MizukixTsukiyomi's Notes: Finally I was able to submit this revised chapter. It took longer than I expected because I got caught up in updating my other on going stories. But anyways, here is the edited version.

Chapter 07: Moon Above
Kagome's attention shifted to the hanyou by her side: "Inuyasha…would you please carry my mother to the house?"
He stared at her carefully before nodding and walking over to pick up her mother off from the bench. Gently, he walked towards the house but not before giving the Shinigami a cautious glare. Kagome gave them a slight mid bow: "Thank you for your help and for…saving my mother and myself." Her eyes dropped back to them before stopping at Ichigo's person.
"I will come here with them when we gather more information," spoke Yoruichi. "Have a good night." The cat woman turned around and began to descend down the stairs. Rukia and Renji stood before looking at the miko in front.
"Kagome-chan…," the petite Shinigami whispered, catching her attention. "I-"
She was stopped by Kagome's palm coming up in a halt. With a smile, Kagome's head shook slightly: "Explanations can wait. I think we all deserve to rest. We both have confusion and need time to process all of this."
Rukia gave her a slight nod: "Yes…of course." Rukia and Renji walked past the orange head, leaving him to stare at the miko.
Ichigo remained silent, watching as Kagome's eyes kept frozen at his. Ichigo's lips parted slightly but halted in his speech as soon as he heard the demon slayer's voice.
"Kagome-chan?"
Kagome turned her head to the side to see Sango worried over her. Nodding, she followed behind after bowing to Ichigo in gratitude. Ichigo watched as she went into the house, leaving him in the dark night. His eyes roamed up the bark of the Sacred Tree to the top of the wilted branches of winter. His hand opened up from its curled fingers as a petal dropped onto the middle of his palm. Curling his fingers back in, he knew that this was the beginning of a new danger.
Kagome sighed quietly under her breath as she tucked Shippou under the blankets. Her eyes dropped to observe Sango and Miroku quietly asleep on the couches. A smile slowly formed through her lips. She was content that they looked comfortable.
'A comfort Feudal Japan would never get to experience..'
"Go get some rest, Kagome."
Feeling the pair of golden orbs staring into her back, she turned to look at him. He was silent yet his glare screamed for answers. Concern washed over her features: "Is something the matter, Inuyasha?"
"Explain."
Kagome blinked tiredly: "Huh?"
"You know that orange head, right?" he glared. "The day you came from your school, his scent was all over you."
Kagome could sense the jealousy rushing off from him. She closed her eyes: "He is my neighbor, Inuyasha, but if you want to know how he defeated Naraku's attack - I do not have an answer for that." She walked by him and headed for the stairs.
Inuyasha grabbed her wrist, stopping her from her steps. His eyes remained ahead as he felt her eyes on him. "I do not want you near him."
She had no words to answer back.
"He and his group will bring nothing but trouble-"
"Or they could bring help," she cut him in his words. "Goodnight, Inuyasha." Her wrist slipped from his grasp as she felt his grip loosen. She disappeared into the darkness of the second floor, leaving Inuyasha to look at his sleeping friends.
'I do not trust that guy…'
Walking into his room, Ichigo placed his towel over his shoulders and looked up to see Rukia and Renji talking to each other. He sighed: "Can you two just go and sleep." He sat at the edge of his bed and drank from the water bottle he had brought in.
"Are you going to tell her?" questioned Rukia.
His eyes remained glued onto the wooden floor: "Tell her what?"
"About us being Shinigami," she answered, crossing her legs as she sat on his desk's chair.
"I would think it had been obvious for her to know," he scoffed and took another drink.
Renji shrugged: "I do not believe she does know."
Rukia shook her head, still trying to process everything that had happened in one night. Looking over at her partner, Renji nodded and signaled each other. Rukia stood from the seat: "We will talk about this tomorrow. Get some rest, Ichigo." Leaving the room, Ichigo sighed as he heard the door click shut.
Ichigo's eyes caught sight of the full moon from his window. He sighed tiredly and rose from his bed. His mind was not at peace. Not after seeing the miko's face as it was when he saved her. She was in shock both of her mother's wound and himself presenting his protection in such a way. He shook his head and grabbed his shirt.
'I will not be able to sleep like this…I need to go talk to her.'
Changing into her clothes to sleep, she heard the wind blow by the Sacred Tree that stood near her window. Turning around, she quickly covered her mouth to stop a screech of fright escape, noticing Ichigo outside her window.
What the heck was he doing there!? How did he even know this was her window to begin with!? She walked over to the window and slid it open as quietly as possible: "K-Kurosaki-san- I mean…Ichigo-kun, what are you doing here?"
Walking into her room, he looked behind his shoulder to look at her: "I was not going to let myself leave you questioning everything. You and I would not be able to go to sleep contently," he scratched the back of his head. "I know it is late but I thought this would be the best…for both of us."
