!"

Hanabi walked right next to Naruto and smirked as well. "Yeah!"

With that Team 7 got in line and when they signed their papers the three got a rock with a glowing '27' written upon it.

Naruto made sure that it was obvious that he had the rock by saying really loudly, "Thanks for the rock! I'll make sure to keep it in my jacket pocket!" After that, he secretly handed the rock off to Hanabi and whispered into her ear. "Make sure notices you have the rock. They all think I have the rock."

Neji laughed as he saw Naruto put away the rock into his jacket. "That idiot. How did he even pass the Gennin Exams?"

Rock Lee shook his head. "I wouldn't underestimate the youthfulness of our opponents, no matter who they are." I saw Naruto hand the rock off to Hanabi, so much for Neji Byakugan. While I would normally share this information with my team, I don't want to know what Neji would do to Hanabi if he got his hands on her. Lee shook his head as the image of Neji forcing himself on his cousin shook him to the core. Either that, he'll probably kill her, either way I want to avoid Team 7 at all costs, if possible.

Tenten sighed. "Can you shut up about your youthfulness?"

Lee shook his head. "No Tenten! The air is filled with youth! It would be a shame if nobody was enjoying it!"

Lee wasn't the only one spotted Naruto's hand off. The two other people that spotted this were Kabuto and Gaara. Kabuto smirked. Nice one Naruto, even now, you try to down play your intelligence. It will be interesting at how other teams will be going after them.

Gaara was watching Naruto intensely. Yes mother, I'll kill. I'll feed you his blood, as is your command!

The rest of the teams were as of the same thought. 'Go after the kid with the orange jacket, he'll be easy!'

Hanabi nodded her head and then just realized something as they got in front of their gates. "Naruto, remind me to kill you if we survive this, because after that little stunt you pulled, everybody will be after us."

Naruto laughed. "That's where clones come in. They will underestimate us and attack first then the real us will drop on them, if we're lucky we'll get them in seconds flat!."

Sasuke nodded. "It's still risky, but the underestimation will bring the battles to our favor."

Naruto nodded as well. "Yeah, I agree. Dobe, Hanabi, you two ready?"

Sasuke smirked. "What do you take me for? Of course I'm ready!"

Hanabi laughed. "As ready as I'll ever be, in fact I'm excited."

The other two agreed with the eight year old, they were excited, but at the same time scared. Scared of what the forest may bring.

Anko smirked as she counted all the papers. 20 teams… interesting… With anticipation building at its peak and everyone at their gates, Anko used a jutsu so everyone can hear her voice. "Alright, listen up maggots! A few things before we start! You all have five days, that's 120 hours to reach the middle. If you don't you are disqualified. Second all three members of a team must be present to present the rocks as a present to proceed otherwise you are disqualified! This means if one person dies or is incapacitated until the fifth day, then consider yourselves disqualified! Like I said, the top 7 teams with the most rocks will move on, and any ties, then the ones who got to the middle fastest wins. Ready, set…" Anko threw her arm down at this point and the gates opened at that signal. "Let the Second Chuunin Exams begin!"

A/N Amazing chapter I think, but not the Chapter you all were expecting. TBH, I didn't expect Chapter 23 to go this way either. I thought I would be jumping straight into the Second Exams, but it would be nice to have some tension before the exams, though I decided to resolve it before the Exams began.
