Quinn was helping Jenny pick out a new coat for school. She had started to spend more time with the younger girl feeling the need to look out for her. She knew what it was like when your family weren't really around. Jenny had a good Dad and Brother but sometimes you really needed another woman to talk to and Jenny didn't really have the most sympathetic stepmom or sister.

"What about this one?" Jenny asked holding up yet another black coat.

"Jenny it's ok to have a little colour in your wardrobe" Quinn sighed rolling her eyes.

"You said you like me style" Jenny pointed out.

"And I do" She reassured the younger girl "But you can't be all doom and gloom all the time and this is what your outfit is going to scream, I've seen you wear things better than this"

Quinn picked up a belted red mac and handed it to Jenny.

"Red?" Jenny questioned.

"It was a good colour for me in high school" Quinn said shrugging her shoulders.

"Ok i'll get this one" Jenny agreed.

"So does your school have a winter formal or anything like that?" Quinn asked trying on different scarves.

"Yeah but i'm not going" Jenny replied

"Why not?" She asked looking up at the taller blonde.

"Well I don't have a date and i'm not exactly miss popular" Jenny reminded her.

"It'll all be different by the next one you could even be prom queen" She reassured her with a kind smile.

Jenny just rolled her eyes.

Quinn raised an eyebrow but decided not to comment.

"So what are you doing for the holidays?" She asked instead.

"Going to my Moms, I'm not up for playing happy families with the Van der woodsens" Jenny told her.

"I have no idea what to do this year, I'm not sure what Chuck does for Christmas" Quinn sighed.

"Usually gets drunk and sits alone, Chuck's Dad wasn't exactly loving and full of chritmas spirit" Jenny replied.

"So Chuck never had a real christmas?" She asked in disbelief.

"Hasn't Chuck ever told you about his family?" Jenny asked.

"Not a lot, I know his mother passed away and his father worked a lot" She replied.

"It was a complicated upbringing" Jenny said paying for her new coat at the register.

"Well I guess I'm throwing a traditonal Christmas at the Bass residence" She said with a smile.

"And invite who?" Jenny asked

"I guess Santana, Britt, Puck and Kim, maybe Shelby and Beth depending on their plans?" She suggested.

"Very traditional" Jenny laughed.

"Ok so we're not all that traditional a family but we still are one" She said defending her plan but she knew Jenny was right.

Quinn decided to spend the rest of her afternoon decorating the suite with all the new christmas decorations she had bought. Arthur helped her with the tree. Dressing it was a little difficult with Lola trying to steal the baubles to play with them.

"Stop it" She warned wagging her finger at the little dog "At least until after Chuck has seen it all perfect"

By that evening it looked like any other home ready for the holidays and Quinn was proud of her efforts.

She sat down on the couch with a herbal tea and turned on the tv.

Chuck was home on time just after 8 o'clock.

"Hey" she said greeting him with a smile "How was your day?"

"What is all this?" He asked looking round the living room.

"It's a christmas tree" She replied raising an eyebrow at his less than impressed tone.

"So you thought you could just do what you want with my home?" He snapped.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" She demanded.

"Nothing" he sighed sitting down "Sorry"

"Not really good enough Chuck" She said keeping her tone even not wanting to get upset by his sudden unexpected mood.

He stood up and pulled her into a hug holding her tightly.

"Blair and jack messed with my investors" He sighed "People are backing out"

"What did they say?" She asked looking up at him.

"Jack brought drugs and a half naked Blair into my office, Mr Jones ran out the door pretty much" Chuck said sitting down on the couch and pulling her onto his lap.

"There's other people out there, your name carries a lot of weight and they can't get to everyone" She reassured him.

"I want to know how they found out my meeting was this afternoon and how they knew who it was with" He said shaking his head.

"Can you save it maybe?" She asked.

"Mr Jones is a family man from the deep south and now he knows the real me" He replied.

"You mean who you were, invite him round to dinner" She suggested.

"With my heavily pregnant girlfriend who is having my ex best friends baby?" He asked

"Well he wouldn't know that..."She pointed out.

"Are you saying we should lie to him?" He asked raising an eyebrow "I didn't know you had this sexy devious side"

"Well i'm full of surprises" She giggled.

"You really are" he agreed "and our home looks great by the way"

"It's our home again now?" She asked.

"You know it is" He nodded.

"I was kind of hoping we could spend christmas together" She said lacing her fingers through his looking down at their intertwined hands.

"Sounds perfect" He replied kissing her hand.

"You should arrange for Mr Jones to come round for dinner this week" She suggested.

"There'll be other investors" He shurgged.

"Where did this positive outlook come from?" she asked.

"Well i have this amazing girlfriend looking out for me" He replied.

Quinn laughed and kissed his cheek before trying to get up but Chuck wouldn't let go.

"I want to spend time right here" He murmered snuggling up with her and the tv on in the background. Quinn wanted to ask questions about what Jenny had told her earlier but she knew underneath all the bravado Chuck was a sensitive person and if he wanted to talk about his family then he would do. She wasn't about to push him she knew it wasn't exactly nice to have other people force you to admit things about your past before you were ready. Instead they laughed and joked talking about anything and everything. Half watching tv but mostly just enjoying each others company until they fell asleep right where they were.

Quinn woke up the next morning and yawned as she sat up. Chuck was still asleep. She smiled at how peaceful he looked. She jumped when she realised there was someone else in the room.

"Who the hell are you?" She demanded waking Chuck up.

"You two looked too sweet to wake up, I'm Jack Bass" Chucks uncle said introducing himself.

"Is there a reason you're here?" Chuck asked standing up.

"Do I need a reason to visit my favourite nephew?" Jack said sitting down in the chair.

"It doesn't matter if you do or don't you're not welcome here" Chuck replied "Get out"

"She's pretty" Jack said ignoring Chuck's outburst "Not quite up to Blair's standard but if you had to slum it"

"Get out" Chuck repeated.

"Your father had a thing for whore's too" Jack smirked.

"What did you call me?" Quinn demanded standing up.

"Knocked up by one and then move onto the best friend" Jack continued taunting her "You're just a dirty little slut"

Quinn slapped him hard across the face and grabbed his nose pulling his head low.

"You really should't have said that" She said

Chuck pulled Quinn off Jack and sat her back down on the couch.

"See Princess family comes first" Jack laughed still holding his face where an angry red mark had started to appear.

Chuck turned around and punched Jack straight in the nose. Blood poured instantly.

"Quinn is my family now and so is that baby, Not you or Blair or anyone else is going to change that" Chuck spat "Now get out"

Arthur had appeared from the elevator to escort Jack outside.

"Are you ok?" Chuck asked turning back to Quinn.

"It's high school all over again" She sobbed.

"It's not high school again, I love you and I would do anything for you and your baby." He told her taking her shoulders and forcing her to look at him.

"Did you really mean me and my baby are your family now?" She asked.

"Yes I did" He replied looking her straight in the eye.

"Do you have anymore crazy relatives or friends I haven't met yet?" She asked with a small smile wiping her tears away.

"Plenty, feel free to take them down like you did to Jack" He replied with a grin.

"Great impression on the in laws" She laughed.

"On the what?" He asked.

"I was kidding don't worry" She replied.

"Marry me" He said seriously

"What?" She asked.

"I love you, you're my family, we should get married" He replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"What about Nate? And your family?" She asked.

"Do you still love him?" Chuck asked.

"No" She replied honestly "But you have to propose properly"

"Is that a yes?" He asked.

Quinn just nodded and threw her arms around him.

"Yes" she murmered before kissing him.
