Chapter 08: Earthquake Shock

Rays of bright light graced the miko's face from the window as she slept and groaned in discomfort. Nature's alarm had touched her face to wake her up for the day and not soon after, her actual alarm signaled off in agreement.

"Ugh…," her arm stretched out trying to find the annoying device that begged her to awaken. One eye opened from her slumber to see the time and noticed she had awaken an hour before. Sighing tiredly, she slowly sat up and rubbed her eyes. Her mind slowly rewinding back to the past night made her look down at her lap.

'I hope okaa-san is alright…,' standing from the comfort of her bed, she made her way to her closet and began to get dressed. Checking herself in the mirror, her hand reached for her belongings and froze mid-way the moment her ears picked up her brother's scream.

'Souta?'

Rushing towards the door, she hurried down stairs and watched as Souta had fallen on his behind and staring at the kitchen entrance with wide eyes. She knelt down worriedly: "Souta, what's wrong?"

His finger came to point ahead for her to follow. Just like his eyes, hers copied the movement as she watched Inuyasha walking out the kitchen with a cup of noodles in hand. He slurped his meal and raised an eyebrow: "What?"

"I-Inuyasha…," she slowly stood from her spot. "What on earth happened to you!?"

Her eyes scanned his identity. His hair had completely vanished from the silver and turned completely black along with his eyes. She quickly took notice of his attire. Her eyebrow twitched: "W-What…are you wearing?"

"I want to ask you the same thing," he groaned. "This thing is damn annoying to wear and too tight." He fixed the collar of his black garment.

"Those are my school's uniform! Why the heck are you wearing it!?" she pointed at the clothing accusingly.

Hearing the outburst early in the morning from the miko, both the demon slayer and monk walked in with Shippou and Kirara on their shoulders looking at the miko's eyes of full questioning and denial. Sango took a step towards her friend and placed a hand on her shoulder: "What is wrong, Kagome-chan?"

The miko's blue eyes caught sight of both her friends wearing her school's uniform as well only making her eyebrow twitch once again: "What the heck is going on here?"

"What does it look like?" groaned Inuyasha as he drank the liquid of his meal.

"Please tell me you three are just trying these out…," she whispered in hope.

Miroku chuckled at her worried expression and patted her back lightly: "Kagome-sama, we are accompanying you to this 'school' of yours."

"Why!?" she exclaimed now that she knew they were being serious.

"What do you mean why!?" Inuyasha threw his cup away and walked towards the miko. "That orange head stranger goes there with you, does he not?!"

Kagome did not look away and she remained silent to his question.

Sango came to the other side of the miko and smiled: "We are only going until we defeat Naraku and complete the Shikon no Tama."

Sighing in defeat, she nodded in agreement. All movement and words halted as they heard a knock coming from the entrance of the house. Kagome blinked, unsure who would be knocking so early. Inuyasha growled under his breath, catching his friends' attention.

"What is it, Inuyasha?" asked Miroku.

"It's those humans from yesterday," he glared at the door. He took a step forward only to have the black haired miko take a step in front of him with a glare of her own to match his.

"Inuyasha, let us not start arguments so early in the morning."

"Well what the hell are they doing here?!" he exclaimed.

They heard the knock once again, making Kagome sigh and turn: "Inuyasha just…don't say anything." Walking over to the door, she slowly opened it and revealing not only the orange head Shinigami standing but also Rukia and Renji standing behind him with a smile.

"Ichigo-kun…," she whispered. "Why are you here?"

"What do you mean why am I here? We have school remember?" he raised an eyebrow, questioning if she even knew what day it was. Then again he could see she was wearing the uniform. He heard a light nervous laugh coming from her person.

"R-Right…just one second, okay?" her hand went to push the door only to feel Inuyasha's strength pull the door wide open to reveal the arrival of the three Shinigami. Inuyasha could tell that these three did not recognize him at all. Not when he had completely changed his outer appearance.

"And you are?" questioned Ichigo.

Kagome rolled her eyes, annoyed that these two were already at it so early in the morning.

Inuyasha nodded with a smirk: "Clearly this disguise is going to work."

"Disguise?" repeated Renji in question.

Kagome patted Inuyasha's shoulder: "Okay Inuyasha, I told you to stay put and stop looking for trouble. I need to go to school so if you could please move."

Kagome grabbed her school bag and felt the hanyou grab her wrist immediately: "We are going with you."

Ichigo continued to stare at the mysterious raven haired male. He seemed very familiar to the eye and yet he felt like a whole different person. Who was he? But his attitude was very irritating like-

"Inuyasha?" blinked Ichigo. "You mean the hanyou, Inuyasha?!"

Rukia blinked at the attire on top of the hanyou: "Why…are you wearing the uniform to Ichigo's and Kagome-chan's school?"

