I know it has been forever since i have updated this story sorry is all i can say. Life has just gotten hectic with my classes covering most of the day and not much time left after to finish homework let alone story chapters

So I hope you all enjoy this long overdue chapter

Ultimate Combo Chapter 4

-Gourmet Training Trip!-

When we last saw our Heroes Komatsu had began to recreate the tantalizingly delicious Century Soup! At the beginning he actually had little success in doing so but Darkness quickly came to help and using Komatsu's memory of how the soup tasted to aid him in deciding what ingredients to use.

While this was going on Toriko was going through the painful process of regrowing his arm that had been destroyed during the fight with Tommyrod.

Back with Komatsu after months with no success and on the border of giving up Darkness has the idea of getting a third opinion and with that Komastu goes and visits Setsuno.

Setsuno reveals some rather shocking news that The Heaveny kings are actually weakening themselves by creating animosities with the manifestations of their gourmet cells. Komatsu then promised that as soon as the soup was complete he would help them overcome their arrogance.

Setsuno is then shocked at the amount of progress Komastu has made and inspires new hope in the boy by reminding him that it is not the chef that chooses the ingredients but the ingredients that choose the chef.

Komatsu revived from him depression quickly returned to the kitchen and in matter of a few more months Komatsu had achieved a soup to match Setsuno's version.

Komatsu only one ingredient away from total completion immediately set out to find the final ingredient and the search was long and hard but after a lot of struggle, perseverance and a loving pink Wall Penguin. Komatsu managed to finish the Century Soup!

Finally after gathering his friends and the others that where with them in ice hell they enjoyed a feast of the soup and Toriko decided that he wanted to add the Century Soup to his full course menu.

Now let's get to it shall we?

As we find our heroes now we find them on a plane piloted by the ever handy Tom heading towards the First Biotope also known as Regal Island!

"Oi Komatsu are you sure it's ok for you to leave the hotel so suddenly?" asked Toriko as he looked out the window of the plane to see the island that was their destination was not far off.

Komatsu responded "Sure I took some vacation time so I could do this."

Toriko looked at his partner and asked "But what about your kitchen?"

Komatsu smiled and said "Well while I was thinking about it Setsuno-san gave me a shock by saying she would volunteer her time there until I came back so long as I did something she asked me to do."

Toriko blinked surprised and said "What did you have to do to get that to happen?"

Komatsu said "I'll tell you later" waving off Toriko's question as he thought back to what he promised

(Flashback)

Komatsu was happy very happy Toriko had decided to include the soup he cooked into his full course menu.

Right now he was seeing his friends off as they began to leave each with their own goodbyes until it was just him and Setsuno left.

Setsuno gave her little giggle laugh as she said "Well I guess I must be going Komatsu-kun"

Komatsu smiled and bowed before saying "Thank you so much for all the help you have given me Setsuno-san"

Setsuno waved off the gratitude and said "Your welcome but it was not me that helped you but the ingredients that spoke to you and lead you down the correct path"

Komatsu gave a small smile and said "That maybe true but you are the one that told me to listen to them and what they had to say so for that I thank you and ask that should you ever need me for anything I will help you."

Setsuno responded "Well then I hope it's not to early for that task then."

Komatsu tilted his head to the side slightly and asked "What do you mean?"

Setsuno continued "Well do you remember what I said when you came to my shop to ask my opinion?"

Komatsu thought for a second before he said "About Toriko and the other Heavenly kings and their gourmet cells?"

Setsuno nodded and said "Yes, Now what I want for you to do is to take them on a training trip to Regal Island because you also need to learn to control your powers and the coliseum will let you gain experience with all sorts of different creatures but your other goal is to teach them how to at least have a semi good relationship with their gourmet cells ok?"

Komatsu blinked a couple of times before he smiled largely and told her "I promise you I will do my best!"

Setsuno smiled and said as she left "That is all I can ask."

(Flashback end)

(Back on the plane)

Toriko shrugged and said "Ok then but you need to say why soon alright?"

Komatsu nodded but turned his head when a voice said "I must admit I am curious why did you want us here as well?"

