A Study In Ridiculousness

Everyone relaxed their positions and the professors rose to go to the fire place. James massaged his neck, "It's hard to believe that this is almost over."

"I know," Hermione commented. "Soon my job here will be done." She couldn't quell the feeling of sadness that rose in her, she didn't want to go. She loved being here with these people, when she went back she didn't know what she was going to. Harry tugged on her hair and she grinned, tickling the baby.

"We'll miss you Mya," Lily pouted. "Even if we get to see you in ten years, it just won't be the same."

"I'll miss you too, even if I don't remember it," Hermione added in afterthought.

Sirius stared at Hermione who was playing with Harry morosely. She had been there for three days but she was already close to them all and now there were only four more days before she had to go. The worse bit was that, she wouldn't remember any of this. All the laughs and fun, the close friendship that had developed, it would all be forgotten by the girl who was responsible. She'd forget Harry, Lily, James , Remus, and…him. She lose all memories they had together, in four days.

"You know mate, four days is a long time," Remus said quietly as if he had read his mind.

"What are you talking about?" Sirius demanded.

"I see you and Mya have gotten quite close as of late…"

"Don't be stupid Remus," Sirius snorted. "Even if I did feel something for the girl, which I'm not saying I do, acting on it with only four days would be ridiculous."

Now it was Remus's turn to snort, "Sirius what about this isn't ridiculous? We have time-traveling girl who has come to tell us about the future involving our now infant godson/nephew saving the wizarding world and we're the ones who are going to change it."

"What are you two talking about?" Hermione came over carrying Harry.

"Just talking about how ridiculous this situation is," Remus replied easily.

"I suppose it is quite odd," Hermione laughed. "I came back in time, met some dead people, and am in the middle of attempting to save the entire future of wizarding world. Let's not even talk about the fact I'm playing with my baby best friend and helped change his diaper." Hermione bounced Harry in his arms and they laughed.

"What's the joke?" James and Lily joined.

"All the ways that this is ridiculous," Hermione smiled.

"Well there's pretty much everything we've heard Harry do," Lily started. "But then there's me and James dying in a few months."

"Plus we had to find out from a time- traveller that one of our friends is a death eater," James sighed.

"I learned I was framed by said friend, sent to Azkaban, then killed by my lunatic cousin." Sirius shrugged.

"I became a professor, that alone is ridiculous enough for me," Remus raised his hands.

"There's the ministry of Mya's time, they're not just ridiculous but downright stupid," James pointed out.

Lily called on James to help with some more drinks in the kitchen and Mya sat on the ground to play with Harry. "See," Remus whispered to Sirius and winked. "This whole thing is ridiculous, what's the harm in adding a bit more?"

"Shut it Moony," Sirius said lowly through gritted teeth. "I don't have feelings for her."

"Tell me that the next time you growl Padfoot," Remus shot back amused before moving to join the two on the floor. Sirius huffed and transformed into Padfoot to romp with them too. When James came they played a quick game of chase while Lily brought out some more lemonade and tea. Soon the professors were back and they had to get back into place. Sirius sat down breathless but happy, he chanced a glance at Mya who pulled Harry into her lap again. Remus talking him into going after a girl, Sirius couldn't help but laugh, that was just one more reason that this was ridiculous.

A/N: Now hold on, before you grab your pitchforks and torches and prepared to flame broil me, let me explain. I hadn't started this fic with the intention of making it Sirius/Hermione but as it unfolded it's started to seem like one. So I'm throwing this in here in case I end up taking it in that direction. I won't ignore if I don't, but I just wanted to have something in case I did. That being said ENJOY R&R PLZ!