Hearing the logic in his words, she knew he was right. She was not going to be able to sleep after the events she had witnessed. She pointed back outside the window: "Would you like to talk on the roof?"
He nodded at her offer and headed out. He crouched and offered his hand for assistance. Kagome gave out a slight blush at his help and placed her petite hand over his palm as he helped her outside.
Both teens looked up at the sky filled with nothing but darkness and only a few stars shining through. Glancing a small peak at the orange head next to her, she caught him being thoughtful to himself.
"I'm sorry."
Kagome blinked at his sudden apology.
"Huh?"
"For what happened and my…friends questioning everything so suddenly," he spoke. "Sorry for not telling you everything."
Kagome gave out a slight chuckle: "I do not think we should apologize to each other. After all, we both hid our deepest secret. It is only natural to hide it from people you just met. I did the same so there is no wrong in your doing."
Ichigo turned his attention the miko next to him. He heard a light laugh coming from her person.
"I mean…I did not even tell you I hung around demons."
"That is surely surprising," he answered back. "Was the silver haired male the only demon in the group?"
Kagome nodded with her attention back to the sky. "I met him on the day of my fifteenth birthday," she took a slight pause. Her mind questioning if she should go further in explanation. Would he believe her story or not? Taking a deep breath in; she let it out.
Hearing her calm herself, Ichigo turned to face her: "Kagome?"
"Another demon sucked me into our sacred well in our shrine and took me…five hundred years into the past," she looked back down to her feet.
Ichigo's eyes slightly widened: "Five hundred years? A well?" His mind flash backed to Rukia and Renji informing him of the mission they had received from the Soul Society about a mysterious well. Was this the well?
She nodded at his question. Her story went on as he listened attentively to her meetings with Inuyasha and the rest of her group. How she came to find out she had possession of the Shikon no Tama and shattered it. How ever since that day she had become committed into putting the jewel back together before Naraku got his hands on it. Ichigo watched as her eyes dropped into a sad level.
Her explanation went further and deeper with her love interest on the hanyou but his heart belonging to another woman. She decided to leave the reincarnation part away for the time being but gave out her name and label of a higher miko than her.
"Kikyou, huh?" he whispered.
Kagome brought her legs closer to her chest and wrapped her arms around them: "She may have passed to the next world but…his heart and her heart were and still are connected. Mine is still far from touching his."
Ichigo watched the eyes that held so much pain and loneliness almost break into droplets of tears. He looked away, unsure on how to console her. He didn't know Inuyasha very well personally but he could tell that the hanyou was still not able to let go even when he had a female by his side that could help him be better.
"When I was fifteen myself…I turned into a Shinigami."
"Huh?" Kagome's eyes quickly rose to stare at the orange head looking ahead into the city. "A…Shinigami?"
He nodded with a chuckle: "I was at home and before you knew it, my younger sister, Karin, came running to my room. She told me my family was in danger," Ichigo continued on his story how he had met Rukia at that exact time and her sacrifice to save his family. That from then he had become a Substitute Shinigami and the chaos he went through saving Rukia from being executed because of her crime done on him.
"I…see," Kagome was at a loss of words. She had thought her life was turned upside down. "I guess…we both had hard times."
He nodded with a scoff: "You could say that again, but," he turned to look at the miko, "at least we now can combine our strengths before our enemies get stronger."
"Speaking of which," she whispered, "that woman that came…"
"Yoruichi?" he raised an eyebrow.
"She spoke of your enemy. Who is it exactly?"
"We…are not sure who it is. We have had so many both hollows and Shinigami themselves," he stated with truth. "But…I have a feeling on the person it can be and if it is him," he turned to her with a seriousness in his eyes, "you have to be cautious around him."
"Who is it?" she questioned.
"The only person I can think of is...Aizen Sosuke."
Kagome's eyes remained onto Ichigo's person even after he returned his attention back to the full moon. 'Aizen…Sosuke and Naraku…could those have teamed up?' She rubbed her arms from the chill breeze.
"You should go back inside before you catch a cold," he spoke as he stood and helped her back up onto her feet. "Go get some rest. Tomorrow we can speak more of this and…a plan on how to find these shards."
Kagome nodded at his thought and gave him a tired smile: "Thank you…for saving me and my mother" She went back inside the house through her window and closed it behind her. She looked back outside to see him walking down the stairs already in fast speed. 'So both of us has had a crazy life.'
Golden eyes narrowed in anger as he saw the orange head Shinigami walk down the stairs. Forming fists with his hands, they began to shake slightly. 'I do not trust that guy,' the hanyou stood on the roof of the shrine, quietly he had been observing their interaction and heard the full conversation. Inuyasha jumped down and headed into the house and grabbed the blue bottle from the kitchen Kagome's grandfather had given him.
Opening the bottle, he placed the tip of the opening to his lips and felt the liquid run inside his throat before feeling his heart beginning to pulse in reaction. His eyes widened before he collapsed on the ground.