Komatsu turned and saw Coco and Sunny two more of the Heavenly Kings sitting directly across from him and Toriko.

Coco then took his chance to speak by saying "Yes I also question the reason as to why we have gathered."

Komatsu answered their question by saying "Well I guess I can say part of what Setsuno-san wanted me to do"

This caught the kings attention as they motioned for him to continue

Komatsu did so by saying "Well Setsuno-san said that I needed to train to learn and control my abilities that Darkness gave me and she suggested Regal Island because of the Coliseum which apparently was rebuilt rather fast."

Coco and Toriko nodded to this but Sunny seemed confused if the blank expression on his face was anything to go by and asked "Wait have I missed something what does Komatsu mean abilities and who is Darkness?"

The others stared at him for a minute and then turned to look at each other and asked each other at the same time "You didn't tell him?"

Sunny's eyebrow twitched and yelled "Would you just tell me!"

They all turned to him and said "Ok" to which he sweatdropped

(Timeskip to after explaination)

"WHAT!" Exclaimed Sunny shocked at the apparent turn of events

The others watched as Sunny freaked out for a few minutes before shouting "So Komatsu ate a Gourmet Jellyfish and gained control over Shadows and Darkness!?"

Toriko said "Yup."

Sunny continued by saying/shouting "He then proceeded to completely devastate two easily capture level Seventy creature!"

Coco answered by saying "From what I was informed that was actually Darkness."

Sunny then finished by screaming "Oh yes let's not forget Darkness who is the manifestation of Komatsu's gourmet cells and they apparently have a working relationship somehow!"

Komatsu finished by saying "That's right and Darkness says you might want to calm down your hair is standing on end."

Darkness was right since Sunny's long hair was actually standing so straight it was poking holes in the plane, nothing dangerous though.

"GAHHH!" screamed Sunny as he retracted his long locks from the surrounding area

Sunny quickly composed himself before saying "So this entire trip is for you to train, that still fails to explain why we are here."

Komatsu scratched his cheek and said "Sorry Setsuno-san forbid me from saying why until you guys where to come with me until we were on the island."

Toriko said "Ok Komatsu we will trust you with this but the second we land we need to know"

Komatsu nodded with a scared smile and said " Alright Toriko"

(half an hour or so later)

Komatsu was the last to step off of the plane since he wanted to say his thanks to Tom

Komatsu shook Toms hand and said "Thank you for the ride"

Tom responded saying "No problem Komastu is there anything else you need?"

Komatsu nodded and whispered to Tom "Before I start talking to Toriko and the others I need you to get as far away from here as possible"

Tom confused asked"Why?"

Komatsu's bangs shadowed his eyes as he said with a nervous chuckle "Let's just say I am not about to do something that would be considered safe for my health"

Tom sweat dropped at this action and said "Ok just let me unload all the luggage and then I will get going"

Toriko rounded the corner carrying everyone's baggage and said "Already got it Tom and whats the rush?"

Tom smiled nervously and said "Sorry can't stay big shipment of ingredients just came in I have to go now"

With that said he turned and boarded his plane and started the engine while calling "I will see you all later and good luck Komatsu!"

That said Tom took off in his plane as fast as he could and before long he vanished in a blink of an eye.

The heavenly kings were confused so they turned to the chef of the group and Coco asked "Komatsu what did he mean by good luck I could understand him wishing you luck on training by the way he said it and the electromagnetic waves he was giving off as he left suggest something is a miss."

Toriko took the opportunity ask "Ya man what's going on?" Sunny simply stood there waiting for an answer.

Komatsu took an involuntary step back as he said "Well remember that I said Setsuno-San made me promise her something right?"

The Kings nodded affirming that they did indeed remember this.

Komatsu gave a very scared smile and said "Well she also asked me to, umm what she said was, I mean what she wants me to do is..."

The kings screamed exasperated "Spit it out Komatsu!"

Komatsu eeped and said quickly, so fast infact it was a blur to their ears "She said to get you to work together with your gourmet cells!"

With that said Komatsu ran as far and fast as he could while the Heavenly Kings were still deciphering what he said.

As he ran he heard the simultaneous shouts of "What!" And then the trampling of the ground.

