Chapter 05: Assisting a Threat

"I am able to assist you with this problem of yours," spoke Yoruichi as her eyes dropped to stare at the miko on the ground holding her mother.

For a minute, Kagome only stared back. She was uncertain if she could accept a stranger's help, but her mother was wounded. She could not be selfish in her inner feelings. Feeling her tears dry, Kagome opened her mouth slightly to give her answer but found herself staring at a red haori.

"I-Inuyasha…," she whispered.

"Who are you?" he growled.

Yoruichi raised an eyebrow at the rude question. Rukia's attention glided over to stare at the ex-Shinigami captain. Her eyes narrowed with suspicion: "What are you doing here, Yoruichi? Or more over…how did you find us?"

"Let's just say I felt like something was not right," she replied.

"I asked you a damn question," glared Inuyasha, hating the treatment. "All of you! Who the hell are you!?"

"Inuyasha," Miroku placed his hand on the hanyou's shoulder, "please calm down. That is not the way to get answers right now. What is important is to get Kagome's mother healed as soon as possible."

"The monk is right," Yoruichi crossed her arms. "It is best to inspect those wounds of hers before they get worse."

"How…are you all able to see us?" questioned Renji, bringing the question that Rukia and Ichigo barely seemed to have noticed. "There is just no way humans are able to see us unless you are like Ichigo."

Kagome's eyes shifted to stare at the orange head who had remained quiet.

"We can all get our answers later, but first the healing of an innocent comes first," turning around, Yoruichi lead the way, knowing very well all were going to follow. Inuyasha scoffed annoyed at the lack of responses he was getting. The trust was thin with these strangers but at the moment, he figured it was not important. He turned around and knelt down. His back faced Kagome as he looked ahead seeing the Shinigami walk.

"I'll carry her," he whispered.

Kagome nodded slowly: "Thank you…"

Walking straight ahead and with avoiding the citizens, Yoruichi stood in front of Kagome's shrine steps. Kagome looked ahead: "My…home?"

"I believe you can heal your mother here with your miko abilities," the cat woman replied as her eyes remained above.

"Uh…yeah…," Kagome walked past her and took a step up but quickly halted. She looked behind her shoulder: "How…do you know I am a miko?"

Yoruichi remained unmoved with expression and remained silent to her question. She crossed her arms once again: "Your mother needs attention."

Kagome stood for a few seconds staring at the mysterious woman with tanned skin. Slowly, she turned away and continued her steps up as she heard her friends and Inuyasha carrying her mother behind her.

Ichigo and the rest remained below, watching them as they ascended to the top. Ichigo sheathed his Zanpakuto as his eyes narrowed to the cat woman's back. "What is your purpose?"

"First," Yoruichi turned around to face the Shinigami, "you three should have been more cautious and better planned when coming out in your Shinigami forms. Now your identity has been revealed to those up there."

"How were we supposed to know that they could see us?" Renji glared. "If anything we presumed they were normal humans."

"A man with dog ears on his head is not human-like," Yoruichi raised an eyebrow. "Now, second, charging for the enemy like that was reckless. Your device, Rukia, did not even give information that it was a hollow."

"This device only reads hollows and receives messages from the Soul Society itself," glared Rukia. "What else could I have thought it was?"

"Seems like that enemy you three have encountered knows them," her thumb came to point to the area Kagome and the rest disappeared to. "You three have become involved."

"But the question is, how come Rukia's device detected that person?" Ichigo walked forward. "Or better yet, why was it after Kagome and her friends?"

"That is something we are going to talk to them about," Yoruichi's eyes closed. "That woman is a miko. Do not ask how I know. It is information I came across with Urahara."

"So the pervert knows something," eyed Rukia.

Yoruichi's eyes slowly opened: "But it is best to be cautious from here on out. It is possible that mysterious enemy has come to cross paths with a hollow or an enemy of ours."