With a heavy sigh, Kagome scratched her cheek: "It seems that they will be attending my school." All eyes landed on the demon slayer and monk coming out of the kitchen and wearing the same attire.

Miroku's smile appeared as he raised his hand: "Well, good morning my new friends! Or is it called 'classmates' as Kagome-sama's mother stated before?"

All eyebrows twitched at his enthusiasm for the hellish place he never knew about. Sango's eyes caught sight of Kagome's tiredness: "Um…Kagome-chan? What time are we leaving for school?"

"Um," Kagome checked the clock hanging on the wall only for her eyes to widen, "oh gosh! We need to head out now!" Gripping her school bag, she pushed her friends out the door along with the Shinigami.

"Kagome! Hold on a minute!" shouted her grandfather from upstairs. "I must inform you of something!"

Kagome peeked her head out the door: "After school grandfather!" She closed the door behind her and left.

Her grandfather sighed as he came down the stairs slowly: "That girl…always ignoring my words."

"Gosh! I'm hungry woman!" shouted Inuyasha the moment the bell for lunch sounded out freely. The miko raised an eyebrow at the disguised hanyou. She had to give him and her two other friends for easily coming into class without an uproar or having classmates question everything about them. For that she was glad about, but now Inuyasha's true was coming out and she knew that she could not just say her favorite 'S' word.

"And what do you want me to do about it?" she questioned back.

"Do you have ramen!?" he exclaimed.

She sighed and took out her bento along with Inuyasha's and the other two. "No, Inuyasha. Bringing ramen to school really isn't something we usually do. My okaa-san made us lunch."

"Do you ever put him in his place?" Ichigo crossed his arms, watching the nerve on Inuyasha's forehead twitch.

"I…try," sighed Kagome handing her demon slayer friend her lunch.

She watched Sango grabbing her assigned bento and soon making eye contact with the petite Shinigami who saw on the desk. Rukia crossed her legs and cleared her throat: "I have some questions. What exactly is this Shikon no Tama?"

"I am curious of that too," added Renji before stuffing his face with rice.

Miroku pulled his chair into the group and slowly came to sit before answering their curiosity. "The Shikon no Tama is a jewel united by Midoriko's soul along with the souls: Aramitama, Nigimitama, Kushimitama, and Sakimitama. The jewel can be used for good or evil, but most demons try to obtain the jewel for their selfish needs."

"Midoriko?" questioned Rukia with a raised brow.

"Midoriko was a miko many years ago," explained Sango. "She was a very powerful miko and known for slaying every single demon that came her way, but…"

"…her fate ended with a battle that lasted seven nights and days," finished Kagome, her eyes set on the food in front of her.

"How?" Renji's eyes went over to stare at the miko in front.

Frowning at the story, Kagome grabbed her chopsticks: "A demon secretly desired Midoriko. Unfortunately, the demon was able to get her into his jaws and for her to be set free and defeat the demon, Midoriko forced her own soul along with the demon's out of their bodies. Their souls came to be combined into one; creating the Shikon no Tama."

"The story continues to be said with the fight still continuing inside the jewel," added Miroku.

Ichigo turned his attention to the monk: "So I take it that it is a powerful jewel."

He received a nod from the three.

Scoffing, Inuyasha grabbed his lunch from the desk: "So what!? All we need to do is collect the shards and defeat Naraku!"

"Inuyasha, have you forgotten?" questioned Miroku.

"Forgotten what?" he asked – irritated.

"The shards reside on the other side of the well. Not to mention…Naraku has some power on his side with the ones he has collected himself."

Inuyasha managed to take out a humanly growl from his throat while the rest remained silent over the chaos. All movements halted along with thoughts as everyone in the building began to feel the ground shake.

Eyes widened in confusion and shock as they sensed something coming their way. Renji stood from his chair with the very little balance he had: "What the hell is going on!?"

As quick as she could, Rukia made her way to the windows and looked out. To her surprise, the view ahead gave her half the answer: "It is a hollow!" Her eyes narrowed down in thought: 'But…why is the whole building shaking!? Everyone here is feeling it!'

Ichigo abruptly stood from his seat: "Are you serious!?" Even with his given question, the reiatsu he felt was not lying.

"A hollow?" whispered Miroku, leaning towards the desk for support.

"He's not alone," spoke Rukia, her eyes focused on the new target.

Both male Shinigami ran to window before the earthquake made from the hollow started again. Their own pupils widened at seeing the two familiar males ahead. Renji clenched his jaw: "T-That's…!"

Ichigo immediately recognized the turquoise hair and black hair from each of the two people. Tightening his fist, the orange head's glare began to appear: "Grimmjow; Ulquiorrra."

Following behind Kagome and the rest looked out to see the same view. The smirk on Grimmjow widened as he stretched his arm out in front of him and pointed towards the windows that laid in front of the group.

"Is he pointing here?" glared Renji.

"Seems like it," answered Ichigo.