Komatsu looked over his shoulder only to see the quickly approaching dust cloud made by the three kings who held unreadable expressions on their faces.

Komatsu began to cry as he ran all the while praying "Someone save me!"

Darkness answered him saying "Deity we may not be but we can help, so jump in your shadow and let us take the wheel!"

Komatsu shouted out loud "Ok it's all yours get us to Chief Manson's office!" That said komatsu with Darkness help jumped and landed in his shadow before it went speeding away at twice the speed komatsu was previously running.

Toriko suddenly achieved a burst of speed and went flying past the other two kings before making a large jump and covering a great distance and ended up flying directly above Komatsu's shadow and called "Kugi Punch!"

He quickly descended doing an impressive impersonation of a meteor and after a second he impacted the ground one second to late and created a crater by upturning the earth.

Toriko got out of his self-made crater and looked around only to find nothing around him. Toriko cursed under his breath as the other kings arrived.

Sunny asked "Didn't get him?"

Toriko shook his head before kneeling to the ground and sniffing it. He stood a moment later and said with a grin "Follow me" the other two nodded and human bloodhound.

-Chief Mansam's office-

Mansam was having a pretty damn good day if he had to say so himself. The reconstruction of the coliseum had gone swimmingly and the research division had made some new improvements.

But what made this day happy for him is a certain pink haired national treasure had told him something rather interesting and now he was just waiting for his guests

"Speak of the devils" said Mansam with a grin

As he said this a shadow slithered from under his door and kept going until it was under his desk at which point Komatsu rose out of it with tears flowing down his fear stricken face and he mumbled in between his tears "Please save me!"

Mansam wasn't able to respond before his door was blasted off its hinges and the three heavenly kings walked through the door looking uncharacteristically pissed and for Toriko to say "He is here"

Mansam took the moment of silence to speak and ask "Well hello there Toriko, Coco, and Sunny too my why are all of you here?"

Toriko snarled and said "Don't give us that crap, you know very well why we are here; even though we were only just informed when we arrived."

Mansam just grinned and said "Did you call me handsome?"

Toriko glared and screamed "No I did not you bald old coot!"

Mansam's grin never left his face but the air around him suddenly took a sharp turn as a golden aura began to form around him as he said "Now Toriko you should know better than to raise your voice to me like that so calm down!"

Toriko and the other kings began to sweat under the intense pressure that pushed away any rage the three held a moment ago.

The aura began to recede at this point and Mansam nodded and said "Oi Komatsu it's safe to come out now."

A timid voice asked "Are you sure?"

Mansam, never taking his eyes of the kings who were now sitting on his couch, replied "Ya I'm sure"

Komatsu slowly lifted his head high enough to peer over the top of the desk and see the other occupants in the room staring at him

Toriko sighed and said calmly "Komatsu come on out already I promise we won't hurt you"

Komatsu cautiously walked out from behind the desk and asked "Then why did you attack me?!"

Toriko replied "Because you ran away from use without giving us an explanation"

Komatsu screamed "You used your Kugi Punch and almost crushed me!"

Toriko waved that off and said "Na if I wanted to crush you I would have done it the second we figured out what you said."

Komatsu cried "Then why do you all look so pissed off!"

All of their eyes twitched at that statement as Toriko explained "Using each of our own ways of searching for you lead us all over the island literally you have been running for an hour just to get somewhere that should of taken ten minutes at most and then we had to follow that path, which ended up with us having to knock out a number of escaped creatures from when the coliseum was destroyed during our last visit, so ya we are reasonably ticked off."

Toriko the looked at Mansam "By the way all those beasts are outside waiting to be picked up"

Mansam smiled and said "Thanks for that those animals have been all over the place causing enough trouble."

Toriko nodded and turned to look at Komatsu and say "Now back to business, so Komatsu care to explain about what you said earlier?"

Komatsu who had managed to calm down a large amount said "Well Setsuno-san explained to me that because you all created some form of animosities with your, let's say other selves for lack of a better word, and because of this you are weakening yourselves"

Komatsu took a breath before continuing "She said that right now you are limiting yourself to about a third of what your full strength should be."

