Letters From Harry
A/N: Hey guys, I thought this would be a great way to segway into the future and you all get to see how this plays out. ENJOY R&R PLZ!
Dear Mum and Dad,
I GOT INTO GRYFFINDOR! So did Ron and Neville and Hermione. Draco went to Slytheirn, poor bloke was really upset. I don't even think he'll ever actually sit at his own house table for any meals. Don't worry, we're helping him. Classes are okay thankfully we've got Hermione on our side. She's really smart, easily going to be top of the year that one. Loads of people keeping asking me about you and how you defeated Voldemort, it's a bit annoying to be honest but I'm really proud of what you guys did so I can handle it. We've got flying lessons coming up so I'll write again after that…
Dear Mum and Dad,
You'll never believe what's happened! Professor McGonagall just made me Gryffindor seeker! We had our lessons with the Slytherins who were picking on Malfoy. Madame Hooch was called away for some reason so Neville tried to stand up for him and they started on him too, taking the Remembrall his mum gave him. One of them, his name is Marcus, started flying away with it so Malfoy and I tried to go after him. Marcus just laughed and threw it so we both dived for it together but I caught it first. McGonagall had been watching the entire time. I thought she was going to punish us but she let Draco off and then took me to see Wood the Quidditch captain who promised to help me start training as soon as possible. I'm the youngest seeker in a century! I'm going to need my broom and my first match is in a few weeks, please say you'll come…
Dear Mum and Dad,
The match is this week, I can't to see you guys. I'm getting really nervous, everyone is telling either that I'll do great or fail epically. I wish you and Sirius were around though Uncle Remus is doing his best to keep me calm. Ron volunteered to practice with me but he has to use the school brooms which aren't that great still he's trying. Hermione has been really nice too, making sure I keep up with my homework and she gave me this book called Quidditch Through the Ages. It's great but it seems like the Seeker gets into a lot of trouble during these games, hope I'm up for it….
Dear Mum and Dad,
Thank you so much for coming to the game, I still can't believe we won! And wow Dad, the entire team really loves those new brooms you gave us. Fred and George said something about praising the wise and benevolent mischief gods. Anyway they trying to get me to help them with something, they apparently have a promise to keep whatever that means…
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Potter,
As Head of Gryffindor house I must inform you this Halloween, your son Harry James Potter, along with other students, was involved in the unauthorized engorgement of several pumpkins and the charming of them to sing and spit pulp and pumpkin seeds at passersby. He has received detention for two days and a reduction in house-points…
Dear Mum and Dad,
Sorry about Halloween, Fred and George thought it would be fun and got Ron and me to help out. Hermione refused to be a part of it but I saw her laugh. You should have seen the look on Professor Snape's face when some of the pulp and seeds got stuck to his nose! Again, sorry. Professor McGonagall made us do lines but it was kind of hard to take it seriously when we had to write 'I will not engage in disorderly conduct with the school pumpkins' over and over again. Anyway I was wondering if it was okay if I stay at Hogwarts for Christmas this year… I know you guys wanted me to come home but Ron's parents are going to Romania to see Charlie so the rest of the guys are going to stay. Neville already got permission for his mum, Draco too, and Hermione is still waiting on a reply from hers. Please can I stay…
Dear Mum and Dad,
Merry Christmas! Thanks for letting me stay back, the castle is so beautiful and we're having a blast. Professor Dumbledore allowed Draco to spend Christmas Eve night at Gryffindor Tower so we could all open our presents together in the morning. We've just finished. Hermione wants me to say thank you for the book and sweets you sent for her. Ron says thanks too for the Quidditch figurine set, Draco really likes Mum's brownies, and Neville says thanks for the Chocolate Frogs. And thank you so much Dad, Mum, I can't believe you're giving me the Cloak! I promise to keep it safe and yes Dad I'll try to use it well…
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Potter,
As Head of Gryffindor House I must inform you that your son Harry James Potter, along with some other students, was apprehended out of bed and out of bounds this last night. They were caught playing an unauthorized game of Quidditch at two-thirty in the morning. We are not sure as to how they got out but they have been given detention and reductions in house points…
Dear Mum and Dad,
I know I deserved the Howler but both Mrs. Weasley and Andromeda also sent some at the same time so my head really hurts. All me, Ron, Fred, George, Neville, Draco wanted to do was play a game to round off the holidays but Percy found out and told Professor McGonagall. We weren't doing anything bad, even Hermione went with us, to watch though she doesn't like flying very much. She did charm some balls to fly around like real Quidditch stuff so she still had to serve detention with us. We're just lucky McGonagall didn't kick us off the team, all of those Howlers would be nothing compared to what Wood would've done if half his team was on the bench for the rest of the year. Which reminds me, the next match is in a few weeks, can you make it again?
Dear Mum and Dad,
It's official, mine was the fastest catch on record! I'm glad you guys were there to see it (even though Sirius reckons I could've done it faster) and we got to have lunch together before you had to go. This means that we're in the final! I'll write when they fix a date for the match. Hermione, Ron, and I just came back from having tea with Hagrid – did you know he wants a pet dragon? Hermione asked him where he would keep it in a wooden house but Hagrid was sure that if he got a hatchling he'd be able to train it to not be dangerous. I don't know much about dragons but I think it's pretty safe to say that we're all lucky he doesn't have one. Draco is definitely more settled into Slytherin house but he still doesn't like it there, I suppose it will be a while before people can look past what his parents were. I can't believe first year is nearly over. The time has gone by so fast but we still have exams and I don't care what Ron says Hermione is MY study partner…
Dear Mum and Dad,
The final match has been set for the last Saturday in May. We're playing against Slytherin and Slytherin hasn't lost the cup in years. Everyone thinks I'll be the one to take it from them. I hope I don't let anyone down. Sorry this is such a short letter but Fred and George are bugging me again about something. Don't worry, no more trouble from me…
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Potter,
As Head of Gryffindor House I must inform you that your son Harry James Potter, along with some other students – oh for heaven's sake, Lily, James, I caught him and the Weasley twins preparing a large prank that involved a vat of marmalade and water balloons. I didn't ask – I don't think I even want to know – I just gave them a detention. I expect you'll be receiving quite a few of these from me so I don't think I need to maintain the professionalism, god knows Molly and I practically have a correspondence going…
Dear Mum and Dad,
Sorry about the marmalade thing but I really didn't do anything. Fred and George just needed help carrying all the stuff and that's when Professor McGonagall found us. I tried to tell I wasn't really involved but I don't think she was listening. She just took one look at us – we had filled our cauldrons with the marmalade and stuffed our pockets with the balloons – and gave us detention on spot. We've started exam preparations, History of Magic will be hardest, I haven't seen anyone besides Hermione manage to pay attention for the full class. Turns out Ron and I didn't need to argue about whose partner she'd be, she's helping both of us. She drew up timetables and looked over our notes to make sure we got it all right. She draws the line at the doing our homework for us but she will check it when we're done. See you at the final match…
Dear Mum and Dad,
THE QUIDDITCH CUP IS OURS! I did it! I really did it! It was so brilliant! I was so happy you guys were there to stand beside me when they gave me the Quidditch Cup to hold up. I'm glad Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and Ginny could make it too. And Andromeda and Tonks. It was fantastic to have everyone there. Exams are in a week so I don't think I'll be able to write again before…