The three kings never shifted a single muscle as Komatsu explained

Finally after a minute of silence Toriko said "Prove it"

Komatsu's intelligent response was "Huh?"

Sunny continued "Yes if we are weakening ourselves the prove to us that being chummy with our, as you put it, other selves will increase our strength."

Komatsu asked "How?"

Coco finished "We will be on this island for the next three months so for the next two you will train your way and we our way. At the end of those two months you will fight all of us in a competition of our choosing and should you win even one out of the three or if we decide otherwise. What ever time is left will be used for you to help us create some kind of truce with them."

Komatsu nodded and said "Ok I accept your terms"

Komatsu began to walk away only to be stopped by Toriko's voice asking "where are you going?"

Komatsu tilted his head slightly to look at them and said "I only have two months so I'm going to train, later."

(A few minutes later)

Komatsu was currently walking down the hall of the research department discussing how and what to train over the next two months with darkness.

Komatsu thought "So how are we going to go about this?"

Darkness said "Not sure though all we think it best to start with you learning to manipulate shadows yourself so find somewhere with a lot of shadows or a cave and then we work on techniques after you master that."

Komatsu nodded in agreement and continued to walk while looking for somewhere to begin after a few more minutes of walking Komatsu had made it outside and began to search for somewhere like what Darkness had described.

A while later Komatsu was annoyed because apparently this entire island was nothing but flat land except for the areas he was not permitted in.

Komatsu sighed and rubbed his temples in an attempt to get rid of his headache.

"Looks like your having some trouble there." Said a voice from behind Komatsu

Komatsu turned to see chief Mansam standing there, So Komatsu said in a deject voice "Hello Mansam-San"

Mansam smiled and asked "Did you call me Handsome?!"

Komatsu sighed and said "No, no I did not."

Mansam frowned and asked "Is there anything I can help with?"

Komatsu looked at him and said " unless you can find me somewhere dark and I mean pitch black would be preferable then no"

Mansam smirked at Komatsu sand said "I know just the place."

This news made Komatsu's head shot up and stare at Mansam for a minute before he smiled and said "Lead the way"

(Not long later)

-Gourmet Coliseum-

"Here we go!" shouted the happy Mansam with a grin

Komatsu stared at the coliseum and said after a moment "While this place is great for battles and what not I don't think it helps my current situation and need for dark..."

Mansam smirked and said "That can be easily fixed" as he said this he began to walk towards the wall and simply flicked the light switch off and making the entire area completely pitch black except for the light coming from the door.

He then heard Mansam say "There you go have fun" and with that Mansam closed the door leaving him alone.

Komatsu stared at where he saw the door closed and then sweat dropped thinking "Well that was ominous as all hell"

Komatsu sighed and then said "Well Darkness we may as well get started."

Darkness agreed and said "I agree now sit down and we will get started."

Komatsu did as commanded and sat down on the ground in the middle of the coliseum. He sat Indian style with his legs crossed.

Darkness continued to coach by saying "Good, Now concentrate on the dark around you feel it's cold embrace"

Komatsu closed his eyes and took a breath and began to focus on the area around him.

Darkness noticed this and quickly intervened saying "No don't focus on your surroundings focus on the dark"

Komatsu questioned "And how do I do that?"

Darkness said "Same as you just where only think about the dark instead of what's in it"

Komatsu's eye twitched and said "That doesn't really help but I'll try."

Komatsu again began to focus but he found himself focusing on the area around him again in order to correct this he began to try and stop by shifting his attention by thinking of dark things like a cave, a ravine, the depths of space and even a black hole. The darker the object the more he focused on the pitch blackness surrounding him.

The final image that entered his head was of a black pit that seemed to be made of shadows that were darker then pitch blackness around it. With that image something seemed to click in Komatsu's mind.

Komatsu opened his eyes and looked around him at the blackness around him not expecting anything but was surprised when he did see something.

Komatsu's eyes were wide when he asked "What is this?"

Komatsu turned around when a voice answered "It is our strength"

(A month later)

"So your curious as to how he's progressing?" asked Mansam with honest curiosity as he looked at the three before him

Toriko said "Well ya even though we will be fighting or challenging him in someway he is still our friend and we do want to know how's he doing."

Mansam crossed his arms and nodded at what Toriko had said before he himself stated "Very well but I think you will be very surprised" with that he began to walk out of his office and made a come on motion with his hand.

The three kings blinked in confusion at what Mansam had said but shrugged and followed behind him.

As they walked down the hallway Sunny asked "So where are we going anyway?"

Mansam smirked and said "The Coliseum where else would you gain battle experience here?"

The three kings were honestly shocked as Coco asked worried "Are you sure that is the best idea i mean this is Komatsu shouldn't you be worried about him?"

Mansam's smirk never stopped as he said "Coco I think you should be worrying about who he fights instead of what fights him."

The Kings didn't know what to say so they followed behind Mansam asking more questions though he kept silent for the rest of the walk.

- Gourmet Coliseum-

Mansam grinned as they approached the Coliseums door and said "Well let's see who he's fighting today"

Mansam then opened the door only for a large majority of the coliseum to be ptich black all except for the small circle of light in the middle of the arena

The problem with that was down in the arena a fairly low, but still deadly to average humans, capture level beast could be seen it was the

Troll Kong

Mammal beast

Capture level-9

Anatomy- The Troll Kong is a giant four-armed species of gorilla. Their fur is a shade of forest green, while their exposed skin and face are a pale red/dull pink color. They have large and buff muscular bodies but their most unique trait is their four arms which are considerably powerful. All of the Troll Kongs within "The Garden" were shown to have multiple scars from fighting with each other, probably to prove themselves dominant over their fellow Kongs. Some Troll Kongs also have unique hairstyles, such as mohawks, buzzcuts or wavy straight hair to likely show off their individuality.

The Troll Kong completely ignored the new comers in favor of staring at the dark shadows in front of it with fear evident on it's face.

Toriko turned and asked "So he's fighting beasts of this level already? I got to say that's a surprise."

Mansam smirked a vicious smirk and said "Are you serious Toriko?" getting the kings attention he continued "Do you not see the expression on that Troll Kongs face that's not the face of someone who is about to fight it's the face of someone who's about to get slaughtered"

The three kings were about to ask what he meant but were shut up when a massive amount of killer intent or intimidation blew though the air.

The kings turned towards the arena to see the source of this power.

As they watched the Troll Kong prepare to defend itself. The shadows warped in front of the troll kong forming a tunnel in the darkness the troll kong appeared terrified to the three kings.

Piercing reddish yellow eyes could be seen staring at the Troll kong finally a distorted voice rang out "Dinner time"

With that said seven black tentacles shot out of the shadows and ensnared the troll kong by restraining it's four arm, two legs and the final tentacle wrapped around its neck.

The Troll Kong thrashed about in an attempt to escape it's binds but it stopped as it saw a hand raise out of the tunnel of shadows and in one swift motion the hand balled into a fist.

The hand controlled the tentacles as the one around the beasts neck suddenly forced the Troll Kong's head to spin unleashing a horrible snapping sound as the tell tale sign that it broke the creatures neck.

The hand descended back into the shadows as the tentacles released the now dead troll kong dropping it to the ground, they also backed off.

Then a sigh was heard as the shadows all over the area began to disappear. Finally Komatsu could be seen walking out of the remaining shadows and towards the beasts body.

Komatsu looked at the Troll Kong's body, that was now right next to him, and said "Damn Darkness want to tone it down a bit?"

All of a sudden two tentacles burst from his shoulders and reformed into two serpent heads with the same yellow eyes that gave off a red glow, and extremely long teeth that contorted into happy grins and said in unison "Nope now we would like our prize"

Komatsu sighed and said "Fine go for it but leave some to cook later I would like to eat some myself since I can't taste trough you"

Darkness nodded their heads and said "Done" with that the two serpentine appendages shot towards the Troll Kong's chest as they flew they grew to about half the size of the beasts arm.

They impacted the chest of the ape puncturing it with their teeth and ripping a hole in its chest. Finally the serpents pulled out the large as a chair heart of the beast and proceeded to devour it by tearing it to pieces until only a chunk the size of a human head remained. By the end the two shadow snakes had satisfied grins.

A tentacle grew from the serpents body and grabbed the remaining heart before handing it to Komatsu.

Komatsu took the remaining heart and said "Ok now grab the Kong's body and bring it with us we have to cook for everyone on the island" The tentacles reformed and grabbed the remains before lifting them and following Komatsu out of the gate in the arena.

Mansam looked at Toriko and his fellow kings reading the levels of shock on them was hilarious for him. Sadly all good things must come to an end and he said "So what do you think?"

Coco being the first to snap out of his shock due to his control over his emotions ask the simple question "How?"

Mansam raised a hand as if to say wait. He then walked over to Toriko and Sunny and grabbed their heads, before they could react he slammed their heads into each other and dropped them to the ground ignoring their angry shouting.

Mansam then looked at the three and said "Questions?"

Coco began by asking "How did Komatsu gain that much control over his power so fast?"

Mansam replied "Unlike you three he wasn't wasting time trying to figure out what his power was, Darkness told him and on top of that with Darkness's help he was able to learn basic control over his ability in a single day." Mansam stressed that last point trying to convey its importance.

Sunny was next and asked "Why did he exhibit all that bloodlust?"

Mansam continued to explain by saying "That was actually something we found out on day two. Komatsu fought a level 2 beast but didn't have the heart to hurt or kill the beast, so in order to correct this Darkness took over to protect Komatsu and killed the thing. So since then Darkness took over while fighting but they have been lowering the amount of influence Darkness exhibits so as to condition or desensitize Komatsu to killing."

Sunny nodded at this assessment as did Toriko and Coco understanding what he meant. Finally Toriko asked "Why did he show particular interest in the Troll Kong's heart?"

This question got Sunny and Coco's attention as well as that was a rather random question but as it peaked their interest.

Mansam thought for a second on how to explain and finally said "Because their compatible"

The kings blinked at the answer and motioned for him to continue.

Mansam sighed and said "What I mean is that the heart is completely compatible with Komatsu's Gourmet Cells."

The others nodded as Sunny said "Though not beautiful in any way, It is possible but why is a Troll Kong's heart of all things compatible?"

Mansam got their attention by saying "A Troll Kong's heart isn't what he is compatible with.

Toriko then said "But you just said that it's heart was compatible."

Mansam shook his head and finished "I did but it's not a Troll Kong's heart." he waited for a moment to make sure that he had their attention, when he was sure he dropped the bomb and said "It's the heart and blood period."

Sunny and Toriko looked confused but Coco seemed shocked so Mansam said "I see you understand Coco"

Coco just stared at him as if he was still trying to process what he had heard. Toriko grew tired of this and asked "Oi Coco, what did he say that got you so surprised?"

Coco turned to Toriko and asked back "Toriko do you seriously not understand what he is saying"

Toriko said quickly "Not in the least"

Coco sighed and explained "What he is saying is that regardless of what species of animal Komatsu has eaten so far, the heart and blood of that beast has been compatible with his gourmet cells!"

Toriko and Sunny finally understood what he said and grew shocked as well until Sunny asked "How many has he eaten and what was the highest capture level?"

Mansam smirk a devilish smirk and said "Over the course of this month Komatsu has eaten at least one heart for every meal, meaning he has fought one beast before every meal, and the highest capture level was the level 30 Heavycliff or more accurately five of them at once."

Again they were astonished and Mansam asked "So tell me what capture level were you guys just barley able to do after a month?"

They all remained silent as the fact of the matter was they were only able to take on at most a level 15 capture beast after a month of training and that was with at least two of them working together. That meant Komatsu had double if not triple the power and ability they had at that time.

Mansam smiled with twisted glee at the down trotted expression on the kings face knowing exactly what they were thinking.

The smile never left his face as Mansam turned and said "Well I'll see you guys at dinner looks like we will be having Troll Kong, also you might want to read Komatsu's message" with that he walked through the door and out of sight.

The Kings blinked in confusion at the last bit looked around until their eyes landed on the arena and they saw written in the Troll Kong's blood "Hope you enjoyed the show"

The Kings looked at each other and thought together "Well Shit, this is going to be interesting..."
